ENGLISH TOPICS - palju teemasid inglise keele riigieksami kordamiseks

Education is a very important part in the life of British youth. One can't become an independent person without it. When time comes to enter a college a young Englishman chooses one far away from home. It is a necessary part of becoming adult. During the last 30 years there were a lot of different trends in youth movements. All of them were characterized by their own philosophy, way of life, style of dressing. Each tendency was born by the influence of economic and political changes in the society. Those trends are known as the "hippies" the "punks" the "rockers". But certainly there are different traditional youth organizations in Great Britain. Among them -- the Scout Association, the Girl Guides Association, the National Union of Students, the Youth Club. The latter offers, for example, a wide range of sporting and social activities. The National Union of Students was founded in 1922. It operates through local branches in colleges and universities

Edulugude võistlus

I really wanted to see the world! The only question was how, because my financial resources were limited. Nevertheless, I think, it is the perfect situation in life. If you are eager to get something you have to think how it is possible to fulfill your dreams. I knew I was interested in writing and photography . Then came the question, how could I combine them. I examined the theme thoroughly and to my suprise there have always been many nationwide competitions for students and the prize sometimes has been a journey to somewhere. I rememember clearly that the first prize that I got for an essay was a backpack and the first journey that I won was to Brussels. To this day, thanks to these competitions, I have had the chance to visit about ten foreign countries and many of them even twice. Herewith I just want to say that nothing is impossible. The main thing is the desire to gain something. When you have found a goal, then you just have to start working for it!

reason. A person can be insensitive in one way, such as blind, and extraordinarily sensitive in another way, such as in hearing. It is also possible to be so ultra-sensitive that the result is disadvantageous. I expect no argument in asserting that a normal sensitivity is a healthy, indispensable ingredient for optimal education. Sensitivity can be heightened or blunted by education. It is intertwined with curiosity. An ideal education affords numerous and varied opportunities for students to touch, see, smell, listen, hear; to spark their curiosity. When I was a child the things that pleased me were largely other than the plants which have earned me a living as an adult. For example, I collected postage stamps, played basketball, was fond of listening to music, played all manner of games, but dealt only in a neutral, uninspired fashion with plants. The one thing that was constant and of supreme importance was my love of reading. I don't recall why, but by an early age, say age

) Chronologically the second language I started to learn was French. That was because of the Descartes Lyceum. Don't remember much of that, except for half a dozen badly spelt childrens' songs. Alouette is a really cruel song about tearing different body parts off a lark just to teach kids the names of those parts (and they are not even lark but human parts). I remember one of our young teachers used to play guitar in class and sing for us. That was really cool. Unfortunately we moved and my French studies took a long break, until my one but final school, but there I met a teacher who was anything but good at French, and not only because she was actually a German philologist. She was just plain stupid and envious of my pronounciation. She said so herself. So how much do I know French? Just enough to sing a few songs, understand some simple written text and say a few sentences

Teacher's questions

2. What do you think of the colour scheme of your school? I think that my school is beautiful. My school has got quite good look. In the outside the school is light. But in the inside the schoolrooms are quite colourful. I don't like the gym colour scheme. I think that pink and blue are not very good choice. I think that it's quite funny. But other rooms are in normal colours. 3. If money where not a problem, what would your future home look like? There will be many changes in my home look. Mostly I will enlarge the rooms. I need more living space. The kitchen must be huge, because in huge kitchen is better to cook. And it's good to have own room. Maybe should build the second floor too. In decoration I will colour rooms light. Only the bedroom should be dark, because in dark is better sleep. 4. What makes a good home? I think that everybody's home is the best place in the world. You can always go there. It's good

Personal statement ,,Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage." - Ralph Waldo Emerson This quato, mentioned before, gives me confidence to do great things myself in life and pursue them into bigger ones one day ahead. In these moments i like to remember what Napoleon Hill once said: ,,If you can´t do great things, do small things in a great way." Lessons for the future

Lessons for the future Education seems to be in government's, media's and people's spotlight all the time. Times change and education, as one of the most important areas of our society, needs constant reforming. Nowadays, the main focus seems to be on subjects like maths, physics, chemistry etc. because of current IT-era demands more knowledge in those regions than in humanities. I agree that Estonia's government's steps towards making maths and physics our school- system's top priority is quite right, but I think that there can be a lot more done to improve our educational structure.

Truancy in school – individual responsibility

Truancy in school individual responsibility Hello ladies and gentlemen, today I am here to talk to you about truancy in school and why is it an individual responsibility. Truancy in school is a very serious problem nowadays. Unfortunately many students have lost their motivation to study. According to the BBC 400,000 children were persistently absent from England's schools in the past year and missed about one month of school each. The effect that poor attendance at school can have on a child's education can be permanent and damaging but skipping should be child's own responsibility and it is not right to punish the parents for it. Students have many reasons why they are skipping school, mostly they do not like the

Schools kill creativity

But I have some relatives younger than I am. The youngest is 9 right now. And when I look at what she must study, well, I studied it in 4th or 5th grade and I didn’t have to study that much with that heavy pressure. He also talks about talent and how we call it. We see a kid with a tremendous ability and we think right away that he or she is so talented. Actually, what I think is that kid had just found something he/she feels passinoate about and practiced a lot. Of course there are some super kids, who haven’t practiced that much but are still very good at what they’re doing. Just not that much as much we think there are. I mean, for a kid it’s easy to look talented. Ken Robinson gave his son as an example - the part where his son plays Joseph and switches the lines with other actor on a premiere. I can give my cousin as an example. She wants me to make her a choreography every year around the Christmas. One year she forgot everything,

If I Were a Minister of Education

If I Were a Minister of Education In the last five years we have witnessed several changes in the education system. Although some people find it useful and needed, others find it tragic. What has changed and what would I do to make school a better place? Firstly, there are several things that has been changed in the last few years, such as financing vocational schools. Students of vocational schools get paid for good grades and in some schools even for attending school. Even dorms are paid for students. That is true, we have a chance of getting a little scholarship in high schools, if we graduate with a medal, but it is times and times harder to achieve. In fact government has started to close high schools because they think that there are too many of them. It looks like our country wants only graduates with vocational education, which I find really sad.

