Water pollution and society This essay is about fresh water and pollution. It's based on an article by David Krantz and Brad Kifferstein. I read it through and now I'm trying to give the conclusion of the article as well as express my own opinion. 70 percent of planet Earth's surface contain water. Water is the beginning of life and vital natural resource. It's vital for every living organism. That's why we have to keep the water bodies clean and stop polluting our fresh water. It's hard to believe, but planet Earth is in great danger. People can't see the whole picture. They are being indifferent to the future. Everyone thinks about themselves and tries to find a better and easier way to get rid of garbage and waste. Money is everything for them. Money talks and nobody cares about giving a dollar to save the nature. Usually a person thinks that what difference can he make. But if everybody think so, it's o...

What is needed for good society Good society needs three things. These things are: rudimentary democratic consent, universal access to human essentials and accessibility to other desirable items. If these aspects are not fulfilled; it is not a good society. In my opinion, good society is not the thing what suits for everybody, because if you will not agree with good society standards, you really are not the person who would be advantageous for this kind of society. Person who is not accepting these standards is communist and only fits in to the dictatorship supportive countries. For being appropriate member for food society you have to accept other people needs and at the same time sacrifice some of your own needs. Good society is not a paradise. Universal access to human essentials means that everyone have the rights to access elementary things for living, such as: air, water, food, protection from harsh weather (clothing and shelter), and safety

The role of television in our society Television is just one of the many examples of how technology has changed our lives. Having a television set in the home has become very essential in todey's society. We depend on it to entertain us with its sitcoms and to inform us about current world issues. The problem is that sometimes what we hear or see on television is not always accurate or correct. Sometimes news stories give us the wrong information and we believe that it is true because that is being said on television. They may give you a story, but they may leave out some details to prove their point or to make the story more interesting.
Women writer's influence on our society Estonian women writer's history doesn't go far back. The reason for that is that people were slaves back then. Even if there were writers, then most weren't famous and they wrote poems and stories more for themselves. Also being a woman and a writer wasn't considered as a decent job for a woman at that time. The stories that we have from that time were given to one another by talking and mostly we don't know who were the authors. Education was also very expensive so only rich

The role of music in the modern society. In our fast moving world people need something for their soles. It may be different kinds of leisure but, I believe, the main part of our lives plays music. The cause of this is clear and I want to explain you the role of music in the modern society. First of all, a huge benefit of music is a really wide variety of styles. Classic, hip-hop or different types of rock are extremely popular with youngsters. So, in the world of guitar chords and dancing sounds of violins everyone can find something he really loves. Secondly, there are not any limitations in ages. Teenagers and adults can listen to the same music and not be worry that it is shamefully. No one will laugh if you like classical or rock music.
Kelly Ilp 10. D Good morning to everybody! My name is Kelly. The topic of my presentation is technology, the Internet and the influence on the society. I have divided my talk into three parts. Firstly, I want to talk about the good sides of computers and web. Secondly, I am going to talk about the drawbacks of the modern life technology and in the last part of my presentation I want to point out the main problems and give a solution or two on how to avoid the dark sides of the Internet. Well, let's start the first part which is the bright side of computers and web. Nowadays, the
A person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be treated as an equal member of society In our society there is a lot of people who have an opinion, that a person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be treated as an equal member of society. Life of these people become more complicated than life of people, who hasn´t been punished. There are many issues and problems that come up and bring among some difficulties. First of all, there is prejudice, that a person who has committed a crime will do it again and they are not trustful, therefore they are treated with caution. You have to earn a person´s trust to be in a good relation with him/her and it is hard if you know about someone´s past with criminal aspects

The importance of education Education is one of the most important part in our today's society. Children are our future and educating them is really necessary. In the first place, giving children education is really important, because they are our future leaders, teachers and they have to develop our government for centuries. Moreover, schools, highschools and even universities teach some of the things you will have to encounter in your life after studies and have to step to work-life. In Fact, you will probably have to make presentations, CV-s and

