The Most Influential Figures in British History

The rule of Elizabeth I can be called a peaceful time as England did not enter any huge conflicts. She managed to keep good relations with other great countries. However, the defeat of the Spanish Armada left no one questioning the superiority of the British navy. In addition, the kingdom’s territories grew during her reign, Virginia in America being named after „The Virgin Queen“. Queen Elizabeth I also valued culture. Arts flourished while Elizabeth was in power, most notably the theatre. She had the first real theatres built allowing poets like Shakespeare to create masterpieces. It is no wonder that Elizabeth I’s reign was named „The Golden Era“ as it was a time of peace during which England’s territory grew and arts such as theatre thrived. Secondly, the Victorian era is known for the enlargement of the Empire, revolutions in industry, science, education and Queen Victoria was the symbol for this period. During Queen

She adopted, for her first independent novel Indiana (1832) , the pen name that made her famous George Sand. Her first published novel, Rose et Blanche (1831), was written in collaboration with Jules Sandeau. Also she had written some rural novels from her childhood experiences of the countryside, some theatre pieces and autobiographical pieces. Sand often performed her theatrical works in her small private theatre at the Nohant estate. In addition, Sand authored literary criticism and political texts. My favourite band: Dagö

Dagö First time, when I heard band Dagö playing, was at Viljandi Folk Music Festival in 2007. I liked them very much and I went to all three concersts they gave at Festival. Although they have made music for about a decade, they have never been widely known. Maybe because they write and play music with their own style rather than try to win hearts and ears of masses. But always known in certain circle of people, who go to theatre and enjoy quality music, because lead singer of the band, Lauri Saataplu, is well-known actor and singer. I like their music, because of the addicting off-beat rythm they have. They have announced that their new album ,,Plan Delta" will be released in April of 2011.

Moliere

Kahtlemata on olnud Molière'ist paremaid näitlejaid, lavastajaid, draamakirjanikke, näitkunstiõpetajaid, teatrikriitikuid, kuid mitte ühes isikus. Moliere'i tunnustasid isegi tolleaegsed karmid kriitikud.

three oceans: the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Arctic. Canadians are multicultural. They are proud of the many cultures that exist side by side in their country. It has two official languages, English and French. The Canadian population is made up mainly of British and French origins. However Canada is not like Britain, or France, or the USA. The way of life there is very varied. It has influenced by immigrants from all over the world. Canadians prefer British English spellings, such as theatre, centre, colour and harbour. Words for some objects can be different, example a sofa is a chesterfield. There are also pronunciation differences in the three Canadian regions. But as Canadians watch lots and lots of American TV, all varieties of Canadian English are beginning to sound more and more American.

tulekut.

It is the oldest north–south main thoroughfare in New York City, dating to the first New Amsterdam settlement. The name Broadway is the English literal translation of the Dutch name, Breede weg. Broadway is known widely as the heart of the American theatre industry. Broadway was originally the Wickquasgeck Trail, carved into the brush of Manhattan by its Native American inhabitants. This trail originally snaked through swamps and rocks along the length of Manhattan Island. Is it better to live in a city or is the countryside?

An essay Nowadays most people live in a city. However, there are also people living in the countryside. They are two entirely different ways of life - each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Most of the younger generation lives in the city because there is much more to do than in the countryside. You can go to the cinema, to a theatre, shopping, clubbing, to a gym etc. You will never run out of activities to do. While that may be true, there are some things that you can only do in the countryside for example going fishing, camping or playing outside with your pets. A calm rural lifestyle is for people who enjoy peace and quiet. In addition to that there is fresh air, which is good for your health. You are also more likely to be more active and walk in the nature. Having said that, in the city there are hospitals and
