The mobile phone a good thing or a bad thing In reacent years mobile phone has become a most popular way of communication, but it is not perfect way. It has also advantages and disadvantages. · Firstly an advantage is that a mobile phone is easy to use. Even my grandmother who is over 70 years old has a mobile phone and she can use it. · Secondly mobile phones are comfortable to use, because you can use it when ever you want. No matter if you are in the bus or just walking in the park, you can always make a call. · Another point is that there is a big variety of mobile phones. Every person can pick just the right colour or shape that he/she wants. · Last but no least mobile phones have became quite cheap so almost every person can afford one. Mobile phones have also disadvantages. · First of all, it can be argued that email is so easy. Thats because it takes ti...
Pablo Picasso He was born in Malaga, Spain on 25 october, 1881. He showed his genius when he was very young. His first world was lapiz (Spanish for pencil) , he could draw before he talked. He was the only son in the family, so he was completely spoiled. His one great love was art.His father became an art teacher. Pablo sometimes watched father paint. Sometimes he was permitted to help. On one occasion the father found his son painting over his unfinished sketch of a pigeon. His genius as an artist was recognized by many peaople, but others were shocked by his strange and powerful paintings. As both asian and European markets use the internet more and more to conduct business, there will be an increasing need for language choice for the different markets.English is so often used on the internet that it might make you think everyone in the world speaks English, or at least give you the impression that it is the worlds most widekyspoken language. If this were true, it would, off course, bring benefits for worldwide communication and understandig, thought it could also possibly become a threat to cultural diversity.English certainly seems to be everywhere, from films to pop music and TV, and from 15 business to science and other fields. Information varies, but suggests that about 75% of the pages on the web are in english.Yet English is the mother tongue for only 5,4% of the worlds population, while a further 7% of the worlds population are proficient speakers of English. This means that only around 12% of the worlds population...
Learning foreign language - Why is it necessary? I think learning different languages are very important if you want to see world and people abroad. It makes your life easier if you can learn some larger language than Estonian. Estonian is very little language and example is quite hard to get god job if you cannot speak some world language. This is very positive that we can learn at least two foreign language in the school. Very important is than we get practice beside school lessons. Some things like watching films and listening music make us understand this language better. In the future I would like to learn french and Swedish but first I should learn to speak Russian and English correctly. If we travel, we anyway communicate with different people and it's easier to make contact than we can speak language very well. And communicating with different people make our world-view larger. If ...
Computers - indispensable part of our life Computers have become a major part of our lives today. We use them for tests, entertainment, organization, studying, etc. They are a vital essential in the world we live in. Without them the world would fall apart. It is impossible to imagine how people functioned in the old days when computers did not exist. Computers have become almost as smart as us. We use our computers daily. After a long day in school, we usually turn on our computers and use them for learning and studies. Computers provide a big variety of information which is available for us to search. And all the information is gathered in Internet. Internet is everyone's door to the world and to the vast knowledge of everything. Computers have significant advantages over people in a few select areas. They can store huge amounts of information that they will never forget, they can organize and retrieve that information ver...
February 25th, 2009 Dear Sir or Madam, I write to you to complain about the quality of Westhope catering service. I saw your advertisement in my local newspaper and booked the service for my 21 st birthday party with high hopes. Unfortunately I was terribly disappointed. Firstly, a huge variety of dishes is promised in your advertisement. To my surprise when I asked about some, I was told that many of them were not available. The second thing that was below standards was delivery. I do not believe that prompt delivery means food arriving late. When the food finally arrived, it was cold! Another problem was your staff. The waiters were simply rude to my guests! I was embarrassed especially because I had told my guests to expect a friendly service. As if all this was not enough, I was overcharged on the final bill. I would not ha...

The Status of Women in The World For a long time, through the history of human kind, women have fought for their rights. Issue of women rights and women status has always been discussed and there are many different points of view on this problem. In civilized community you are taught to respect human being as an equal to yourself. It just happens to be, that many eastern regions of men are not as happy as western nations, about the idea of leaving the wonderful life, in which they could tell a random female to strip and make them happy, for a life of begging for the thing they have been getting so easily. In europe a wife in a household is irreplaceable. No man is capable of raising children, cleaning, cooking, ironing and making money at the same time, thus men and women have divided their duties. Usually couple living together also provides eachother with support and comfort, wh...

