Speed cameras are not a good way to make our roads safer-Do you agree with this statement

Speed cameras are not a good way to make our roads safer. Do you agree with this statement?

Speed cameras are not a good way to make our roads safer. Do you agree with this statement? The offical reason for installing cameras that monitor along the roads is that they will bring speed down and due to this many lives can be saved. Speed cameras probably decrease the average speed a bit at the spot where the camera is, but in my opinion they really make driving much more stressful and unsafe. First of all, in our country there are a lot of speed cameras on the roads. Mostly of them are on a straight roads, which even do not need a speed camera. As our country is pretty small, almost everybody driving daily knows exactly where are these speeding cameras. That makes no sense because they slow down before the camera and after it they speed up. Secondly, people are afraid of tickets. They must check their speedometer before the speed camera to hold the speed around allowed level. That takes drivers attention from the road. It...

Technology has dramatically changed leisure and hobbies

Technology has dramatically changed leisure and hobbies Family drives with a car, husband turns the car looking at the GPS directions to home. Wife shares pictures to Instagram with her iPhone and in the backseat girl is playing with her iPad and boy reads on his kindle. This is normal nowadays, because technolgy has been improved for example people can now communicate with each other much faster. It is great, although it can also harm people. Technology is serious responsibility- if people do not use an invention carefully, then it would end up the wrong way. The word „Leisure“ meaning changes in every 10 to 20 years. 50 years ago spare time was usually considered as that part of a day when people took a nap or children played with each other. Nowadays technological tools are killing off leisure time, especially for younger workers and students, who are working longer hours, taking fewer and shorter vacations but still bringing their...

Illmatic album review

Illmatic album review Ervin Sagor Nasir ''NaS'' Jones recorded his first album called Illmatic in 1994. The album was slept on and had lack of sales. Upon its release, the album debuted at number 12 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 59,000 copies in its first week. However, its initial sales fell below expectations and its five singles called "Halftime", "It Ain't Hard to Tell", "The World Is Yours", "Life's a B***h" and "One Love" failed to achieve significant chart success. There are ten songs on the album. Producers of the album are such legends as DJ Premier, Large Professor, L.E.S., MC Serch, Pete Rock and Q-Tip. I think this is one of the best rap albums of all time. NaS's lyrics are incredible and beats are fantastic. I cannot decide what my favourite song on the album is because every track is unique in its own way. Thru NaS's career his rhymes have all ...

Lady Gaga Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta , known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, activist, businesswoman, fashion designer and actress. Born This Way is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, released on May 23, 2011. Born This Way debuted in the top five spots of every major market. In the United States, Born This Way sold 1.108 million copies in its first week the largest first-week album sales in five years. The hit singles are "Born This Way", "Judas", "The Edge of Glory", and "You and I". I think this is a really amazing album with some different forms of instrumentation which have not been used on her previous releases. Gaga is very good singer and her voice is different from most other singers, because her voice is awesome and loud. My favorite track is "Marry the night". The only negative thing I would say about t...

Choosing the right way to revise guarantees success at the exam

Choosing the right way to revise guarantees success at the exam I Choosing the right way to revise guarantees success at the exam. II For the start, as we know revising for exams can be quite stressful because we have a lot of information to cover. But finding the proper way for you can help you alot! III I actually agree with this statement. In fact, i think that you should find out how you memorize thing in class in order to find out the best way to revise for the exam. For example, if you have a hearing memory, then maybe you should consider recording your notes onto your computer or MP3 player. You should listen to them when you are out and about but not when you are relaxing. Relaxing is a very important part of revising. You should give your brain some rest so it could operate more effectively. Also, while studying you become mentally tired, but on order to sleep, you should balance mental and physical fatigues, so...

What are the responsibilities of and challanges to the Freedom of speech in the 21st century

What are the responsibilities of and challanges to the Freedom of speech in the 21st century? Our responsibility is to think what we say. Words can make World a better place or even destroy it. By words we can affect the World. Because of that, we have to be very careful by using them. Using words wrong , we can hurt very many people and ourselves too. When we use wrong words at the wrong time, we can hurt somebody very bad. We can insult people or make them suffer. And this can bay back very hard. For example the event what took place in Kauhajaki school, where one young guy named Juhani Saari, who killed very many his fellow pupils and himself too. This disaster took place because other pupils taunted and japed him. Religion is in the 21st century very disunited. This makes society acceptive to every little suasions. Art-based learning

Art-based learning We can see that art-based learning is not a regular method in school. Although I barely can understand why. It seems to me, that it is rather interesting way of learning. I also would like to point out, that childrens emotional memory is strong and pleasant things will be understood and remembered more. Therefore I would like to discribe the method thoroughly. Only in the past few hundred years has reading been the primary way of teaching religion. For centuries, religious education relied on hearing and seeing. Religious education can benefit by returning to the ages-old methods of hearing and seeing to complement reading. This method enables you to make the old learning way-seeing available for the students nowadays. It is about deepening our understanding of faith. In times past, when people could not read, it was through pictures that they came to realize the glory of God's world and the meaning of the Bible(http:/...

