Tallinn University TURKEY AND THE EUROPEAN UNION Tallinn 2013 INTRODUCTION The accession negotiations and the forthcoming Turkish accession present challenges to both Turkey and the EU. It is widely accepted that Turkey's accession would be different from previous enlargements because of the combined impact of Turkey's population, size, geographical location, economic, security and military potential. The case of Turkey will be different and more challenging from previous accessions for a number of reasons, some of them are presented below. Turkey is a country with a large population and geographic area. With a population of
burning of oil shale by power plants in the northeast part of the country and airborne pollutants from industrial centers in Poland and Germany poses a significant hazard to Estonia's air quality. Estonia's water resources have been affected by agricultural and industrial pollutants, including petroleum products, which have also contaminated the nation's soil. Some rivers and lakes within the country have been found to contain toxic sediments in excess of 10 times the accepted level for safety. The nation's land pollution problems are aggravated by the 15 million tons of pollutants that are added yearly to the existing 250 million tons of pollutants. In 1994, 24,000 acres of the country's total land area were affected. Radiation levels from the nuclear accident at Chernobyl exceed currently accepted safety levels. To sum up, environmental problems should be handled by local and international authorities also. Every single person should take care of
Bella agrees, grateful for the freedoms this will give her to both spend time with Edward, and attempt to visit Jacob. Her freedom doesn't include a visit to the nearby city of Seattle Washington, which is currently the setting for a rash of serial killings that are Edward claims are the work of a vampire. After Edward arrives for his typical evening visit the two spend time filling out college applications and revealing, much to Charlie's dismay, that both have been accepted to Alaska University. While pondering the wildlife populations of both Alaska and Antarctica, Bella gently broaches the subject of a visit to La Push. A visit which Edward adamantly opposes. The two are left at yet another impasse as Bella is resigned to see her best friend and Edward has vowed to stop her. The school’s headmaster was Mr. Brocklehurst, a cruel, hypocritical, and abusive man, who treated the students really bad. In school Jane found a friend named Helen Burns who was also at same age as Jane. In the winter Helen got sic and died. The epidemic also resulted in the departure of Mr. Brocklehurst by attracting attention to the insalubrious conditions at Lowood. Jane spent eight more years at Lowood, six as a student and two as a teacher. After teaching for two years, Jane accepted to be a governess at a manor called Thornfield, where she thought a French girl named Adele. Surrounding ideology tells us what is beautiful, wrong, good and so on. So when childs parents are gays, maybe it can effect child too and make him gay. In my opinion gays are good average people, but I don't support their marriages and child adopting, because gay men spread AIDS. If they would be normal people in our society and everyone would accept them, then spreading AIDS can increase. However women can be homosexual by not spreading the AIDS, but if women would be accepted as lesbians, then homosexual men would demand their rights too.
What Makes a Good Teacher As everybody knows, being a teacher requires different qualities that many people do not have. It is commonly accepted that teaching is often extremely difficult and stressful because pupils can sometimes give the tutor a hard time. Only the tough ones survive. I reckon it all comes down to the circumstance whether the teacher loves her job or does she do it just for the salary. If she only does it for money, the children will not take her seriously. She should also have a vast knowledge of her subject. Otherwise, it is really difficult for the attentive and eager pupils to get answers to their questions
because they were poorly equipped and poorly trained. One spring morning an Indian came and introduced him in a friendly way. The Indian chief offered assistance to the pilgrims and the Indians thought the Pilgrims how to hunt, fish, and grow food. Because of this help they had a good harvest every year. Governor William Bradford invited the Pilgrims and the Indians to share a Thanksgiving feast to strengthen the bond between them. They accepted. The celebration lasted 3 days. The holiday was a great success. Later, Thanksgiving was celebrated in all the colonies of New England. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it a national thanksgiving. The modern Thanksgiving turkey is much like the ones hunted in Plymouth. Squash, corn, pumpkin pie and Indian pudding appear on the Thanksgiving table. Today Thanksgiving lasts for 4 days. It's a family day and also a day of hospitality and giving.
C. S. Lewis and known to his friends and family as "Jack", was a novelist, academic and Christian apologist from Belfast, Ireland. He is known for his fictional work, especially The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Space Trilogy. Clive Staples Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland, on 29 November 1898. At the age of four, shortly after his dog Jacksie was killed by a car, he announced that his name was now Jacksie. At first he would answer to no other name, but later accepted Jack, the name by which he was known to friends and family for the rest of his life. Lewis loved to read, and as his father's house was filled with books. Lewis was schooled by private tutors before being sent to the Wynyard School in Watford, Hertfordshire, in 1908, just after his mother's death from cancer. In 1956 he married the American writer Joy Gresham, 17 years his junior, who died four years later of cancer at the age of 45. Lewis died three years after his wife, as the result

