Character Sketch – Daisy The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Daisy Buchanan is a beautiful young woman from Louisville. She is the cousin of the novel’s narrator Nick Carrayway and the love interest of Jay Gatsby. She is married to an extremely rich and arrogant man called Tom Buchanan. Tom and Nick are acquaintances from college. Daisy-s appearance and the long-lasting impression she left on men is described through her voice by her cousin Nick. I looked back at my cousin, who began to ask me questions in her low, thrilling voice. It was the kind of voice that the ear follows up and down, as if each speech is an arrangement of notes that will never be played again. Her face was sad and lovely with bright

Stereotypes of the United States Hi ! Today I am talking about stereotypes in the United States. There are many many stereotypes. Ofcourse one of the biggest stereotype is that all americans are fat. That isn't true. Most of the stereotypes about USA aren't true. Many people says that all americans are ignorant arrogant lazy flippant(means kerglane in Estonia) Also that: All Muslims in the USA are terrorists All black people are unintelligent, rowdy, and prone to criminal behavior. Rowdy means kalkeja or lärmitsev in estonia and prone to criminal behavior is kalduvus krimi. Teele. Moreover that:
Moving on, we see clearly the thoughtless of Mark as he hurts people with just words. From now on we realize that our leading character will not be so likable and his need for acceptance is quite irritating. Every intention to gain respect ends in rejection or hurting someone. Zuckerberg's best friend Eduardo Savarin helps him to start off with the young company and provides them with money. What he does not know, is that the arrogant creator of Napster, Sean Parker, is trying to put him aside of the company. Many dramas, confusing misleads and people used for his own wellbeing leave Zuckerberg alone with some court cases. With many recommendations, you should divide the truth and the fiction. As far as I have read some additional information from the internet, I must say that there is some overacts in the movie. Zuckerberg is shown as a bastard and Savarin with a broken heart and betrayed by his best friend. In
8 All Saints St., Mayflower, London N1 9RL UK Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to complain about a faulty CD-walkman and your shop assistant's unprofessional behaviour. In the first place, I am not happy with my new CD-walkman. It played only on a steady surface. It also played the first three songs only and then started from the beginning. In addition to that, when I returned to the shop for help the shop assistant was very arrogant and did not provide me any help at all. I would, therefore, like you to return my money or replace my CD-walkman immediately and also talk with the shop assistant about her behaviour. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours faithfully, Merit Vislapu

minded people. Dave Ulrich, the founder of the RBL group, thinks that good leader is like a good parent. He added that people have looked for leaders as individuals for many years. An individual becomes a great leader because of the skills, of the knowledge, of the ability. The biggest mistakes that leaders can make is looking only for your own fame, money, power and glory. It is also clear that you can't be a good leader if you are arrogant. There are some strong characteristics that good leader should have. Good leader is patient, optimistic and reliable. She/he needs clear sense of her/his purpose.

was able to build an armor suit and a reactor to escape. His extensive knowledge about quantum mechanics and artificial intelligence helped him to produce a new element his father had discovered which saved his life in Iron Man 2, replacing venomous palladium in his chest. Iron Man's main strength was Tony Stark's intelligence. A plausible character needs to have weaknesses alongside his strengths. Tony Stark was an extreme example of the celebrity stereotype narcissistic, flashy, arrogant and rude. His dual life as a superhero caused him numerous personal problems. For example, he repeatedly suffered from alcoholism. Iron Man's heart condition was his other weakness worth mentioning. His heart had been replaced by a transplant powered by palladium core which was slowly killing him during Iron Man 2. Iron Man didn't seem to have any physical weaknesses at least when he was in his suit. Tony Stark repeatedly said that his technology was the most advanced in the world

