Tourism - good or bad

It may seem that tourism bring only benefits, but further consideration shows that it also has disadvantages. To start with, tourism offers many benefits. Tourists spend money on local goods and services ,so the area can get much money to develop the other essential public services, for example education and health. Also tourism services such as roads, bars, hotels, restaurants and other leisure facilities are built. Thanks to it, local people can get more jobs. Finally, tourism allows both the tourist and the local community a chance to experience other cultures. However, tourism can pose a threat to the natural environment and so may have bad effect on a country's wildlife. Tourists cause pollution and can damage the environment. What is more big companies are ruining the environment to build new facilities. For example, they cut down the forest, destroy the natural landscape in order to build hotels, restaurants for their business. Finally

Living in the Big Apple

On the other hand, there is a lot of pollution and noise in the Big Apple, but I think it's acceptable for a hudge city like New York. Besides the pollution and noise, there is a much bigger problem in the Big Apple and that problem is crime. It's becoming a dangerous place to live, but the clampdown on crime has improved the city tremendously. The agressive nature of New Yorkers is also a problem peole are pushing you out of the way on the subway or in the street. So there are both positive and negative aspects to live in the Big Apple, and if you are thinking of living there you need to weigh up the pros and cons.

THE CANONIZATION

Many poems give different stories and meanings of love. ,,The Canonization" is very beautiful poem, and its talked about love. The poem is the story of two people who are in love, so in love. The man, which one is the hero in this poem wasn't that good looking. He had gray hairs and he had palsy. But even so, he had an appreciation for the arts and religion made him a very sensitive and caring man. He really belived, that this love is a right thing for their both. He belived that they two beign one. There are one neutral thing they die and rise the same. They are so in love. But other people don't like their love mystery. They told others to not criticize them for their love. They continue and stating that their love has never hurt anyone or anything and told the other peoples that they don't care however they feel about it because their love will never destroyed. They had a love full of mysterious. In the end, their love will be a legend for

Scotland

Report of SCOTLAND Maiki Joakit 10. klass 2008 Etymology Scotland is from the Latin Scoti, the term applied to Gaels. The Late Latin word Scotia (land of the Gaels) was initially used to refer to Ireland. By the 11th century at the latest, Scotia was being used to refer to (Gaelic-speaking) Scotland north of the river Forth, alongside Albania or Albany, both derived from the Gaelic Alba. The use of the words Scots and Scotland to encompass all of what is now Scotland became common in the Late Middle Ages. History Repeated glaciations, which covered the entire land-mass of modern Scotland, have destroyed any traces of human habitation that may have existed before the Mesolithic period. It is believed that the first post-glacial groups of hunter-gatherers arrived in Scotland around 12,800 years ago, as the ice sheet retreated after the last

"Hullo darling," he answered. She took his coat and hung it in the closer. Then she walked over and made the drinks, a strongish one for him, a weak one for herself; and soon she was back again in her chair with the sewing, and he in the other, opposite, holding the tall glass with both hands, rocking it so the ice cubes tinkled against the side. For her, this was always a blissful time of day. She knew he didn't want to speak much until the first drink was finished, and she, on her side, was content to sit quietly, enjoying his company after the long hours alone in the house. She loved to luxuriate in the presence of this man, and to feel - almost as a sunbather feels the sun - that warm male glow that came out of him to her when they were alone together

people. Good health enables people to enjoy life and to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. To achieve and maintain good health, people must have basic knowledge about the human body and how it functions. Therefore, learning about health should be a part of every person's education. All parts of body must work together properly to maintain physical health. A person who is in good physical condition has the strength and energy to enjoy an active life. Physical fitness benefits both physical and mental health. It helps the body to withstand stresses that otherwise could cause physical and emotional problems. Daily exercise provides greatest benefits, and so it is important to choose exercises that can be performed every day. Such popular activities are bicycling, jogging, swimming and even taking long walks. Rest and sleep help overcome fatigue and restore energy to the body. Everyone needs rest and health, but the amount required differs from each individual.

are turned off. The motor shaft is rotated by applyingdrive voltage to each input in the proper sequence. 4. Shoot-through, also known as cross-conduction. This is the condition that occurs when the upper and lower transistors on the same side of the coil turn on at the same time. If two transistors turn on at the same time, there will be a very low impedance between the supply voltage and ground -- effectively a short. This usually destroys one or both transistors. In a high-power circuit, the results can be quite dramatic, with blue sparks and pieces of transistor flying across the room. Shoot-through can be caused by bringing inputs high at the same time. It can also be caused by bringing one input high while simultaneously taking the other input low. If one of the transistors in the bridge turns off a little slower than the others turn on, the result will be momentary shoot-through.

