PROBLEMS OF THE PLANET
Problems – Cause - Effect
  • Destruction of the rainforests – Trees are cut down to make room for cattle or to get paper and land – Less clean air, Loss of natural habitat = die
  • Water pollution – Factories, oil tankers, farmers use pesticities that get into our drinking water – Sea life close to extinction , No clean drinking water, Beaches polluted
  • Air pollution – Cars and factories give off fumes – Cities will become impossible to live in, Breathing problems, Allergies
  • Famine – Crops failing (saak ikaldub), Overpopulation = lack of food – People die of hunger
  • Flooding – Climate changes cause excessive raining, Polar icecaps melting ( makes sea levels rise) – People lose their homes, Loss of animals , Loss of land
  • DroughtLack of rain due climate changes – All vegetation, animals and people die
  • Holes in the ozone layerFumes and chemicals – Sunrays become dangerous ( skin cancer risk)
  • Overpopulation – Lack of opportunities to get contraceptives, Lack of education, Traditions – We need to produce more food (but it puts pressure on our planet)
  • Epidemics – Lack of hygene – Reduces population
  • EarthquakesPlanet is tired, Natural phenomena – Mud slides (maa lihked)
  • Forest firesDrought, Too dry – Animals die, People lose their homes
  • Problems of the planet #1

everyday life, they are useful and take us to the place, where we want to go. But lets be honest, they have also negative aspects. Like heavy traffic in the morning, while you are going to work and in the evening, when you are about to go home. Cars also, like factories, produce poisoned gas in the air. So instead of cars, we should use public transport or a bike, in the name of our enviroment. And what about the factories? Well, we can't remove them from the planet, but they should be built in places, where is less forest and no cities near. Water pollution Secondly, water pollution is also a main issue. Many peole throw rubbish in rivers and lakes. Ships at the sea cause oil problems, where oil flows in the water and causes a lot of damage, like killing the sea animals and also birds, who are on the seacoast, where the oil reaches

    ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS Our environment is constantly changing. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1. Pollution: Pollution of air, water and soil require millions of years to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle exhaust are the number one pollutants. Heavy metals, nitrates and plastic are toxins responsible for pollution

Just how damaged they will be by pollution is uncertain. Acid rain The term acid rain refers to what scientists call acid deposition. It is caused by airborne acidic pollutants and has highly destructive results. Scientists first discovered acid rain in 1852, when the English chemist Robert Agnus invented the term. From then until now, acid rain has been an issue of intense debate among scientists and policy makers. Acid rain, one of the most important environmental problems of all, cannot be seen. The invisible gases that cause acid rain usually come from automobiles or coal-burning power plants. Acid rain moves easily, affecting locations far beyond those that let out the pollution. As a result, this global pollution issue causes great debates between countries that fight over polluting each other's environments. For years, science studied the true causes of acid rain. Some scientists concluded that human

    Global Warming

Global Warming One of the biggest issues our planet and its inhabitants are facing nowadays is global warming. Global warming, also often referred to as the greenhouse effect, has not always been a problem. However, over the last centuries, since the Industrial Revolution things have changed. Polar regions are melting, species are dying, climate zones are shifting, migration patterns for animals such as polar bears and birds are being disrupted our world as we know it is changing

    All studied biomes

Almost all rain forests lie near the equator. Rainforests now cover less than 6% of Earth's land surface. AlpineCold, snowy, windy. In the summer average temperatures range from 10 to 15° C . In the winter the temperatures are below freezing. The winter season can last from October to May. The summer season may last from June to September. The temperatures in the Alpine biome can also change from warm to freezing in one day. Alpine animals have to deal with two types of problems: the cold and too much high UV wavelengths. 4. How are plants adapted to life in the biome? Tundra plants are small -- usually less than a foot high .The hairs on the stems of many tundra plants, such as the Arctic crocus, help to trap heat near the plant and act as protection from the wind. Plants adapted to the tundra have small waxy leaves to prevent the loss of precious water in this dry environment. Quick-Developing, Cup-Shaped Flowers Soil Not Needed for Growth
