Before telling this story, fold a piece of white construction paper .  Enlarge the pattern below to fir the paper and then lightly trace the pattern on the paper.  Hold the paper with the pattern toward you and cut from the points as indicated in the story.

Once upon a not so long time ago, there was a little hill . (cut from 1 to 2) On top of this hill was a little hut. (cut from 2 to 3 to 4) And in this little hut was a little old man who lived there all alone .
One December night , the little old man saw a shooting star in the sky. (cut from 4 to 5 to 6) “Oh, how wonderful it would be to have a star for company,” said the little old man. “I will catch one!"
The next morning the little old man climbed the mountain nearby. (cut from 6 to 7) He waited at the top until the sun went down, the moon came up and the stars appeared in the sky. Then he reached up and up and up, but he couldn’t catch a star. "Oh, how wonderful it would be to have a star for company,” said the little old man. He fell asleep feeling rather sad.
The next morning the little old man noticed that there was a taller mountain beside the one he was on. He climbed down into the valley and up the next mountain. (cut from 7 to 8 to 9) He waited at the top until the sun went down, the moon came up and the stars appeared in the sky. Then he stood on tiptoe and reached up and up and up, but he couldn’t catch a star. "Oh, how wonderful it would be to have a star for company,” said the little old man. He again fell asleep feeling rather sad.
Butthe next morning the little old man noticed that there was a still taller mountain beside the one he was on. He climbed down into the valley and up the next mountain. (cut from 9 to 10 to 11) He again waited at the top until the sun went down, the moon came up and the stars appeared in the sky. Then he jumped high and reached up and up and up, but he couldn’t catch a star. The little old man hung his head. “I guess I’ll never have a star to keep me company,” he said sadly. But then as he looked down, he saw something in the valley below.  It was a star!"I think I can get that star," said the little old man and he fell asleep dreaming of how wonderful it would be to have a star for company.
The next morning the little old man climbed down the mountain. (cut from 11 to 12) He waited until the sun went down, the moon came up and the stars appeared in the sky.  But this time he didn't look up. Instead he looked straight ahead. And he saw the star! He walked down a path. (cut from 12 to 13) He came to a small house (cut from 13 to 14 to 15) and inside the window of the house he saw a star. The little old man knocked on the door . “How lucky you are to have a star to keep you company!” he said to the woman who opened the door. The woman invited the little old man inside to meet her family and to drink a cup of Christmas cider. The little old man shared the company of the family and the star for many hours.
And would you like to see where the star was? ( open paper) It was on top of the family’s Christmas tree!

A lamb to the slaughter

Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl (1916-1990) The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight - hers and the one by the empty chair opposite. On the sideboard behind her, two tall glasses, soda water, whiskey. Fresh ice cubes in the Thermos bucket. Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come him (correction: home) from work. Now and again she would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come. There was a slow smiling air about her, and about everything she did. The drop of a head as she bent over her sewing was curiously tranquil. Her skin - for this was her sixth month with child - had acquired a wonderful translucent quality, the mouth was soft, and the eyes, with their new placid look, seemed larger darker than before. When the clock said ten minutes to five, she began to listen, and a few moments later, punctually as always, she hear

Kordamine inglise keele eksamiks A 1.1 Read the text and answer the questions below. Dear Mary-Alice, It's been ages since I last wrote to you, isn't it weird? Yes, so it is, but, I do have a certain reason. Do you remember Sir Thom of the Minquettes'? That fine young man with fascinating blue eyes... Oh, my sweet Mary, you will never guess what happened yesterday! It was about seven o'clock in the evening when Lillian called me out for a walk you know I can't say `no' to my little sis. Anyway we went to the forest near the Swan Lake and, believe it or not, got lost! Awful! I was so scared... We walked and walked, not even knowing the direction we were heading to, until we reached a huge mansion. And the garden around it was so extraordinary... That is something you just must see! But neither the trees nor flowers could be as wonderful as the owner himself! Sir Thom treated us tea and sandwiches, not forgetting to show us way back to the village. He was so kind, don't you think?

Oliver twist - kokkuvõte

Chapter1: An unknown woman was found lying in the street and brought into the workhouse. She delivered a sickly child who had trouble breathing. The woman, without a word of who she was, died and left her new born boy, Oliver, to the drunken nurse that stood by. Chapter2: The State gave Oliver to Mrs. Mann who housed a number of orphaned children. Mrs. Mann took a large portion of the money given to her by the authorities for each child's food so Oliver grew up small and malnourished. On his ninth birthday, the town beadle, Mr. Bumble, came to collect Oliver and take him to the board for an interview. They told him he was to live with other wards of the state to become educated and learn a trade. Oliver did not mind this, but soon after he arrived, the state decided to implement a plan that would save money by feeding the people very little. After a time on this diet, the boys at the table chose Oliver to go ask the head cook for more gruel. Oliver did this, and was taken away. A flye

Sylvia Day Bared to You Sylvia Day Bared to You The first book in the Crossfire series, 2012 This one is for Dr. David Allen Goodwin. My love and gratitude are boundless. Thank you, Dave. You saved my life. Acknowledgments My deepest gratitude to my editor, Hilary Sares, who really dug into this story and made me work for it. Basically, she kicked my ass. By not pulling her punches or letting me shortchange the details, she made me work harder and because of that, this story is a much, much better book. BARED TO YOU wouldn't be what it is without you, Hilary. Thank you so much! To Martha Trachtenberg, copy editor extraordinaire. This book is an important one for me and she treated it that way. The New Beginning II

The New Beginning II Morning came yet there was no happiness on the surface. The young man had no idea what to do next after all, he was one of the Royal Soldiers, not a babysitter. The child on his arms seemed so helpless...so innocent... And then he decided something that a few hours ago he`d never do: he will keep the child and raise it to be a worthy worrior who`d once destroy all of the ishues and free this country from the Demons. And so, the baby still asleep, he left the ruins of what was called a city once and moved towards east, where the Royal Palace was situated. By midday he finally reached the White Wall, where was a secret entrance to the Palace`s main hall. The gate keepers waved sleepily when he passed them. The young man decided not to disturb them so he went on in total silence. Soon he reached the main hall, but his leader, captain Jacques, wasn't there as he had expected. "Well, now that is quite problematic..."he claime

Christmas in different countrys(jõulud erinevates maades)

Christmas in Australia Christmas in Australia is often very hot. Whereas the northern hemisphere is in the middle of winter, Australians are baking in summer heat. It is not unusual to have Christmas Day well into the mid 30 degrees Celsius, or near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A traditional meal includes a turkey dinner, with ham, and pork. A flaming Christmas plum pudding is added for dessert. In the Australian gold rushes, Christmas puddings often contained a gold nugget. Today a small favor is baked inside. Whoever finds this knows s/he will enjoy good luck. Another treat is Mince Pies. Some Australians and particularly tourists often have their Christmas dinner at midday on a local beach, Bondi Beach in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs attracts thousands of people on Christmas Day. Other families enjoy their day by having a picnic. If they are at home, the day is punctuated by swimming in a pool, playing Cricket out the backyard, and other outdoor activities.
