Philosophy today

Philosophy Today The Great Divide Most contemporary philosophers follow one of two approaches "Continental" philosophy "Analytic" philosophy Continental philosophy is more influential on the European continent Analytic philosophy is predominant in the major research universities in the English-speaking world Analytic Philosophy Analytic philosophy developed from attempts in the early 20th century to make our concepts precise. The model of this procedure was science. Emphasis in contemporary analytic philosophy is on language and meaning, and meaning is understood as a relation between language and objective reality. Thus, understanding the structure of language is what reveals the structure of reality. Continental Philosophy

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling Hello! My name is Sander and today I talk about Homeschooling. Homeschooling is becoming more popular every day, with a growth rate of 7 percent per year. There are about two million children currently learning at home. Homeschooled kids do well on standardized tests and are welcome at colleges and universities. Pros: Individual teaching attention Continuous population growth is leading to overcrowded schools in many areas. Add this to the recent economic struggles, with many schools laying off teachers or closing altogether. This means that teachers are more overwhelmed than ever, often handling classes of 40 or more children at a time. Personalized learning Another important consideration in the pros and cons of homeschooling is your ability to

Education in Croatia

• jezična gimnazija (with a focus on foreign languages and with less science) • klasična gimnazija (with a curriculum centered around classics, namely Latin and Ancient Greek) • opća gimnazija (which covers a general education and is not as specific). Education in gymnasia lasts for four years. As a general education school gymnasium is a transition to the professional training in colleges and universities. Gymnasia are harder to get into than vocational or art schools and are generally harder to complete. • Vocational schools: that teach a student a certain craft, such as cooking or carpentry, and last either three or four years. Schools of economics and engineering go under this category too. • Art schools: that focus on visual art, music and similar. They take four years.

role in my development for almost three years now. When asked what is the main purpose of university, most people would say that it is preparing students for different proffessions, which would later be the driving force of the country. But I think it is more complicated than that. Going to university is a logical step to a ambitious young high school graduate and some even don’t consider other possibilities. On the other hand, universities are getting a lot of critic because some say that the goal of universities are to produce as many diploma graduates as possible. I think that universities are places where young people who doesn’t know yet what they want from life, can use this time to discover their true interests. Im sure that many young high school graduates who start study in university are at first not very passionate about their speciality because they dont know what to expect and if their choice is right

History The university was built in the end of 12th century, although the exact date remains unclear. After a dispute between students and townsfolk broke out in 1209, some of the academics at Oxford fled north-east to the town of Cambridge, where the University of Cambridge was founded. The two universities have since had a long history of competition with each other. Interesting to know Oxford is consistently ranked in the world's top 10 universities. Oxford's motto is Dominus Illuminatio Mea (Latin). Motto in English: "The Lord is my Light". consequences. Like if we leave the school without finishing it. Then we don't have the needed education and then we can't get so good jobs. Nowadays to get a good and well paid job you need a good education. And when we don't then we have to accept with something not so good. If we fail to do something that we have planned. Like when we fail an exam. Then our school results aren't so good, that all affects our future and our plans to go to colleges and universities. And when we don't achieve our goals, then our life is a little bit more complicated. We can't go to the universities we wish. We can all avoid some bad things and wrong decisions we make, by thinking everything trough and by planning our future. We have to make our goals clear and we have to try to achieve them. Life is unfair, but never surrender and always keep trying for better results. Because when you surrender you won't achieve anything.

Why did I choose university education over vocational training?

Why did I choose university education over vocational training? An essay Why more and more people nowadays tend to go to universities rather than to vocational schools? Will going to the university open all the doors in our lives? Is it necessary to have a higher education in order to survive in today’s economy? Those are just some of the questions that may arise when we start talking about the topic. Going to the university was once only for the children from wealthier families. Now as we have a lot of free higher education available, many people tend to use this wonderful opportunity

English essay The Future of Education

The Future of Education The future of education is not very promising for younger generations. The face of education is changing rapidly because of direct injection of computer technology into schools. Online courses soon will prevail over the traditional high school and college education. Online Universities will create classes sponsored by companies. These companies will direct the universities on the materials of the course. The company will then offer those who pass the course a job. This will create a worker who will not be able to do his job without a computer. Teachers will take a backseat in these courses. There is also a chance that Teachers will have an easier job in the future, they will instruct the students only if needed. Also on the horizon are smart objects. These objects are geared more to small children then those that are in high school or college

