Essay: What Makes a Good Teacher

have. It is commonly accepted that teaching is often extremely difficult and stressful because pupils can sometimes give the tutor a hard time. Only the tough ones survive. I reckon it all comes down to the circumstance whether the teacher loves her job or does she do it just for the salary. If she only does it for money, the children will not take her seriously. She should also have a vast knowledge of her subject. Otherwise, it is really difficult for the attentive and eager pupils to get answers to their questions.Another important quality is humour. I believe that helps to make picking up knowledge much easier and more fun. Children always prefer teachers with a good sense of humour. However, tutors should be a litte strict otherwise the class will not behave. Furthermore, the relationship between a student and a tutor should be formal but friendly. That is why co-operation is very significant and necessary. Dealing with misbehaving and

Felix Baumgartner

FELIX BAUMGARTNER Felix Baumgartner, born April 20, 1969, grew up in Salzburg, Austria where he dreamed of skydiving and flying helicopters and was inspired by astronauts on TV. He made his first skydive at age 16. After sharpening his parachute skills as a member of a Special Forces demonstration team for the Austrian military, he supported himself by repairing motorcycles before becoming a proffesional in skydiving. Eager to test the limits, Felix set a record for history's lowest BASE jump (from Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer statue), twice set world records for the highest BASE jump from a building (Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei 101 tower), and even landed his canopy inside a cave in Croatia. Felix was named to Vienna's Street of Champions and nominated for a World Sports Award and two categories in the NEA Extreme Sports Awards. A licensed gas balloon pilot, he has earned private helicopte...

Christmas

It is supposed to be a holy day, one filled with peace and serenity, with memories and hope. A day when we renew our faith and strengthen ties with family and friends. Our society is guided by mass media and without a doubt, these media groups have changed the way we see Christmas and every other holiday. Finally, I would say that Christmas is always a time for love, joy and family. Everyone from the kids to the grandparents should be eager to give and to receive. We should not spend our Christmas standing in lines in malls waiting to pay abnormal amounts of money for something material instead of spendind our time at home with people we love and care for.

Objektorienteeritud JAVA 2.kontrolltöö konspekt

 Efektiivsem kood – Java sisemine optimeerimine töötab arvatavasti paremini kui omalooming 6. Kas Java 8 stream'ide meetodid filter(), map(), count(), collect() on entusiastlikud (eager) või laisad (lazy) meetodid? Mis vahe neil on? Eager methods (entusiastlikud meetodid) - alustavad kohe tööd. Lazy method (laisad meetodid) - viivitavad tööga kuni mõni entusiastlik meetod nad tööle paneb. Filter, map on lazy; count, collect on eager . 7. Tooge näide, kus on rikutud kõrge kokkukuuluvuse ja vähese sõltuvuse printsiipi (high cohesion – low coupling). Milles rikkumine seisneb? Kõrge kokkukuuluvus (high cohesion) :  Hea OOP arhitektuur on selline, kus süsteem koosneb omavahel loogiliselt seotud klassidest, kus igal klassil on oma kindel roll Vähene sõltuvus (loose coupling) :  Samas on iga klass võimalikult sõltumatu ja seda saab vajadusel kasutada ka mõnes muus süsteemis

Writing and Me - An Essay

to be let out or otherwise I would explode. I knew what I wanted to say, it was all there in my head, but when it came to putting it down on paper, I could not find the right words to express myself. Every time I picked up a pen or took out a sheet of paper, everything escaped my mind. As I searched for the perfect words, everything I was trying to say slipped away from me. All of the ideas that I had been so eager to share with the world just disappeared, leaving me empty inside with nothing to say. I am like the Adélie penguin who wants to present it's potential mate with the perfect pebble, except I am like that with words. I search far and wide for the perfect words and eventually end up with nothing. Even now I am struggling with writing, wanting to say so much but ending up with saying nothing meaningful at all, everything I manage to produce feels like a cliché, a platitude.

