Uurimistöö: 2011. aastal avaldatud pressifotode analüüs

Kahtlemata on see nüüdisajal väga oluline aspekt edastamaks uudiseid huvitavamalt. Pressifotograafia annab lugejale ning meediatarbijale suurepärase võimaluse osa saada sellest, millest erinevatel põhjustel pole võimalik osa saada. Seega annab visuaalne aspekt kirjutavale ajakirjandusele võimaluse informatsiooni võimalikult täpselt ning kaasahaaravalt edastada, samuti tõestada. 1.2 2011. aastal premeeritud pressifotograafid Andres Putting on Delfi fotograaf, kes pälvis Aasta Pressifoto 2011 peapreemia ja parima uudisfoto preemia fotoreportaaziga "Suusakuninga tõehetk", mis kujutas emotsionaalset Andrus Veerpalut dopinguteemalisel pressikonverentsil. (Eesti Pressifotograafide Liidu koduleht. 2.03.2012) Joonis 1. Delfi fotograaf Andres Putting Allikas: Delfi. 23.03.2012 Erik Prozes on Äripäeva fotoreporter. Prozes võitis Aasta Pressifoto 2011 olemusfoto kategooria preemia fotolooga "Eesti portreed taldrikutel". (Ibid.)

Ads everywhere

Ads everywhere Advertising has become a part of everyday culture. We know all of the tricks that advertisers use to sell us their products and so they need to work harder than ever to keep us interested. The latest trend designed to do this is known as ambient advertising. It’s a practice of putting ads in unusual places. It allows the advertisers to be flexible. One recent award-winning campaign advertised a modern art agency by putting stickers on everyday objects such as lamp-posts and paving stones. It seems that wherever you go these days some advertising agency will have got there first and will be desperately trying to grab your attention.

motorhome. James took it all together with one nice sentence: ,,It's a Land Rover with curtains on the outside". That is pretty much all there is to it though Richard assured us that it will all be explained when we get to our camping site. No time later we were handed a challange. We had to drive over 200 km to Cornwall. As James May was boasting about his motorhome, Richard couldn't really do the same. The noise the motorhome ,,parts" or ,,walls" made was just terrible. Putting that aside, according to Hammond the heating system of the Land Rover wasn't as good as he had hoped for as well, describing it as ,,quite chilly". My motorhome was of course doing fine. Apart from some wobbling everything was just aces. Just to be sure I wasn't a threat on the road I had James pull behind me to take a quick look. He wasn't of much help since he only laughed and nor was Richard up front for that matter.

Christmas letter

Dear John, Thank you for your letter. It was very interesting to get to know more about British Christmas and the traditions related to it, but now I would like to write about how we celebrate Christmas in Estonia. Usually we start to prepare for Christmas four weeks before it, by putting out advent candles. Each week we light one, till by Christmas it's four of those. On Christmas Eve we usually go to cemetery, where we light candles and also go to church to hear Christmas service and where well known Christmas songs are sung. After that we go home, to eat traditionally sauerkraut with potatoes and blood sausage and also roast pork or brawn. Earlier we have baked and decorated gingerbreads. Then soon Santa Claus comes with a bag full of presents

Capital Punishment Should be Abolished

the governments will follow this. It's a murder. The first question that comes to mind is, is it ethically acceptable to kill someone? When you execute a person, what is the difference between you and the criminal who has committed the crime of killing another individual. Furthermore, capital punishment can be inappropriate and unjust. It's not necessary. There is always a solution to the problem, instead of putting people to death sentence we could simply put them behind bars as he or she may improve himself. For instance, persons who have served life sentences have most of the time change their attitudes and their behaviors and have also made worthwhile contribution to the society.

Crime is a disease

Crime is a Disease Every day there are thousands of crimes commited in the world. Some are accidental, others planned. People have different opinions what should be done with criminals. Some say that as primitive people they need primitive punishment. Therefore they would just be sentenced a large fine or sent to jail. I think that putting criminals in prison should help and change them, but in reality it doesn’t go like that. Even if they get out of prison or pay their fine, they usually fall back to their old ways and commit another crime. Criminals have different backgrounds so they have different reasons for their actions. Some come from damaged homes, others may have been influenced by their friends or community they live in, for excample getthos, some may have commited a crime out of lifes circumstances

Essay: Crime is a Disease

Crime is a Disease Every day there are thousands of crimes commited in the world. People have different opinions what should be done with the criminals. Some say that as primitive people they need primitive punishment. Therefore they would just be sentenced a large fine or sent to jail. I think that just putting criminals in prison does not help neither does it change them. Thus, when they get out of prison or pay their fine, they usually tend to fall back to their old ways and commit another crime. Criminals have different backgrounds so they have different reasons for their deeds. Some come from broken homes, some may have been influenced by their friends, some may have commited a crime out of lifes circumstances, for example poverty, and some crimes might happen by an accident, by human error.

