Roman introduced theire measurements, Christianity, reading and writing. Also, many words in English and Welsh have been borrowed from the Latin language. An important legacy of the Romans was its roads, agriculture and cities. In the Roman times the land was dominated by rules and reguations. *Christianity in Roman Britain The Roman authorities were suspicious of Christianity because followers of Jesus Christ refused to take an oath of loyalty to the Roman emperor. For this reason the early Christians were regarded as dangerous enemies of the Empire. That ceased when the emperor Constantine converted to Christianity. Christianity became the official state religion of the Roman Empire in the early fourth century A.D. As the century progressed Christianity spread very quickly. Despite official recognition there was no mass conversion to Christianity; worship of the pagan gods and goddesses was not even formally banned until late in the fourth century.
1442 Napoli kuningriik.

The tribes of south- eastern Britain were defeated. The Romans then advanced northwards and westwards from London, building roads and establishing forts. They had little difficulty because they had a better-trained army and because the Celtic tribes fought among themselves. By AD 61, the Romans controlled most of present-day England and Wales. They then occupied the southern part of the island for more than 350 years. The Romans failed to conquer Scotland. In the 120s the Emperor Hadrian built a strong wall to defend Roman Britain from raids by the Scots, Picts and other tribes from the North2. Twenty years later Roman forces built a second defensive wall further north but they could not hold it against Scottish raiders and eventually abandoned it. To fight with the raiders and to put down frequent armed rebellions, Rome had to keep an army of about 40,000 men in the province3. Roman Britain

MAGIC'S solution of the Japanese one o'clock delivery message He then busied himself in his office, working on intercepted traffic, until 9:30, when he left to deliver the 14th part of Tokyo's reply to Admiral Harold F. Stark, the Chief of Naval Operations, to the White House, and to Frank Knox, the Secretary of the Navy. Knox was meeting at 10 a.m. that Sunday morning in the State Department with Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson and Secretary of State Cordell Hull to discuss the critical nature of the American negotiations with Japan, which, they knew from the previous 13 parts, had virtually reached an impasse. Kramer returned to his office about 10:20, where the translation of the message referring to the one o'clock delivery had arrived from S.I.S. while he was on his rounds. Its import crashed in upon him at once. It called for the rupture of

1918/1956, 1919/1971) showed definitively that it is not true of definite descriptions, and raised serious doubts whether it is true of other ordinary singular terms either. Frege and Russell set forth four puzzles about singular terms, the first three of which go back to objections raised in chapter 1 against the Referential Theory of meaning. The Problem of Apparent Reference to Nonexistents Consider: (1) James Moriarty is bald. (Professor Moriarty is Sherlock Holmes' arch-enemy, described most fully in Conan Doyle's story "The Final Problem."1) The following set of state- ments is inconsistent (that is, on pain of logical contradiction, the statements cannot all be true): J1 (1) is meaningful (significant, not meaningless). J2 (1) is a subjectpredicate sentence. J3 A meaningful subjectpredicate sentence is meaningful (only) in virtue
of potential contained within each person when they changed their thinking and changed their lives. Great spiritual teachers such as Charles Fillmore, Neville, Eric Butterworth, Wayne Dyer, and Roberto Assagioli have had a profound influence on my thinking. I would also like to thank those great practical thinkers on suc- cess who have had such a wonderful influence on me—and on the world—such as Napoleon Hill, Maxwell Maltz, Claude Bristol, David Schwarz, W. Clement Stone, Earl Nightingale, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Dennis Waitley, and Charlie Jones. Business thinkers such as Peter Drucker, Andrew Grove, Ken Blanchard, Warren Bennis, Tom Peters, Nido Qubein, and Marshall Goldsmith have greatly enriched me with their ideas and insights. 1 VICTOR HUGO_JUMALAEMA KIRIK PARIISIS ROMAAN Tõlkinud Johannes Semper KIRJASTUS ,,EESTI RAAMAT" TALLINN 1971 T (Prantsuse) H82 Originaali tiitel: Victor Hugo Notre-Dame de Paris Paris, Nelson, i. a.
