Crime

Crime In the sociological field, crime is the breach of a rule or law for which some governing authority or force may ultimately prescribe a punishment. The word crime originates from the Latin crimen. Even in society there are always black sheep and these people are called 'criminals'. Estonia is a relatively safe country, although there are some situations, where people should be more careful crime has been increased lately. We could count different type of crimes, but most common are smuggling and robberies. Many people like something, what do not belong to them. On the one hand, news are talking about shoplifting, bank robbery and vandalism. When looking for the reasons why people commit crimes I can only say what I believe to be sure of, and it is that individuals go against laws because they choose so, as criminal behaviour is a matter of choice. People want to have somebody`s

Crime

Crime It is a disease, yet one of the basic doings of humanity. Crime has existed since the beginning of time. Ever since Kain slayed Abel, there has been crime. Though not only murder is a crime. Thievery, rape, arsonism and many more jolly things like that- they are all things that can be placed in a big metal barrel with the word crime written on it in blood. Actually everything illegal belongs there. And those who do it, they should be burned alive. There is no cure for being a thief, arsonist or a murderer. Only death can cure it. It is easy to become a criminal. For example, if you get sacked from your job, yet you have a family to feed, then it is easy to pocket some wallets or purses on the street and sell them. That would be the begining of a most likely long cycle, that usually ends with death or imprisonment

crime control strategies. The classical approach holds people to choose freely among alternatives in behaviour. In this view, the perpetrator plans his or her actions before carrying them out. The social environment in which the person is amidst of, is a key factor in causes of criminal behaviour, with weak or broken bonds to family, school, and religion being the catalyst of criminal behaviour. They may not see the benefits of adhering to conventional social values and believe crime is a way to improve their social conditions. Personal choice weighs over and dominates the reasons of individual actions. Through rational conscious thoughts one may select the temptations of preference. One may think of the consequences of one's actions or think that one is too smart to get caught. Regardless of what is coming into us from external sources, we choose what we want and what seems most appealing. People balance the risks and costs involved in doing a certain act. Upon

Crime in Estonia

The trend was started by Raivo Roosna and Aleks Lepajõe who robbed the Tillander store in Helsinki in 1985. In December 2006, it was estimated that Estonian criminals were responsible for 140 robberies of jewellery and watch stores in Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Sweden during the last three years. The value of the lost property is estimated to be 25 million Euros.[1] Today transnational Estonian organised crime is predominantly about smuggling drugs, alcohol, and other illegal or high-tax goods from Russia to Finland, Sweden, and elsewhere in the Baltic Sea. Estonia is a relatively safe country, although there are some situations, where people should be more careful crime has been increased lately. We could count different type of crimes, but most common are smuggling and robberies. Many people like something, what do not belong to them. On the one hand, news are

Raport on teenage crime

Report on teenage crime Introduction: The aim of this report is to help find vent for teenages crimes problems. The information for the report was obtained from internet. The most common crimes: More and more teenages are being arrested for narcotic drug crimes, including the use of weapons in crimes. Older teenagers had higher violent crime victimization than did younger teenagers. Why? There are many ways to minimise teenage crime. Possible solutions 1. We have to enlarge collaboration with teenages. 2. More hobbies for them like sport or music 3. catch them in to joint action 4. more different interesting opportunities 5. Practice different social skills with him/her, such as greeting others, "breaking the ice," asking questions, and listening well. You also can role-play ways to resist peer pressure, such as offers of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs from other kids. 6

Some are accidental, others planned. People have different opinions what should be done with criminals. Some say that as primitive people they need primitive punishment. Therefore they would just be sentenced a large fine or sent to jail. I think that putting criminals in prison should help and change them, but in reality it doesn’t go like that. Even if they get out of prison or pay their fine, they usually fall back to their old ways and commit another crime. Criminals have different backgrounds so they have different reasons for their actions. bipolaarsele häirele ka narkootikumide sõltuvus ( patients with comorbid substance abuse), oli risk suurenenud arvestataval määral ning seetõttu nägid uurimise koostajad vajadust uuteks analüüsideks ja kontrolliks seoses isikutega, kellel on tuvastatud bipolaarse häire ja narkootikumide sõltuvus. Agatha Christie "Partners in crime"