Military service – pros and cons

for those, who don`t know what to do with their lives. On the other hand, military service has its disadvantages. Not everyone is suitable for military and some men couldn`t manage that pressure. Yet, in democratic countries people should have a chance to choose their destiny by themselves and army restrics our freedom. Besides, the young men are isolated from real world and being away from family and friends could affect their lives. In addition, young people are putting their lives at risk despite the fact that everything seems to be safe. Military service has always been an important subject. This is important for the country and could give good effect to men lives. However, military service is not for everyone and there are also arguments against it.

Complain letter

I would rather it go to you which is why I am writing. I think it's a tragedy when a group of obnoxious idiots are allowed to interfere with our daily lives and pursuits. At times, I get some of that noise near my home, and I certainly call the police when I hear offenders in my own neighborhood. My insistence at having them enforce current regulations in my area has made a difference. I am also reviewing our local noise ordinance and speaking with others who are interested in putting an end to this offensive behavior that takes away from our quality of life. When the boom box noise has been controlled in this area, I would be pleased to begin using your store again. I encourage you to work with the local police department to greatly strengthen enforcement of our noise ordinances. You are losing business because of the contant presence of boom cars. Yours truly, Kelli Sepp

In this case the threat could be explained as: "Give me a treat or I will play a trick on you." Children today usually do not play tricks if they do not get treats. However, some children still get up to mischief (pranks or things to make fun of people; like putting toilet paper in trees; writing on windows with soap or throwing eggs at peoples' houses). People sometimes dress up as ghosts, witches, goblins and other scary things for Halloween. A jack-o-lantern is typically a carved pumpkin. It is associated chiefly with the holiday of Halloween. The tradition of carving a lantern started in the British Isles however, it was traditionally carved out of a turnip. They were created on All Hallows' Eve and left on the door step to ward off evil spirits. Essee Marilyn Manson album ''Eat me Drink me''

Mina kuulasin läbi Marilyn Mansoni albumi ''Eat me, Drink me''. Kogu album kestab kokku 52 minutit. Antud plaat on saanud inspiratsiooni Lewis Carroll'i raamatust ''Alice imedemaal'' . Albumi pealkiri on tulnud sellest, kuidas Alice leidis pudeli, mille peale oli kirjutatud ''Joo mind!'' ning hiljem leidis koogi, mille juures oli silt ''Söö mind!''. (''Eat me, Drink me'', Wikipedia, 15.09.2011); (''Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'', Wikipedia, 15.09.2011) ''See on nii sünge muusika,'' ütles ema mu toast mööda kõndides, kui kuulasin seda plaati.

Make-up

Erst I wore hair clips, but now I don't. Sometimes when my hair are in a plait, I only wear topknot. If I could get a new make-up kit, it will be consist of mascara, eyeliner, different lip balms and lip glosses, mirror, face powder, rouge, oils, perfume and different eye shadows. I always wear make-up at school and I'll always have my make-up bag with me. My opinion is that, it's okay to wear make-up at school. My mom don't spent ages putting on make-up because she only wear mascara, little bit eye shadow, powder, rouge and lip gloss. I never share any make-up with my mother because we both have owns. I don't know why, but I always like to give a gifts for my friends of jewellery and make-up. Usually I wear a lot of jewellery like earrings, necklace, rings, bracelet. I have five ear pierces. Almost every teenage girl have at least earlobes. A lots of boys have earrings too. I don't like it

Golf

Golf Golf is a precision club and ball sport, in which golfers use many types of clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a golf course using the fewest number of strokes. While the modern game of golf originated in 15th century Scotland, the game's ancient origins are unclear and much debated. Some historians trace the sport back to the Roman game of paganica, in which participants used a bent stick to hit a stuffed leather ball. One theory asserts that paganica spread throughout Europe as the Romans conquered most of the continent, during the first century BC, and eventually evolved into the modern game. A golf course consists of a series of holes, each with a teeing ground that is set off by two markers showing the bounds of the legal tee area, fairway, rough and other hazards, and the putting green surrounded by the fringe with the pin (normally a flagstick) and cup. A typical golf course...

