Over 40 tonnes of the deadly methyl isocyanate (MIC) leaked from the Union Carbide Corporation Plant, toxifying and killing thousands of people. This study was aimed at determining the causes of this disaster and also the effect it had on people and the environment. A thorough analysis was done on several scientific works and articles. A lengthy documentary was also included in the analysis. The analyses established that a metal plate was missing from between two pipes in the Union Carbide Corporation in which water managed to reach the MIC tank. The chemical reaction between water and MIC caused a major temperature and pressure rise in the tank which allowed the toxic gas to escape from the emergency pipes. The Crucial Problems of the World There are many problems in the world right at this time. One of the biggest and maybe the one which people talk about the most is the waste and recycling problem. As we all know, humankind is producing more waist than we can handle, reproduce and recycle. Even in here, Estonia, people are thinking of building a nuclear power station, because fossil fuel is soon depleted. The other problem, a little bit connected to the first one, is the greenhouse effect. The light from the Sun reaches us and after that the light reflexes from the Earth's surface back to the space, but thanks to the pollution, it absorbs and reflexes back to us again, causing global warming. The third problem is the fastly growing population. There are now more than 7 milliard people in the world and the number is still getting bigger. Book review The Zahir Paulo Coelho 2005 331 pages Novel The novel is set in Paris and Kazakhstan. A renowed author discovers that his wife, Esther, has suddenly dissapeared leaving no trace. He gets obsessed of meeting his wife again. During the search of his wife, he meets Mikhail. The author learns the meaning of love, the power of destiny and what it means to follow your heart. During his journey, he is a completely different man. Finally he meets his wife, but everything has changed. I really enjoyed reading this book, because it was really instructive. The story was full of lessons and ethical matters to use in life. I am completely in love with the author, because he doesn't just tell the story, but keeps you thinking about it, and speaks with the readers through the words. Barriers to DH in the UK, Ireland, France, Romania and the Czech Republic have been compiled through publications and interviews. DH systems require large investments, have negative initial cash flow and long payback time, which obstructs financing. One actor should control DH from source to consumption.
