Conqueror” and the date is remembered as the last time that England was successfully invaded. There was no such thing as a Norman area of settlement. Instead, the Norman soldiers who had invaded were given the ownership of land and of the people living on it. A strict feudal system was imposed. 12. Magna Carta. In 1215 King John was forced to sign the document, drawn up by the noblemen of England. It limited his power and extended the rights of his subjects. The Magna Carta is a well-known charter of personal and political liberty. Later, especially in the 17th century, the document was seen as a statement of basic civil rights. Four copies have survived. 13. The Wars of the Roses. During the 15th century, the power of the greatest nobles, who had their own private armies, meant that constant challenges to the position of the monarch were possible.

Roman Britain

Romans built many roads and also many great bulidings like the Hadrians wall. Anglo-Saxons and Normans The history of Anglo-Saxon England broadly covers early medieval England from the end of Roman rule and the establishment of Anglo-Saxon kingdoms in the 5th century until the Conquest by the Normans in 1066. Christianisation of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms began around 600 and was essentially complete by the mid 8th century. Throughout the 7th and 8th centuries, power fluctuated between the larger kingdoms. Bede records Aethelbert of Kent as being dominant at the close of the 6th century, but power seems to have shifted northwards to the kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria. Aethelbert and some of the later kings of the other kingdoms were recognised by their fellow kings as Bretwalda. The so-called 'Mercian Supremacy' dominated the 8th century, though again it was not constant. Aethelbald and Offa, the two most powerful kings, achieved high status

Market and marketing

 The act of buying and selling of goods (to satisfy human wants)  An area of operation of commercial demand for commodities In addition, I have to define what is marketing. Marketing is a human activity to satisfy needs and wants, through an exchange process. A demand is a want for which consumer is prepared to pay a price. A want is anything or service the consumer desires or seek. Wants become demand when backed by purchasing power. Marketing is the creation and the delivery of a standards of living, it is finding out what customers want, then planning and developing a product or service that will satisfy those wants and then determining the best way to price, promote and distribute that product or service. The purpose of business is to create a customer by which stress is laid on to aspects: 1) identification of consumer needs and 2) organizing the business to meet these needs.

Two clans, in particular, were in a constant struggle for power. Researchers believe that Bora Bora held the military power over all of the Leeward Islands. In the 1700's, Chief Puni ruled the island as well as clans on other islands including Tahaa, Raiatea, and Maupiti. European explorer, James Cook, landed on Tahaa and Raiatea in 1769 and on Bora Bora in 1770. Approximately 50 years later, the London Missionary Society began introducing Christianity on the island. ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM

It is caused by airborne acidic pollutants and has highly destructive results. Scientists first discovered acid rain in 1852, when the English chemist Robert Agnus invented the term. From then until now, acid rain has been an issue of intense debate among scientists and policy makers. Acid rain, one of the most important environmental problems of all, cannot be seen. The invisible gases that cause acid rain usually come from automobiles or coal-burning power plants. Acid rain moves easily, affecting locations far beyond those that let out the pollution. As a result, this global pollution issue causes great debates between countries that fight over polluting each other's environments. For years, science studied the true causes of acid rain. Some scientists concluded that human production was primarily responsible, while others cited natural causes as well. Recently, more intensive research has been done so that countries have

Global warming and natural disasters

Global warming and natural disasters The aim of this report is to talk about global warming and natural disasters. The disasters are getting more serious and they are mostly caused by global warming which people can affect. What should be done to make the situation better? Nowadays people have put material things above the beauty and survival of the Earth. Money and power are more important than, for example, the wonder of cool, fresh and clean spring water. The water has been polluted and the trees cut down, also the air is polluted with gasses. All of these things are dangerous for animals as they live in the forests. People do not care about the nature and they are not aware of the risks. Although these figures are depressing, things have improved recently. Scientists are aware

values of Christian Europe. What is more, it stands in the way of society progressing morally. With this sort of punishment county sets itself at the same level as the criminal and this may increase aggressiveness and lover the value of human life. People who support capital punishment have as good arguments as those who are against it. Capital punishment helps to preserve people's belief in justice and the power of law. It also may help preventing wild justice. For this kind of punishment is the fact that public opinion has always supported it. It would be cynical to decide whether a person dies or lives based on financial consideration. If a person makes a crime, which is very well thought of and premeditated (as for homicide) capital punishment, in financial point of view, would certainly be cheaper, than his lifelong deportment on taxpayer collect.