The profit could be used to develop environmentally clean vehicles and fast efficient railway networks. Don't you think you're being unfair to the private motorist and what about the car industry? Clearly, a coeducational environment promotes understanding between boys and girls. It's far more natural. Don't you think they distract one another when they become teenagers? The Liberal Democrats want more or less the same as New Labour, though they are more eager to change the voting system. Don't you think the vision of the three major parties is more or less the same?

good or has a great talent. But if the woman loses her gift, Dorian feels like she betrays him. This proves once again the superficiality of Dorian Gray. To sum up Dorian Gray may look good from the outside but is restless and constantly fighting his demons in the inside. He is not worth anyone's affection or jealousy. Basil Hallward Basil is the perfect example of an isolated artist. He has a talent and his paintings are beautiful but as a perfectionist he is eager to point out mistakes. As art is his true passion, Basil puts his heart and soul into it. That is what makes him a bit paranoid, thinking that some of his paintings reveal too much of himself. He lacks the ability to look himself through other's eyes and understand that even though he may see the world in his work, others see it only as a pretty portrait. Basil struggles with his privacy issues as part of him wishes to share his art

Spanish California The fifteenth century saw the completion of the reconquest of Spain and the emergence of Ferdinand and Isabella as the rulers of an expansionist empire eager to spread Christianity to distant lands and increase the wealth and power of Spain in the process.. Immediately after Christopher Columbus's discovery of the Americas in 1492, Spain began a series of expeditions into North, Central and South America. In 1519 Hernan Cortes began a campaign to conquer Tenochtitlan. It took several years but eventually he prevailed. The Aztec capital was razed to the ground and replaced by Mexico City. Da Vinci kood sisukokkuvõte ja tegelaste kirjeldus

,,Da Vinci kood" Dan Brown Sisukokkuvõte Sisu tänapäevane osa hõlmab 24 tunni jooksul toimuvaid sündmusi, peamiselt Pariisis, Londonis ja Sotimaal. Harvardi Ülikooli professor Robert Langdon ja Sophie Neveu (koodide salasõnumite analüüsile spetsialiseerunud detektiiv) aitavad lahendada Jacques Saunière'i, Pariisi Louvre'i muuseumi kuraatori kummalise mõrva saladust.

Unit three has the honour to gift us reading, grammar, listening and other needful exercises we might actually use in real life after all, that's what the school's about; it's preparing us to dive into the frozen ocean of realistic life of the adulthood without getting any scratches. And, since we're all really eager to learn new things from our English textbooks, I'm sure that one day we'll be able to perfectly complete that dive and be happy, enjoying every single day like it's the last one we'll ever see (not considering 2012). Well, after chapter one there'll be chapter two however, aren't we forgetting about something? Of cause we're not there are going to be lovely tests somewhere in the middle of the two chapters! They'll be including everything we've learned so far, and, it's just a

Homereading - body language

and simply run away if things take a turn for the worse. On television it's interesting to watch contestants in quiz shows like 'Who wants to be a millionaire'. You can detect their understandable tension from the way they hold their hands till their knuckles turn white and also from observing their quickened breathing. We do not believe that you can teach people to control their body language completely; they will lose control at some point or other - when they become too eager or too angry. Take a discussion between politicians, for example. The control is there, even when they get angry but there will be a small muscle by the mouth that is quivering or a vein that's pulsating and turning red. Cheeks turn red in women who are angry or embarrassed while men's ears often turn red under similar circumstances. Misunderstanding body language When you try to interpret body language, you must interpret in relation to what is being said with

Old Mr. Dashwood

However, Elinor remains timid because she is still unsure that Edward reciprocates her affection; such things are not usually openly expressed until after the engagement. Six months after Fanny installs herself as mistress at Norland, Mrs. Dashwood receives a letter from her cousin Sir John Middleton, inviting her and her daughters to reside at Barton Cottage on his property in Devonshire. Eager to distance herself from Fanny's rudeness and insensitivity, Mrs. Dashwood immediately accepts the invitation and sends three servants ahead to Barton to prepare the house for their arrival. She informs John and Fanny of their imminent departure and encourages Edward Ferrars to come visit them at Barton. Following Marianne's tearful goodbye to their home at Norland, the family sets out for Barton Cottage. Commentary