The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see

foreign country to see what it has to offer. However, for people in the travel community these titles may have vastly different meanings. For many, when hearing the word tourist, a stereotypical picture comes to mind: a person with cargo shorts, a hawaiian shirt, a huge hat and sunglasses with a camera around their neck and map in hand. That is rather common amongst tourists, wearing what’s comfortable and they’d wear at home and not putting much effort into blending in. Their trips are usually planned to the T, leaving no room for any spontaneous adventures that might come up along the way. They tend to only see the ‘must see’ tourist attractions, stay in a good hotels overall sticking to all the amenities that are similar to home. A traveller however is different. Generally speaking, a person who considers themselves a traveller, will try to immerse in the local culture as much as possible. They make an effort to

How to become successful?

How to become successful? Success as a rather abstract term has become the main goal that youngsters want to achieve nowadays when they are putting the things in their lives into perspective. Success is measured individually by each person based on their values, intrests and achievements. But what could be the gameplan when inching one's way towards success in my point of view? First of all, i believe that figuring out the path one wants to follow in life and being persistent on staying on that path is even more important than a well-rounded education. An

The most pressing environmental issues in Estonia

Gases which are produced by cars contain carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide in the air causes global warming, which is the result of the green house effect. Furthermore, it will change our climate. In addition our air is polluted by hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from plants and factors. Substantially, in Kohtla-Järve and Maardu. Our water is also polluted. We can't drink it, because there are a lot of chemical ingredients. In some cities water is chlorine a lot. As I know a lot of waste waters are putting out to see, near in the beach. In witness of it is appearance of blue seaweeds. In my opinion these thing is very dangerous and harmful for health. As I mentioned before we have also recycling problem. I think that today that problem should be smaller because people should to recycle rubbish. Today we have different containers, separately for paper, biodegradable things and bottles. I can't understand why people don't do it. Is it really so hard? I think no.

1984 book conclusion

wanted to full five-year plan in four years. In my opinion it goeds together with nowadays- that people want to get more and faster, they do not have any patience and expect everything to happen very fast. In my opinion there were 3 main ideas which go very well together with nowadays society ideas, problems and fears. George Orwell wanted to show dangers of totalitarianism, but nowadays if a country limits people´s freedom- it is also dangerous like putting a ban on media or internet. Also controlling information and history- country can rule people and who has never seen truth can´t see anything differently, if people hear lies all the time they start having doubts and problems in their lives. There was very well carried out idea about technology and power- how they can cause danger to people- nowadays technology is really developed so it is really easy to keep track on people what they do in their lives for example what

ESSEE Getting the most out of myself

These types of tips can be very helpful in a school environment, especially when the workload is burdening and deadlines are nearing day by day. Thirdly, getting the most out of myself is easy, when I have a goal, vision or an objective. I find it helpful to break a big goal into smaller parts that are easier to achieve. In other words, making an impossible task possible. It might seem like a mental strain to write a book, but if you start by creating one character, then carry on by putting that character into action and building an environment to suite the activity, the task does not seem that daunting anymore. I always follow that technique and I have not yet found any assignment or challenge impossible. Therefore it is not the level of difficulty of the task that determines the result, but rather the way of thinking. When equipped with a positive attitude, motivation and study skills, one will always find it easier to find the right way in

SPEECH: Attitude rather than aptitude is the key to succsess

Nearly every person in this room have big hopes for the future. Almost EVERY ONE of us want to accomplish more than the others. We've set our standards high. Much higher than they were before and every generation lifts them higher. Every one of us dream of/about all kind of things. Some of them are small and brief, some bigger and long termed. Unfortunately, most of those remain to dreams, because nowadays people are lazy. Somewhy we are waiting things to happen without putting any effort to it. They say patience is a vertue, but if you want things to happen you need to come out from your comfort-zone and take action. (50 sek) When I was searching for materials for this speach, I constantly noticed 80/20 rule. It sais/d that FULLY eighty percent of success will be determined by attitude and ONLY twenty by aptitude. (I think the numbers are a litte bit exaggerated. 60/40 would be more suitable.) In my opinion, it goes for every field

there are many different approaches taken. In some countries (such as Finland and Sweden) higher education is still free. In other countries, higher education is purchased like any other service. In many countries (such as the UK and the USA), fees are charged to students but how much of the cost of education these cover varies greatly. Often governments offer loans and financial support to help students pay these fees. However, more and more people want to go to university, putting student funding systems under pressure. So should Governments charge fees for higher education, or provide it for free? Government should charge fees because it is well known that the `education' is often only a small part of the university experience. Students spend far too much time and money drinking, partying and wasting time. Even if there is an argument for funding higher education itself (which we doubt) then it is very hard to justify why low income

Which is more important-sport or science?