Mikk Hödemann 12.d klass English Parliament What can I say about the English history at all? I think that this is the most interesting history I had to study. During this subject (British civilization), I discovered some exciting facts, occasions which took place in the British history. One of these "discoveries" was the English Parliament. I was amazed how fast it grew within the centuries, from eleventh to seventeenth centuries. The political history of British Isles over the past 800 years has been largely one of reducing the power of the monarchy and transferring authority to a London-based Parliament as the sovereign legislative body for all of Britain. This development has resulted in political, social and religious conflicts, as well as evolving governmental and constitutional institutions. The early political history of the British Isles is the story of four independent cou...

Kuressaare Castle The convent building of Kuressaare castle is the only medieval fortification in the Baltic States that has not undergone considerable alterations and due to that is an internationally important architectural monument. This castle is built of limestone. The roof is made of red stone. The construction of the stronghold was closely connected with the Estonians fight against the German feudals. The first documented data about Kuressaare castle originate only from 1380s. Kuressaare castle remained the residence for the bishops of Saare-Lääne Bishopric until the beginning of the Livonian War. At the end of the XIV and the beginning of the XV century the castle was surrounded by a new mighty 625 m long and 7 m high belt of walls, erected around the old belt of walls dating from the XIII century. The necessity to improve the defence of the castle was due to the invention and usage of firearms. The old parts of the walls ...

Stanislav Stõkov 12A The Amityville Horror The Amityville Horror is a fightening remake of the 1979 horror classic. The film is directed by Andrew Douglas and the story takes place in a Long Island home in the `70s. The movie begins with a gruesome sight, where the entire family was brutally slaughtered by the father. He explained to the police that the voices in side his head made him do it. One year later a family of five was looking for a new place to live. They stumbled across that same building, where the mass murder had happened. Despite the tragedy they bought it because of the low price. Georg, the father of the family, even said that houses do not kill people. The Lutzs moved eagerly in and started to live their American Dream. But strange things began to take place, which happened more and more...

Mul on väga palju hobisid, tegelikult on meie perel ja sugulastel üldse kõigil väga palju hobisid. Üle kõige armastan ma sporti, eriti jooksmist, korvpalli ja kõrgushüpet. Et vormis olla käin kergejõustiku trennis. Mulle meeldib seal väga, sest õpin seal alati midagi uut juurde. Samuti meeldib mulle tantsida ja kinos käia. Mõnikord juhtun olema ka teatris või tsirkuses. Suvel läime me perega telkimas ja ratta matkadel.
In the future i would like to have a perfect family. My perfect family would be composed by children who are healthyminded and a man who is a good father and right for our family. Also, we would have a house that we could live in comfortably. The house would be just out of town, where nature thrives and also have a beautiful view of the coast. In the house there could be living room where the children can play different games when their friends would visit us. I would prefer to have a big garden for hosting bbq and taking sunbaths in the summer. I would llike to have 2 children, and i dont mind whether they are boys or girls because the most important thing for my children is that they are healthy. I would like my children to be courteous and have lots of hobbys. The man I marry should love his family. He would never have another lover and hurt me and my children. I would also like to have a job that I enjoy. As i li...
Should a man be a househusband? Should a man be a househusband? It is a pretty popular subject nowadays. The phenomenon of strong women is more and more urgent, whereas more and more men stay at home as househusbands. This phenomenon causes many people to wonder whether this is a positive change. If this is true, can it be done without having a negative effect on the family? In my opinion, a man should earn money for his family, but taking care of the house and kids should be women's chores, because every child needs mother's care and attention. Otherwise lack of it may be seen in the future and father cannot replace mother. Furthermore, men are not going to stand still and watch it uselessly. Most of them think of themselves as the family heads and they have an obsession about being the successful ones. But behind every successful man there is a woman, and it is a boost for men's ego, because they ha...
A memory of my childhood Elizabeth Grünbaum It was snowing outside and the bright winter sun shined into the room through the curtains. I woke up early that beautiful day, because there were guests coming over. Like in any other winter morning i rushed to the window sill to see if the dwarves have left something in my christmas stocking. I remember exactly, what was in there that day, it was kinder surprise. I liked kinder surprises a lot, because the chocolate would melt in your mouth and there was a surprise between the two halves of the chocolate. At 1 o'clock, the guests arrived. They were my grandparents. Guests brought pies made by grandma and a beautiful bunch of flowers since i'd just had my birthday a week before. Mother asked me to take out a vase to put the flowers in the water. So i did and i climbed on top of a chair to grab my favourite vase with blue flowers on i...

