Nende areng on viimasel ajal olnud väga kiire. Seal elavad ja tegutsevad inimühiskonnad, mis on oma arvult suuremad kui mõni väikeriik. Hinnanguliselt liigub eri virtuaalmaailmades praegu umbkaudu 30 miljonit inimest. Paljud maksavad seal viibimise eest raha. Mida seal siis tehakse? Mõnes maailmas on mitu korda rohkem kultuurisündmusi kui näiteks Tallinnas. Klaverikontserdid, loengud, näitused ja filmid. Erinevatel hinnangutel ületas virtuaalmaailmade majanduse kogutoodang 2005. aastal miljardi krooni piiri. On inimesi, kes teenivad lausa oma igapäevast elatist virtuaalmaailmas teenuseid või tooteid müües. To: Ms Johanson From: Mari Mets Subject: The factors Estonian students consider important when choosing a job Introduction The aim of this report is to analyse the results of two surveys into the information about which factors Estonian students consider important when choosing a job. The two surveys were carried out in 2005 and 2013. At the end of the report there are some possible reasons for the changes. Grow of importance To start with, the importance had grown 14% for the pay, 15% for the work atmosphere and 20% for work/life balance. Capital Punishment Should (not) Be Abolished Capital punishment or the death penalty is the killing of the person as the punishment for offence. To get the capital punishment, you need to do a very serious crime, like homicide, or even more serious than that. The pros of a capital punishment are that if the person gets that punishment, he or she will never get a chance to do something that cruel again. Sometimes the criminals, who get a prison sentence, do something illegal again, after that punishment. Second pro is that it's cheaper for the country to kill the person, than to pay for his/her food and clothes for the rest of his/her life in the prison. Although the killing of the person also needs money, it's still way cheaper than to pay for at least 40 years for all the life needs in prison. The main con of the capital punishment is that if the person actually didn't commit the crime, he or she was punished for, will die as ...

My ideal school. My ideal school would be communication-based, blending aspects of social work, conflict resolution, team building, and traditional learning. Classes would be limited to fifteen students, a size small enough to allow individual attention but large enough to furnish the feeling of belonging to a group. Creative projects would be the cornerstone of the curriculum, incorporating all the life skills that make this method of education unique. The class would be presented with a number of ideas at the beginning of each project, and would also have the option of coming up with their own idea. Some examples are raising money to donate to a charity, creating an anthology of short stories to be bound and published, starting a website, writing and recording an original song, and patenting a new idea. Because of the amount of coordination required for each project, both successes and failures would inevitably ...

Where would you prefer to live and why? I would prefer to live in a big city instead of a village or a small town. For example Tallinn, London, New York or Paris. To start with, I would like to live in a big city because of its advantages. Big cities usually have more opportunities to spend your day and night. There are cinemas, coffee shops, theatres, shopping centres, libraries and night clubs. Although you need money to attend different exhibitions and shows big city also offers you free activities. Secondly, there are lots of banks, company offices and factories where people can work. That is the second reason I think big city life is better than a life in a small village. Last but not least, people usually think that they would not like to live in a big city because there are too many people there and they would feel suffocated. But there are areas outside the centre of the town where people live. Big...
Stress in the lives of young people today A lot of young people nowadays stress about various number of things. Whether it’s grades in school, appearance, relationships or future life in general, they all worry young people and impact their everyday life. One of the biggest stress factors are probably school, grades and future. Often students find themselves lacking knowledge to pass a subject or are too lazy to attend classes at all. This leads to a big amount of stress which they only have themselves to blame for. The best way to avoid this kind of stress would be studying hard and attending all classes. Young people also stress about the future a lot, they’re not sure where to study next or what to study. They’re also not sure whether they’re able to live an independent life or find a decent job. I think the second stress factor in the lives of young people today are relationships. Relat...

