The King’s Speech

he loved forced him to resign. He passed the power to his younger brother Prince Albert. For Prince Albert this was the worst nightmare because he was unconfident and unstable because of stammering. He knew very well that almost the only role the king has is to speak to his people something he was unable to do. After inviting several doctors to the Palace his wife introduced him with an Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue. Lionel was an ordinary man, but with unconventional approach - he started to call Prince Albert as Bertie, refused to visit his patient at his Palace etc. However the special speech exercises and gradually strengthening friendship with Lionel helped King George VI to get back his confidence and ability to give speeches. His radio- address where he led his country to the war became a turning point. Winston Churchill has been saying earlier in the film that "when Germans will come, we would need a king we can all stand behind"

largest producer. Two of the largest producers of petrochemicals in North America are located in central and north central Alberta. In both Red Deer and Edmonton, world class polyethylene and vinyl manufacturers produce products shipped all over the world, and Edmonton's oil refineries provide the raw materials for a large petrochemical industry to the east of Edmonton. The Athabasca Oil Sands (sometimes known as the Athabasca Tar Sands) have estimated unconventional oil reserves approximately equal to the conventional oil reserves of the rest of the world, estimated to be 1.6 trillion barrels. With the development of new extraction methods such as steam assisted gravity drainage, which was developed in Alberta, bitumen and synthetic crude oil can be produced at costs close to those of conventional crude. Many companies employ both conventional strip mining and non-conventional methods to extract the bitumen from the oil sands

sand and water, as in the Athabasca oil sands in Canada, where it is usually referred to as crude bitumen. In Canada, bitumen is considered a sticky, black, tar-like form of crude oil which is so thick and heavy that it must be heated or diluted before it will flow. Venezuela also has large amounts of oil in the Orinoco oil sands, although the hydrocarbons trapped in them are more fluid than in Canada and are usually called extra heavy oil. These oil sands resources are called unconventional oil to distinguish them from oil which can be extracted using traditional oil well methods. Between them, Canada and Venezuela contain an estimated 3.6 trillion barrels (570×109 m3) of bitumen and extra-heavy oil, about twice the volume of the world's reserves of conventional oil. Petroleum is used mostly, by volume, for producing fuel oil and petrol, both important "primary energy" sources. 84 percent by volume of the hydrocarbons present in

commercials created by Martin Solow for Vita Herring, featuring "The Beloved Herring Maven." maverick – The modern definition of maverick (“an unusual person who has different ideas and ways of behaving from other people, and is often very successful”) differs somewhat from the original meaning of “calf or yearling found without an owner's brand", derived in 1867 from Samuel A. Maverick, Texas cattle owner who was known for not branding his calves. The sense of "individualist, unconventional person" was first recorded 1886. OK – The orgin of the super popular Americansim OK is widely disputed. There is a theory that OK was first used by Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States. According to another theory, the term came from the election slogan by the O.K. Club, boosters of Martin Van Buren's 1840 re-election bid, referencing to his nickname Old Kinderhook. Third theory is that

more strikingly original. Born in New England, Dickinson spent most of her life in quiet isolation detached from events of her time. Her poems are extremely personal and intimate. Recurring themes include nature and death and, although she had rejected orthodox religion, much of her work contains a strong sense of spirituality. Many of her poems, however, are ironic and witty suggesting that their creator was a woman of great humour. Dickinson's style was completely unconventional and showed a total disregard for standard poetic forms. Her technique is so innovative that her work was considered unacceptable for publication. Apart from a few poems, most of her work was published posthumously. Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) Life Family background She was born in Amherst, Massachusetts. It ´s original believes and traditions makes it one of the world´s unconventional culture. Their “dreamtimes”, dances and music is very original and different from other cultures. Aborigines took good care of their land and land was spiritual and an economic resource . They also had good knowledge of the land, its creatures and plants. Because of that they had developed many plant and animal based medicines. There were no wars for territory because of their strong believes that by going into other peoples land they might make the spirits angry