rules and bans. People are allowed to do anything they want, but they still have to somehow obey to the ruler of the Hell s. However in Heaven the ruler has been and will be God. There you must obey and honor the God anyway. If you have lived your life like God would have wanted you to live and you already are in heaven then it is better to serve in heaven. You have lived for God. You have sacrificed and done everything for being accepted there. If you really believe that Heaven is the place where you want to be then you must follow the right lifestyle, because you do not want to be in a place where you are not wanted. However there are people who go to hell for spiteful sins. Some people don't even care what effect their action has on somebody else. Those people can't even rule in Hell, they must serve there. Yet, people who just do what is best for them and for their natives are good enough to rule in Hell.
Science reigns people Biochemist Isaac Asimov has once said: “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”. The more one thinks about his words, the more they have to be accepted. It is true that science affects people, but the most influential is the part that directly concerns them and their lives. That is why this essay will take a closer look at some of the pros and cons of medical development. I will begin with the positive aspects of medical evolution. Firstly, thanks to advanced medicine, doctors are able to detect diseases at an early stage, or even before they arise, which gives people a longer life

Meg's Biography Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse-at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flunked freshman Algebra twice, then decided to cut her own bangs. After six years as an undergrad at Indiana University (a college to which she was only accepted because her father taught there), Meg moved to New York City (in the middle of a sanitation worker strike) to pursue a career as an illustrator, at which she failed miserably, forcing her to turn to her favorite hobbywriting novelsfor emotional succor. She worked various jobs to pay the rent, including a decade-long stint as the assistant manager of a 700 bed freshmen dormitory at NYU, a position she still occasionally misses.
I think that every one of us should pay respect to other people. I find it interesting to learn about other cultures and how they live. Estonia is a culturally diverse society. It is home to approximately 1,4 million people and not all of them are Estonians. Beside us consider Estonia as their home: Russians, Ukranians, Belorussian, Jews, Tatars, Germans and Poles - among of many others. They all have chosen to live here and they want to be taken as a part of our nationality. They want to be accepted and esposed. I can't understand people who can't be tolerate. I think it would be absolutely dreadful if all the people were just the same. We wouldn't have anything to learn or we couldn't widen our world-view. We would be monolingual and look all the same. We would just be one dreary crowd. Our heritage makes us all special and unique and we all should accept that. I understand that every human being has it's own beliefs and preferences, but it doesn't mean that we have to put off others.
Eventually the Earth will become uninhabitable. People cannot change the past but their actions affect the future. One of the ways how people are affecting the lives of future generations is increasing pollution. Clean air and water are the most valuable resources, but they are getting more and more polluted. For example the air in China is so polluted that people need to wear masks. The pollution of water kills hundreds of thousands of water animals and birds. Some of the big companies have accepted the problem and are taking action. For example McDonald`s and Burger King are not using plastic straws anymore. Second thing that affects the life on Earth is overpopulation. The estimated population in 2050 is near 10 billion. Population growth also raises overconsumption. People are encouraged to consume by companies and their commercials. The problem is that humans are consuming more than the Earth can regenerate. The exhaustible resources are running out. And with the
Their research has produced evidence of why past climatic changes took place. There have been many climate fluctuations over the 10,000 years since Britain was last covered with an ice sheet. Advances and retreats of ice in the northern hemisphere during the past 500,000 years can be accounted for by changes in the warmth from the Sun. This was caused by alterations in the Earth's orbit at periods of 96,000, 40,000 and 20,000 years. Although that theory is widely accepted as a possible explanation for ice ages, it has not been proved. More than 50 theories have been put forward, but only a few have not been completely dismissed. Not long ago a new theory was published in the science journal "Nature". According to Dr. Garry Hunt, of University College, intense radiations from the nuclear explosion of a nearby supernova a star could cause the destruction of part or all of the ozone layer and in this way trigger an ice age.