Me and languages. To begin with, language is a congrecation of thoughts and feelings through a system of signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or written symbols. Communication or language is a process every child learns from birth and during our life we will usually learn many different languages. Due to the fact that both of my parents are Estonians , my mother tongue is Estonian, therefore I can speak and write in it very fluently. I also prefer read the books in Estonian. I know that some people like to do it in some other languages, in English for instance. I am really amused by the Estonian literature. I like to read books and stories from Andrus Kivirähk and F.R. Kreutzwald. English is one of the world most spoken language. You can hear it everywhere, no matter which part of the world are you in. In the third grade of elementary scool I started to learn English a...

House of my dreams Vsevolod Dolgov So, today I want to tell you about my house and house of my dreams. I live in a three-bedroom flat with my mother and brother. Our flat is very big, well, it is very big for me. It is very warm in there, but my mom says it's cold. I have my own room, and it is very cool, because it is like my own flat. I have all my things in there, such things like: a computer, books, my big bed, a guitar and diplomas. There, in my room, is all my life, if you want to know something about me, all you need is to visit my room. We live on the ground floor, and because of that, we do not get a lot of sun in the flat. Our city is not so big, but we live far from the center, our house is in the north-east of the city- it is about fifteen minutes by bus. But it is not so bad, in big cities you need fifty minutes! That’s why I love my city. My dream house should be located outside the city, where I...
The Moving Finger Agatha Christie The Moving Finger Agatha Christie Plot summary: Brother and sister Jerry and Joanna Burton bought a country house in an idyllic English town called Lymstock so that Jerry could recover from injuries received in a wartime plane crash. They had been living in London their whole life and thus were excited but intimidated to go. Lymstock was much like any other English village, no more than 300 people. Those that live there enjoy the peace of rural life and form a union to where it can be difficult for strangers to blend in. Fortunately, it wasn't much of a problem for Jerry and Joanna. They were just getting to know the town's strange members and their characters...

Film review "Scent of a Woman" 1992 by Martin Brest Scent of a Woman is the story of Frank Slade, a blind, retired army colonel who hires Charlie Simms, a poor college student on the verge of expulsion, to take care of him over Thanksgiving weekend. At the beginning of the weekend, Frank takes Charlie to New York, where he reveals to the student that he intends to visit his family, have a few terrific meals, sleep with a beautiful woman and, finally, commit suicide. Over the weekend, as they learn about life through their series of adventures, they start trusting eachother. Two absolute favourite scenes: The first is in the New York ballroom where the blind Lt. Colonel teaches a lady to dance the tango. It is so smooth and dramatic that even a couch potato is tempted to dance along. The second and most profound is the speech that Al Pacino makes in defense of Charlie at the prep school disciplinary hearing. It has to go down as...
Reading- A Waste of Time? Actually I really don't like reading, but that book is really interesting. If I started to read that book, it's seems boring, but actually it isn't that. It's going more and more interesting and I like it. That book tells the story of Madame Wu. On her fortieth birthday, Madame Wu carries out a decision she has been planning for a long time: she tells her husband that after twenty-four years their physical life together is now over and she wishes him to take a second wife. The House of Wu, one of the oldest and most revered in China, is thrown into an uproar by her decision, but Madame Wu will not be dissuaded and arranges for a young country girl to come take her place in bed. Elegant and detached, Madame Wu orchestrates this change as she manages everything in the extended household of more than sixty relatives and servants. Alone in her own quarters, she relishes her...

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! Im going to talk about Business in Estonia. I`ve divided my talk into three parts. First Im going to give a short overview of the Estonian business. Second Im going to talk about studying business in Estonia and third Im going to talk about business in industrial sector. FIRST: Estonia is a relatively small country in the northern part of Europe. Estonia is strategically placed in the business corridor, between the Scandinavian countries (EU) and other eastern European countries, including Russia. Estonia has suffered from economic Chrisis as many ohter European countries and compared to ohter bigger countries like Spain and Greece, Estonia has managed to recover from the Chrisis quite well. The number of unemployed people has reduced, still many private companies have struggles due to the fact that the income of consumers has been low and the ability to consume products provided by the companies has...