Lydia with the purpose of getting them married with a rich husband that can support the family. They are not from the upper class, and their house in Hartfordshire will be inherited by a distant cousin if Mr. Bennet dies. When the wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy arrive in town to spend the summer in a mansion nearby their property, the shy and beautiful Jane falls in love with Mr. Bingley. Lizzie finds Mr. Darcy an arrogant and proud man, and she swears to loathe him forever. This is the beginning of their wonderful love story. My opinion: I found the book quite interesting, not as good as I had expected or hoped, but still something different from the usual books I read. It is a classical love story, how a man and a woman at first loath each other and later on fall in love. But it can be said that it is a quite women- dominating story, as it shows women having power, although little, but still- and how it was

them without hesitation. However, by the end of the novel, she did get engaged, which can be seen from a conversation between Nick and Jordan as Nick says that "there were several she could have married at a nod of her head /.../" (Fitzgerald 1993: 160), which means that for a long time, Jordan chose not to marry, ignoring society's pressure and its prototypical image of the 1920s women. When it came to her personality, Jordan was portrayed to be quite arrogant and restless, and she somehow thought herself to be better than others, especially, when it concerned the people who lived in West Egg. For example, the first time she spoke to Nick "she remarked contemptuously, that he lived in West Egg" (Fitzgerald 1993: 27). West Egg represented people, who had become rich on their own hard work, also known as "new money", whereas East Egg symbolized ageing and established aristocracy, "old money". Nick
and the main plot of the film is about them. The beginning of the film Rich bachelors Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darsy have settled in Meriton nearly the Bennets family. The hope to get this daughtess married to those young rich men pops up in the family. The elder sister Jane Bennet and Charles Bingley fall in love at a glance. POINT OF VIEW Book is written using the first person perspective Alex's narration includes many uncommon words and a slang called Nadsat, which are apparently common to the speech of the youth subculture in the novel. MAIN CHARACTERS Alex is a protagonist. Alex is very easily irritable and very violent, for example he is very fond of opera and classical music but his friend Dim mocks it. Alex gets furious and punches Dim. He is also very arrogant even his gang members think so. The only thing that Alex values is violence and power. He thinks that Devil is inside him and explains that way his violent acts. He is from a good family and enjoys the power he has over his close ones. He has no empathy for his victims that mean he is very cruel. There are two things that Alex enjoys: blood and classical music. IS THE PORTRAYAL OF THE CHARACTERS BELIEVABLE? WHY/NOT? While reading the book, it seems very real, because characters
A lot of action took place at Dorian's and Basil's home. The story is mostly told from Dorian's point of view by a third person, but there was a part where it seemed like Wilde himself was retelling the story. The tone of the book is shocking and immoral and it made the overall mood of the story a little bit revolting and dark. The main charachter in this book is of course Dorian Gray. He is an ideal of beauty and this makes him arrogant. He thinks that if he is beautiful, everything is allowed to him. He kills one of his friends Basil, a conventially minded and talented painter and does not even feel guilty after that. The third quite important charachter there is Lord Henry, a friend of both Dorian and Basil. He is a charming talker and a brilliant intellect. The climax occurs when Dorian kills Basil. He thinks that since Basil painted the portrait, that ruined Dorian's life, the painter should be punished for this.
Dear Sir/Madam I am writing to complain about the computer I bought at your store last week. When I tried to turn the computer on at home, it did not work. The screen was black and the computer made an odd noise. I performed in the manner as the user manual wrote. Since the computer was guaranteed for 2 years, I took it back to your store but the shop assistant did not help me. She was impolite and arrogant and she said that she could do nothing. I am most disappointed and require my money back or a new product. I hope that this problem will find a solution in a week. When Mrs. Bennet hears about that she sends her husband to talk with Mr. Bingley and after that he visits them with his rich friend Mr. Darcy who is even more richer than Mr. Bingley. Soon after that takes place a welcome ball for Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy, in that ball Bingley and Bennets oldest daughter find a connection. Opposite to his friend Darcy dosen't make a good impression to people, people think that he's arrogant, pride and thinks way too much of himself, and he also rejects Elizabeth Bennet, when she asks him to dance with her. The next day Bingley asks Jane to visit him, on the way she gets sick and Elizabeth goes there to take care of her sister. For Elizabeths disappointment, she has to see Darcy, when he sees that Elizabeth isin't interested in him, he finds her attractive and her honesty fascinates him. Scott Fizgerald Thomas ,,Tom" Buchanan is a wealthy husband of Daisy Buchanan. They live on East Egg and are both connected to Nick Carraway, the novel's narrator. Daisy is Nick's cousin and Tom was once a member of his social club at Yale. Tom was a football player, enjoys polo and is a racist. Nick describes Tom's appearance quite well: ,,He was a sturdy straw-haired man of thirty with a rather hard mouth and a supercilious manner. Two shining arrogant eyes had established dominance over his face and gave him the appearance of always leaning aggressively forward. Not even the effeminate swank of his riding clothes could hide the enormous power of that body -- he seemed to fill those glistening boots until he strained the top lacing, and you could see a great pack of muscle shifting when his shoulder moved under his thin coat. It was a body capable of enormous leverage -- a cruel body. His speaking voice, a gruff husky tenor, added to the

