Geography of Madagascar

Ursula Potivar Geography of Madagascar Topography Madagascar is an island in the Indian Ocean off the eastern coast of southern Africa, east of Mozambique. At 587,000 square kilometres, Madagascar is the world's 46th-largest country and the fourth- largest island. Madagascar can be divided into five geographical regions: the east coast, the Tsaratanana Massif, the central highlands, the west coast, and the southwest. The east coast The east coast consists of a narrow band of lowlands, formed from the sedimentation of alluvial soils and zone, composed of steep bluffs, alternating with ravines bordering an escarpment of about 500 meters in elevation. The coastline is straight, with the exception of the bay. The east coast is considered dangerous for swimmers and sailors because of the large number of sharks that frequent the shoreline.

Long-Term Nursing Clinic, haigla

Long-Term Nursing Centre is Raivo Kolle and the head nurse of Clinic is Silvia Petrova. Offering long-term nursing care in Estonia is becoming increasingly more important due to the aging of the population. More attention is being paid to how patients cope and this requires close cooperation and communication between the patient, their next of kin, hospitals and national social welfare. The structural change that occurred in the East Tallinn Central Hospital (ETCH) in 2006, according to which medical rehabilitation was separated from the current comprehensive clinic, was the biggest change for departments engaged in long-term nursing. In addition to the long-term nursing centre at Järve, the Department of Patients without Medical Insurance is also part of the Clinic. The Long-Term Nursing Centre has 90 beds divided into three inpatient departments. One of these is the Geriatric Department and the other two are nursing care departments

The Palace of Westminster features three main towers The Central Tower, The Victoria Tower and The Clock Tower, also known as Big Ben. The Central Tower stands over the middle of the building, immediately above the Central Lobby. This tower is proof that after the fire in 1834, the palace can still look good. The Victoria Tower is the most striking property of Charles Barry's design for the New Palace of Westminster. At the time when tower was in built, it was the highest secular building in the world. Like most subtropical mammals, but unlike most bears, the giant panda does not hibernate. The Giant Panda is endangered as there are only 2,000-3,000 of them living in the wild and about 270 living in captivity. They have become endangered due to the destruction of their habitat and the variety of bamboo that is decreasing. They are also illegally hunted for their fur. To protect them, there have been many special wildlife parks set up. Elephants live in Central Africa and are the largest land animals alive today. They eat grass, twigs and some fruit. In many Asian countries elephants are symbols of wisdom and are famed for their memory and high intelligence. Once numbering in the millions, the African elephant population has dwindled to between 470,000 and 690,000 individuals because of people hunting them for their tusks. The elephant is now a protected species worldwide, also the hunting and trading of ivory has been banned to protect them.

Celtic Mythology / Keldi Mütoloogia

It is mostly through contemporary Roman and Christian sources that their mythology has been preserved. The Celts peoples who maintained either their political or linguistic identities (such as the Gaels and Brythonic tribes of Great Britain and Ireland) left vestigial remnants of their forebears' mythologies, put into written form during the Middle Ages. Though the Celtic world at its apex covered much of western and central Europe, it was not politically unified nor was there any substantial central source of cultural influence or homogeneity; as a result, there was a great deal of variation in local practices of Celtic religion (although certain motifs, for example the god Lugh, appear to have diffused throughout the Celtic world). Inscriptions to more than three hundred deities, often equated with their Roman counterparts, have survived, but of these most appear to have been genii

Basic banking

5. Financial Institutions and Services Objectives and Outcomes To give overview of main players. 5.1. Introduction It is common to distinguish between monetary financial institutions (MFIs) and other financial intermediaries. The distinction is based on the functions of institutions institutions in the first group (MFIs) play important role in the process of money creation in modern economies. Images of Chile

6,435 kilometres. Chile expanded in the late 19th century, when it incorporated its northern and southern regions. Southern Chile is rich in forests and grazing lands and features a string of volcanoes and lakes. The southern coast is a labyrinth of fjords, inlets, canals, twisting peninsulas, and islands. Prior to the coming of the Spanish in the 16th century, northern Chile was under Inca rule while the indigenous Araucanians inhabited central and southern Chile. Although Chile declared its independence in 1810, decisive victory over the Spanish was not achieved until 1818. Currently, Chile is one of South America's most stable and prosperous nations. The national flower is the copihue (Chilean bellflower), which grows in the woods of southern Chile. The coat of arms depicts the two national animals: the condor and the huemul. Chile's most popular sport is association football Chile has appeared in seven FIFA World

Time travel

And now I finally got to see and feel it. I wasn't quite sure where would The Machine bring me, but luckily it worked perfectly and brought me into the New York City. I think that it somehow works on the power of mind and it gets you exactly where and when you want to be. On the first sight it all looked wonderful, the grass was greener and the air was more easier to breathe of course I was evolved into the famous Central Park. I didn't know where to go or what to do, so I whistled, like they do in the movies, and took a cab. I asked the driver just to drive me around the city and show me what's good around there. As we where driving through the Broadway street, I discovered from the posters hanging on the wall that my all time favourite soul artist Marvin Gaye was in the town. Luckily I had some money in my pocket to pay for the taxi ride, and even for the ticket to the concert

Forestry and the forest industry in Japan

Both are coniferous species whose timber is sawn into housing materials. --------------------- Since 1868, when the Meiji restoration occurred and Japan established a decentralized market economy, the national goal for forests and forestry has been to build up the forest resource rapidly and satisfy the demand for forest products by utilizing domestic resources. In order to accomplish this, the central government has treated private forestry sympathetically through several policy instruments. In the early postwar period, the government subsidized half the planting cost in order to rapidly reforest areas destroyed in the war. Afforestation on bare land was completed within a decade, and then reforestation from natural to artificial forest came to be regarded as important. After 1957, 48% of the planting cost for such reforestation was