Capital Punishment should (not) be abolished

Capital Punishment should (not) be abolished Capital punishment has been an ancient way of punishment, which is thought to have started with blood feud and human sacrifices to gods. There are different points of views supporting or held against this sort of punishment. First of all, it is inhumane, primitive and brutal way of revenge, which is contradiction to the basic values of Christian Europe. What is more, it stands in the way of society progressing morally. With this sort of punishment county sets itself at the same level as the criminal and this may increase aggressiveness and lover the value of human life. People who support capital punishment have as good arguments as those who are against it. Capital punishment helps to preserve people's belief in justice and the power of law. It also may help preventing wild justice. For this kind of punishment is the fact that public opinion has always supported it...

First I thought that why is always easier to create something but to destroy is much harder. Exactly there have been so many wars in history. Everybody wanted to own a lot of countries and others had to fight for their created country. Also they started to teach young people to kill and protect their country with killing enemies. Also government tried to keep a low profile, if there were some wars in state. These are my thoughts of creating and keeping something. In the old times were many wars. Some states predominated over other weaker countries or states. Weaker countries had created their own and loved country and they wanted to live like that for a long time. To: Mark Clooney From: Marju Villmann Subject: Ways of using the money to benefit the environment and the local community. Date: 15th December Purpose The purpose of this proposal is to make recommendations regarding the best ways to use the money to benefit the environment and the local community. Local concerns It would be a good idea to put money on animal pounds. This would mean that people can walk on streets without frightening homeless animals. One another suggestion would be to use this money to arrange parks and children's playgrounds. In this way, there will be a good place where to walk and play. Moreover, children could play in a protected place. Another good solution would be to buy christmas decorations. By doing this, the city will be beautiful and people will always be in a good mood and they also will be happier. Conclusion On the whole, I believe that if we consider some of the suggestions above, we will able to cre...

Which is more important-sport or science?

This is something that has had me in two minds for a very long time, why does humanity waste so much time and money on sport and the pursuit of sport when realistically it is just a sideshow, a morale booster for the masses? The sheer volume of money spent each year on sports are actually absolutely ridiculous. Sports have become a monster that is beyond our control. This happens as legitimate scientific research struggles to find funding or a struggle along with tiny handouts from patronising governments around the world. Space exploration is probably the prime example in that it is now, at this stage of human development, more important than ever before that we find ways to make space inhabitable. But instead NASA has become a bit of a joke to the public and space exploration the stuff of B- grade horror movies. The question we have to ask ourselves is this, do sports stars really deserve to be paid five times the salary of a scientis...

How can we increase the quality of breathable air? Essee

How can we increase the quality of breathable air? “I’ll go out for a breath of fresh air” is an often-heard phrase. But how many of us realize that this has become irrelevant in today’s world? Air pollution is the addition of any harmful substances to the atmosphere, which causes the damaging of the environment, human health and the quality of life. Firstly, we should use green methods of powering like wind energy and landfill gas energy. This would reduce the amount of harmful gases. Another useful suggestion would be to plant trees. In this way we can increase the source of breathable oxygen. Unfortunately, many companies are contributing to deforestation. Finally, it would help if we put taxes on carbon emissions or higher taxes on gasoline. In this way people and companies will have greater incentives to conserve energy and pollute less. In conclusion, there are many ways to ...

Idealization of nature in Romantic poetry

Idealization of Nature in Romantic Poetry One of the main characteristics of romanticism in general is the constant praising of nature and connecting it with almost everything. As the second half of the 18 th century was the time of the industrial revolution, urbanization and mankind's distancing from nature in every way, it is not surprising that as a result it became more and more important to and valued by people it had suddenly become something remote and far from everyday life, somewhat a luxury. The utmost way this luxury manifests in romantic poetry is nature's ability to help whoever takes the time to value its divinity get in touch with themselves and get away from everything that might influence their way of acting. Nature provides the ideal atmosphere and surroundings to do this in the opinion of romantic poets, it is the very best place to come to when in need of solitude or an answer to personal or social conflicts....