Often the reusable product is also less affordable to the consumer which ends up taking a toll at the environment due to the lack of financial security in the economical state the world id in at the moment. In conclusion, even the smallest decision affects our world end can lead up to a huge difference in our environment. Everybody is responsible for taking care of our planet but the most power in these matters has the government who can control pollution by making laws to improve the legislation concerning environmental issues.

and pressure rise in the tank which allowed the toxic gas to escape from the emergency pipes. The gas was not neutralized, as the three fundamental emergency systems failed to work. The gas killed up to 10, 000 people in 3 days and approximately 35, 000 by 1994. The gas affected soil and water to the point that agriculture in Bhopal is unusable. In conclusion this demonstrates the need for consistent mainteance in pesticide plants, power plants and all ohter industrial plants. Corporations can not save money in the expense of safety, because there is always an intensive risk. William Turner

He is commonly known as "the painter of light". Painting: The subject of the painting is the practice of 18th century slave traders who would throw the dead and dying human 'cargo' overboard during the middle passage in the Atlantic Ocean. Turner was inspired by two sources: by the Zong Massacre of slaves and by lines from James Thomson's The Seasons (The Zong Massacre was the name given to the mass-killing of African slaves that took place in 1781 on the Zong). The violent power of the sea and the strange sea creatures represent the forces of nature punishing the guilty. The painting was widely admired for its use of colour and the way in which sea and sky merge around the distant ship. In the lower portion of the painting, hands of enslaved Africans can be seen still shackled(aheldatud). Turner makes a particularly effective contrast between distant and near views in The Slave Ship. The painting is currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, USA.

INGLISKEELNE TRANSMISSIONI TÖÖPÕHIMÕTE

TRANSMISSION 1. A transmission or gearbox provides speed and torque conversions from a rotating power source to another device using gear ratios. The most common use is in motor vehicles, where the transmission adapts the output of the internal combustion engine to the drive wheels. Such engines need to operate at a relatively high rotational speed, which is inappropriate for starting, stopping, and slower travel. The transmission reduces the higher engine speed to the slower wheel speed, increasing torque in the process.

Even public figures have a right to privacy

private life + The journalists publish news and pictures, which have a negative impact on the public official's reputation (exaggerations, misrepresentation of facts) Those against increased privacy for public figures, opponents of more privacy - Public figures should expect people to be interested in their private lives - Privacy is often indistinguishable from publicity when a person uses his or her personal life and private matters to attract attention and seek for influence and power (making money from the news and pictures reported and taken by tabloids and paparazzi) Conclusion: To conclude, the public figures have always had less privacy than the average citizens, but , all in all, the public officials definitely have the right to keep the details of their private life undisclosed. To my mind, people are less interested in public figures' personal lives than the media claims them to be.

Enamus tänapäeva toiteplokke on ATX (Advanced Technology eXtended) tüüpi. Both iron and steel became essential materials, used to make everything from appliances, tools and machines, to ships, buildings and infrastructure. The steam engine was also integral to industrialization. In 1712, Englishman Thomas Newcomen (1664-1729) developed the first practical steam engine (which was used primarily to pump water out of mines). By the 1770s, Scottish inventor James Watt (1736-1819) had improved on Newcomen's work, and the steam engine went on to power machinery, locomotives and ships during the Industrial Revolution. The Relations Between The USA and Iraq

In 1966 Salam Arif, the leader of the new Ba'athist government, died and his brother, Abdul Rahman Arif, not a Ba'athist, assumed the presidency. Some believe that Robert Anderson, former secretary of the treasury under President Dwight D. Eisenhower, secretly met with the Ba'ath Party and came to a negotiated agreement according to which both the oil field concessions and sulphur mined in the northern part of the country would go to United States companies if the Ba'ath again took over power. In 1968, General Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr of the Ba'ath Party was installed as the new president. The US broke relations with Iraq in 1967. After al- Bakr seized power, relations remained severed for 16 years and the US made arms sales to Iraq illegal. In June 1972 all foreign businesses including the Iraq Petroleum Company were seized and Iraq declared that oil would be used as "a political weapon in the struggle against imperialism". Saddam Hussein assumed power in a counter-coup in 1979.