Acid rain

and atmospheric pollution in Manchester, England. Although it was discovered in the 1800s, acid deposition did not gain significant public attention until the 1960s and the term acid rain was coined in 1972. Public attention further increased in the 1970s when the New York Times published reports about problems occurring in the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in New Hampshire. Effects of Acid Rain Today there are several important impacts of acid deposition on both natural and man-made environments. Aquatic settings are the most clearly impacted by acid deposition though because acidic precipitation falls directly into them. Both dry and wet deposition also runs off of forests, fields, and roads and flows into lakes, rivers, and streams. As this acidic liquid flows into larger bodies of water, it is diluted but over time, acids can accrue and lower the overall pH of the body. Acid deposition also causes clay soils to release

Leona Lewis"Bleeding Love"and Lenny Kravitz"American woman"

differently interprated by Lenny Kravitz in 1999. Some say the ,,American Woman" refers to a Statue of Liberty or has something to do with anti-war movements in 1970's but the actual meaning of this particular song is still unknown. To sum up, these two artist represent various styles of music. Leonas music is more emotional, having an edgy side to it, while Lennys music is more of a ,,retro" style. How does the music of both of them impact us? I believe Leona makes us think more about love and future but Lenny makes us think about the past because of the scent of retro in his music. Working at home and in the office

personally choose their working hours according to their own lifestyle and take as many breaks as they feel necessary. A good rest and a comfortable atmosphere can easily raise the quality of the work that people are doing. However, when people work at home, they might find it hard to focus and they can easily lost their motivation when they don't have a boss breathing down their necks and a clock that is ticking time and never giving them any rest. Working at home and in the office have both good sides and bad sides, but if I'd have to choose one, I'd probaly like to work in the office, because when you work in the office, forgetting about your work and problems caused by this is much easier. When you work at home, it is much morerelax after you've finished working.

Pros & Cons of a School Uniform

Essay ,,Pros & Cons of a School Uniform" A school uniform is important for every student to become an adult. In different schools the rules for uniforms are different. Some schools have a school uniform and some do not. However, every school uniform has both advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that school uniform helps to maintain discipline. Also it is a symbol of a school. School uniform makes life cheaper and easier you do not have to waste time in the morning thinking of what to wear. Also you do not have to buy a whole new wardrobe for every school semester and I think that a school uniform prepares you for adulthood because often many important jobs have a dress code, which you have to follow.

There should be a complete ban on the advertising of dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol

There should be a complete ban on the advertising of dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol There are many legal but dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol that get a lot of advertising. You can see those advertisements almost everywhere, from streets to television. Should they be banned? Are they useful? Most of these ads are meant for people who don't smoke or drink alcohol and since most of the adults already do one or both of them, they are mainly made for children. It's not like the tobacco or alcohol companies would agree with me on that, but this is how I see it. That makes me agree with the ban, to keep children away from bad habits. People who already smoke or drink mostly don't care about the advertisements and are not affected by them. It can clearly be seen that such adverts are only useful for the companies who gain money from new "addicts". Since new smokers increase pollution and make streets

Van Gogh

Vincent Willem van Gogh (30. märts 1853 Zundert 29. juuli 1890) oli hollandi maalikunstnik. Van Gogh on tuntud postimpressionist.