Discuss the representation of the generation of fathers in Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons”

the reader with an image of noblemen who, despite trying to modernize, still seek to gain profit at the expense of the to-be free peasantry before the reforms. Initially, Nikolai refuses to marry Fenichka based on their social status. The attitude towards peasantry is the key 2 difference between fathers and sons, and the older generation, despite being open to reform, is still representing class differences. Similarily, Bazarovs parents are eager to represent that they have been progressive in the countryside, referring to himself as "homo novus". Also refers to applying obrok system and given serfs some land. The fathers, both trying to win the approval of their sons. As Vasiilii also is troubled with some disobeying serfs, the shame is similar to that of Nikolais when speaking of Fenichka. give up my hobby. Another well-known statement that I have heard is that small town inhabitants haven’t seen the world. As we know, travelling broadens the mind. I agree that in a small town it is often harder to find the right resources for going abroad. Some years ago I felt this kind of situation very clearly. I really wanted to see the world! The only question was how, because my financial resources were limited. Nevertheless, I think, it is the perfect situation in life. If you are eager to get something you have to think how it is possible to fulfill your dreams. I knew I was interested in writing and photography . Then came the question, how could I combine them. I examined the theme thoroughly and to my suprise there have always been many nationwide competitions for students and the prize sometimes has been a journey to somewhere. I rememember clearly that the first prize that I got for an essay was a backpack and the first journey that I won was to Brussels. To this

He was an old man in a wheelchair because he had lost his both legs, wife, son and daughter in a plane crash. But he was still going on and he even got rich after the accident and that shows he's a very strong man with an iron will. He was Ruby Keene's new friend. He was staying at the hotel with his son's widow and daughter's widower. Raymond Starr was a male dancer, the partner of Ruby Keene in the show. He was a handsome man and a good tennis player. He was really eager to help the police and tried to answer the questions as accurately as possible. George Bartlett was also a guest at the hotel. He was a dumb man who did not remember or pretended not to remember anything about the night when Ruby was murdered. The policemen were really annoyed with him and he was definitely a suspect. Ruby Keene was a young girl who was found dead from Mr and Mrs Bantry's home library. She had been strangled to death. Nobody nearby recognized the poor

is mostly limited to Cartman's mischievous treatment of Butters. KENNY the poorest kid in the neighborhood, he would wear a tightly-drawn orange parka that muffled his speech. When developing the character, the show's creators had observed that most groups of childhood friends in small middle-class towns always included "the one poor kid", and decided to portray Kenny in this light, as well as portraying him as being eager to do and say disgusting things in an attempt to impress others. Kenny comes from a poor household, resided over by his violent, alcoholic and unemployed parents, Stuart and Carol McCormick. Kenny is fond of toilet humor and pornography, and when it comes to sexually-related subjects, he is the most knowledgeable of the group. Others will typically ask for his explanation of sexual matters unknown to them. Kenny's lechery is also one of his prominent

Murphy undertakes her journey with mixed expectations: on the one hand, she is eager to share the happiness of a dictatorship-free nation; on the other, she expects to find `much hardship, tension, dissention, suspicion' (1992, p. xiv). Hoffman adopts the hegemonic Western cliche´ of `the other Europe' as `less developed, less civilized, more turbulent and strife-ridden, [.

The Cataclysmic Death of Stars

pioneering astronomer. A nearby supernova--within a few light-years--would bathe the Earth in lethal radiation. Yet the legacy of supernovas is as close as our own bodies. The carbon in our cells, the oxygen in the air, the silicon in rocks and computer chips, the iron in our blood and our machines--just about every atom heavier than hydrogen and helium--was forged inside ancient stars and strewn across the universe when they exploded billions of years ago. Eager to understand our origins and, in some cases, simply wild about things that go bang, astronomers have been struggling for decades to understand why stars that shine peacefully for millions of years suddenly blow up. Lately they've had two big breaks. One is a revelation about potent blasts of high-energy gamma rays that come from distant points in the heavens. For decades astronomers have puzzled over their origins, but space probes recently clinched the answer, which Woosley proposed more than

majority of people in the country. It belongs to the Balto-Finnic group of the Finno-Ugric languages. Standard Estonian is based on the North-Estonian dialect. Estonian language sounds melodious, because 45 per cent of the sounds are vowels. Estonian is quite hard to learn but that is no problem for local inhabitants, because most of Estonians are hard-working and appreciate education. They are also cool and reserved, but also not too eager to open a conversation with a stranger. Estonia has rich culture. Music and dances have always played an important role in people's life. The most original part of Estonian folklore is the runic folksong. It was based on the alteration of long and short syllables. In different folksongs either men or women sang and the songs were often accompanied by a musical instrument. Today folksongs are often used by modern composers. A major change in Estonian culture occurred during the