When they were all scared of the beast, the survival instinct started to play a role in boys life and that was probably one of the reasons why boys turned into savages . The other cause would be the fact that there is an evil side in every person. Golding presented the conflict between good and bad as the conflict between Ralph and Jack, where first one was the representative of civilisation and order, and other one represented the desire of power and savagery. The author showed quite effectively that Kristel Sepp TIK IB 09.10.09 savagery is more fundamental to human nature than instinct of civilisation by this that eventually Jack was the one who won all the boys over to his side and made his own tribe, but Ralph was left all alone with no companions. English Parliament

What can I say about the English history at all? I think that this is the most interesting history I had to study. During this subject (British civilization), I discovered some exciting facts, occasions which took place in the British history. One of these "discoveries" was the English Parliament. I was amazed how fast it grew within the centuries, from eleventh to seventeenth centuries. The political history of British Isles over the past 800 years has been largely one of reducing the power of the monarchy and transferring authority to a London-based Parliament as the sovereign legislative body for all of Britain. This development has resulted in political, social and religious conflicts, as well as evolving governmental and constitutional institutions. The early political history of the British Isles is the story of four independent countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland), but a dominant English political and military expansionism over the century.

The Crucial Problems of the World

The Crucial Problems of the World There are many problems in the world right at this time. One of the biggest and maybe the one which people talk about the most is the waste and recycling problem. As we all know, humankind is producing more waist than we can handle, reproduce and recycle. Even in here, Estonia, people are thinking of building a nuclear power station, because fossil fuel is soon depleted. The other problem, a little bit connected to the first one, is the greenhouse effect. The light from the Sun reaches us and after that the light reflexes from the Earth's surface back to the space, but thanks to the pollution, it absorbs and reflexes back to us again, causing global warming. The third problem is the fastly growing population. There are now more than 7 milliard people in the world and the number is still getting bigger

Helping the environment

Date: 6th September Introduction The Pupose of this report is to present my findings about heping the enviroment in our school. I have carried out a survey among the students at Kose Gymnasium. My findings are presented below. Findings The first thing students thought was that our school is using and wasting paper. Theatchers do not use both sides of paper while printing. Secondly the students have noticed that the computers are not always turned off at end of the day. They take a lot of power and waste energy if they are turned on overnight. The tird thing I found out is that our school does not recycle and reuse enouhg which is also bad influence for the environment. Reccomendations Firstly, I would like to suggest to reduce paper. For example send more emails or if the printing is really nessesary use both sided of the paper. Secondly I reccomend tuning computers off at the end of the day to ignore wasting energy. Tirdly I belive we should recycle more in our school. We could

We live in a constantly changing world - essee

We live in a constantly changing world There seems to be no stability or certanity about anything. Nations rise and fall, governments come to power and tumble, armies march and retreat, healthy people become sick and on and on the world goes. On the one hand the world we are living in is amazing, because science, medicine, technology, and so on are advancing at an ever-increasing pace. It has made our lives much easier than it was 100 years ago. For example we have phones, television, fast cars, eco towns, highrise buildings and so on. But on the other hand the world can also be frightful. People are starving, and do

BARRIERS TO DISTRICT HEATING DEVELOPMENT IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

Heating in Europe: Barriers to overcome for Swedish export" , which was prepared for The Swedish District Heating Association. The losses by energy conversion in Europe are of the same magnitude as the European heat demand and consist mainly of heat that is wasted by electricity generation . District heating is a means to utilise such surplus heat to cover heat demand. District heating can utilise the heat from electricity generation in combined heat and power (CHP) plants. District heating can also use other heat sources that are difficult to use for individual buildings, such as unrefined biomass fuels, heat from waste incineration and industrial surplus heat. The latter may, for example, be a by-product from production of automotive biofuel. District heating can provide cheap energy to consumers by using low-cost energy sources, such as wood, waste and surplus heat. Many of these resources can be of local origin

Image of Brazil

Most native peoples who live and lived within Brazil's current borders are thought to descend from the first wave of migrants from North Asia (Siberia) that crossed the Bering Land Bridge at the end of the last Ice Age around 9000 BC. In 1500 AD, the territory of modern Brazil had an estimated total population of nearly 3 million Amerindians divided in 2,000 nations and tribes. Brazil is the world's tenth largest economy at market exchange rates and the ninth largest in purchasing power. Economic reforms have given the country new international projection. It is a founding member of the United Nations and the Union of South American Nations. A predominantly Roman Catholic, Portuguese-speaking, and multiethnic society, Brazil is also home to a diversity of wildlife, natural environments, and extensive natural resources in a variety of protected habitats.

Green Technologies - kokkuvõte

But still this carbon dioxide finds its way to atmosphere through our bodies. It is possible to save energy if you isolate your freezers what freezes fish. Then you can reduce your freexing temperature. Deserts would be amazing places to storage sunlight energy. But to do this, we have to forget AC, because we need DC lines. If many big countries would say, that roofs have to have solar cells, it saves a lot of energy and saves also money. In future, all new power stations have to offer carbon dioxide capture and also must pump it away.