Taxes

The primary function of taxation is to raise revenue to finance government expenditure. Different countries have different tax systems. Income taxes in most countries are progressive. Estonia has had so far a flat tax rate which is quite unique in the world. The problem with progressive taxes is that the marginal rate- the tax people pay on any additional income - is always high, which is generally a disincentive to both working and investing. The higher the tax rates, more people are tempted to cheat. Some employers give highly paid employees lots of perquisites such as company cars, free health insurance, and subsidized lunches. Taxation Act in Estonia was passed in 2002. Taxes are divided into direct and indirect taxes. Direct taxes are income taxes, gambling tax, land tax, social tax and heavy goods vehicle tax. The income tax rate in Estonia is 21% and social tax rate is 33%

Comparing with the past, the variety of different nonanimal products available has increased considerably and is sufficient to provide a healthy diet. However, it can be said there are both advantages and disadvantages for deciding to be a vegetarian. Firstly, vegetarians feel that there are certain advantages to be gained by not eating meat. They consider substitute foods such as soya, cereals and vegetables to be an even better source of protein than meat. It is maintained that such foods are low in fat and cholesterol, therefore promoting better health. Finally, by avoiding meat, vegetarians

Firstly in home school parents have the freedom to decide what to teach. Furthermore they have the freedom to decide how to teach. Secondly parents can teach their children more than just facts and when children learning what interests them, it motivates them to learn even more. But on the other hand home schooling isn't the best way. In state schools are more children and they can speak between each other and it is helping in future

For example, there are regions on bigger towns where in the streets I can hear only Russian. most older and middle aged people can speak in russian. Since there are main language in our society, most jobs inquire speaking them, too. Young Russian- Estonians speak both, so they have advantages there. Thirdly, the situation with religions is a diverse. It is a fact that Estonia is the most atheist country in the world. The biggest religious minorities are lutherans, Russian Orthodox. Some people have faith is very important. It is believed that God is the one who forgives them for their sinful. But in our country are not forced religion against, we have freedom of religion.

do not. Active pet owners enjoy an additional dose of exercise. Also, owning a pet will lower stress rates and it will prevent various types of illnesses. On the other hand, people who are allergic to pets cannot use this opportunity, because it brings more pain than good. From a psychological standpoint, pets can offer love and companionship. What is more, they enjoy comfortable silences and they can keep secrets. Moreover, people who own dogs have less fear of being victims of crime both when they are out with their dogs, and at home. However, some dogs can behave unpredictably and attack their own people. On the whole, I believe that having a pet is the best thing that we can do. Pets can be very loveable and useful. They can give you a lot of energy, so save some money and find some time.

MY BEST FRIEND

It seems as if Anna and I are always talking or laughing about something. We have always something to talk about. She has a very nice personality and a wonderful sense of humor but she can also be bossy sometimes. Anna goes to highschool. I can always count on her to be honest and to give me the best advice. She always want to help me with everything and she wishes best for me. We like going to cinema, listen good music and do sports together. We both like travelling, swimming and partying. Sometimes during the summer, I go with her to camping. We usually spend most of the day swimming or exploring the forest. Whatever we’re doing, it’s always fun to be with her. I know I can always trust her. Even when we are busy with school, we still find time to see each ohter. She always helps me and makes me a better person. We are lucky that we get on so well. I hope that our friendship will continue and last

store. Also, if you have a smartphone or a laptop you will always have your books with you, just in case you want to read. An e-book is also more environmental friendly. But an e-book has also some disadvantages. For example, you have your laptop or smartphone battery life to worry about and you can catch some nasty software bugs in the reader and cause it to freeze up. To sum up, everyone has their favorite ways to read a book and I think that both will survive because there will always be people who prefer a traditional paper book to an e-book and also people who prefer an e-book to a traditional paper book.

