CRITISIM ABOUT IMF AND WORLD BANK

because of globalization there are large corporations like Apple, Gazprom and Allianz who rules the world and control the economic outcome with big organizations that are roled by influencial countries like China and USA. This essay is about criticism to IMF and World Bank. Critics of the World Bank and the IMF are concerned about the ‘conditionalities’ imposed on borrower countries. Often the conditionalities are attached without due regard for the borrower countries’ individual circumstances and the prescriptive recommendations by the World Bank and IMF fail to resolve the economic problems within the countries. As a example author is using Ecuador that is a small country in South America. In 1968- 1998 IMF and World Bank interviened with large loans to help the country but the growth of poverty increased form 50% to 70%, under or unemployment 15%to 70% and the public debt grew from 240 million to 16 billion (Perkins, 2004, lk 239)

We all have felt good about donating something.

But when all of these great advances come down to a personal decision, it gets difficult. I respect donors a lot, but I wish I knew what inspired them to do so. If someone handed me a donor card to fill out, my instinct would propably be to pass it right back. I do not plan to ever get rid of any part of my body. Nor do I think I am being selfish, but giving an organ away just is not realistic. Moreover, donating an organ seems to me like giving a part of your life away. But circumstances and life can change us and our thinking. If a family member, relative or friend needed a transplant in order to stay alive, it would definitely be easier to donate an organ in that case. I am not sure that would I do it for a stranger. It really depends on who needs the organ. If someone I care about needs an organ to survive, I would gladly donate it. I would much rather go through a struggle with them rather

Computer is Man's Best Friend Nowadays computers have a big part in our everyday life. It is difficult to imagine our lives without them. Unfortunately the development of technology has changed people's priorities too much. Instead of being with their loved ones, people spend more and more time in front of the computer. Has computer really become man's new best friend? On the one hand, computer can be really useful in many circumstances. For example, thanks to computers people can do their job more easily and faster, search information they need or just find out what is happening in the world in general. On the other hand, by spending too much time in front of the computer people tend to waist a lot of time. Because of the fact that Internet is full of various entertainments, people lose sense of time. It may also seem that virtual life is more interesting than the real one.

During and after their imprisonment criminals should get some mental help. A psychologist could figure out what is the reason for their criminal activity and could give them advice. If the criminal has some serious financial issues that he has not caused he should be given a job so that he could run his life back on tracks. I think that criminals should not just be sent to jail but given mental and reasonable financial help because otherwise there is no chance to raise a better community.

Therefore they would just be sentenced a large fine or sent to jail. I think that just putting criminals in prison does not help neither does it change them. Thus, when they get out of prison or pay their fine, they usually tend to fall back to their old ways and commit another crime. Criminals have different backgrounds so they have different reasons for their deeds. Some come from broken homes, some may have been influenced by their friends, some may have commited a crime out of lifes circumstances, for example poverty, and some crimes might happen by an accident, by human error. Essey: Capital Punishment

In this case, capital punishment looks like senseless cruelty. A number of states had already passed legislation adopted by the Supreme Court in June 2002 prohibiting such executions to this group of people. As for juvenile delinquents, we should admit their lack of maturity thus they may be less culpable than adults who commit crimes. Ultimately, the death penalty is an utter denial of human rights. It implies that killing is acceptable under certain circumstances. Relatively few developed countries in the world impose the death penalty. Japan and South Korea are the only established democracies in the world, other than the US, which still conduct executions. The execution rate in Japan is a small fraction of that in the US. So it is high time the US society kept track with other civilized countries which value individual life and liberty above all else, where justice, not vengeance, is the only guiding principle of the system of criminal law

favour of the death penalty and 30% were against it. The results have mostly stayed the same over the years. Although, if the question was to choose between the death penalty or life imprisonment, with absolutely no possibility of parole, then the public was more divided. The reasons for being against capital punishment can be that there is always a possibility for error and the person who has been sentenced to death was actually innocent. There can be extenuating circumstances like growing up in a traumatic environment, where they have been neglected or treated violently. Capital punishment should be carried out only if there is absolutely no doubt that the accused is really guilty and does not show any remorse for his actions.

You should give your brain some rest so it could operate more effectively. Also, while studying you become mentally tired, but on order to sleep, you should balance mental and physical fatigues, so a light workout a day could really do you good. Another fact is that you should get atleastfour and a half hours’ sleep, under no circumstances you should go into an exam under these sleeping hours. This is the absolute minimum. But the most important thing is that you start revising long before you actually have this exam, maybe even draw up a revising timetable, so you wouldn’t cram the night before. IV Even though this is a sensible statement, some people might disagree with it. Futhermore, they might think that there is no proper way to revise because they might not have a certain way of memorizing things, for example it

Although I, like every other person in this world, have my ups and downs, I mostly like to think of myself as a positive person. I always seem to surprise people with my "can-do" attitude and smiley face, especially in severe or akward situations. I tend to believe that there's always something good in bad and that things will always turn out well, no matter how hopeless circumstances might be. Some of my friends, as well as couple of my family members are strong pessimists. While spending time with them I feel how their negative and passive attitude is slowly starting to affect me too. I wish it would be the other way round - I'd affect them with my positivity. But I guess unfortunately I adopt different attitudes a lot more easily rather than spreading mine forwards. I think attitudes vary when it comes to different nationalities and cultures. While