The United States is a democracy. The Constitution, laws and traditions of the United States give the people the right to determine who will be the leader of their nation, who will make the laws and what the laws will be. The Constitution also guarantees individual freedom to all. In 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered the New World. Within a few years, the more powerful nations of Europe were claiming great areas there and establishing colonies to support their claims. Most of the colonists were English, but there were also Germans in Pennsylvania, Swedes in Delaware and Dutch in New York. Some of the early British colonists had come to the New World in hopes of enriching themselves, some came because Britain forced them to leave and some because of the opportunity , which did not exist for them in Europe, to own land or practice a trade. But there were also reasons, which had great influence on the shaping of the political system of...

Eli Whitney Whitney was born in Westborough, Massachusetts, on December 8, 1765, the eldest child of Eli Whitney Sr., a prosperous farmer. At age fourteen he operated a profitable nail manufacturing operation in his father's workshop during the Revolutionary War.[2] Because his stepmother opposed his wish to attend college, Whitney worked as a farm laborer and schoolteacher to save money. He prepared for Yale at Leicester Academy (now Becker College) and under the tutelage of Rev.Elizur Goodrich of Durham, Connecticut he entered the Class of 1789. Whitney expected to study law but, finding himself short of funds, accepted an offer to go to South Carolina as a private tutor. Instead of reaching his destination, he was convinced to visit Georgia. Georgia was a magnet for New Englanders seeking their fortunes. He invented the cotton gin, which was the beginning of his success. After he f...
In britain, the newspaper industry, often called Fleet Street, has a mojar influance on public opinion and is a strong force in political life. Britain's press is unusual in that it is divided into two very different types of newspaper: the quality press and the popular press. The term quality press is used to describe papers, which follow the tradition of the journals of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The 'quality' papers are printed on large papers, have an undramatic layout and are serious in tone. They have editorials which comment on important issues and reflect the political views of the editor. They are more expensive than tabloids. Examples of the quality dailies are The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent and the Financial Times. People choose a paper that reflects their own political opinion. The popular press is mainly represented by papers founded after the launching day of the Daily Mail in 1896. T...
Advantages and disadvantages of living in a big city Living in a big city has allways had its good and bad sides. While living in a big city means that there are lots of noise and less fresh air, it is full of entertainment nearby. Firstly, living in a big city means that there are much more shops, cinemas, theatres and nightclubs. People have as much entertainment as they need or want. At the day you can go shoping and at the night the city never sleeps, people can go to the nightclubs to have fun all night long. Furthermore, living in a big city means that people have a better possibility to travel all around the world. There are many of different kinds of traveling agencys, where people can order trips allmoust all around the globe. And usually around the bigger citys the airports are nearby, which meanes that the traveling has made as easy as it can be. However, living in a big city has some disadvantages. To start with, ...

