interests of students. But certainly the most numerous is the Scout Association, founded in 1908 for boys and in 1910 for girls by Lord Baden-Powel. The Scout movement is to encourage a sense of adventure and of responsibility for others among young people. The programme of training is planned to develop intelligence and practical skills, to promote health and a sense of service. Scout training is complementary to the ordinary education. Scouts train in mapping, signalling, first aid and all the skills that arise from camping and similar outdoor activities. British scouts take part in international scout meetings, which are held approximately every four years. The membership in this or that youth organization is not compulsory in Great Britain. But everyone can find the activity he likes most. Climate in Great Britain The British Isles which are surrounded by the ocean have an insular climate.

Did you know that the sentence was first divided into subject and verb by Plato, the famed philosopher from ancient Greece? That was about 2,400 years ago! Ever since then, students all over the world have found it worthwhile to study the structure of words and sentences. Why? Because skill in speaking and writing is the hallmark of all educated people. Lesson by lesson, this book provides basic instruction in the eight parts of speech--nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and

materials and substances, such as 'coffee', or 'wood'. 2. Rule:Uncountable nouns don't use 'a' or 'an'. This is because you can't count them. For example, advice is an uncountable noun. You can't say "he gave me an advice", but you can say "he gave me some advice", or "he gave me a piece of advice". Some nouns can be both countable and uncountable. For example, we say "coffee" meaning the product, but we say "a coffee" when asking for one cup of coffee. 3. Rule:You can use 'the' to make general things specific. You can use 'the' with any type of noun - plural or singular, countable or uncountable. "Please pass me a pen" - any pen. "Please pass me the pen" - the one that we can both see. "Children grow up quickly" - children in general. "The children I know grow up quickly" - not all children, just the ones I know. "Poetry can be beautiful"- poetry in general.

We don't want to get bad grades and we choose not to show up. Maybe it's better not to give homework, like they do in Finland. Yesterday, I had 9 lessons. I got home at 5 o'clock and my mom was already home. When I walked in the door, she asked: ,,Wow, how did you get home so early, weren't you supposed to have lessons til 6?" And I actually was supposed to have lessons until 6, but the teacher was also tired from that exhausting day and let us go early. Even then, my mom got home from work an hour before me and we left home at the same time. Then I grabbed a bite and quickly started studying, because there was so much homework to do. After that, I was supposed to go training but I was so beat from all that studying that I just couldn't make it. I can imagine how many people have to cancel training to sit at school or how they have to skip school because they want to be someone, someone successful at what they love. It's not just on Mondays that we have school ridiculously late

2 The Definite Article – the, can be used with both singular and plural countable and uncountable nouns. By the time we got to the bus stop, the bus had already left. The children I saw in the playground were my brother's friends. The weather is awful today! Another general rule about the use of the Indefinite and Definite Article is that the Indefinite Article is used when mentioning someone or something for the first time and the Definite Article is used when referring to someone/something that has been mentioned before. We passed a beautiful house on our way to Birmingham. – Was the house for sale? I saw a man standing near the house. The man was well-dressed and looked like a businessman. In case of plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns, in ordinary situations, when something is mentioned for the first time, some is used.