Facebook's latest research shows that the most popular mobile device used for visiting m.facebook.com is iOS and by the popularity the second most used device is Android. Using Facebook on your mobile device raises the potential of your account getting stealed. It is so because most of the users don't use safe connection so all your data is available to other users on the same network. So the very first thing you should do is to use safe connection by adding to the end of this word ,,http://" (which you can find in the beginning of every webpage) an ,,s" so the address should be like ,,https://". Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin was one of the greatest and widely loved silent movie stars. From "Easy Street" (1917) to "Modern Times" (1936), he made many of the funniest and most popular films of his time. He was best known for his character, the naive and lovable Little Tramp. The Little Tramp, a well meaning man in a raggedy suit with cane, always found himself wobbling into awkward situations and miraculously wobbling away. More than any other figure, it is this kind-hearted character that we associate with the time before the talkies. Born in London in 1889, Chaplin first visited America with a theater company in 1907. Appearing as "Billy" in the play "Sherlock Holmes", the young Chaplin toured the country twice. On his second tour, he met Mack Sennett and was signed to Keystone Studios to act in films. In 1914 Chaplin made his first one-reeler, "Making a Living". That same year he made thirty-four more short films, including "Caught in a Caba...

Challanges of the 21st century

Challenges of the 21st century We live in 21st century almost for 12 years. It seems like a very long time, but it has gone like a bird and by this time has changed very many things. Honourable audience, I would like to talk about challenges of the 21st century. If we talk about Estonia then in my opinion our first challenge of the 21st century is to stop exodus. But to solve this problem we should ask why is the exodus so high? Answer is simple: salary, unemployment, salary. Very many things depend on incomes, so we head away from our country to find a better place where salarys are higher. For me it seems like our parliament wants to help all other countrys, for example Greece, or reckon with somebody else before help ourselves. To my way of thinking parliament should take care of our county number one and then think out how we can and should help others. The second aspect is economic cri...

Endangered Animals

Every year, more and more animals are facing extinction. In order to protect endangered species, what can we about this problem? One way of solving the problem is to protect wildlife habitats as the best way to protect endangered species is to protect the places they live in. In addition to this, wildlife must have a place to find food and shelter from the weather. Logging, oil and gas drilling, over-grazing and real estate development have all resulted in the destruction of these habitats, which must be minimized as much as possible. Another way to solve the problem is to stop buying products that are made from animal skin. The lack of demand would result in hunters being unable to continue their business. Finally, it is important to pay attention when driving. One of the problems in developed areas is that roads divide habitats, meaning they are a constant hazard to not only themselves, but to the people driving on those roads ...

Motion Graphics is a piece of video which is created digitally in a computer and as the name refers bases on moving graphical elements. These elements can be images, text, graphical designs or a multidimensional imagery. But this term should not be confused with another term ,,animation". Line between these two is a bit blurred. Animation often is only giving life to the characters and scenery. Also, it can be done in real world with physically created sets. Motion graphics on the other hand can be only created in digital world and could include animation. But also there are more two very important aspects desing and cinematohraphy. A useful suggestion would be to communicate with your neighbours. A good relationship between one another is beneficial for everyone especially for the neighbourhood. This would lead to neighbours helping each other clean the vicinity. Another way to keep your neighbourhood tidy is to start from yourself. Keep your things in order, your dog on a leash . Jane Eyre

14KS1 Maarja Tobreluts Jane Eyre Analysis of book and movie “Jane Eyre'' Juhendaja: Kai Hermann Vana-Vigala 2014 Overview ''Jane Eyre'' was published in 1847 and brought fame to its author, Charlotte Bronte. The book incorporates many themes: the relations between men and women, gender equality, the treatment of children and of women, religious faith and religious life and the notion of true love. The 2011 movie is a faithful and intelligent adaptation of the classic novel. The film follows the basic storyline closely although the approach to the story and the way certain characters are portrayed differs from the novel. Analysis The book describes her as being unremarkable in the way she looks. The film preserves this premise and therefore maintains the importance placed on her character. The film's interpretation of the harsh manner ...

Review "THE CATCHER IN THE RYE"

"THE CATCHER IN THE RYE" Review 2018 "Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody." J.D. Salinger Book is read. I'm very pleased to report that I joined the group of people who have already read "The catcher in the rye". Many people have mentioned this story in some conversations and lots of quotes in Internet contain "J.D.Salinder" in the end of it, therefore I was really excited when we decided to read this book as a part of our English lesson course. It was very good way for English skills practice and also self- liberalizing. I think many teenagers would be able to relate the book to the actual themes - it's a modern classic of today. Every teeneager has had once felt himself sort of depressed and upset. It is absolutely normal state for identity formation. We mature, we become adults, we revise our ...