in life, even leave her room. Dickinson was a prolific private poet, though fewer than a dozen of her nearly eighteen hundred poems were published during her lifetime. The work that was published during her lifetime was usually altered significantly by the publishers to fit the conventional poetic rules of the time. Dickinson's poems are unique for the era in which she wrote; they contain short lines, typically lack titles, and often utilize slant rhyme as well as unconventional capitalization and punctuation. Many of her poems deal with themes of death and immortality, two subjects which infused her letters to friends. Walter Whitman Walter Whitman (May 31, 1819 March 26, 1892) was an American poet, essayist, journalist, and humanist. He was a part of the transition between Transcendentalism and realism, incorporating both views in his works. inevitable price hikes. Trying to avoid the price revolution is surely seen by some inside Ukraine as a potent argument for joining post-Soviet reintegration schemes, like Belarus has done. Others in Kiev found virtue in necessity. In the end the price revolution would benefit Ukraine by making long-postponed reforms inevitable. Perhaps as well, excessive dependence on Russia could be minimized by developing domestic sources of energy, like unconventional gas. Others took solace in the possibility that Ukraine's export prices might in the end increase faster than those of Russia's exports. Possibilities for the future have been explored, but meanwhile populist policies have continued unabated. The Yanukovych government has refused to increase gas prices for households, as demanded by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a key condition for continued financial support. Waste of energy by households thus continues unabated. There

His complex three-dimensional forms, when represented in traditional two-dimensional plans, 2D sections, and 2D elevations appear to be even more complex (Lindsey, 2001). Architects and engineers have embraced steel as their material of choice for building complex structures like the Guggenheim Museum, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Experience Music Project, Seattle Central Library, Denver Art Museum, Royal Ontario Museum, etc. The unconventional geometric forms of these buildings, coupled with stringent earthquake regulations meant that a fundamentally different approach was needed to mitigate risks, improve coordination, meet the project deadline and stay within the budget. This thesis attempts to study the effects that three-dimensional software tools and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are having on the design, fabrication and construction of complex steel structures. The research is based on qualitative case study

a quagmire of killing. Reconstruction, which began to fail almost immediately after it was begun, further disappointed Whitman. His later poetry, which displays a marked insecurity about the place of poetry and the place of emotion in general (see in particular "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd"), is darker and more isolated. Whitman's style remains consistent throughout, however. The poetic structures he employs are unconventional but reflect his democratic ideals. Lists are a way for him to bring together a wide variety of items without imposing a hierarchy on them. Perception, rather than analysis, is the basis for this kind of poetry, which uses few metaphors or other kinds of symbolic language. Anecdotes are another favored device. By transmitting a story, often one he has gotten from another individual, Whitman hopes to give his readers a

PÕHILISED POLIITILIST OSALUST JA KODANIKEÜHISKONDA ISELOOMUSTAVAD JOONED Ameerika Ühendriikide kultuur väärtustab poliitilist osalust. Hiljutise uuringu (General Social Survey) põhjal on USA-s üle 80% ameeriklastest uhked selle üle, kuidas demokraatia nende riigis toimib. Kuigi eraldavat joont tõmmata on raske, jagavad poliitikateadlased poliitilise osaluse üldjoontes kaheks: tavapärane osalemine (conventional participation) ja tavapäratu osalemine (unconventional participation). Tavapärane osalemine sisaldab paljusid laialt aktsepteeritud viise valitsemise mõjutamiseks - selle alla kuuluvad hääletamine, teiste veenmine, uksekella helistamine petitsiooni jaoks jne. Kontrastina sisaldab tavapäratu osalemine tegevusi, mis on rohkem tähelepanu pälvivad: näiteks protestimine, kodanikuallumatus ja isegi vägivald. Hääletamine on poliitilise osaluse vorm, milles osaletakse kõige rohkem, kuid viimastel aastatel näitab seegi Ameerikas langustrendi

The form grows out from the repetitions of the basic material and from modifications typical of jazz. Some rondo-like effects can be detected. The Jazz Symphony is a brisk and cheery work, written for a young audience. The novel approach to composition made itself manifest in the Third One- movement Symphony (1966), written for an unconventional ensemble: a string quartet, four woodwinds (a flute, an oboe, a clarinet, a bassoon), strings, jazz drums, a gong, two pianos and a male choir. The work consists of eight sections.1 According to the composer’s statement, he engaged in the work the motifs of an ancient wedding song in order to come closer to folk music. Two contrasting images are used as the basic material: the dodecaphonic row, first exposed by one of the pianists, and the wedding song phrase, exposed by the strings

theories can't avoid subscribing to a few of them: Avoid formula, distrust order and pattern, resist logic and tradition. Artists who operate on the principle of rejecting all form are themselves dependent on form. T h e freshness and excitement of their work comes from its contrast to the pervasiveness o f formulas a n d p a t t e r n s in the culture. However, these artists run the risk o f reaching a l i m i t e d audience because m o s t people can't relate to totally unconventional art. By definition it doesn't intersect w i t h commonly held patterns of experience. T h e i r work might only be appreciated by other artists, a small part of the community in any time or place.
