About a boy Nick Hornby I read a book named About a boy. It was a book full of romance, serious problems, also full of comedy . This story is about a man called Will and a boy called Marcus, how did they change each other lives. Will lives a very comfortable lifestyle in London, thanks to substantial royalties left to him from the successful Christmas song that his father composed. Will doesn´t need to work and spends most of his free time watching television, and reading about pop culture. When Will's friends, Christine and John ask him to be the godfather of their second

Ameerika kirjandus alates I maailmasõjast kuni tänapäevani.

The most interesting style was modernist combined with realism. The most interesting writer of this period was John Dos Passos 1896-1970. He is linked to the 1930's, the period of fear, unemployment, the rise of facism, market crashing. Came from an interesting background, grandfather was portugese, his mother came from puritan New England. Father was a lawyer and importand figure on wall street. He was born into a well off family and this is a paradox about him. Upper middle class family, yet his political views were very radical, he was extremely well educated. He was hostile against the social order in the usa. The central theme in his writings is the criticism of basic institutions of american society. Interestingly, he wasnt just a social critic but one of the best experimentalists. Anti war novel called ,,Three soldiers". Dos Passos went to Europe, served for a while. Three main characters, three young soldiers

Movie review

To make matters worse, Scott admits that he has a crush on Amy, only viewing Elizabeth as a friend. Elizabeth attempts to raise money for the surgery by participating in her 7th grade class car wash in provocative clothing and by manipulating parents to give her money for more school supplies and tutoring, but her efforts are not enough. Amy, acting on the growing resentment between them due to her pursuit of Scott and ignoring of school rules, attempts to warn the principal about Elizabeth's embezzlement scheme, but he dismisses her claims as groundless. Elizabeth later learns that the teacher of the class with the highest state test scores will receive a $5,700 bonus. With this knowledge, Elizabeth decides to change her style of teaching, forcing the class to study intensely for the upcoming test. However, the change is not enough and the students have low scores on their quizzes, frustrating her even more. Meanwhile, she

The Polar Boy

is very typical for dramas and films like that are quite predictable. In contrast to other drama films I have seen, “The Polar Boy” is quite unusual and memorable. The characters were in the kind of situations where they have to decide whether they trust their feelings, risk their lives believing in love or trust some stereotypes and fears they have. Although Mattias and Hannah made a lot of mistakes, they always tried to help each other. The film made me think more about people, who have mental illnesses, because the movie tried to show mental problems as they really are. This movie can deeply affect the public, drawing attention to the needs of mental patients, and increasing tolerance towards psychologically ill people. In conclusion I can say, that “The Polar Boy” is a powerful movie and it is definitely worth seeing. It is about hope and trust and it shows how kindness and love can cure even the deepest wounds.