How can we reduce air pollution levels in our cities? Are our cities clean and fresh enough? Unfortunately people don't see that actually cities aren't clean enough. The Aair pollution is growing every day, but how can WE change it? Firstly, we should watch out for the garbage we produce. Many things that are thrown away can be recycled, but some of the people aren't aware of that. They throw things away which may be dangerous for nature. Another solution is to use more buses and bicycles. Every family member doesn't need his/her own car. When you move more in fresh air, you will feel better yourself, your health will be better and you will reduce air pollution levels. Finally, big-factory owners should pay attention where they build on their factories. I think that it is very important that they don't build them in the middle of cities. The pollution twhat comes from the factories is bigdrastic. In conclusion, there are man...
The advantages and disadvantages of fast food. For some people fast food is part of their everyday life. It is designed to for busy people who do not have time to cook. But how many people are aware of the advantages and disadvantages of fast food? To start with, the most important thing to know is that fast food is not healthy. How far can we go being tolerant? Tolerance- it is the willingness to accept or tolerate somebody ot something especially opinions or behaviuor that you may not agree with, or people who are not like you. When we speak about tolerance and being tolerant, then of course all of us do not have the same opinion about tolerance. There is saying that there are as many different opinions as people in the world and talking about tolerance is not different. How we tolerate other people and their behaviour depends a lot of how we are raised and educated, where we live and who we connect to When we hear word ,,tolerant" then mostly we connect it with homo sexuals, racism, religion and all kinds of different people(disabled people for example) and how we tolerate those things. Speaking of homo sexuals then for me they are same people as I am and I have nothing against them. I only would not like if homo se...

Thy choicest gifts in store On her be pleased to pour Long may she reign May she defend our laws And ever give us cause To sing with heart and voice God save the Queen 4. Not in this land alone But be God's mercies known From shore to shore Lord make the nations see That men should brothers be And form one family...
Good afternoon! My name is Maris Ploom and I'm form 10 th B. Today I'm here to talk about the advantages and the disadvantages of fast development of modern technology. I think we have all noticed that almost every day there are new technology achievements at the stores. Whether we like it or not, it improves in every second, in every minute. So, is it a blessing or a curse? I'm sure that most of you think it's a blessing. We like our comfortable lives, we like it when everything has already been done for us. We want to have the newest mobile phones and best cars to show off and be better than our friends. However, it can make people selfish and egoistic. In the past 10 years modern technology has improved so fast that it is clearly visible when we compare the technology in the years 1999 and 2009. When I was a little girl, I remember the time I got my first mobile phone. It was Nokia 3210, which was t...
Dear Sir, 12/10/08 I am writing to complain about the behaving of one of your employees. I want to inform you about that I was treated really rudely by a shop assistant at your department store the day before. I was doing my shopping at your department store yesterday after I came from work and I got into a rude conversation with your employee after I did not remember my credit card pin-code and tried to pay in cash after that. But except a pleasant smile, I got insulted and told that I should know if I do have money on my credit card or not. Concerning how pleasant the employees at your shop usually are I was very surprised by this acting. That caused me deep disapproval about your shop. The name of employee who insulted me was Michael. I expect that you will resolve my problem immediately, not just for me, but for all the people who might ge...
My Future Plans. Well, here it is. I am not a person who likes to speak about his future plans a lot. I will try to tell in the shortest way about the exact things. The 9th form finishes and I am happy and sad at the same time. I think I will miss my classmates and some of the teachers from this school but I understand that from that point starts a new period of my life. After the 9th form I am going to study further but where exactly, I can't say now. I am thinking about what to choose. In my opinion the most perfect choice for me would be studying abroad. I know it will be very useful and interesting experience for me. My dream is to visit Tallinn like a guest. But may be when I leave my town I will value it more than I did before. And could be that it is just popular today: dreaming about leaving your hometown and studying abroad. For today my plans are to study till 12th form and then enter the university. In future I will also impr...

Racism in USA The term ''racism'' is used usually to dercribe the negative feeling of one group of ''people'',the qlimax of the history of racism came in the twentyeth century. Racism has been the problem in USA for many centurys. It is a kind of discrimination where people, who are black or another race, have not been treated according to normal human rights- they were not allowed to go normal schools and be part of the community. That made them develope their own society and became hostal to white people. After the black people came out of slavery the other problems started, they were pushed away from the everyday society, they had to work harder to get jobs, education but in the other hand there was people who helped them and tried to solve those issused to make a better community. But it still has not made any big changes, there are people who even now are discriminative to black people. Kaidi Kiidemaa 10E What I value most in a friend. My friends play very big role in my life.Me and my friends get along very well.We almost never fight. It's very important, that we can trust each other. I got my first friend in playschool. Her name is Anna. We started to get along very well and we did everything together. I think people make friends because they need someone to talk to and a friend who can play with. I have a lot in common with my friend Merit. We do a lot of thing together.Like..go shopping and study together. Also we like to watch comedy movies. And in summer we always go beach together to sunbathe and swim. She is very trusty, friendly and funny. Both of us enjoy dancing. We use to visit clubs very often and party there. We also have differences, like everybody does. Merit doesn't lik...