What it the role of journalism in community and society? I think that the role of journalism in community and society is basically to give us information, what is going on woldwide. 4/14/2019 Nimetu dokument - Google'i dokumendid Essay In todays society there`s a huge problem with waste and global warming. Many oh those problems come from us not thinking about what our actions do to the environment. Hazardous waste comes from factories that produce stuff that we really don`t need. We use private cars just to go to the supermarket but we could just take the buss or walk wich is much more environment friendly. The one that we do the most is leaving rubbish around that

Reasons why people work In today's society it is known that people work because they need money to live. As Leonardo da Vinci said " God sells us all things at the price of labour " and unfortunately it tends to be true. However, there are still some of the other reason why people work. As Mothet Teresa said " Work without love is slavery" and fortunately there are many people in world who work because they love what they do. For example artists, musicians and actors do not earn a lot of money, however they can give the world

groups of hunters who probably followed herds of deer. 5000BC Britain became an island and deer died out. 3000BC the Neolithic people came (probably from Spanish peninsula or even North African coast). They may be the forefathers of the people from Cornwall and Wales. The building of Stonehenge started around that time. 2400BC the 'Beaker' people arrived in Britain. They had better metal working skills and they soon became the leaders of the British society. They started building individual graves. 1300BC the farming society became more important than the henge society. 55BC the Romans arrived. The Celts The Celts arrived from central Europe or further east around 700BC. They were tall and had fair or red hair and blue eyes. They knew how to work with iron. They are the ancestors of many people living in Britain today. Celtic languages are still spoken today. The Celts lived in tribes which were ruled by a chief
The effect of modern technology on our everyday life In the nowadays world, we are living in the era of advanced technology. Almost every activity that we do in our daily life is somehow connected with technology usage. It plays a major role not only in our lives, but also helped in development of various industries, changed education, entertainment. We can not measure this process and it`s impact on society, but one thing we can say for sure – technology has become part of pupils lives. There are so many advantages connected with technology and how it affected our everyday life. To start with, development of mobile technology, computers and internet made life easier. We can find information in sites like Google in a couple of minutes instead of looking for required information in books for hours. In the older times, writing a letter, sending and bringing to a required person took minimum a
Do you consider yourself more functionalist or more conflict theorist? Please explain why? Functionalism and conflict theory are very different views of society, but they are not exactly opposites. Both have arguments, that make people think about the society they live in and both have theorists who critize each other. In my opinion, none of the theories are completely wrong but I do tend to agree with people on the conflict theory side. Firstly, functionalism ignores inequality and focuses too much on the positive functions in society. For example racism, functionalists will say that it must be imporant in order to exist as long as it has but in my opinion that sounds quite doubtful. The most problematic part about racism is above all

Homelessness Every night thousands of people are on the streets. This type of behavior is considered deviant because it does not reflect the norms and values of our society. In many cases the homeless people in our country are treated as total outcasts. Many of these people have severe mental disorders. Some are victims of an economy that has failed them. The homeless are in need. As fellow humans we are obligated to help those in need. They are not only in need of money, but they are also in need of our attention and our support. In the past fifty years the United States has invested more money in helping the homeless people than any other country in the world