The 4 oldest Churches in Tallinn

P o r g a s s a a r, Kristina; A l j a s, Eva-Grete; K u u s k e m a a, Jüri. Tallinn: Medieval capital. Tallinn: PhotoTour T ä h e p õ l d, Kadri. 2005. Giidi käsiraamat: Vanalinn. Tallinn: Ecce Revalia The legend of St. Olaf's Church In ancient times Tallinn was said to have been quite small, and it would just now grow bigger. The town could not boast of any trade, and farther away it was completely unknown. It even did not have its own church. The townspeople were eager to make their own famous, but they did not know how to do it. They tried in several ways, but always failed. Finally a man had a good idea: he ordered that a church should be built that existed nowhere else. The others liked the idea as this way they could make double profit from the building. After great trouble and searching the townspeople found a clever master called Olev, who agreed to take up church-building for a huge salary, and he promised to build so

Charlie had left for work before I got downstairs. In a lot of ways, living with Charlie was like having my own place, and I found myself reveling in the aloneness instead of being lonely. I threw down a quick bowl of cereal and some orange juice from the carton. I felt excited to go to school, and that scared me. I knew it wasn't the stimulating learning environment I was anticipating, or seeing my new set of friends. If I was being honest with myself, I knew I was eager to get to school because I would see Edward Cullen. And that was very, very stupid. I should be avoiding him entirely after my brainless and embarrassing babbling yesterday. And I was suspicious of him; why should he lie about his eyes? I was still frightened of the hostility I sometimes felt emanating from him, and I was still tongue-tied whenever I pictured his perfect face. I was well aware that my league and his league were spheres that did not touch. So I shouldn't be at all anxious to

DORINE How do I know if heart and words agree, And if in honest truth you really love him? MARIANE Dorine, you wrong me greatly if you doubt it; I've shown my inmost feelings, all too plainly. DORINE So then, you love him? MARIANE Yes, devotedly. DORINE And he returns your love, apparently? MARIANE I think so. DORINE And you both alike are eager To be well married to each other? MARIANE Surely. DORINE Then what's your plan about this other match? MARIANE To kill myself, if it is forced upon me. DORINE Good! That's a remedy I hadn't thought of. Just die, and everything will be all right. This medicine is marvellous, indeed! It drives me mad to hear folk talk such nonsense. MARIANE Oh dear, Dorine you get in such a temper! You have no sympathy for people's troubles. DORINE I have no sympathy when folk talk nonsense,

Padua and Paris. Science was also diffused to a large audience through books. Each time a Galileo, Descartes, or Newton published their findings, a wave of replies followed. And each of these replies was followed by other replies so that what quickly resulted was an ever growing body of scientific literature. And, of course, there was at the same time, an increasing number of men and women who were eager for such knowledge. By the end of the 17th century, new societies and academies devoted to science were founded. There were many who agreed with Francis Bacon (15611626) that scientific work ought to be a collective enterprise, pursued cooperatively by all its practitioners. Information should be exchanged so that scientists could concentrate on different parts of a project rather than waste time in duplicate research

companies, to form public assemblies and to take part in them themselves; and she further dictates, as a consequence of this, the effort on man's part to provide a store of things that minister to his comforts and wants -- and not for himself alone, but for his wife and children and the others whom he holds dear and for whom he ought to provide; and this responsibility also stimulates his courage and makes it stronger for the active duties of life. Above all, the search after truth and its eager pursuit are peculiar to man. And so, when we have leisure from the demands of business cares, we are eager to see, to hear, to learn something new, and we esteem a desire to know the secrets or wonders of creation as indispensable to a happy life. Thus we come to understand that what is true, simple, and genuine appeals most strongly to a man's nature. To this passion for discovering truth there is added a hungering, as it were, for independence, so that a mind well-moulded

in my situation in life--" Mrs. Phillips was very glad for his compliance, but could not wait for his reason. Mr. Wickham did not play at whist, and with ready delight was he received at the other table between Elizabeth and Lydia. At first there seemed danger of Lydia's engrossing him entirely, for she was a most determined talker; but being likewise extremely fond of lottery tickets, she soon grew too much interested in the game, too eager in making bets and exclaiming after prizes to have attention for anyone in particular. Allowing for the common demands of the game, Mr. Wickham was therefore at leisure to talk to Elizabeth, and she was very willing to hear him, though what she chiefly wished to hear she could not hope to be told--the history of his acquaintance with Mr. Darcy. She dared not even mention that gentleman. Her curiosity, however, was unexpectedly relieved. Mr. Wickham began the subject himself