My ideal house I like this house very much because of it's simplicity. Big windows make the house very commodious and white colours add this something-something to it. This house has a design concept to provide the one continuous wall folded in different directions setting up the various views. This is a house where I'd like to live when I'm in university. This house is quite small and is perfect for me when I don't have children. My career choi...
Amy Lynn Hartzler Amy Lynn Hartzler (known to the public by her maiden name Amy Lee), singer, pianist, designer and co-founder of the world-famous gothic rock band Evanescence, has had a big influence on the rock music scene of today. Although her family moved to many places, including Florida and Illinois, they eventually settled in Little Rock, Arkansas. It's also the place where Evanscence was founded. It was Pulaski Academy that she graduated from in 2000. "Eternity of the Remorse" and "A Single Tear" were the first songs she remembers writing. The man she founded Evanescence with was Ben Moody, whom she met at a youth camp. Within a month, the pair was playing acoustic sets at Arkansas book stores and coffee houses. After recording several EPs, it was October 22nd 2003, when Ben Moody Left the band citing "creative differences." After that incident, "Anywhere but Home" and "The Open Door" were...
The importance of the internet in our lives Nowadays there has been huge development in electronics and people are using computers more than ever before. Programmers has created a virtual environment where people can chat with each other, read newspaper and do almost everything. To start with, I do not know anyone who does not have computer or access to internet. Internet has became very popular because for low price you can send letters, chat with your friends live in msn and even have video conversations with them. Furthermore, the internet is like a world biggest library. There is a lot of information about everything. For example, if you want to know the name of Estonian president you will find it in the internet,in few minutes. In the other hand, sitting too many hours in computer is not good for your eyes. For example, more and more people are wearing classes because of watchin...
Gay rights According to an opinion widely held, homosexuality is said to be freer today than ever before. It is present and visible everywhere: in the street, in the newspapers, on television, at the movies. It is even supposedly completely accepted, judging by the recent legislative advances made in many countries for the recognition of same sex couples. Certainly, some work remains necessary in order to eradicate the last vestiges of discrimination. But with changing public opinion, it will only be, according to some people, a matter of time, the time needed for a movement begun many decades earlier to achieve its goals. To tell the truth, the 20th century has undoubtedly been the most violently homophobic period of history: deportation to concentration camps under the Nazi regime, Soviet gulags, blackmail and persecution in the United States in the McCarthy era... Obviously, all of that can seem very distant to us now. But quite oft...
Hagia Sophia Hagia Sophia is a former patriarchal basilica, later a mosque, now a museum in Istanbul, Turkey. Famous for its massive dome, it is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. It was the largest cathedral in the world for nearly a thousand years, until the completion of the Seville Cathedral in 1520. The current building was originally constructed as a church between 532 and 537 A.D. on the orders of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, and was in fact the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site. It was designed by two architects. Church contained a large collection of holy relics and featured, among other things, a 50 foot (15 m) silver iconostasis. It was the patriarchal church of the Patriarch of Constantinople and the religious focal point of the Eastern Orthodox Church for nearly 1000 years. In 1453 Sultan Mehmed II ordered the building to be converted into a mosque. The bells, altar, iconostasis, and sa...
Crime In the sociological field, crime is the breach of a rule or law for which some governing authority or force may ultimately prescribe a punishment. The word crime originates from the Latin crimen. Even in society there are always black sheep and these people are called 'criminals'. Estonia is a relatively safe country, although there are some situations, where people should be more careful crime has been increased lately. We could count different type of crimes, but most common are smuggling and robberies. Many people like something, what do not belong to them. On the one hand, news are talking about shoplifting, bank robbery and vandalism. When looking for the reasons why people commit crimes I can only say what I believe to be sure of, and it is that individuals go against laws because they choose so, as criminal behaviour is a matter of choice. People want to have somebody`s things...