The Goblin Last month, I attended an Eduard Tubin's modern ballet performance ,,The Goblin" in two acts at the Estonian National opera. The choreographer and stage director was Marina Kesler. The conductors were Vello Pähn, Kaspar Mänd and Lauri Sirp. "The Goblin" is the first Estonian ballet, which premiered in 1943 at the Vanemuine Theatre. ,,The Goblin" is based on a mythical character from Estonian folclore. His master, the Farmer, was very greedy and he dreamed of being wealthy. To create the Goblin, the Farmer had to give him 3 drops of his blood and to sell him his soul. The Goblin's purpose was to serve his master in obtaining riches. The Farmer also had a Daughter, who was in love with a Peasant. The Peasant was quite poor and because of that the Farmer disliked him. The Farmer had never enough of money and he made everything to develop his bussiness. He had so much money that he deci...

A person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be treated as an equal member of society In our society there is a lot of people who have an opinion, that a person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be treated as an equal member of society. Life of these people become more complicated than life of people, who hasn´t been punished. There are many issues and problems that come up and bring among some difficulties. First of all, there is prejudice, that a person who has committed a crime will do it again and they are not trustful, therefore they are treated with caution. You have to earn a person´s trust to be in a good relation with him/her and it is hard if you know about someone´s past with criminal aspects. It is easier to be in a relation with people with good past and we often choose people with same views on life beside us. However, I think it is not always true, that a person who has committed a crime, doesn...
HENRY MOORE Henry Moore was born on the 30th of July in 1898. He was an English sculptor and artist. He was best known for his abstract bronze sculptures which are located around the world. He was also the most celebrated sculptor of his time, and the second part of his career, in particular, demonstrated that Modernist sculpture was surprisingly adaptable to official needs. In this sense, Moore was the contemporary equivalent of the great Neo Classical sculptors such as Canova and Thorwaldsen. Moore was born in Castleford as the son of a mining engineer. He became well-known through his large-scale abstract cast bronze and carved marble sculptures, and was instrumental in introducing a particular form of modernism to the United Kingdom. Good afternoon! My name is Egert and... ...Today I'm here to talk about advantages and disadvantages of fast development of modern technology. I think we all have noticed that almost every day there are new technology achievements at the stores. Whether we like it or not, it improves in every second, in every minute. New Apple iPhones, iPads and other i-devices are everywhere. Even tractors have a built-in computer in them. So, is it a blessing or a curse? I'm sure that most of you think it's a blessing. Do you? We like our comfortable lives, we like it when everything has been done for us already. We want to have the newest mobile phones and best cars to show off and be better than our friends. Story about English humor At first, I have to say that English humor is very frightening and quite shocking for us, Estonians. But if to talk about British people and their humor then for them, it's more than everyday life. It is something they are use to see and hear every day, day after another. They do not take it that serious as the other nationalities would and they are definitely the best laughers at themselves. The brightest memory I have from those two videos is that guy in the wheelchair. Unbelievable how selfish and rude they are! And no-one can do anything about that. If they say so then all the people around them have to act like they wish. They are absolutely innocently taking the advantage of other innocent people. Certainly we cannot talk about all disabled people from that point of view, but the exception affirms the rule. And in Britain, you can find a lot of exceptions. The second thing whi...
"Dover Beach" by Matthew Arnolds "Dover Beach" describes how the author falls deep into thought when admiring the sea with his lover and comes to a sad conclusion. In the first stanza, he describes the beauty of the sea as he is watching out the window. He says that he can see the light gleam and then disappear upon the French coast, wich suggests that the sun is setting, making the scene all the more spectacular. He emphasises the calm impression the glimmering sea and the mighty cliffs in the distance give and seems to be touched by all this, his heart filled with what might be nostalgia, thoughtfullness or just pure understanding of how simple life really is. Wanting to share the moment with his lover, he asks her to join him by the window and draws attention to the never-ending sound of the waves clashing against the shore and moving pebbles. Alas, this sound seems to bring forward a sudden realization of things in the author and...