Also why do pay the university costs yourself is that you already have education free till the end of high school. So what do you want more from the Government? Government makes big spendings to education because they know that this is their country's future at stake. Even lunches till high school are free for everyone. Therefore there's not much reasons to complain. In conclusion I think it would definitely be a respectable decision from the Government if the universities are to be free. But the affects to the budget would be enormous. At the moment the Government's budget probably wouldn't handle it well. All in all the situation now is perfectly normal, just with some slight side effects.

students, the students in Estonia are often unable to learn Chinese as fast as the overseas students in China. The lecturer believes that the reason why the overseas students in China learn faster than students in Estonia is the immersion to the language environment outside school, where they hear and must use Chinese daily. While the language environment in Estonia is lacking in the possibilities for students to learn Chinese, universities could encourage the learning and increase the motivation of students by organising more events and activities where the students have a possibility to use the language. The language teachers have also more responsibilities in China than in Estonia. In China they are required to organize various activities such as language practice lessons during weekends which are optional for students. The consulting hours when the lecturers are required to

There are two ways to continue your studies. The first choice is to continue the academic education in universities. It is the best way to educate yourself and later after graduation there will be some jobs with quite big salaries. The other way to continue your studies is to get vocational education. The importance of education

The importance of education Education is one of the most important part in our today's society. Children are our future and educating them is really necessary. In the first place, giving children education is really important, because they are our future leaders, teachers and they have to develop our government for centuries. Moreover, schools, highschools and even universities teach some of the things you will have to encounter in your life after studies and have to step to work-life. In Fact, you will probably have to make presentations, CV-s and know how to communicate correctly with people. Furthermore, education gives you experience you can always relay on. It is shown in your documents that you will have for rest of your life. Different jobs require different level of education. For example, if you have documents

James Hiller

Instead, he turned out to have a talent for mathematics and physics, and won a science scholarship to the University of Toronto. There, he and fellow student Albert Prebus invented the world's first practical electron microscope. Their first device magnified objects to 7,000 times their original size. Electron microscopes work by focussing a beam of electrons, rather than a beam of light. My life without the Internet

The Internet is the latest in a series of technological breakthroughs in interpersonal communication, following the telegraph, telephone, radio, and television. The humanity of today wouldn't imagine the life without the internet anymore. Internet is now dominating in the communication between republics too. The evidence suggests that the Internet has blended into the rhythms of everyday life: the Internet is used at work, in schools, in universities, and hospitals etc. It is used for a wide variety of purposes, such as surfing for information, working, playing online games, and just chatting. The fact that people are not interacting in visible public spaces does not mean that they are in isolation. It is just sometimes quicker and easier way to find needed information and for some people who simply don't have time to meet and have a chat in a cafe or somewhere it might be the only way to chat.

If I were the Minister of Education in Estonia

happenings and etc. Especially history, because we are learning from textbooks that are missing a lot of information that has been discovered after the book was printed. Also I would change most of the subjects for optional, that students can choose the best subjects for them. I think that the absences wouldn't be so punishable by the school, because I think it's your own choice if you go to school or not, just like in universities. There should be more e-learning lessons, because when I can't or do not want to go to school today then I can do the lessons at home on my own and then submit them to the teacher. If I were the minister of education, then I would do all that what makes kids love school. All teachers should love children and also love working with them. Teachers should believe in children's abilities. At least in elementary schools falling out should be impossible

Which country you would like to visit?

I´ve reasearched and also heard that Australia is a pretty safe country and especially good for beach life, partying, relaxing with friendly locals, wide-open spaces, long self-drive trips and fun city life, though a bit short of arts and culture. It's also a popular holiday work destination. It is said that if you have chance to stay In Australia and you want to study here, then don`t think anything just move to Australia and start a new life. There are numerous Universities in Australia that are internationally recognized. So if ever I a graduate from these University, the percentage of being offered a job opportunity for me is higher than with graduates from other school. However Australia will make things conceivable in a good way. It will not just make you feel at home but allow you to enjoy all the sceneries and beaches like you've never imagined. Next year I would definitely visit Australia to witness the magnificent view.
