Nimisõnadel on tavaliselt MÄÄRAJA nende ees: my mother , much snow .
Kõige harilikumad määrajad inglise keeles on MÄÄRAV- ja UMBMÄÄRANE ARTIKKEL.
Teised määrajad sisaldavad:
  • Omastavad nimisõnad ja asesõnad: Mike ’s bike, his car.
  • Demonstreeriv/näitav asesõna: this milk , that cat, these sweets, those phones.
  • Kõik/kogus/hulk sõnad: all boys , some girls , any juice, no water ( also: every, each, either, neither, one, another , both , several , enough, many, much, more, a few, a little , few, little ).
  • Wh-sõnad: what book? Which book? Whose book? Whatever book, whichever book?
  • Hüüatus sõnad: such a day! Such bad weather ! What a day! What nice music!
    Kui on rohkem kui üks määraja, siis loevad need reeglid:
  • Aseta ALL ja BOTH määraja ette: They drank all the wine . Both his sons are tall .
  • Aseta WHAT ja SUCH hüüatuses A ja AN ette: what a pity! He’s such a nice person !
  • Aseta MANY, MUCH, MORE, MOST, FEW, LITTLE pärast määrajat: we have no more time.