Oscar Wilde "The Nightingale and the Rose" Oscar Wilde was born on 16 October in 1854, he was a successful Irish playwright, novelist, poet and author of short stories. He graduated the Magdalen College. Wilde was sentenced two years in prison that was unkind to his health, after he was released in 1897 he spent his last three years penniless. I read a Oscar Wilde`s fairy tale, it was a bit different of usual fairy tales because it didn't end happily. There was a Student, who loved one girl. This girl was a daughter of the Professor. She had said that she will dance with the Student if he would bring her a red rose. But the problem was that there weren't any red roses growing in his garden and he wept, his face buried in his hands. He was very sad because he can't dance with his love. Fortunately a small bird named Nightingale saw him crying, the bird really ...
How to keep Estonians in Estonia? In my opinion the first thing to do would be changing out politicians. I feel like the only thing they want is to make teir lives better, not the average person's. Whatever it is that they change it only drives Estonians away. I think that if everyone could get higher education for free they wouldn't have to get a student loan which they are not able to pay back after graduating. They have to get a well-paid job. But here in Estonia you can't get a great job unless you have a relative who's a top executive. Because of this many people go to a foreign country for a short time. At least that's what they say. Most of my friends and relatives who have gone abroad years ago are sure they are never coming back to live in Estonia. I'm not sure if it would help to keep Estonians in Estonia if kids would have a normal childhood but it really makes me angry that they have to be able to read at the ag...
Swearing has become a natural part of the society. It can be said that almost everybody uses swear words, particularly popular is it among youngsters and teenagers. In this paper I am going to discuss the positive and negative sides of swearing and why people swear. Firstly, people swear beacause it helps to relieve stress and blow off steam, like crying does for small children, to camouflage a person's fear or insecurity, establish a group identity, establish membership in a group and maintain the group's boundaries, express solidarity with other people or just to add humor, emphasis or "shock value" (http://people.howstuffworks.com/swearing1.htm). As can be seen, swearing has many reasons, but the first one is probably the most common. Using a swear word to emphasize something is often necessary as it shows how people really feel about things Secondly, swearing can be also quite beneficial. It can be a a useful substitute to physical...
Book Review Q and A (re-branded as Slumdog Millionaire) Q & A is a novel written by Vikas Swarup, an Indian diplomat. Published in 2005, it was the author's first novel. Set in India, it tells the story of Ram Mohammad Thomas, a poor young waiter who becomes the biggest quiz-show winner in history, only to be sent to jail on accusations (but with no evidence or proof) that he cheated. It was the basis of the 2008 feature film Slumdog Millionaire. The novel was re-published under the title Slumdog Millionaire after the success of the film. The book is divided into 14 topics (included the prologue and the epilogue). Each chapter of the book focuses on questions and answers from the quiz-show, but also a story, how Ram Mohammad Thomas knew answer for all the questions he was asked for. One of the main reasons whay I started to read this book, was the success of the movie Sl...
The invention of the car changed the world People have learned to get by as comfortably as possible. They have invented all kinds of things to make their lives easier. One man in history did a big favour to all of us. That knowledgeable man was Henry Ford who invented a machine, which was called automobile. Nowadays it is known as a car. Inventing a car made our lives easier. Nowadays people can move much faster from one place to the other and it is also more comfortable. There are very many different functions of automobiles. They are used primely for transporting things and people as well. Cars are very useful for people, but not beneficial for nature. Year after year people buy more cars instead of taking a bus. Owing to this, the air pollution has been doubled up in few years. It's not only nature that gets damaged by cars. People could also get injured and some of them may even die in car accidents. Accidents ...
CD review A CD I recently listened was A rush of blood to the head by a band called Coldplay. They are an alternative rock band formed in London, England on 16 January 1998. The group comprises vocalist/pianist/guitarist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Will Champion. Being their second album, A rush of blood to the head was released in 2002. The album has several popular singles such as "In My Place", "Clocks", and the ballad "The Scientist." It also won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2003 Grammy Awards. This is my favourite CD, because you forget everything that surrounds you while you listen to it. Chris martin has a powerful voice and the overall sound is flawless. The songs contain lush melodies and they are really relaxing. The band's music is also meditative and it reflects ...
Film review A film I have enjoyed recently is The Beach. What made me want to see it was the title first of all, and I also heard that my favourite actor Leonardo Di Caprio plays in that film. It was directed by Danny Boyle and it stars two young actors, Leonardo Di Caprio and Robert Carlyle. The film is set in Thailand. The main character is a young American man who travels to Thailand in search of the perfect vacation. During a stay in Bangkok, he meets a mysterious man who tells him about a secret beach. Richard then heads for southern Thailand in search of the island. Along the way, he meets a young French couple, Françoise and Étienne and he shares the secret of the island with them. The three then start to find the island and finally they get there. Heading further inland, they find a hidden beach where a small clan of travellers has settled. After their arri...