I think I like it even more than the other stories by Agatha Christie I have read because the characters are very lively and humorous. The book consists of many mysteries. They all differ from each other a little bit and that is fun to read. There are not only murders but they also discovered a gang of counterfeiters, a gang of drug smugglers, a jewel robbery etc. They are all solved with cleverness and a bit of luck. It is called Partners in Crime because they always help each other. When one does not come with a solution then the other one does. All in all it is a great Agatha Christie novel. I would recommend it to everyone who likes good an thrilling detective stories.

How to prevent petty crime?

How to prevent petty crime? Nowadays danger is everywhere. Everything can happen with you or near you, when you are not careful enough. What do you need to do to feel safer? There are plenty of things that you can do to avoid pretty crime. If you drive somewhere a car, then wherever you park do not forget to lock your doors and pay attention that your windows are also closed. If you forget to do it, someone may steal your car. When you walk in the street or you take a bus then always check that your pockets are closed and your bag is closed. You never know when someone wants to steal your mobile phone or your wallet. If you want to feel safer then always check your items in your pockets or keep them empty.

What in future can make more problem, what was. The difference is that most of us have some self-control, but in time of need human beings can change drastically their personality. Social Problems

Social Problems Crime In the sociological field, crime is the breach of a rule or law for which some governing authority or force may ultimately prescribe a punishment. The word crime originates from the Latin crimen. When society deems informal relationships and sanctions insufficient to create and maintain a desired social order, there may result more formalized systems of social control imposed by a government, or more broadly, by a State. With the institutional and legal machinery at their disposal, agents of the State can compel individuals to conform to behavioural codes and punish those that do not

A person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be

A person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be treated as an equal member of society In our society there is a lot of people who have an opinion, that a person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be treated as an equal member of society. Life of these people become more complicated than life of people, who hasn´t been punished. There are many issues and problems that come up and bring among some difficulties. First of all, there is prejudice, that a person who has committed a crime will do it again and they are not trustful, therefore they are treated with caution. You have to earn a person´s trust to be in a good relation with him/her and it is hard if you

Harsher punishments will reduce the amount of crime.

Harsher punishments will reduce the amount of crime. Is it safe to live your life nowadays? Unfortunately it does not seem like that. Almost everyone can say that they have had some contact with crimes, it can vary from a minor offence to even a murder. But how can we reduce the amount of crime? Are harsher punishments the solution? Firstly I think that if the punishments are as weak as they are now, it won't make the criminals think. They get punished and still commit crimes. Probably the biggest punishment for a petty theft is community service which isn't much of a punishment. It gives the feeling that a person can do what he wants, live like he wants and nothing happens. Furthermore I think that the life in prison is actually quite good. A place

Report - how to make buildings more crime-proof

Recommendation: Valuable items should be put away, where it is impossible to see them from the window. 2 Security systems Another thing to mention is that people do not give much attention to the security of their houses. That decreases dread of being caught and criminals are getting more and more impudent. Recommendation: Security systems and security cameras should be installed in the buildings. That increases the chance that the criminals will be caught or they dare not to commit the crime. 3 Dogs Finally, burglars can easily hide themselves behind the trees and other objects in the garden. They watch for what happens in the house and that helps them to plan their crime. Recommendation: House-owners who have a garden should take a dog. Burglars are usually afraid of dogs. In addition, dogs bark if they hear or see something that does not belong in the garden. Conclusion Increase in crime is a big problem. However, I think we can tackle it if everybody will

What can be done to prevent petty crime?

What can be done to prevent petty crime? Nowadays more and more young people have started comit petty crime and people believe that thouse can be prevented. I support this view for a variety of reasons. To start with petty crime can be prevented with teenagers, the problematical ones in particular should participate to educational courses organised by the state where they can learn everything about these petty crimes an also how to avoid getting in the middle of them. It is very important to organise this meetings in the poor districts where teenagers are prone to ilicit activities such as pickpocketing or even burglery. Another method of reducing petty crime is that the people should learn how to protect their

Is It a Crime to Download Music Free of Charge?

