How does virtual communication influence our behaviour and relationships

Overall, they are enjoying themselves, but with what price? I have experienced that on myself. On a summer few years ago I almost didn't leave my home for the whole summer at all. By home I mean my village and the only exception was that I had a disease for a few weeks and I had to go to the doctor's in Tartu. As you can assume, I live at countryside, so I mostly socialized with my family, neighbours and of course, online. When I finally went back to the civilized world I had a blast. I was afraid, cautious and most of all retarded at communicating. I have experienced what too much virtual communication can do to us and believe me you don't want to try it. While having some negative sides, virtual communication is generally still a very good thing because thanks to this advanced technology people from countries around the globe can communicate quickly and easily every day. And not only ordinary people use it; virtual

Character sketch - Shel, Orlando by Virginia Woolf

another. Shel had a castle in the Hebrides, but it was ruined. He was not that rich and spent his time mostly at the sea. Before meeting Orlando he had been on his way to join his brig, but the wind blew from the wrong direction and he could not continue his journey. He was passionate about his job because he did a little model on the ground of the Cape Horn when Orlando asked about it and told stories that had happened during his travels. At the same time, Shel was afraid of the wind change because it meant he had to choose between the woman he loved and his duty as a seaman. When Orlando said that she loved Shel, they discovered something at the same time. He comprehended that Orlando was a man and Orlando realized that Shel was a woman. He could not believe that Orlando was a woman because she was ,,as tolerant and free-spoken as a man" and Orlando was astonished because Shel was ,,as strange and subtle as a woman". Surprisingly their

"The Taming of the Shrew" Shakespeare

The motifs of this play are disguise, domestication, fathers and their children. Climax There is no single moment of intense action in the play, but rather a long process of development culminating in Katherine's fully changed behaviour. The climax could be seen in the wedding scene in Act III or in Katherine's decision in Act III to agree with Petruchio whatever he says. Conclusion I was a pleasantly surprised after reading this book. At first I was afraid there would be complicated use of words and heavy use of complex rhyme schemes. It was relieving to find out that the book was very easy to read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in literature. The book was fun and I am absolutely not surprised that this play is one of Shakespeare's most performed plays in the world.

many other literary awards. Lee began to write "To Kill a Mockingbird" in the 1950s in New York and published it in 1960. Setting The action takes place in Maycomb, Alabama, a town invented by the author. Between 19331935. Maycomb is a quiet little town and many people there seem to be narrow-minded. Main Characters The main characters are Scout, Atticus and Jem. Scout is a little girl, she is intelligent, thoughtful and brave. She definitely seems boy-like because she isn't afraid to fight with boys. Scout also has a warm heart, she always has best intentions and worries about the poor. Jem, Scouts brother, is entering puberty and is not so stable as Scout. There is seen clear progress in Jem's way of thinking during the novel. Atticus is the widowed father of Jem and Scout and also a prominent lawyer. He is respected by everyone. He is also the idol of Scout and Jem because he fights and stands out for justice. Plot

How to survive in Estonia. Guide for foreigner

I advise you to start with learning Estonian language. Without language you do not have the opportunity to watch the news, read newspapers, communicate and be understood by the public. You are excluded from the cultural context of the country. It is useful to familiarize yourself with all those things which "hang" teen-music, movies, their interests and hobbies, it will give a chance to understand the mentality of the country. And it is very important not to be afraid of people, and try to be sociable. After all, loneliness is one of the main problems when people begins to yearn by homeland. Certainly, who is going to live here, sooner or later, will decided "the housing problem." And for this course you need to have a steady income. But do not buy housing at once, you need to live at least a year to go through all the seasons, fall, winter, spring. It is necessary to find out all the details with the purchase of real estate, if you are a foreigner in Estonia

distinguishing essential truths of life from unimportant ones, however she still remains to be uncertain, which may indicate that her discoveries are not all-encompassing in nature and may fade away from the memory. From the very beginning it is evident that Laura is a young lady, who tries to learn how to establish herself. During that process she has to step out of her comfort zone for several times. She is often afraid of looking silly or simply weird. As well as, she constantly questions how she should behave. Therefore, she often imitates her mother or somebody else to be taken seriously. Once she attempted to impose herself among workmen, but failed miserably and lost face. Namely she attempted to mimic her mother`s voice in an unconvincing way by saying "Good morning" to workmen. Afterwards she felt very much ashamed. Nevertheless,

