do nothing but sit around all day. I know for a fact that a high percentage of students are active in school and after school events and activities. There are some exceptions, who differ form those students. Finally, it is ignorant of you to say that students do not suffer from stress. School is very stressful, specially for a growing and evolving person. Stress is not just for grownups. Students have to deal with it also. In conclusion, I found your article to be inaccurate in its assessment on students life. Since magazine claims that the stories come from real life I hope that future issues will be more objective. Yours sincerely NAME

Estuary English - A Controversial Issue?

congruent but different from the journalists' ones. Rosewarne (1984) explains that the variety that he chose to call `Estuary English' is not new: "It appears to be a continuation of the long process by which London pronunciation has made itself felt. This started in the later Middle Ages when the speech of the capital started to influence the Court and from there changed the Received Pronunciation of the day." Although with a pinch of criticism, Trudgill (2001) supports this claim: "This is an inaccurate term which, however, has become widely accepted. It is inaccurate because it suggests that we are talking about a new variety, which we are not." It is also affirmed by Wells, who admits that influences from London are now easier to observe: - It is not a variety that has spontaneously emerged recently Estuary English is a new name. But it is not a new phenomenon. It is the continuation of a trend that has been going on for five hundred years or more - the tendency for

These were both controlled laboratory experiments, so the ecological validity suffered. It is argued that performing laboratory experiments on memory do not reflect how and what people remember in real life. The samples were US college students, so the studies were culturally biased. Roediger and McDermott argue that the context of their research is what makes the finding more impressive, since the students knew it was a memory test and inaccurate answers would be spotted. But other research has attempted to take this method to real life, by interviewing people who had witnessed a real robbery. Findings have shown that misleading questions did not seem to distort people's memory. Instead, they have shown that the memory details in real life situations are quite amazing. Those who were most distressed by the situation had the most accurate memories. Frederic Bartlett has also conducted an experiment using serial reproduction, where

If they are not warned about the system's initial naiveté (simplicity), they will think it is useless. In one case, just before a large automotive industry supplier installed a new supply chain forecasting application to predict demand for a product, an automaker put in an order for an unusually large number of units. The system responded by predicting huge demand for the product based largely on one unusual order. Blindly following the system's numbers could have led to inaccurate orders for materials being sent to suppliers within the chain. The company caught the problem but only after a demand forecaster threw out the system's numbers and used his own. That created another problem: Forecasters stopped trusting the system and worked strictly with their own data. The supplier had to fine-tune the system itself, and then work on reestablishing employees' confidence. Once employees understood that they

Selliste toodete kvaliteet ja hind on üldiselt madalam ning neid pakutakse lihtsas pakendis ilma kuluka reklaamita. Generic brands of consumer products (often supermarket goods) are distinguished by the absence of a brand name. It is often inaccurate to describe these products as "lacking a brand name", as they usually are branded, albeit with either the brand of the store in which they are sold or a lesser-known brand name which may not be aggressively advertised to the public. They are identified more by product characteristics. They may be manufactured by less prominent companies, or manufactured on the same production line as a ,,hamed" brand. Generic brands are usually priced below those products sold by supermarkets under their own

Looking at architecture, art, antiquities. Man was expected to return with qualities needed to move in international courtly aristocratic society, fluent in French, graceful in behaviour, polished in manners. Singly or in groups, under supervision (bear leader). Aristocrats alone (governor). Fixed route: Low Countries, France (some months learning language, social graces like dancing, fencing), south to Italy, tour in Italy (arrivers usually had vague, inaccurate notion of the country), Germany and back home. Italy was kind of paradise: pictures, landscapes, seeing things only read about before. Autumn (visitor going to warmth in winter), festivities, spectacles. Critical: Florence, Rome, Naples, Venice. Fount of art, literature, philosophy, music – cultural mecca. Diplomatic representatives, British residents: opened doors, introduced to people. Climax in Rome. Greatest prize: classical antiquities – scuplture, vases, cameos, gems, coins, medals

is a direct function of the number of units included the finaal sample. For a clear discussion of coverage and sampling, see Lohr (Chapter 6). Nonresponse error occurs when some of the sampled units do not respond and when these units differ from those who do and in a way relevant to the study. For an introduction into nonresponse and nonresponse error, see Lynn (Chapter 3). The last cornerstone is measurement error, which occurs when a respondent’s answer to a question is inaccurate, departs from the “true” value (see also Hox, Chapter 20). A perfect survey would minimize all four sources of errors. Coverage error is avoided when every member of the population has a known and nonzero chance of being selected into the survey. Sampling error is reduced simply by sampling enough randomly selected units to achieve the precision that is needed. Nonresponse error is avoided if everyone responds or if the respondents