Illegal Immigration in America - essee

Illegal Immigration in America Essay Often the United States is referred to as the land of opportunity. No wonder a lot of people want to experience it – in fact a survey found out that about 165 million adults worldwide would immigrate to the United States if they had the opportunity. Unfortunately not everyone who decides to live in America does it legally and that’s where the problems begin. Illegal immigration is not a new issue in the United States. For many years immigrants have crossed the American border through Mexico, the Pacific Ocean or some other way. Also there are people who enter the country with a visa but stay for a longer time than it allows them to. Every day thousands of immigrants come to the United States and in March 2010 the estimated number of illegal aliens in the States was about 11 200 000. About eight million of them had jobs. ...

Palm oil

Palm oil Palm oil is a type of edible vegetable oil that is derived from the palm fruit, grown on the African oil palm tree. Oil palms are originally from Western Africa, but can flourish wherever heat and rainfall are abundant. Today, palm oil is grown throughout Africa, Asia, North America, and South America, with 85% of all palm oil globally produced and exported from Indonesia and Malaysia; but most of the time not using sustainable measures. The industry is linked to major issues such as deforestation, habitat degradation, climate change, animal cruelty and indigenous rights abuses in the countries where it is produced, as the land and forests must be cleared for the development of the oil palm plantations. According to the World Wildlife Fund, an area the equivalent size of 300 football fields of rainforest is cleared each hour to make way for palm oil production. This lar...

The Role of the Hippie Movement in 21st Century Britain

The Role of the Hippie Movement in 21st Century Britain The hippies’ primary belief was that life was about being happy, not about what others thought you should be. Their “if it feels good, do it” attitudes included little forethought nor concern for the consequences of their actions. Hippies were dissatisfied with what their parents had built for them. Hippies rejected middle class values, opposed nuclear weapons and the Vietnam War. They embraced aspects of eastern philosophy and desired to find new meaning in life. Hippies were often vegetarian and believed in eco friendly environmental practices. They championed free love and sexual liberation, particularly for women. They also promoted the use of psychedelic drugs which they believed expanded their consciousness. Hippies participated in alternative arts and street theater and listened to folk music and psychedelic rock as part of their anti-establishment lifestyle. Some hippi...

All Marketers are liars

In his book, All Marketers are Liars, Seth Godin contends that consumers prefer fantasy to the truth, and that consequently marketers should "live the lie, fully and completely." Stopping short of endorsing marketing methods which might kill people, Godin says that marketers should "give people what they want." The book is telling a story about why marketers must forsake any attempt to communicate nothing but the facts, and must focus on what people believe and then work to tell them stories that add their worldview. HIGHLIGHTS Before marketing, before shopping carts and long before informercials, people started telling themselves stories. Stories make it easier to understand the world. Stories are the only way to spread an idea. Marketers didn´t invent storytelling. They just perfected it. We tell ourselves stories, because we´re superstitious. Stories are shortcuts we use because we ´re too overwhelmed by data to discover ...

We all have felt good about donating something

We all have felt good about donating something.

Mait Rõõmus Mr. Savala English 4 26 September 2013 Prompt #5 We all have felt good about donating something. It gives us inner peace, satisfaction, and an overall benevolent feeling. Donating money, clothes or "yourself" by volunteering does not require us to do the impossible we do that which is quite possible. A few weeks ago, I went through my friend's wallet and found an organ donor card. It really made me think. Would I be willing to donate an organ to help someone or to receive an organ from someone I do not know if I needed it? This whole idea makes me stop and think. Health issues are very common nowadays and luckily, medical science has advanced so much that nearly everything is curable. In addition to good medical science, organ transplants have improved too. You can replace almost everything from your body. But when all of these great advances come down...

Bad Teacher Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz) is a Chicago middle school teacher at the fictional John Adams Middle School who curses at her students, consumes lots of alcohol, smokes marijuana, and only shows movies while she sleeps through class. She plans to quit teaching and marry her wealthy fiancé, but when he dumps her, she must resume her job as a teacher. She tries to win over substitute teacher Scott Delacorte (Justin Timberlake), who is also wealthy. However, she cannot afford the $10,000 procedure. To make matters worse, Scott admits that he has a crush on Amy, only viewing Elizabeth as a friend. Elizabeth...