Russian philology

In 1697 he traveled "incognito" to Western Europe on an 18-month journey with a large Russian delegationthe so-called "Grand Embassy". He used a fake name, allowing him to escape social and diplomatic events, but since he was far taller than most others, he did not fool anyone of importance. One goal was to seek the aid of European monarchs, but Peter's hopes were dashed. France was a traditional ally of the Ottoman Sultan, and Austria was eager to maintain peace in the east while conducting its own wars in the west. Peter, furthermore, had chosen an inopportune moment: the Europeans at the time were more concerned about the War of Spanish Succession over who would succeed the childless King Charles II of Spain than about fighting the Ottoman Sultan. The "Grand Embassy" continued nevertheless. While visiting the Netherlands, Peter learned much about life in Western Europe. He studied shipbuilding in Zaandam (the house he lived

"Anna Karenina" kokkuvõte

" Karenin notices that his wife is spending a great deal of time talking with the count, and he doesn't have a problem with it initially. That starts to change, however, when everyone at the party begins to gossip and spread rumors about Anna and Vronsky. Karenin feels he has some business to straighten out with his wife: "Alexey Alexandrovich had seen nothing striking or improper in the fact that his wife was sitting with Vronsky at a separate table, in eager conversation with him about something. But he noticed that to the rest of the party this appeared to be something striking and improper. He made up his mind that he must speak of it to his wife." Karenin knows he needs to say something to Anna about the notion of an extramarital affair. He goes home early from the party to think things through. He decides that he isn't jealous, but that he is bothered mainly by what everybody else is saying

"Still a few stray boxes here and there." "You moved from San Diego, right? Nice city, but very different from New York. Do you miss the palm trees?" "I miss the dry air. The humidity here is taking some getting used to." "Wait 'til summer hits." He smiled. "So...it's your first day and you're my first assistant, so we'll have to figure this out as we go. I'm not used to delegating, but I'm sure I'll pick it up quick." I was instantly at ease. "I'm eager to be delegated to." "Having you around is a big step up for me, Eva. I'd like you to be happy working here. Do you drink coffee?" "Coffee is one of my major food groups." "Ah, an assistant after my own heart." His smile widened. "I'm not going to ask you to fetch coffee for me, but I wouldn't mind if you helped me figure out how to use the new one-cup coffee brewers they just put in the break rooms." I grinned. "No problem."

Look to't, I charge you: come your ways. OPHELIA I shall obey, my lord. Exeunt 32 SCENE IV. The platform. Enter HAMLET, HORATIO, and MARCELLUS HAMLET The air bites shrewdly; it is very cold. HORATIO It is a nipping and an eager air. HAMLET What hour now? HORATIO I think it lacks of twelve. HAMLET No, it is struck. HORATIO Indeed? I heard it not: then it draws near the season Wherein the spirit held his wont to walk. A flourish of trumpets, and ordnance shot off, within What does this mean, my lord? and invited by nobility to their estates. She was presented with a 26 volume leather bound petition signed by British women living all over the world, including the Duchess of Sutherland, the Countess of Shaftsbury, and chambermaids and bakers' wives, begging their American sisters to immediately abolish slavery. Stowe was invited to antislavery rallies, where she hid behind Victorian propriety and had her husband or her brother present comments on her behalf. Queen Victoria was eager to meet the famous author, but was urged by advisors not to receive such a controversial figure. Instead, as Stowe's sister Mary related in a letter, the Queen arranged to pass Stowe's carriage on the road, so the two women could silently nod to each other. Stowe's three European tours brought her similar acclaim. She was welcomed by expatriot American writers in Italy and forged long term friendships