The Steam Engine

They actually were the moving force behind the Industrial Revolution. So no steam engines = no Industrial Revolution = Middle Ages that last approximately forever, give or take a few days But how do they work? One of the 2 important parts is the boiler which contains water to be boiled. The second important part of a steam engine are the pistons. In James Watt's engine the pistons are moved by condensing water which causes vacuum which is created on both sides of the piston to make it move back and forth. Okay, okay I get the point. Survey Report

Furthermore, quite popular was rock music, so we should consider including this genre in to our music festival, but the biggest problem with rock bands is that they have a lot of different musical instruments so we should consider building bigger stage. According to our questioning that we handed out to our gymnasium classes three most popular genres were dance, rock and also pop. The percentages as seen from the table were 29%, 24% and 31%. We should take it into consideration that both surveyed groups wanted to listen to pop and rock music. Antoher thing that surprised our student committee was that classical music is not listened to among our students, which means we can exclude it and still get a lot of visitors. The best side about it is that we can earn more income from the ticket sales by making so. In conclusion, the survey clearly shows that we have to include rock and pop artists and maube dance music. This way highschool students can free their souls by dancing.

The industrial revolution

which allowed farmers to cultivate bigger fields and produce more food that cost much less. Developments in the iron industry also played a central role in the Industrial Revolution. In the early 18th century, Englishman Abraham Darby (1678-1717) discovered a cheaper, easier method to produce cast iron, using a coke-fueled (as opposed to charcoal-fired) furnace. In the 1850s, British engineer Henry Bessemer (1813-1898) developed the first inexpensive process for mass-producing steel. Both iron and steel became essential materials, used to make everything from appliances, tools and machines, to ships, buildings and infrastructure. The steam engine was also integral to industrialization. In 1712, Englishman Thomas Newcomen (1664-1729) developed the first practical steam engine (which was used primarily to pump water out of mines). By the 1770s, Scottish inventor James Watt (1736-1819) had improved on Newcomen's work, and the

Soil microflora

2. Cultural practices These factors play a great role in determining not only the number and type of organism but also their activities. Variations in any one or more of these factors may lead to the changes in the activity of the organisms which ultimately affect the soil fertility level. Natural conditions Extreme environments such as high-altitude and highlatitude ecosystems are very sensitive to environmental changes. Global warming is hypothesised to alter both above- and below ground processes affecting the soil ecosystem (Asher et al. 2012). As an example, Asher et al. (2012) further proved in their research on humus creation that thermal conditions (due to differences in altitude and exposure) and consequently the climate influence soil microflora considerably. Humus being defined as an organic residue in the soil resulting from decomposition of plant and animal residues in soil, or it is the highly complex organic

My Town

of Aegna and Naissaar; it proved a suitable place for a large port. By the 12th century there were already six inland trade routes leading to the port, which was often visited by foreign ships. Tallinn developed along three lines: fortress, port and market town. The Lower Town, a free town of merchants and craftsmen, gradually evolved at the foot of Toompea. From the 13th century onwards these became separate towns with different communities, both with their own interests and laws. Tallinn grew rapidly and had developed into a well-known trading centre by the 15th, century. A century later its population of 7,000-8,000 made it one of the biggest cities in northern Europe. Unfortunately, prosperity did not last long due to the weakening of the Hanseatic League, epidemics, hunger and wars. Sweden finally managed to take control of the whole of Estonia in 1629. Though hard times

was deliberately drowned. One girl and a boy were convicted of second-degree murder, and six girls were found guilty of aggravated assault. Her death is an example of bullying taken to its ultimate expression. But even in its mildest everyday forms, bullying is about one thing: the strong taking unfair advantage of the weak. Bullying has been defined as "the tendency for some children to frequently oppress, harass or intimidate other children, verbally, physically or both, in and out of school." It is not the minor behaviour problems that are a part of growing up, such as horseplay, occasional good-natured teasing or even the odd physical scrap between children of equal strength. The most common form is name-calling. Children call others names for many reasons: because the other child is short or fat, is of a different skin colour, or has a lisp, a stutter or a physical disability. Maybe he is a slow learner or wears clothes that differ from the run of the mill

“You can never go home again“ Lord of the flies

Kristel Sepp TIK IB 09.10.09 "You can never go home again" "Lord of the flies" The quote "You can never go home again" is related to "Lord of the flies" in both literal and metaphorical sense. Luckily most of the boys could go home in a literal sense but unfortunately some of them were dead by the time rescuers came to save them. When boys were left on the island alone the savages inside them started to appear and there were few quite good reasons for that. The experience on the island changed all of them and when they were finally rescued everyone went home as sort of different persons.