All people in our society have a role. All adults should have jobs. That means that they need to choose a profession. Some professions are more needed in our society than others. Nowadays in Estonia we need mostly newer professions, connected with computers and things like that, bust also some older professions... The most needed profession is builders. The cities grow and new buildings are being razed. When you walk in the streets then you can see everywhere that some buildings are being repaired, or some older ones are being demolished to make space for newer and bigger buildings. Some old houses are being restored like they used to be in the past
Marxism Why to be for Marxism? 1. Belief that a working labour could be seen as joy if a workers sees themselves in the objects they have created. 2. Against exploitation of workers which basically means that workers labour is resold at a higher price than he gets paid for it. 3. Classless society which means that everyone is equal in a basic sense as a member of the tribe and the different functional assignments of the primitive mode of production, howsoever rigid and stratified they might be, did not and could not, simply because of the numbers, produce a class society as such. Why to be against Marxism? 1. Marxism removes incentive, with the slogan “From each according to his ability, to each
cannabis topic has grown so popular lately. Cannabis, as a soft drug, is criminalized in Estonia and that fact leads people to go after stronger drugs because by the law they are on the same scale. The popularity of “China white” is growing in Estonia, as it is so easily accessible, but so does the mortality rate because it is very easy to overdose on fentanyl. Estonia should re- form its drug policy because stricter laws and punishments do not change society for the better and current drug policy is not showing any positive effect either. The reason why Estonia should consider decriminalizing cannabis is that the history of decriminalizing cannabis has shown us that the use of narcotics has gone down. Great examples for that are the Netherlands and Portugal. Portugal decriminalized all narcotics in 2001 and decided to treat possession and use of small quantities of drugs as a public health
advocate the observance of June 14 as 'Flag Birthday', or 'Flag Day'. On June 14, 1889, George Balch, a kindergarten teacher in New York City, planned appropriate ceremonies for the children of his school, and his idea of observing Flag Day was later adopted by the State Board of Education of New York. On June 14, 1891, the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia held a Flag Day celebration, and on June 14 of the following year, the New York Society of the Sons of the Revolution, celebrated Flag Day. Following the suggestion of Colonel J Granville Leach (at the time historian of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution), the Pennsylvania Society of Colonial Dames of America on April 25, 1893 adopted a resolution requesting the mayor of Philadelphia and all others in authority and all private citizens to display the Flag on June 14th. Leach went on to recommend that thereafter the day be known as 'Flag Day',
Men and women in politics Women have become a force to be reckoned with in the world of politics. Over the past decade, women have resolved into leadership positions, encouraging the same sex to voice their opinions in voting booths, political debates, and society. Not only in America, but nationwide. Women comprise over 35 percent of the lower house in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Demark; 15 percent or less are seen in parliaments within ten countries . Over the years, women had to protest and fight for this right so that young women today can vote and have a say so in who represents the people of our city, state, and country. A woman's influence in politics has yet to be recognized as a true political voice of women that actually yields power

Speech about money ! ! Hi, I am … and I am going to talk about the importance of money. In such a costly and competitive society and world, no one of us can live without money. We need money for basic things such as food, clothes and shelter. People in the society who are rich are looked as honourable and respectful people of the society however a poor person is disliked without any good impression. All of us want to be rich by earning more money through good job or business. Everyone wants to get good study with higher education from the popular college and university to get good job in order to earn more money. We want to be on the safe side. Without money we feel helpless and alone in this world where no one is ready to help and assist
talents, but by the accident of birth. Social inequality. The apparatus of social hierarchy is amazingly complete. It is manifest in the Court with its great expense and elaborate display; the country house with its ancient associations and dependent village; the segregation of a group of schools (ironically called ,,public" schools) to provide each new generation with the manners and habits of ruling class; the clubs and social life of London; the columns of ,,Society" gossip in the newspapers and the differences of clothing and accent by which members of the ,,classes" can instantly recognise one another. We should respect our fellow creatures because they are good or clever, gifted or wise not because they happen to possess advantages of wealth or power. In so far as we accept these false standards (of wealth and class) we make ourselves less than free men. We deny the eqality of our common humanity. Vandalism
Most needed professions in Estonia in 21st century All people in society have a role. All adults should have jobs. Some professions are more needed in society than others. In Estonia we need mostly newer professions, connected with computers. I think doctor is a most needed profession. We have so many illnesses and nobody knows what it is. We need people, who help us to cope with them. In Estonia doctors earn not much money, that's why a lot of them go to foreign country to work and to earn their living. The second most needed profession is connected with computers. More growing computer
Rural versus Urban Of course, living in a rural or an urban society-both have their strong sides and weak sides. I have lived in rural society for my whole life so I know how life outside city is. Best thing about not living in a town is the quietness. If you have lived in quietness for your whole life then you won't even understand how pleasant it actually is. But I have heard that many city peoples enjoys only the peace and quietness at countryside, because when you live in town you hear till morning to evening driving cars. Another big plus for rural environment is clean and beautiful nature. Forests where you can
Capital Punishment The adherents of the death penalty refer to public safety. Still, even though violent criminals are locked away from the society forever, there is also another possibility for the inmate to escape the full punishment. However proving whether one is guilty or not is a very complicated and time-consuming process. From an ethical perspective, the death penalty is, undoubtedly, a violation of human rights. Most death penalty critics charge that it is particularly barbaric when applied to mentally retarded people and juvenile delinquents. In this case, capital punishment looks like senseless cruelty