Therefore it's not surprising that the rivers and beaches of Europe have become cleaner, the mashines pollute less and there have been established strict rules on waste treatment. be able to keep up their farms. It helps them to get food more easily and share the property they inherited from their parents. I think that in about hundred years or so there will be no more polygamous families.I believe people are too jealous to share their loved ones. Although people in the all countries are getting more and more accepting towards different lifestyles and customs. People have fought and sacrificed their lives so this type of lifestyle would be accepted. If people have gave their lives for this then it must have meant something important to them. In conclusion I support people in polygamous marriages who are not forced to be in it in any way and who are educated enough to explain their opinion.
She is having a difficult time adjusting to her surroundings, wishing she were blonde and carefree like her 14-year-old neighbor, Anita (Brewster). Meena idolizes Anita for her looks and free spirit, and in many ways wants to be very much like her, but the reality of her life keeps putting Meena back in her place, a place she desperately seeks a way out of. As the book progresses, Meena seems to fit in quite well with the other children and the family are certainly accepted, admired even, by the community. This all begins to fall apart though as ignorance and racism clash as Meena encounters first hand how hurtful racism and ignorance can be and she struggles to understand the relationships between people and their ideas. For instance, Anita starts to go out with Sam after her mother left the family. The boy is the head of the motocycle gang and despises coloured people. There had been even rumours about him and the boys that they beat an Indian guy to death
Gay rights According to an opinion widely held, homosexuality is said to be freer today than ever before. It is present and visible everywhere: in the street, in the newspapers, on television, at the movies. It is even supposedly completely accepted, judging by the recent legislative advances made in many countries for the recognition of same sex couples. Certainly, some work remains necessary in order to eradicate the last vestiges of discrimination. But with changing public opinion, it will only be, according to some people, a matter of time, the time needed for a movement begun many decades earlier to achieve its goals. To tell the truth, the 20th century has undoubtedly been the most violently homophobic
second on this scenario... A black exchange student from Kenya comes to our school and you see him getting beaten up by a bunch of bullies without no apparent reason, what would you do? More then a few of us pretend as if they had not seen anything. I myself would feel awful, but I wouldn't know what to do either. Although I would condone myself with the idea, that life is difficult and it's just something you have to deal with. But does tolerance mean that all manners should be accepted? No, of course not. Manners that disrespect or hurt others, like being mean or bullying, or manners that break social rules, like lying or stealing, should not be tolerated. Tolerance is about accepting people for who they are -- not about accepting bad behavior. Tolerance also means treating others the way you would like to be treated. Nobody wants to be mocked or even be a victim of physical violence. In reality, we have no idea how much pain our small insignificant words can cause

Billy Elliot is an amazing boy and an example for all of us. He's just like: 'I'm gonna
*Table manners are same as in Europe. *The person making the invitation generally pays the bill in restaurants. However, it is usual for friends to split the bill. *If you are invited out for a drink, don’t recall the subject of business unless your counterpart does so. *In a pub, each person is expected to pay for a round of drinks. Avoiding your turn to pay will only create a bad impression of you. Body language * Strong eye-contact is essential - it demonstrates involvement. *The accepted distance between people at meetings is an arm's length. *The "thumbs up" gesture is also a vulgar one. So be careful when you want to express joy or victory

Christianity: the partnership of Church and state Christianity certainly reached Britain before 4th century but no one knows the exact time. The Christianity was well spread in the Celtic areas. In 597 the pope send a monk called Augustine to Canterbury the capital of the king of Kent. He managed to make many ruling families to accept Christianity but he wasn't successful in spreading it among ordinary people. However the Celtic church was successful at it and Celtic bishops were also accepted in the Anglo Saxon areas. The Anglo Saxon church was more interested in power and authority but the Celtic church was only interested in the hearts of ordinary people. That lead to a crisis which made the Celtic church to retreat. The Saxon church gave the kings more power and the Kings helped the church to grow. The church also established monasteries which trained men who could read and write. That led to making laws and writing down important matters.