To Be Human Is To Discuss Why My Speech Is So Short Most of the students complain about their timetable. Usually they are just fine, but the grass is always greener somewhere else, am I right? But for me and my class, it's a different story. The grass really is greener anywhere else, actually. Why do we go to school? Do we actually want to learn? I think not. Maybe on some level, until fourth grade or something like that, but most of us are in high school to get good grades, so that parents don't kick us out and still give us food and shelter. THE CAPITALIST NIGER

Through their brain power, they control how the world thinks. They are the experts in everything in this world. In fact, every time I tune to radio or television, invariably it is a Jewish individual who is called as expert to explain what had happened. Their brain power has made them financial barons of the world, the real estate moguls of the world, the titans of industry in every category. For example, George Soros, the financial wizard, made over a $billion just by anticipating rate of change in the exchange rate market. Money like that can cure a lot of the pathetic nature of Black people. That amount was made in just one day. Mr. Soros is not a military man. He is an immigrant just like the rest of Americans, but he is nonetheless a warrior for his people. He understands his role in defence of his people and other people with lesser means. You see, you have to admire the Caucasian as well. He has done a lot of good in this world as well as bad. I admire his tenacity

Translation history

• What happened in the 19th and 20th century in translation studies? When and who created the term ‘translation studies’? Translation Studies – James S. Holmes - 1972 Ferdinand de Saussure – Lived during the 19th and 20th century. He was a Swiss linguist and a semiotician. He is widely considered one of the fathers of 20th-century linguistics and one of two major fathers (together with Charles Sanders Peirce) of semiotics/semiology. Saussure's most influential work, Course in General Linguistics (Cours de linguistique générale), was published posthumously in 1916 by former students Charles Bally and Albert Sechehaye on the basis of notes taken from Saussure's lectures in Geneva. The Course became one of the seminal linguistics works of the 20th century, not primarily for the content (many of the ideas had been anticipated in the works of other 20th century linguists), but rather for the innovative approach that Saussure applied in

"Career and Employment" Homereading

Starting a new career is a daunting prospect for many. But Kate Hilpern discovers that plenty of help is at hand Some of the jobs that career changers are most keen to break into PR and teaching, among them are the very same jobs that people are queuing to get out of, says John Lees, author of How to Get a Job You'll Love and Take Control of Your Career. Many of us get to the point, whether in our twenties, thirties, forties or fifties where we decide to change careers. Some of us will make radical changes, while others will move to the edge of their comfort zone, perhaps shifting from acupuncturist to homeopath or PR office to journalist. But the key to making the right decision, says Lees, is to bring your dream back down to life with a hard thump. "I always say to people, 'Find out what you will actually be doing in the job of your dreams. What does the nitty-gritty day-to- day work involve?'"

Health

It was founded in 800's A.D. In the 1700's European cities began to build hospitals. They were charity hospitals for the poor and sick, as the rich people were treated at home. The early hospitals were dark, crowded and very dirty, so it was very likely to be infected even more, when you went to be cured. The first hospital in Estonia was the hospital of Saint John, first mentioned in 1237. It was for the people who had leprosy. 2.2 Recent developments Many scientific advances have helped to improve patient care. Surgical and intensive care units now use electronic equipment. Modern hospitals are full of advanced equipment such as X-ray machines, ultrasound scanners and life-support machines. Computers help hospitals keep laboratory and medical records. Hospitals use many disposable items for safety such as plastic thermometers, and hypodermic syringes and steel needles. They are used only once, so they cannot spread infection. Scientists

very uncomfortable aswering them and at that point he doesn’t care as well. Being a third year history student in University of Tartu, I am wondering over the same questions and find myself often thinking what is expected of me after graduating and how has university played a role in my development for almost three years now. When asked what is the main purpose of university, most people would say that it is preparing students for different proffessions, which would later be the driving force of the country. But I think it is more complicated than that. Going to university is a logical step to a ambitious young high school graduate and some even don’t consider other possibilities. On the other hand, universities are getting a lot of critic because some say that the goal of universities are to produce as many diploma graduates as possible. I think that universities are

Uniforms also prepare you for your future life, when you often have to dress smart when you go to work. It is a lot easier to dress every morning because you do not have to choose between different sets of clothes. You will have only one to choose the uniform. However, I think, that students should not wear uniforms. Wearing uniforms will make individuality dissapear and as a result we would have a group of students in grey or blue uniforms. We could not express ourselves by what we wear. The uniforms are also quite boring and not very inviting. School should be a happy place to be, but the dull colour makes you feel like you have come to prison. It may look nice and smart but it does not make stundents happy. Uniforms are quite often

If I were the minister of education

If I were the minister of education, I would do changes in education system. We have a lot of problems in education. Firstly, I would change the exam system. I will lose the national tests to make the schools themselves and instead of school examinations. It increases the benefit of the examinations passed. What is very positive. Also, it would make life easier for students. Secondly, we should pay more attention to rural schools. There are a lot of schools which would be needed to renovate. It should be a lot of money to invest. We should not focus only on the city schools. Finally, as far as I know from year to year decrease in the number of high school graduates. And this is a great loss for our education. Because we need more and more people to teach at the University of engineers and IT professionals.
