Referaat UPS ehk katkematu toite allikas 2007 UPS ehk katkematu toite allikas UPS (uninterruptible power supply) on patareidega kast, mis hoolitseb selle eest, et arvutil pidevalt voolu oleks ning äkitsed pingekõikumised liiga ei teeks. Enamik hetkelisi voolukatkestusi on sellised, millest arvutid omal jõul üle saavad, aga kord paar aastas kipub ikka pahasti minema, st arvuti lülitatakse magusal tööajal korraks välja. UPS on mõeldud väikeste voolukatkestuste "üle elamiseks" ja kui UPSi akud on lõplikult tühjaks saanud, ei suuda ka tema imet teha. UPSist peaks abi olema 1015 minutit, mille jooksul jõutakse kõrvaldada enamus suuremaid voolukatkestusi (keskmiselt kulub selleks 68 min.). Lühikatkestuste ajale on juurde arvestatud väike varu, mis kulub andmete salvestamiseks, programmide sulgemiseks ja arvuti väljalülitamiseks juhul, kui on tegu pikema voolukatkestusega.