How long will we continue to delude ourselves about the importance of sports and its participants in relation to the value and vital nature of research technologies? The question of "what is a sport?" was recently bandied about on the BleacherReport.com and besides the myriad of opinions is this. A sport is merely a pastime, an amusement and nothing else. It makes me laugh to see how seriously it seems to be taken, by so many, considering the plight we are putting ourselves in ecologically. Besides all of this, I myself still enjoy sport and being distracted by it. It is merely the importance placed on it that bothers me so much. It remains ridiculous to me that the pursuit of sport has gotten to be in certain situations to be a more powerful thing than the pursuit of knowledge. Are we deluding ourselves because we are scared of what tomorrow will bring?

Writing and Me - An Essay

Do you know the feeling after you wake up from a really good dream? When you are desperately clinging to it, trying to remember everything, but it all just floats away as if you were trying to catch smoke with your bare hands? That is what writing feels like to me. I used to think that I had so much to say, so many ideas to share, so much inside of me that just had to be let out or otherwise I would explode. I knew what I wanted to say, it was all there in my head, but when it came to putting it down on paper, I could not find the right words to express myself. Every time I picked up a pen or took out a sheet of paper, everything escaped my mind. As I searched for the perfect words, everything I was trying to say slipped away from me. All of the ideas that I had been so eager to share with the world just disappeared, leaving me empty inside with nothing to say. I am like the Adélie penguin who wants to present it's potential mate with the perfect

Police warn of 'lethal' fake beauty products on sale

The unwanted elements can lead to swelling, rashes and in the most serious cases, lethal poisoning. Consumers using websites to buy fake goods have also been warned that they are at risk of having their identities stolen. Detective Superintendent Maria Woodall said: ''Many people don't know about the real dangers counterfeit beauty products pose to their health. Criminals are exploiting every opportunity to fool customers into buying counterfeits in order for them to make some quick cash - putting peoples' health, homes and lives at risk. Beauty products are meant to enhance your features, however the fakes can do quite the opposite. Our general rule is if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. Not only could these products have serious implications to your health and wellbeing but by simply going online and buying from a rogue site or dealer, your personal and financial information is at risk.We have had victims who have bought fake items online only to

In order for experiences to be educational, they must extend into an expanding world of subject matter consisting of facts, information, and ideas. The educator must view teaching and learning as a continuous process of reconstructing experience. This occurs only when the educator can look to the future with the perspective of viewing each present experience as a moving force that influences future experiences (Dewey, 1938, p. 87). The challenges for the educator are in the formation of ideas, putting those ideas into action, observing the conditions that result, and in organizing facts and ideas for future use (Dewey, p. 88).

Wooden pallets

SLAID 1 I am going to talk about wooden pallets. After I am finished I will answer any question you might have about my presentation. SLAID 2 Lets start with history. Wooden pallets date back to 1000 B.C. Egiptians used sheets of wood for transport and storage. These wooden sheets are called skids or sleads. They are still in use but their shape and durability has changed a lot. It was the during the early 1920’s, shortly after the modern forklift was invented, when skids evolved into pallets, revolutionizing the way merchandise was stored and transported. The new design of pallets allowed goods to be moved, stored and stacked with extraordinary speed and versatility. During the WWII the allied countries established a standard size pallet to ease shipment and transportation. This agreement skyrocketed the production and popularity of wooden pallets during the war After the war variety of sizes and designs were produced and used. The tra...

allowed to use his car for work. Carol was encouraged to go everywhere on foot or by bicyle (women rarely drove 50 years ago), told to ignore the washing machine and dishwasher, and she was discouraged from using the telephone. How did they cope? The much-dreaded three days got under way! Old-fashioned meals, games, and entertainment were planned for the evenings. After eating together at the kitchen table, they sat playing cards, putting off doing the washing-up because they all hated doing that. Carol was surprised at how long everything took. "By the time I had washed up the breakfast things and got back from walking the children to school, it was nearly lunchtime. Getting to the shops, which normally takes five minutes in the car, took at least an hour, so it was impossible just to pop out for a loaf of bread. It was strange having to wait until the washing dried in the garden before

