Is It a Crime to Download Music Free of Charge ?
Nowadays, a lot of people listen to music on their computer and most of the time they download it illegally. I obviously understand that it is illegal and we should not do it but the question is, should we be able to do it legally.
To begin with, music is a big part of our lives . If children were not given the ability to cheer them up with music, the depression levels would definitely be higher , as well as less motivation in children. For an example, the average American child listens to 4 hours of music in a day. I personally listen to at least 5 hours of music a day and all that from the computer when I get home.
Secondly, the artists would not have such big crowds at their shows and concerts. This way, the artists are getting more recognition and popularity . They are even getting more feedback, which songs people like more.
Thirdly, downloading can lead to more purchases of CDs and such. Children especially, who have a favourite band or artist, want to support them or show other friends that they have a material piece from the band. More or less, they are supporting the artists by purchasing their merch.
In contrast , though, the people who do listen and do not support them, will not be making any profit from that. And that might lead to the band going into debt , in the worst scenario. In addition , you might be making them feel betrayed by downloading their music.
To sum up, I feel that pirating music is not the biggest problem out there right now and artists already making enough money from concerts and merch. Though as a result , we are making them feel bad.

In the following class, learners swap reviews with their partner and give each other feedback on: 1. In pairs, learners choose two things from popular arts culture that they are familiar with but which they are likely to have different opinions on, and for which they could easily find reviews online – for example, • how successfully they addressed the task (‘compare, explain, recommend’) a classic film and its recent remake, or two pieces of popular music, or two books by the same author. • any useful or interesting language (You could use the sample Part 2 task from this guide as a prompt if your students have trouble thinking • whether these reviews have made them reconsider their original opinions and why! of anything.) 2. Give the students time to discuss their opinions about these two things in their pairs. For example: Self-assessment

Television shows us many interesting programmes. But again there is a disadvantage here: we watch TV every evening, and it begins to dominate our lives. My friend told me that when his TV-set broke down, he and his family found that they had more time to do things and to talk to each other. There are other arguments for and against television. Very often the programmes are bad. Sometimes they show too much violence in films and news programmes. There is also too much pop music and ads. Ads on the whole are convenient for grown-ups. But is it good for children to watch all those ads where they show all kinds of underwear and what not? Questions: 1. What advantages does television have? 2. What disadvantages does television have? 3. What did my friend find when his TV-set broke down? 4. What do they sometimes show? Vocabulary: entertainment -- to turn on -- passive -- to dominate -- to break down -- argument -- violence -- pop music -- ads (advertisemets) --

Very mildly. The landscape has changed in three ways: Technologygot its hands on some steroids. In 2000, we were using theWebon relatively large screens, with a mouse or touchpad and a keyboard. And we were sitting down, often at a desk, when we did. Now we use tiny computers that we carry around with us all the time, with stilland video cameras, magical maps that know exactly where we are, and our entire libraries of books and music built in. And are always connected to the Internet. Oh, and they’re phones, too. Heck, I can use my “phone” to …book a restaurant reservation in seconds …adjust the heat in my house from anywhere …or deposit a check without going to an ATM It’s no flying car (which, come to think of it, we were promised we’d have by now), but it’s pretty impressive. TheWebitself kept improving.Even when I’m using my desktop

wanted to be assured of good merchandise who disdained the low-priced item. I'm confident that besides the "expensive = good" rule, there's a flip side, "inexgensive _ bad" rule that applies to our thinking as well. After all, in English, the word cheap doesn't just mean inexpensive; it has come to mean inferior, too. A Japanese proverb makes this point eloquently: "There's nothing mo~ apensive thm that which comes for free." become a trigger feature for quality, and a dramatic increase in price alone had led to a dramatic increase in sales among the quality-hungry buyers. l Betting the Shortcut Odds It is easy to fault the tourists for their foolish purchase decisions, but a close look offers a kinder view. These were people who had been brought up on the rule, "You get what you pay for" and who had seen that rule borne out over and over in their lives