hump or baleen, make the classification too confusing. Borrowing an analogy from publishing and bookbinding, he divides whales into three "books", called the Folio Whale (largest), Octavo Whale, and the Duodecimo Whale (smaller), represented respectively by the sperm whale, the orca (which he calls the grampus), and the porpoise. Each such book is then divided into "chapters" representing a separate species. By the current taxonomy of Cetacea, Melville's classification is inaccurate and incomplete as well, presenting only a fraction of the nearly ninety species of Cetaceans known today. In the case of some species, in particular the blue whale (which Melville calls the "sulphurbottom whale") very little was known at the time. The classification is thus heavily weighted toward whales hunted for oil and other uses, and presents a picture of the common knowledge of whales at the time of the novel

 A lack of communication and alignment between each link or stakeholder organization in the supply chain  Over- or under-reacting to demand expectations, such as ordering too many units or not enough  Customer companies, often retailers, waiting until orders build up before placing orders with their suppliers, a practice called order batching  Discounts, cost changes and other price variations that disrupt regular buying patterns  Inaccurate forecasts from over-reliance on historical demand to predict future demand KUIDAS VÄHENDADA?  Foster supply chain communication and collaboration. Better alignment around supply chain issues both within the company and among customers, suppliers, distributors, manufacturing and the rest of the partners is needed. In particular, when suppliers work to understand customer needs, they can work to help reduce excessive inventory.  Use better forecasting and visibility tools

Integration of Lean Con. and Building Information Modelling

Models that contain 3D data, but no object attributes: These are models that are great for visualization, but have no intelligence at the object level. They integrate no other information than 3D parameters. Models with no support of behaviour: There are models that define the object but can not adjust their positioning or properties, because they do not utilize parametric intelligence. Making changes is very labour intensive, and there is no protection against inconsistencies or inaccurate information in the model. Models that are composed of multiple 2D reference files that must be combined to define the building: It is impossible to ensure that the results of the 3D model are consistent, feasible, countable, and display intelligence with respect to the objects contained within it. Models that allow changes in one view that are not automatically reflected in other views: This allows errors in the model that are very difficult to detect. 4.2 Interoperability

In odd-eyed white cats, the ear on the blue-eyed side may be deaf, but the one on the orange- eyed side usually has normal hearing. Not all blue-eyed whites will be deaf since there are several different genes causing the same physical attributes (whiteness, blue-eyedness) so it all depends on the cat's genotype (its genetic make-up) not its phenotype (its physical appearance). Some people claim that 99% of blue-eyed white cats are deaf. This is inaccurate because blue-eyedness and whiteness can both be caused by different genes. It all depends on what genes the cat has inherited. These are the actual figures from scientific studies around the world. The percentages are given in ranges because results are different in different areas, partly because of the different genes found in the cat population. Where a cat is classed as deaf, the deafness may affect one or both ears.  95% of the general cat population is non-white cats (i.e

Kuidas muudab mudelprojekteerimine teraskonstruktsioonide valmistamist ja ehitamist

Despite the benefits of 3D and BIM, the model-based approach has not yet solved a fundamental problem regarding the completeness of the design documents. The architects tend to hand over a design that is often only 80% complete. Regardless of whether they hand over a 3D model or 2D drawings, the main question is, does the design team know where all the steel is: elevators, floor openings, roof openings, edge of concrete. When the design drawings are found to be incomplete or inaccurate, the detailing process cannot run smoothly – production becomes inefficient and fragmented. One way how BIM attempts to address this issue, is by bringing different project participants together earlier, letting them influence each other by sharing ideas and offering input during preconstruction. As was illustrated by the Seattle Central Library, there needs to be a clear understanding as to what the design team is going to provide. Architects have been

how to make use of a piece of equipment that simultaneously benefits and imper- ils our welfare. Fortunately, there is a way out of the dilemma. Because the disadvantages of automatic pilots arise principally when incorrect data have been put into the con- trol system, our best defense against these disadvantages is to recognize when the data are in error. If we can become sensitive to situations in which the social proof automatic pilot is working with inaccurate information, we can disengage the mechanism and grasp the controls when we need to. Sabotage There are two types of situations in which incorrect data cause the principle of so- cial proof to give us poor counsel. The first occurs when the social evidence has been purposely falsified.
