A period of eight centuries of foreign oppression had began for the Irish. *Richard I and Minstrel Blondel There is a legend that when King Richard the Lionheart disappeared his favourite trobadure Blondel the Minstrel went to search for him. As a wandering minstrel Blondel travelled for months over central Europe, seeking for news of his friend. At last one day, while singing one of Richard's favorite songs near the walls of the castle where the king was held, Blondel heard the song repeated from a window. Blondel the Minstrel recognized the voice of King Richard. From the window Richard told him to let the English people and the people of Europe know where he was prisoned, and Blondel the minstrel immediately went upon his mission. *John Lackland and Magna Carta 1215 After king John surrendered to the Pope and was

A NEW BEGINNING It was a dark and a silent night, when two young riders dressed within black rushed across the Devil`s Field. Suddenly one of them stopped and glanced at the moonless sky. His horse felt nervous, imitating the feelings of his rider. The other man seized his horse as well and looked at his companion in a curious way. After a minute or two spent in abnormal silence the first rider cried out as loud as he could: "Run!" The second man jumped off his horse and rushed to the forest that was waiting some meters ahead. But then he remembered about the other rider, but when he turned the Devil`s Field was empty. His companion was gone as well the horses. The man was seriously scared now, but since he was one of the Royal Solders fear was not allowed to be shown in public. So he drew his half-iron, half-silver sword and decided to go back to the field, but then he thought: "Alec told me to run...It means I mustn`t return to That place a
return. It's as good as a brief, so I really can't accuse them of being unreasonably demanding, just meticulous. Par for the course when dealing with Cross Industries." He ran a hand over his tight curls, betraying the pressure he felt. "What do you think of Kingsman vodka?" "Uh...well...Honestly, I've never heard of it." Mark fell back in his chair and laughed. "Thank God. I thought I was the only one. Well, the plus side is there's no bad press to get over. No news can be good news." "What can I do to help? Besides research vodka and stay late?" His lips pursed a moment as he thought about it. "Jot this down..." We worked straight through lunch and long after the office had emptied, going over some initial data from the strategists. It was a little after seven when Mark's smartphone rang, startling me with its abrupt intrusion into the quiet. Mark activated the speaker and kept working. "Hey, baby."
The Moving Finger Agatha Christie The Moving Finger Agatha Christie Plot summary: Brother and sister Jerry and Joanna Burton bought a country house in an idyllic English town called Lymstock so that Jerry could recover from injuries received in a wartime plane crash. They had been living in London their whole life and thus were excited but intimidated to go. Lymstock was much like any other English village, no more than 300 people. Those that live there enjoy the peace of rural life and form a union to where it can be difficult for strangers to blend in. Fortunately, it wasn't much of a problem for Jerry and Joanna. They were just getting to know the town's strange members and their characters when an anonymous letter arrived, accusing the tw
he coerced Joseph Behm into enlisting against the boy's wishes--Joseph would have been called within three months anyway, and Mittelstaedt believes that Joseph died three months sooner than he would have otherwise. Mittelstaedt arranged to be placed in charge of Kantorek's company and has taken every chance to humiliate him, miming Kantorek's old admonitions as a schoolmaster. Paul's mother becomes sadder as the end of Paul's leave looms closer. Paul visits Kemmerich's mother to deliver the news of her son's death. She demands to know how he died. Paul lies to her by telling her that he died quickly with little pain and suffering. Paul's mother sits with Paul in his bedroom the last night of his leave. He tries to pretend that he is asleep, but he notes that she is in great physical pain. He urges her to return to bed. He wishes that he could weep in her lap and die with her. He also wishes that he had never come home on leave because it only awakens pain for himself and his mother.