Is It a Crime to Download Music Free of Charge? Nowadays, a lot of people listen to music on their computer and most of the time they download it illegally. I obviously understand that it is illegal and we should not do it but the question is, should we be able to do it legally. To begin with, music is a big part of our lives. If children were not given the ability to cheer them up with music, the depression levels would definitely be higher, as well as less motivation in children. For an example, the average American child listens to 4 hours of music in a day. I personally listen to at least 5 hours of music a day and all that from the computer when I get home. Secondly, the artists would not have such big crowds at their shows and concerts. This way, the artists are getting more recognition and popularity. They are even getting more feedback, which songs people like more. Thirdly, downloading can lead to more p...

Would less TV and movie violence lead to fewer violent crimes

Would less TV and movie violence lead to fewer violent crimes TV and movies become more and more popular in each year. Reason why we enjoy that kind of entertainment is because of the excitement and fun it offers. There are lots of genres in movies and TV series but most watched of them is action where plenty of crime is shown. Because of the rise in crime and at the same time in action movies or series people have started worrying that these kind of movies affect people to commit more crimes. Firstly, action films/ TV series always include robberys, explosions, car chases, shooting and all the other more little crimes. Usually these movies/series have about the same plot, where there are good guys and bad guys fighting and chasing each other. Often in the end good guys somehow still capture the criminals and live happily forward

English story "Fatal Walk"

Fatal walk It was a warm and cloudless Friday evening in summer but Angelina didn't want to go to a party. She went for a walk at a park. She had a great evening and she enjoyed all this incredible nature in the park. Angelina was glad that she hadn't gone to party because she felt herself so relaxed. There were a few people in the park, birds were singing and not so warm evening sun was still shining. I felt a little bit chilly myself and it was getting darker too so I decided to go back home. My way back wasn't very pleasurable. I had always been afraid of those dark unlit side- streets but that walk had been good for me so I wasn't afraid that time. But then I heard screaming from one street. I didn't dare to go there but I peeked around the corner and I saw two men fighting with each other. One man had a gun and he was wearing a black mask. The other man was a typical businessman. I didn't h...

Terrorism and fighting against it

Terrorism and fighting against it Terrorism is not new and even though it has been used since the beginning of recorded history it can be relatively hard to define. Terrorism has been described differently as both a tactic and strategy; a crime and a holy duty; a justified reaction to oppression and an unforgivable abomination. Obviously, a lot depends on whose point of view it is being represented. Terrorism has often been an effective tactic for the weaker side in a conflict. Terrorism is most common in nations with the average political freedom, and is least common in the most democratic nations. In some cases, terrorism has been a means to carry on a conflict without the

Pros and Cons of the Capital Punishment

Pros and Cons of the Capital Punishment. The death penalty is a controversial issue in most countries, but it is completely abolished in our country. Arguments for and against it are based on moral, practical, religious and emotional groups. On the one hand, there are advocates of the death penalty, who argue that it deters crime, improves community by making them sure, that convicted criminals would never find their way out onto the streets to offend again and it is cheaper than keeping convicted criminals in high security prison for the rest of their natural lives. On the other hand, there are opponents of the death penalty claim that `capital punishment cheapens human's life and government on the same low moral level as criminals who have taken life.` personally, I strongly support this idea

Social problems in England - tekst

As it is a widespread social problem it's also one of the worst ones, because the hatred directed to different races or even nationalities makes the foreign people feel bad and also to hate the locals. This brings up many conflicts like the bombings in 2005 (when 4 islamic suicide bombers killed thmeselves and 52 civilians), but usually the conflicts are smaller, like brawls between different ethnic groups or mockery and insults. 3)In 1999 was the biggest racism related crime in the last 3 decades, when a Neo-Nazi David Copeland placed homemade nailbombs at public places directed to african and bangladeshian communities and killing 13 and injuring 139 people.,. Petty crimes are commited everywhere nowadays and include various traffic violations, drunkenness in public, disturbing the peace and public nuisances. England has one of the worst crime rates among developed nations for burglaries and robberies