Because of the prisonlike position I’m in, I’m often on the verge of crying and I feel like I can’t control my feelings anymore. Despite the insane amount of worry and stress I still hope that the virus slowly disappears and we all can go on with our regular lives. It would be great if the scientists would discover the cure and all the ill would get the treatment they need. But I don’t think it will happen in near future. I hope that COVID-19 is afraid of warm weather and people will not get sick in April or May. In the meantime I think that Estonian government will keep all the schools locked down until 6th April. I don’t even want to think about the time when we all need to go to school after a break that lasted so long. It will be stressful to say at least. I hope this situation is resolved as quickly as possible and with minimal damage to people and businesses in the whole world. Give my regards to your family and please stay safe!

But I improved and next moment i was back to square, ready to run myself out of breath. Basketball can be unpleasant for some people. This can happen when person is very small, because basketball is kind of ,,tall people game". Basketball might become unpleasant when if anyone has received some very serious injuries, they can just start afraid playing basketball. Basketball develop me physically most of part, but it's a team game and it teaches to consider to others. Since I've been playing this for 13 years, may be believeable that basketball is developed me from all sides. So, I can say that basketball has own good and bad sides, like all the things in this word. There is two extreame options about basketball you can love with its goods and bads or you can hate it

Movie review

He is assigned a new partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo). Teddy though has another reason for accepting the case, to find a man he believes killed his wife. He is haunted by images of his past atrocities committed in World War II and by visions of his dead wife. As he investigates he becomes more and more sure that there is something sinister being kept secret on the island and more afraid that he may never escape. That probably doesn't really do the plot justice but I'm afraid if I say to much I'll give away the ending. The way that Scorsese has crafted this film is really remarkable. The scenes are layered in a way where you never really know the true motivations behind many of the characters. A mystery in the truest sense of the word. The acting is top notch as well which just lends more to the mystery. DiCaprio is great as Teddy Daniels a man desperate to find the truth about the island

One year she forgot everything, except the beginning and the end, so she improvised everything in between. I was really proud of her, cause at first I thought she’s gonna freek out and run away. But she didn’t. Kids, they’re fierce. If they don’t remember anything, they’ll make it up. They’re more afraid to just stand and watch the silent crowd than to be wrong. Ken says that kids are not afrayd to be wrong. But by the time they start going to school, they are taught to be scared of being wrong. In school, the most important subjects - math, languages and humanities – are those where you don’t have enough space to be wrong in. Decriminalizing Cannabis in Estonia

the effective dose to cause death, include psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana, when ingested. Gable has found no published cases in the English language that document deaths from smoked marijuana, so the actual lethal dose is a mystery. Gable’s surmise is that smoking marijuana is more risky than eating it but still safer than getting drunk by alcohol (Gable, American Scientist 2006, 94). Third reason why Estonia should decriminalize cannabis is that our doctors are afraid to write out descriptions for patients for the use of medical marijuana. By the law they are allowed to do so, but no doctor in Estonia has had the courage to write out the description for it. That leads the patients to go on the Black market in search of cannabis, which makes them criminals in the eye of law. The patient can never be sure of the quality of the cannabis he or she is buying in the Black market, with the description the patient would receive marijuana which is controlled and pure

towards how he would look in society's eyes. He had previously said "when it counts, I have strength and courage enough as a man to take on the whole weight" (Ibsen 1129) of anything that would cause Nora harm. This is ironic because he fully intends to lay the blame on Nora, when she acted solely out of love. Also, when it came to firing Krogstad, Nora's opinion was not even consulted by Torvald as he was afraid of being judged by his co-workers for being "swayed by all kinds of outside pressure" (1129). Nora was only the wife, and her duties did not include input on any decisions. As Torvald was the owner of the home, and Nora was simply the doll, she was expected to be perfect and submissive to him. There are many references to Nora as his sky-lark or squirrel, that give the feeling that Nora is another child in this home. Her