Happiness

But I am bothered by those who can only complain, because then they miss the bright side of life. They will not even notice when something great is happening in their life. I am saying that it is possible for every one of us to find happiness in this world. The main thing is to put things into perspective, try to find some positive out of the negative because without bad things there would not be good ones either. For example, when I cannot decide in some circumstances whether to do something or not, then the main thought which occurs to my mind is "We only live once, use every opportunity, do not regret and live your life to the fullest!" The closest people of mine say that I am happy in general. I do not stand people who are in depression for something as tiny as a fly. I get happy for even the slightest bit of things such as getting a good grade or having a nice evening with my friends and just when I see someone else happy and smiling makes me smile too

Millions of people watch "reality TV" series "Behind the Glass" and "The Last Hero." The major advantage of such programmes is that they are not movies based on a strict scenario. Ordinary people find themselves in extraordinary circumstances. "Reality TV" shows the directed real life in which people are competing for a tangible reward. But unlike in real life everything happens quicker. Of course they have to follow certain rules, but generally they are free to behave, as they like. This, I think is most attractive. If you're not a strong student to begin with, studying abroad might not be a good idea. This experience might also give you a culture shock. It is tough to enter a new culture and the experience of coming back might me surprisingly difficult as well, it is called re-entry shock. Some people take this harder than the others, so everyone needs to be realistic about themselves. Being an exchange student might also be a bad idea if you have special circumstances at home, such as a terminally sick relative or a romantic partner. A year away from him or her will put quite a strain on a relationship. Studying abroad may cause you to make some choices about your commitment level if you are a college athlete or heavily involved in an organization as well. Plus you might experience some discrimination about gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. Do your homework to find out if studying there will be a good idea.

Short and long term effects of alcohol Good morning. My name is NIMI. I'm going to talk about short and long term effects of alcohol consumption. Firstly I'll tell you about short term effects and then move on to long term effects. My presentation will take about 5 minutes. If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask them afterwards. Firstly I would focus on the short term effects of alcohol consumption. The amount and circumstances of alcohol consumption play a large part in determining the extent of intoxication; for instance, consuming alcohol after a heavy meal causes alcohol to absorb more slowly. Hydration also plays a role as for determining the extent of hangovers. Initially, alcohol produces feelings of relaxation and cheerfulness, but as a result of further consumption blurred vision and coordination problems generally occure. As far as cell

For example, actions involving Derek into their lives, which also led to the exposure of their secret. Losing parents definitely had a large role in forming Julies character. As if losing both-father and later mother wasn’t hard enough, they couldn’t tell anyone and she had to take all the responsibility so they could avoid ending up in foster care. I can only imagine how Liisa-Maria Pihlak, 12B hard it must’ve been for a teenage girl, to start acting like an adult to due such circumstances. Julie’s father used to make fun of her ambitions of becoming a famous athlete, however she was actually pretty talented. She held a local record for sprint and often trained in school for the athletics team. Jack described Julie having a high ridge of cheekbone beneath her eyes, which gave her the deep look of some rare wild animal. In electric light her eyes were black and big. The soft line of her mouth was just broken by two front teeth and she had to pout a little to conceal her smile

The research also shows that where habit conservation projects have been properly implemented, the giant panda is flourishing and its numbers are increasing. "Our research suggests we have to revise our thinking about the evolutionary prospects for the giant panda and that the species has a viable future and possesses the genetic capacity to adapt to new circumstances," said Professor Bruford. Scientists count rare river dolphins The completion last month of the first-ever survey assessing pink and grey river dolphins in South America's Orinoco and Amazon Basins has been described as a triumph for fresh-water dolphin conservation. can be influenced by learning. In conclusion, however, there are several major differences between the two theories. Gregory believes that memory; habit, experience and so on must supplement meaningless sensory cues, in order to construct a meaningful world. In contrast Gibson argues that the environment (initially the optic array) provides us with all the information we need for living in the world. In most circumstances, both processes are essential as Neisser (1976) stressed in the analysis-by-synthesis model. And both theories explain different aspects of visual perception. When visual stimuli are present and visibility is good then technically the preferable theory is Gibson's theory. On the other hand Gregory's theory, however, may be most applicable when stimuli are incomplete or presented very briefly. 4

Field studies of chronic environmental stressors reveal parallel trends. Chronic environmental stressors also heighten vulnerability to the induction of learned helplessness by acute, uncontrollable stimuli (Evans, Stecker, 2004) Children's ,,places" and ,,spaces" (Min & Lee, 2006) · Children living in a large high-rise, high-density planned neighborhood of 5277 families reveal that children find most of their psychologically valued settings

existing collective security regime for impeding the United States as it seeks to fulfil the responsibilities that accompany its exalted status. Both individually and collectively, all UN member states have the right under Article 51 of the Charter to use force in response to actual or imminent attack, but this ceases once the UNSC 'has taken measures necessary to restore international peace and security', and in no circumstances does the right extend to unilateral preventive action. So long as the UNSC serves as a brake on the ability of the hegemon to perform such a role, P-5 unanimity, on which its successful functioning depends, remains vulnerable to unilateral action. Viewed from this perspective, concerns regarding the Council's legitimacy are a mere symptom of a more fundamental crisis afflicting the legitimacy of the broader collective security regime of which it is part

Even if the arguments of those appearing before the Court and the other information in the file are not absolutely conclusive in the Court's view, they provide sufficient material for the Court to have the gravest doubts whether the contested deprivation of liberty satisfied the legal requirements in the respondent State. "Lawfulness", in any event, also implies absence of any arbitrariness ... In this respect, the Court attaches great weight to the circumstances in which the applicant was forcibly conveyed to the Swiss border. Firstly, the relevant authorities waited for more than a month before serving the deportation order of 17 September 1979 on Mr. Bozano, although there was no difficulty about finding him in Limoges, where he was in pre-trial detention until 19 September and subsequently under judicial supervision ... The authorities thus prevented him from making any effective use of the remedies theoretically available to him.