Chapter Thirteen – Newborn

After transporting the first group, he set out on his return journey to Galveston. It was then he met up with three vampire women: Maria, Nettie, and Lucy, all survivors of recently lost battles. Incapacitated by their beauty and his own sense of propriety, he was unable to run from them. Maria, a petite brunette and their leader, sensed that Jasper was special and turned him rather than kill him. Maria wanted to reclaim her territory, and built a newborn army, putting Jasper in charge of the others. His ability to control the emotions of those around him enabled him to build a large, lethal group of newborns that could work together. They were very successful. Jasper lived this life for decades, training, fighting with, and then disposing of the newborns. As the years wore on, the violence and hate took their toll on him, but Maria had told him that there was no other way. A newborn named Peter proved so useful that he was put in charge of watching over the

Eclipse, Chapter Fourteen – Declaration

Bella's first (and only human) high-school graduation is entirely appropriate. Edward informs Bella of Jasper's concern that they get help in their fight against the newborns. Jasper and Carlisle are trying to track down old friends to join the fight including Maria, but nobody wants to involve the southerners. Edward is convinced that someone will help them: no one wants a visit from the Volturi. Bella feels physically ill at the thought of the Cullens putting themselves in harm's way, and can't even consider the possibility that Edward might be hurt, or worse. Edward's confidence does nothing to quell the terror building inside her at the thought of losing "the core of her existence." In her panic she suggests that in the week it will take to prepare for the fight she could be changed into a vampire and be ready to help them. Edward turns rigid at the suggestion, and Alice quickly puts the thought to rest, reminding Bella that

not touch the zinc granule. Observe whether any hydrogen evolves on the copper surface? Explain, why copper did not react with diluted hydrochloric acid! Adding copper wire doesnt make H extract. Copper is less active than H. H starts to extract when connect copper wire to Zinc, because zinc corrodes when connected to more active metal. Now put the copper wire into contact with the zinc and observe whether hydrogen will evolve on the copper surface. By putting copper and zinc into contact with each other in the solution of hydrochloric acid (an electrolyte), you have created a galvanic pair. Zinc as the metal with more negative potential will be the anode and copper, with more positive potential, the cathode. Which of the two metals will dissolve (corrode)? Write the chemical equations of the reactions occurring on the anode and the cathode! Reaction on anode: 2+ ¿ -¿ Zn¿ Zn 2 e ¿

Health topic

They can easily be cured if you rest and make medicine properly. But if you don't cure them well, they might turn into a worse disease. Cold, for example, can develop into sinusitis (põsekoopapõletik), cough into pneumonia(kopsupõletik) or asthma. Besides falling ill with one of these diseases you may hurt yourself in many other ways. You may sprain your ankle, break your leg or cut your finger. If you cut your finger you must stop the bleeding by putting a handage on it. In serous cases of accidents you must ring for an ambulance. Some diseases are infectious. For example infectious diseases are most common children's diseases such as measles, mumps, scarlet fever and chicken pox. Some diseases can be vaccinated against. Not all diseases are infectious. A very widely spread present-day trouble is allergy. It means that people are over-sensitive to certain things. Many people suffer from heart diseases

Linguistics lexicon handout

The main grammatical mechanisms that languages have for creating new words are derivation and compounding. Some languages prefer one mechanism over the other. These mechanisms are fairly systematic and predictable and hence tend to feature in discussions of language structure. Derivation generally involves the use of affixation of various types, e.g. getting the noun derivation from the verb derive. Compounding involves putting together two existing elements of the lexicon (normally "content" words rather than grammatical words and affixes) to create a new word, like matchbox. In both derivation and compounding there is a strong element of compositionality, meaning that the meaning of the new word is broadly predictable from the meaning of its component parts. Probably the main non-grammatical way in which languages get words for new things is by metaphorical extension of the meaning of some existing word

the English versions do. For me anyways). When I wrote the literary translation, I tried to reinstate that artistic and compassionate flow of the original. "True love conquers all", "universal truths", and "succumb" are some of the 4 compassionate phrases that I feel demonstrate the feeling of the original. The last statement, about God and him putting that force in place, was tricky. I handled it by modifying the entire sentence structure and using key words to tie ideas together. I went back and add the word force to the previous sentence, and made sure driven was in the right spot as well. I wanted to make sure the readers understood what exactly god put into place. I think I did a good job of that, but if you didn't get it the first time please read it again as in my "more evolved" translation. I want the
