ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1. Pollution: Pollution of air, water and soil require millions of years to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle exhaust are the number one pollutants. Heavy metals, nitrates and plastic are toxins responsible for pollution. While water pollution is caused by oil spill, acid rain, urban runoff; air pollution is caused by various gases and toxins released by industries and factories and burning of fossil fuels; soil pollution is majorly caused by industrial waste that deprives soil from essential nutrients. FIND OUT 5 WAYS HOW TO STOP POLLUTION. 2. Global Warming: Climate changes like global warming is the result of human practices like emission of Greenhouse gases

2. Põhjendada nende arvamust. 3. Anda oma isiklik arvamus. 4. Toetama oma arvamust põhjenduste ja näidetega. 5. Monoloog peab lõppema lühikese kokkuvõttega Example Some people say that plastic products should be banned. Why do you think they say that? Do you agree? Give reasons. Sa peaksid alustama oma monoloogi antud väite kordamisega: Some people say that plastic products should be banned. Seejärel pead ütlema, MIKS sa niimoodi arvad. I think they say so because plastic is a wonderfully strong, long-lasting material which is very difficult to destroy. Most plastic does not decay because bacteria will not eat it and so it stays the same for hundreds of

How to Stop Water Pollution

Get businesses involved as sponsors who will donate prizes to the person who collects the most trash if you're having a hard time finding people to sign up to help. Once you get the ball rolling, you might be surprised at just how many people are willing to step up to help you clean up your local waterways. You Can Make a Difference While water pollution solutions may seem like too little, too late when viewed in the light of major oil spills and floating plastic bag islands they are necessary to prevent these problems from growing worse. Simply slowing down the rate of pollution can give the environment and scientists time to find long-term solutions to the very real problems of water pollution. If you do your part to prevent pollution in your area, then you'll be helping to protect water for both yourself and everything else that relies upon this precious resource.

Energy - põhjalik referaat energiast

2.5 Industrial and Manufacturing Energy Use The United States is highly industrialized. Industry accounts for about one-third of the energy used in the country. There are many different uses and a variety of different energy sources in the manufacturing sector. One main use is as boiler fuel, which means producing heat that is transferred to the boiler vessel to generate steam or hot water. Another use is as process heating, which is when energy is used directly to raise the temperature of products in the manufacturing process; examples are separating components of crude oil in petroleum refining, drying paint in automobile manufacturing, and cooking packaged foods. Picture 2.8. Major end uses of some common energy sources In the manufacturing sector, the predominant energy sources are natural gas and electricity (a secondary source). Manufacturers also use other energy sources for heat, power, and electricity generation

HOUSE AND HOME tööleht

It is the perfect traditional symbol of warmth because it is what most people used in the past to keep warm. In a house with two floors, the rooms upstairs are the ones used as bedrooms. The toilet (often separate) and bathroom are also usually upstairs. The living room and kitchen are downstairs. The latter is usually small, but those who have more space, often afford

Clay Bricks

Ceramic or fired bricks were first introduced by the Romans. These were mainly flat, broad thin sections, not unlike a tile, which is probably why they `burnt' so well, causing them to last for centuries. In Estonia the fired clay bricks came in to use in 13 century. The greatest buildings from that time are the St John's Church and the Tartu Cathedral. (Jaani kirik ja Toomkirik) Moving on, What is clay? (slide 4) Clay is fine-grained, firm earthy material that is plastic when wet and hardens when heated. Clay minerals are size of (point zero one mm)0,01mm. It is consisting primarily of hydrated silicates of aluminum and widely used in making bricks, tiles, and pottery. Clay minerals are typically formed over long periods of time by the gradual chemical weathering of rocks, by low concentrations of carbonic acid and other solvents. These solvents, usually acidic, migrate through the weathering rock after leaching through upper weathered layers