The picture of Dorian Gray

We meet our three central characters at the beginning of the book, when painter Basil Hallward and his close friend, Lord Henry Wotton, are discussing the subject of Basil's newest painting, about handsome young man named Dorian Gray. Henry told Basil that it's his best work yet and should it sent to the best art gallery in London. Basil refuses to send, because he has pu too much of himself into it. Lord Henry wants to meet this mysterious boy, but Basil doesn't want him to because he's afraid that Henry will change and influence Dorian by his clever words. However, Lord Henry gets his wish--Dorian shows up that very afternoon. The both men thinks that Dorian is very good-looking man with his bright blue eyes and gold hair. Also he had an open, honest face, no dark secrets in that. Over the course of the day, Henry manages to totally change Dorian's perspective on the world. From that point on, Dorian's previously innocent point of

At one point I wanted to evolve more in this topic and for this reason examined different opportunities that a secondary school student had at the moment. I found out that for college students there was a circle at the university called Circle of International Relations. I knew that this would be very useful for me but certainly I was afraid, because there were all adults in this circle. One day I summoned up my courage and went there and it was so interesting! Currently, it is my third year there and belivably I am still the youngest participant. My interest about the subject has not disappeared, just the opposite, it has become stronger! When I consider which are the things that I am most proud of at the moment, then it is pretty hard to point out something special, because I think that they are not really mighty achievements

Why do we need morality?

So to get what we all want - happiness, peace and security, we must make compromises and obey the laws and moral rules. In general, morality is a form of social control. As long as most of us follow the rules and cooperate, our lives are good. So in other words it is all about the majority - as long as the great number of people accept this, the humankind will be in prosper. Without morality the world would be an unbearable place and people would be miserable, lonely, unsatisfied and afraid. A great novel about morality and its effect is Lord of the Flies by William Golding (1945). This piece of work is a good example of a society without rules are moral values. In this book a group of boys end up on a desert island and they do not obey the rules anymore. At first the boys are happy to be out of the adult world, but soon they face a total chaos. So they create some kind of system that only one may talk at a time and they also choose a leader for themselves (democratically)

Toronto's Board of Education has documented that in grades 4 to 8, one child in five was victimized periodically, while one in 12 was bullied weekly or daily. How can you tell if your child is being bullied? Most schoolchildren won't tell you, often because they are afraid of reprisals. But certain symptoms should make you suspicious. These include unexplained reluctance to go to school; fearfulness or unusual anxiety; sleep disturbances and nightmares; vague physical complaints (headaches, stomachaches), especially on school days; or belongings that come home ripped or are missing altogether. If you suspect your child may be a victim, it's best not to ask the question outright. Dr. Sarah

“You can never go home again“ Lord of the flies

It is evidently accurate to say that when boys first arrived to the island they were still kids, but when they left the island they all had lost their innocence and become almost grown-up. Therefore as the boys were finally rescued they could go home in a literal sense but all of them knew that nothing would ever be the same again. Well-behaved British boys gradually became savages on the island because it was natural that in each of them occured survival instinct when they were afraid. Golding also demonstrated in the novel that savagery in human nature is more fundamental then instinct of civilisation and that is why Jack got all the power to himself in the end and Ralph was left all alone. Author showed how kids lost their innocence during the book and became much more mature and Kristel Sepp TIK IB 09.10.09 grown-up, so when they got the opportunity to go home again, they really were not the same kids as they were in the beginning.

Edward speeds over to the Swan home at once, while Charlie worries that perhaps Jacob should leave beforehand. Jacob chooses to stay, completely at ease. When Edward arrives, his first concern is only for Bella's hand. He examines it and affirms that it is most likely broken. He attempts to confront Jacob, but Charlie steps in quickly, afraid of a fight. Edward takes Bella and leaves, heading to the car and planning to take her straight to Carlisle, but Jacob follows them outside. After helping Bella into the Volvo, Edward turns to finally address Jacob, and they engage in a brief and seemingly calm yet intense altercation concerning Bella and both their intentions to fight for her. Bella never says another word to Jacob, refusing to even return his smiles or acknowledge his well-wishes for her injured hand.

G. B. Shaw' "Pygmalion"

" (Ma pean elama teistele ja mitte iseendale - see on keskklassi tema kõnekeele muutmisest, selle kõige taga peab olema ka moraal.) mingisugune sisu ning ka kõige ilusamini deklameeritud tekstis peab "Would the world ever have been made if its maker had been olema iva. afraid of making trouble? Etiquette in America

Arrive within 5 to 15 minutes after the time on the invitation. Never arrive before the time you were invited. If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late, phone your hosts and apologize. · If offered a second helping of food, feel free to take what you like. Americans like people to eat a lot. · When you are invited to an event, it is very important to call or drop a note letting the host know if you will attend. · Do not be afraid of hurting someone's feelings by responding "no" to an invitation. People will be offended if you say you will attend and then do not come. · If an invitation reads "6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.," leave very close to the ending time. 11.HELPFUL HINTS FOR A FOREIGNER · .It is considered rude to stare, ask questions or otherwise bring attention to someone's disability. · Smoking is very unpopular in the United States.