planet in the decades to come will be global climate disruption due to the buildup of human-generated greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. • People around the world are beginning to address the problem by reducing their carbon footprint through less consumption and better technology. • But unsustainable human population growth can overwhelm those efforts, leading us to conclude that we not only need smaller footprints, but fewer feet. Elevated Crime Rate • As human overpopulation drives resources and basic necessities, such as food and water, to become scarcer, there will be increased competitiveness for these resources which leads to elevated crime rates due to drug cartels and theft by people in order to survive. • It has been observed that the countries which have balanced population, crime rate is very low in such regions. When people are not provided with the basic necessities, it elevates crime rate."

You can take the ferry east to Finland or take the seven hour train journey across the country to Gothenburg. As for the young woman, she may have a lot in common with the old man; Alternatively, she may be interested in his money.

Living in the Big Apple

can still have a lot of fun on budget. Furthermore, there are a lot of shops in New York which are open 24 hours a day, so everything is at your fingertips. On the other hand, there is a lot of pollution and noise in the Big Apple, but I think it's acceptable for a hudge city like New York. Besides the pollution and noise, there is a much bigger problem in the Big Apple and that problem is crime. It's becoming a dangerous place to live, but the clampdown on crime has improved the city tremendously. The agressive nature of New Yorkers is also a problem peole are pushing you out of the way on the subway or in the street. So there are both positive and negative aspects to live in the Big Apple, and if you are thinking of living there you need to weigh up the pros and cons.

Capital Punishment Should Be Abolished

Capital Punishment Should (not) Be Abolished Capital punishment or the death penalty is the killing of the person as the punishment for offence. To get the capital punishment, you need to do a very serious crime, like homicide, or even more serious than that. The pros of a capital punishment are that if the person gets that punishment, he or she will never get a chance to do something that cruel again. Sometimes the criminals, who get a prison sentence, do something illegal again, after that punishment. Second pro is that it's cheaper for the country to kill the person, than to pay for his/her food and clothes for the rest of his/her life in the prison.

For and against capital punishment

Pain is a strong feeling, something you will never forget if experienced. Haunting nightmeres from the depths from the worst memories will probably never leave from victims dreams. In that case a capital punishment is and should be the right thing to do, to make the others feel safe again. Death of a culprit may decrease the pain, but will never make it go away? It is always extremely hard to live with knowing that you or your close one is been misused or suffered form a crime. In this occasion death of a convict seems to be the best way to revenge for the sorrowness and pain that has been inflicted . In the other hand, many people cannot live with knowing that someone just died for the things one did, just becuse of a slight malformation, which had nothing to do with his free will. Now he is dead. Does it make the feeling any better, or did it delete all the ill memories or anger? The only answer is : no, it did not.

Life in town vs Life in the country

services are hardly available. Usually people prefer to live in the Town, because in the Country don't have job or it is dfficult to find it. Many schools, post offices and store will be closed, because there aren't enough people who will need it. If in the Country should be happen any emergency, it will takes time to deal the situation, which put people to worry. Life in Town is completely different. For example : huge shopping centres, better chance to get a job and crime. Huge shopping centres locate in Town, because population is bigger than in the Country. In Town there are lot of opportunities to get a job, unlike in the Country. Violence and crime is popular in Town, although in the Country it is possible too. Population of Town is so much bigger, that's why we can see broken bus-stops, defiled shcools and so on. In addition, I think that life in the Country seems so much better, in the other hand it is harder too

ailing sectors of the economy. Inflation, previously a bright spot, is expected to remain in the double digits. Depressed economic conditions have led to increased civil unrest, including gang violence fueled by the drug trade. In 2004, the government faces the difficult prospect of having to achieve fiscal discipline in order to maintain debt payments while simultaneously attacking a serious and growing crime problem that is hampering economic growth. Crime Some areas of Jamaica, particularly cities such as Kingston, experience high levels of crime and violence. Jamaica has had one of the highest murder rates in the world for many years. Former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson described the situation as ,, a national challenge of unprecedented proportions". In 2005, Jamaica had 1674 murders for a murder rate of 58 per 100 000 people.