This shot gave me as the audience the impression that Jamal and Prem are rivals fighting it out. This was Boyle's purpose for the audience to experience. Using cinematography adds further impact because they reveal power balances between Jamal and the show host. Another technique used in this film to show conflict between Prem and Jamal was the use of dialogue and gesture. In this movie an example of the dialogue was by the way Prem talks and his personality. In this movie Prem is a very arrogant, selfish and an unfriendly person. When Prem talks in this movie he is constantly talking sarcastically trying to make Jamal seem like a joke so that he gets intimidated. An example is when Prem calls Jamal a "chiwalla". In India there are people who make tea and those people are called a chiwalla. Chiwalla's are lower class people in India. When Prem calls Jamal a Chiwalla, he is saying he is nothing and has a poor paying job. On the other hand

myth in which the beheading would have been a ritual death that insured the return of spring to the earth. The poet studies how successfully Gawain, as a man wholly dedicated to Christian ideals, maintains those ideals. Rare combination- a comedy- even a satire- of manners and a profoundly Christian view of character and destiny. The court of King Arthur is presented as the place where the ideal of chivalry has reached its zenith. But when it is invaded by the Green Knight, arrogant, monstrous, but reasonable, it suddenly becomes slightly unreal- as if the poets worked harder than the knights to enhance its glory. Sir Gawain was one of the best knights, his symbol was pentangle- truth, one of the most important qualities. Truth is put to the test in Gawain's quest to seek out the Green Chapel where he will presumably die under the Green Knight's return blow. On of the latest and certainly the best of the ME romances

Lean, but not too much If you want to show that you are interested in what someone is saying, lean toward the person talking. If you want to show that you're confident in yourself and relaxed lean back a bit. But don't lean in too much or you might seem needy and desperate for some approval. Or lean back too much or you might seem arrogant and distant. 8. Smile and laugh lighten up, don't take yourself too seriously. Relax a bit, smile and laugh when someone says something funny. highly specialized functions. Jung and others have identified many psychological archetypes, such as the Puer Aeternus or eternal boy, who can be found in myths as the ever-youthful Cupid, in stories as characters such as Peter Pan, and in life as men who never want to grow up. Particular genres of modern stories have their specialized character types, such as the " W h o r e with the Heart of Gold" or the "Arrogant West Point Lieutenant" in Westerns, the "Good C o p / B a d C o p " pairing in buddy pictures, or the "Tough but Fair Sergeant" in war movies. 26 THE ARCHETYPES However, these are only variants and refinements of the archetypes discussed in the following chapters. demographic. But I lack-" "I agree." Cross stood and buttoned his jacket. "You have a direction, Mr. Garrity. We'll revisit next week." I sat for a moment, stunned by the breakneck pace of events. Then I looked at Mark, who seemed to be wavering between astonished joy and bewilderment. Rising to my feet, I led the way to the door. I was hyperaware of Cross walking beside me. The way he moved, with animal grace and arrogant economy, was a major turn-on. you were so irresistible. I convinced myself it was weak to run away. I'd dealt with temptation before, not of this magnitude, not even close, but I was strong. Who were you, an insignificant little girl" -- he grinned suddenly -- "to chase me from the place I wanted to be? So I came back..." He stared off into space. I couldn't speak. "I took precautions, hunting, feeding more than usual before seeing you again. I was sure that I was strong enough to treat you like any other human. I was arrogant about it. "It was unquestionably a complication that I couldn't simply read your thoughts to know what your reaction was to me. " This information made Elizabeth smile, as she thought of poor Miss Bingley. Vain indeed must be all her attentions, vain and useless her affection for his sister and her praise of himself, if he were already self-destined for another. "Mr. Collins," said she, "speaks highly both of Lady Catherine and her daughter; but from some particulars that he has related of her ladyship, I suspect his gratitude misleads him, and that in spite of her being his patroness, she is an arrogant, conceited woman." "I believe her to be both in a great degree," replied Wickham; "I have not seen her for many years, but I very well remember that I never liked her, and that her manners were dictatorial and insolent.