More way of life or rule, mob forcibly overthrowing elected governments. Threat of perpretual war, such people never satisfied. Yanukovich was democratically elected. Mob was not homogenous, was majority of young, liberal people. But people doing hard works, beating and shooting at Ukrainian policemen. Putin pragmatic, brutal, but not crazy. Are we looking through ideological lens? Putin not a cold warrior, does not want to reconstruct SU; more in Washington. Lithuanians not afraid of Russia coming in; more afraid of gas prices through roof. Deft statesmanship, got exactly what he wanted, Russia's vital interests in Crimean. Trampled on intl law. Thing of beauty pre-20 th century. Plebescite. Country never stopped seeing self as major world power. Nobody asked them what country they wanted to be a part of 1991. We tend to have unrealistic ideas of what is right and wrong regarding intl relations. 1991 also a violation of people's right to self-determination

The art of dance

blindfolded, twenty minutes lying down in silence and then five miutes more dancing. This technique is the best way to meditate for those, who are having problems staying still. It’s a greate way to direct energy inward. [7] There’s many reasons, why some people like to dance. Everyone of us might have their own. Some love to dance, because they like to entertain people. Some of them are doing it as an art form. Many of us love to workout or maditate with dancing. People who are afraid to speak out use dancing to express themselves. But it doesn’t matter what’s the reason, matters the feeling about it. Lewis Carroll

Another defect he carried into adulthood was what he referred to as his "hesitation", a stammer he acquired in early childhood and which plagued him throughout his life. At a time when people commonly devised their own amusements and when singing and recitation were required social skills, the young Dodgson was well equipped to be an engaging entertainer. He reportedly could sing tolerably well and was not afraid to do so before an audience. He was adept at mimicry and storytelling, and was reputedly quite good at charades. Social Connections In the interim between his early published writing and the success of the Alice books, Dodgson began to move in the PreRaphaelite social circle. He first met John Ruskin in 1857 and became friendly with him. He developed a close

the door. It is a British friend of yours, not a very close friend, but closer than a mere acquaintance. He or she has come to pay you an unexpected visit. You suggest that your friend comes in and stays for lunch. But your friend is embarrassed to find that he or she has called at a mealtime and refuses invitation. You want to persuade your friend to change his or her mind. Here are two possible ways of doing this": A) Please stay. We don't have much, I'm afraid, but we'd be honoured. Whatever we have is yours. B) This is no trouble at all. There's plenty of food. Don't think twice about it. We're used to people popping in. Which of these two do you think would be a more successful way to persuade a British person? A or B? Why? 13. British people like to `dress down' on Sundays. What might be the reason? British people have to follow clothing formalities all week so they really want to take

before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with. Me? I'm scared of everything. I'm scared of what I feel, of what I've said, of who I am, but most of all I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my life the way I feel when I'm with you. I wish you could hear all the words I'm too afraid to say. A relationship is only made for two, but some bitches don't know how to count - all those moments will be lost in time , like tears in the rain . - people always tell me to follow my dreams , so thats why i follow u . - life is too short to be anything , but happy . - Don't fall in love . Giidindus- Toompea

day 5-storeyed gate tower dates from 1380. Lühike Jalg (Short Leg) was first mentioned in 1353. This street belonged to the lower town and was used by pedestrians only because it is and was only a stairway street. The relations between the Upper and Lower towns were tense at the best of times as both the rich merchants of the Lower Town and the noblemen and knights of the Upper Town wanted to obtain more power. Due to the conflicts between the two towns the merchants in the Lower Town were afraid of raids from the Upper Town and had the street connecting the two Towns fortified with a wall and gatehouses. The new wall has become known as the Wall of Mistrust. During night all traffic between the Upper and Lower town was stopped and the gates were shut at 9pm. The Short Leg gate tower at the top of Lühike Jalg Street was created in 1454-56 and it connects Short Leg and Long Leg. It can be considered the most haunted