university in the world. The first one is the University of Bologna in Italy. But as for English speaking countries Oxford is a firm leader. There are evidence of teaching going far back to the 11th century, but a clear date is not known. In 1167, Henry II banned English students from studying in France which made Oxford's popularity grow rapidly. From then on, Oxford was named a real university and got it's first chancellor in 1201. For years, Oxford only accepted male students until four womens' colleges were opened thanks to the Association for Promoting the Higher Education of Women. First of them was Lady Margaret Hall, which was opened in 1878. Women have been able to be full members of the university and to take degrees since 7 October 1920, almost 900 years after the University was established. Nowadays, Oxford has built itself up to be one of the biggest universities in Europe. It has a
driftwood, pebbles, rocks and shells, which he would use to provide inspiration for organic forms. For his largest works, he often produced a half-scale, working model before scaling up for the final moulding and casting at a bronze foundry. Moore often refined the final full plaster shape and added surface marks before casting. Moore produced at least three significant examples of architectural sculpture during his career. In 1928, despite his own self-described "extreme reservations", he accepted his first public commission for West Wind for the London Underground Building at 55 Broadway in London, joining the company of Jacob Epstein and Eric Gill. In 1952, he completed a four- part concrete screen for the Time-Life Building in New Bond Street, London, and in 1955 Moore turned to his first and only work in carved brick, "Wall Relief no. 1" at the Bouwcentrum in Rotterdam. The brick relief was sculptured with 16,000 bricks by two Dutch bricklayers.

It was founded as an organization of the wealthiest merchants and shipowners. The name of the Great Guild was introduced in the late 15th century. There were close ties between the guild and the town rules: only members of the Great Guild had the right to belong to the town council and could be elected for mayor. Tallinn's small coat of arms is also the Great Guild's coat of arms. Guild was led by Alderman, with the assistance of two advisers. Guild only accepted merchants, who had a house, wife and who was local. Great Guild activity ended in 1920, when Estonia abolished guilds. The Great Guild Hall The Great Guild Hall is one of the most outstanding buildings of medieval Tallinn. In 1406, it was purchased Burgomaster Gosschalk Schotelmund's house on Pikk street. In 1410, the construction was completed. Same year the Great Guild moved into the building. The facade was designed in a style characteristic of gothic Tallinn.
meaning can cause conflict. All in all, a shared meaning can be the main basis for social order in smaller and cohesive communities, whereas in larger and more varied habitats this explanation becomes lacklustre. Norms and values For social order to emerge, not only need individuals to understand and share with each other, as foreseen by common meanings, they must also be able to agree on a wider scale. Recognized norms and accepted values serve as a basis for more productive cooperation. Hechter and Horne (Hechter and Horne, 2003) describe norms as our "external criteria for evaluation" and values as our "internal criteria for evaluation". As norms are external, there are sanctions in the society so that the can exist effectively. People obey norms because they receive social encouragement for doing so. Norms are generally beneficial to the whole
The name Jutes died out & the conquerors are generally referred to as the Anglo-Saxons. At first they spoke various dialects, but gradually the dialect of the Angles of Mercia became predominant. The Anglo-Saxon migration gave the larger part of Britain its new name, England, ,,The land of the Angles". The British Celts were slowly pushed westwards. Finally most were driven into the mountains in the far west, which the Saxons called ,,Wales". Some were driven into Cornwall, where they later accepted the rule of Saxon lords and northward to Strathclyde. Further north lived the Picts and Scots. Some Celts crossed the sea & settled in the north-west of France called Brittany after the Celtic tribes of Britons. The Celts who stayed behind became mostly slaves. Hardly anything is left of the Celtic language or culture in England, except for some names of some rivers (Thames, Avon, Severn) and two large cities London & Leeds. The new conquerors were warlike and illiterate
modern medicines. Medieval medicinal ingredients like bat powder and snakeskin are no longer available, but you can still try the fine spiced claret, renowned already in the Middle Ages. The House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads is nearly the only preserved Renaissance building in Tallinn. The Brotherhood of Blackheads emerged in 1399. The Brotherhood united the young, single merchants before they could be accepted into the Great Guild, as well as foreign merchants who were residing in Tallinn for longer periods but not permanently. The name of the Brotherhood is associated with their patron, the black St. Mauritius, an early Christian martyr who died in Switzerland around 280300 A.D. His head is the mascot on the Brotherhood's coat of arms. The Brotherhood was active only in Estonia and Latvia, unknown in the rest of Europe. Members of the Brotherhood left Tallinn in the 1940s.

pyramids in the Giza Necropolis and is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that survives mostly intact. Originally the Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface, and what is seen today is the underlying core structure. Some of the casing stones that once covered the structure can still be seen around the base. There have been different scientific and alternative theories regarding the Great Pyramid's construction techniques. Most accepted construction theories are based on the idea that it was built by moving huge stones from a quarry and dragging and lifting them into place. There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest chamber is cut into the bedrock upon which the pyramid was built and was unfinished. The so-called Queen's Chamber and King's Chamber are higher up within the pyramid structure. Building of the Great pyramid of Giza