The role of the free press Newspapers and magazines play an imoportant role in today's society and are capable of influencing people's lives in many ways. The new electronic media have become even more influential in shaping people's opinions, attitudes and behaviour. However, does the free press offer a valuable service, or is it, as American journalist, Edward Egglestone said, "organised gossip"? On a personal level, the media can be very entertaining and informative. Reading about the lifestyles of the rich and famous is amusing and can help people forget their own problems
enlightenment. It put hesitate in old belives and brought up intelligence.Mind and critical thinking importance pointed out french philosopher René Descarte. Therefore enlightenment was literatural and philosophical movement, which roots were in 17th century sience achievements. In 18th century this movement infected a lot the way rulers saw their duties concerning to the lower class, and the way base-born saw themselves and their rights in society. Enlighteners main valuation was human intelligence. The old discipline and world treatment found to be contrary to reason, future society had to form more rational. Rational world treatement became an idol.Beliving into the mind omnipotence, the enlghteners were sure that ideas can change the world. That is where the new grasp came from, that it is important to spread new ideas, but understanding new ideas needs knowleadge and education.

Throughout the centuries people have fought for power. Leadership has been a reason for many wars and fights. For some people one of the most important things in life is to have power over everybody else. Very often those who become leaders destroy or forget about the ideals they had before and about the promises they made. G. Orwell's book "Animal Farm" is an excellent example of how easy it is to forget about the ideals. In his novel George Orwell pictures a human society through the animal farm. He uses exagerations which help to feel the atmosphere of spoiled society. Society ruined by dictators, false ideas and corruption. In the novel the animals are shown as the exagerated copies of human beings with all their characters, habits and feelings. The story took place on the farm where the animals led a rebellion against the human beings. The revolution was started by the pigs who were considered the most intelligent animals
This means that people are constantly competing with each other and that makes all of us (who desire the same things) enemies. Hobbes names the insecurity and fear people feel towards each other a "state of nature". In this state there are no moral rules or enforced laws, also no justice or injustice. People, being violent and arbitrary, will only follow their own interest. So without laws and boundaries, people would be in constant war - every man for himself. In this kind of society there is no time for cultural or industrial development. No one can enjoy life because of the constant fear they life in. The game by Neil Strauss It`s a story about a man who knows nothing about girls, but then not only meets a secret society of pick-up artists who teach him how meet beautiful women and also becomes THE master pick-up artist himself. His students and his teachers go to him in search for tips on how to deal and meet with women. It's based on a true story. It's not a lesson-by-lesson book detailing "forbidden" methods of "tricking" women into going to bed with you. It's actually more of one man's personal number of frustrations and victories of dealing with women

Those have nothing to do with the ability of someone doing the job or how this individual will bring profit to the company. So, no company should hire or even make a job interview with a woman just because she is a woman. Some parts of the he society have taken an opinion that women have to maintain their family and children. Our society itself has a negative viewpoint towards working woman who want to make career instead of a family. They believe that only men are able to handle the financial decisions and have higher leadership skills, making them part of higher positions in the companies. What I think is that these days more women are career oriented and the society is more open in having a woman on leading positions