The invention of the car changed the world. World is used to move unstoppably. How many of us can possibly imagine our everyday life without cars in it? We´d find it to be rather difficult. Probably the fact would blow up our day schedules and most of the plans that are made. In the olden days, a car was a poduct which was ment to be only for the rich ones. To the contrary, nowadays cars are very easily available for everyone (!).Speaking of which, it´s not much to mention that one extremely wierd and sad occasion would be that some people take advantage of haveing a car and tend to take up too high speeds for showing how tough fellows they are. Often boasting like this can cause big devastations, meaning accidents and all kinds of fines, not mentioning times, when a driver might be under influence of the alcohol, which is definitely the worst possibility of all. But that´s the world we live in ...
Advantages and disadvantages of taking a gap year Many students take a gap year before going to university after graduating from high school to have a little longer holiday after being in school for twelve or more years. But, is it the best choice? What good or bad could that do? For sure one year makes a difference, it can make people lazier, but it can also give time to think about his/her future plans. There can be many reasons for a gap year: money, people go to work or some people go to the army for not taking a year for the army during studies in the university or just being tired of school. I think that a gap year is almost the only option for a young person to have a little rest, to enjoy young life, because life never becomes easier and the next chance to stretch out could be when we reach our pension time. To go on a bit longer holiday abroard with best friends is for sure expensive, but I think that ...
Body language Body language means communication with the movement or position of the human body. It can be conscious or unconscious. It is something that is noticed by everybody but is not always given enough attention. We sometimes ignore it and try to hide behind words, but we should never forget that we cannot fool everyone! Children react to body language because they experience the world through intuition. The same can be true for adults when feelings are involved. People who are in bad shape emotionally will often place great importance in it. In fact, they often pick up the smallest hint of a lapse in attention in the person they are speaking to. And they frequently jump to the conclusion that they are boring or a nuisance - thus compounding any sense of depression or poor self-esteem. A way to learn the secrets of body language is to watch television with the sound turned off and...
Introduction... I read a book abput the Galapagos islands writen by Paul D. Steward. I have devided my presentation in 3 paragraphs: Firstly i will tal about the origins of the islands and the history, secondly about life on the land and in the sea, finaly about conserving the Galapagos. The Galapagos Islands are situated on junctions between several shifting tectonic plates on the equator and about 1000 km off the Pacific coast of Ecuador. They are the product of one of the most volcanically active regions on our planet, a hot spot is situated directly beneath the islands and also It is the point where major ocean currents meet. These circumstances combine to make an area that truly is like no other place on earth. Galapagos is comprised of 13 major islands, more than 120 smaller islets and rocks, and the surrounding ocean. The total land mass is almost 8,000 sq. km. Highest peak is Wolf Volcano reaching 1707m. The present islands ar...

Charles Darwin More than a century after his death, and four generations after the publication of his chief work, "The Origin of Species", Charles Darwin may still be considered the most controversial scientist in the world. His name is synonymous with the debate that continues to swirl around the theory of evolution, a theory that deeply shook the Western view of humanity and its place in the world. We tend to speak simply of the theory of evolution, leaving off the explanatory phrase, "through natural selection." At most, perhaps, the general public has heard of "survival of the fittest" a poor phrase as far as I'm concerned, since fitness in everyday usage is associated with physical conditioning and athletic ability. "Survival of the most suited to its environment" would be a more accurate, and convincing expression for this pedicular concept. But to most of us, "evolution" simply means that human beings are descended from ...
