Attraction of blogs People have always loved to share their thoughts. It is very common that people write those thoughts down, usually into their secret diaries. Nowadays individuals write public blogs, which using has grown quite popular. In my opinion, blogs have become more fashionable than keeping private diaries, because they are public. Everyone has access and a chance to read your own personal views. We live in a modern world, where information is crucial and selling, therefore keeping a blog on the Internet is a big attraction for readers. Furthermore, there are all kinds of journals on the web, for example food sites, where people can find many recipes for different meals. Also, fashion blogs, which can give inspiration if wondering what to wear for some kind of an occasion.

,,The Princess Diaries" Meg Cabot I read the first 20 pages of the novel ,, The Princess Diaries." The main character, Mia Thermopolis, didn't get along with her mother so well. So, her mother advised her to start writing a diary. Thats how the book started. Mia thaught that she was a freak , because she was flat chested although she was the biggest girl in her class, and she was a freshman. She had another problem, her mother was going to go out with her Algebra teacher, Mr. Gianini. Mia hated her because she was failing maths. Mia's best friend is Lilly and they talk about almost

Thanks to her creation we can learn about Estonia's life and early years of urbanization a lot. Third writer I am going to talk about is Aino Kallas. She lived 1878-1902. Actually she was a Finnish-Estonian writer. She came from Finland and then started writing in Estonian. She has later said that her problem was that she was trying to fix Estonia's problems, although it wasn't something she should have done as she originally was Finnish. She was really scandalous because she published her diaries. In her diaries she wrote about really personal things that most people would never let anyone else read if it were their life. She is also important because she wrote a lot about Hiiumaa. In a matter of fact she also lived on our island, Hiiumaa. One of her stories that talks about Hiiumaa is Hundimõrsija (The Wolf's bride). It's a werewolf story about 17th century Hiiumaa. The story is rich with archaic, romantic, colourful prose. She was also given an Estonian Red Cross Merit Medal

heroine" was based on any real child, and frequently dedicated his works to girls of his acquaintance, adding their names in acrostic poems at the beginning of the text. Gertrude Chataway's name appears in this form at the beginning of The Hunting of the Snark, and no one has ever suggested this means any of the characters in the narrative are based on her. Though information is scarce (Dodgson's diaries for the years 18581862 are missing), it does seem clear that his friendship with the Liddell family was an important part of his life in the late 1850s, and he grew into the habit of taking the children (first the boy, Harry, and later the three girls) on rowing trips accompanied by an adult friend to nearby Nuneham Courtenay or Godstow. It was on one such expedition, on 4 July 1862, that Dodgson invented the outline

crossed the ocean in search of new opportunities or to escape the poverty and intolerance. Their writings were matter-of-fact accounts of life in America, which explained colonisation to Englishmen back in the homeland. An example of this form of writing is John Smith's A True Relation of Virginia, which is widely recognized to be the first example of Am lit. The early years of colonisation produced a mass of utilitarian writings including biographies, accounts of voyages, diaries, sermons, pamphlets. Much of the material addressed the problems of Church and State. There were few examples of fiction, poetry or drama. Anne Bradstreet of Massachusetts published some lyrical poems of high literary quality (1650) and Edward Taylor, who was born in England but lived in Boston, wrote some poetry in the style of John Donne and the metaphysical poets. All 17 th cent Am writings were, both in content and form, similar to English lit of the same period.

Samuel Pepys: detailed private diary, 1660 – 1669. Combination of personal revelation and eyewitness accounts of great events (Great Plague of London, the Second Dutch War, Great Fire of London). Breathtaking honesty: women he pursued, extramarital relationships, friends, dealings. Reveals his jealousies, insecurities, trivial concerns, fractious relationship with his wife. Personal accounts of the restoration of the monarchy. John Evelyn: his diaries largely contemporaneus to Pepys. Cast considerable light on the art, culture and politics of the time (deaths of Charles I and Oliver Cromwell). Compared to Pepys, self-consciously pious, even reserved. Far more a formal record. 11. 17th century religious prose (Donne, Andrewes, Bunyan) Prose dominated by Christian religious writing, often strayed into political and economic writing John Bunyan: The Pilgrim’s Process – allegory of personal salvation, a guide to Christian life
non-vegetarian men were still not completely evident. A new long-term prospective study, called The Oxford Vegetarian Study, was conducted between 1980 and 1984. Smoking, body mass index and social index were adjusted for all 6000 vegetarians and 5000 non- vegetarians. In the following years, between 1984 and 1986, they took blood samples from the surviving participants and obtained the measurements of plasma lipids and total cholesterol. They were also told to have food diaries to track their nutrient intake. Vegans were reported to have the lowest LDL-cholesterol concentrations (2.28 ± 0.126), while fish eaters had the highest HDL-cholesterol concentrations (1.56 ± 0.038) [Table 2. in the appendix].21 This is mainly because plants contain very little amounts of cholesterol when compared to animal derived foods. Moreover, plant cholesterol is toxic to human cells and for that reason our intestines don’t absorb it very well.22 While fish eaters
Queen Isabella pawning her jewels to finance Columbus' trip. This myth of the pawned jewels obscures the true and more sinister story of how Columbus financed his trip. The Spanish monarch invested in his excursion, but only on the condition that Columbus would repay this investment with profit by bringing back gold, spices, and other tribute from Asia. This pressing need to repay his debt underlies the frantic tone of Columbus' diaries as he raced from one Caribbean island to the next, stealing anything of value. After he failed to contact the emperor of China, the traders of India or the merchants of Japan, Columbus decided to pay for his voyage in the one important commodity he had found in ample supply - human lives. He seized 1,200 Taino Indians, crammed as many onto his ships as would fit and sent them to Spain, where they were paraded naked through the streets of Seville and sold as slaves in 1495

1. Make it conscious. 2. Make it a game. 3. Make it competitive. 4. Make it small and temporary. 1. MAKE IT CONSCIOUS: FLASHING AND "BEFORE" PHOTOS The fastest way to correct a behavior is to be aware of it in real time, not after-the-fact. The curious case of the so-called " ash diet" is a prime example of the di erence. Dr. Lydia Zepeda and David Deal of the University of WisconsinMadison enlisted 43 subjects to photograph all of their meals or snacks prior to eating. Unlike food diaries, which require time- consuming entries often written long after eating, the photographs acted as an instantaneous intervention and forced people to consider their choices before the damage was done. In the words of one participant: "I was less likely to have a jumbo bag of M&Ms. It curbed my choices. It didn't alter them completely, but who wants to take a photo of a jumbo bag of M&Ms?" The researchers concluded that photographs are more e ective than written food diaries. This
