Topic Sports Tallinn English College 8b form 2007 1. Introduction For some people sport plays a very important part in their lives. And to some, it is even a way of life. There are different kinds of sports. For instance, there are sports meant for playing indoors, some can be practised only at a certain time of year. There are winter and summer sports also. Skiing, figure-skating, sledding and snowboarding these four most popular are practised during winter. Good examples of summer sports are: swimming, badminton, roller skating and golf. 2. Each tendency was born by the influence of economic and political changes in the society. Those trends are known as the "hippies" the "punks" the "rockers". But certainly there are different traditional youth organizations in Great Britain. Among them -- the Scout Association, the Girl Guides Association, the National Union of Students, the Youth Club. The latter offers, for example, a wide range of sporting and social activities. The National Union of Students was founded in 1922. It operates through local branches in colleges and universities. It promotes the educational, social and general interests of students. But certainly the most numerous is the Scout Association, founded in 1908 for boys and in 1910 for girls by Lord Baden-Powel. The Scout movement is to encourage a sense of adventure and of responsibility for others among young people. The programme of training

Hobbies I have always thought that everybody should have their own hobby. Hobby, which is good and useful way to spend your time instead of playing computer games. I live in the countryside and because of that i don't have many opportunities do deal with hobbies, which I like. I have one hobby, which I really like, but the negative side of it is that I can do it only in the winter. No, it's not skiing, it's ice skating! I love it and it doesn't urge not much at all in the winter. All you need are ice skates, warm clothes and clean ice, which exist in the countryside too. I have bought myself figure skates, which didn't cost much, because i bought already used ones. Ice skates can be really expensive, but you should buy expensive ones, when you are already professional. The primary danger in ice skating is falling on the ice. You can be injured really seriously, but usually you just get some bumps or bruises

Maybe even became a member of a sport club. But it is important to believe in exercising and to stay positive. After years of exercising, it gets much easier. P.E for me in real life is very important, because if I want to be healthy and look good, I have to do sport and move a little. I think that it is important that your parents do sports too. It is much better, if you and your parents do some sports with you, so they give good example. In summer you can ride a bike, swim, run or play ball games together. In winter skiing or skating is possible. It's very good if your parents help you to get in good shape. I do sports five times a week, and that is good, because I feel good after that and that keeps me healthy. If I don't do any sport, I get tired very quickly. Overall, P.E is very important for all of us - to you, your parents and your friends. All of us have to too sport even a little bit.

today. In 1963, skateboarding was at a peak of popularity, and companies like Jack's, Hobie and Makaha started holding skateboarding competitions.. Torger Johnson, Woody Woodward and Danny Berer were some well known skateboarders at this time, but what they did looked almost completely different from what skateboarding looks like today! Their style of skateboarding, called "freestyle", is more like dancing ballet or ice skating with a skateboard. Then, in 1965, skateboarding's popularity suddenly crashed. Most people assumed that skateboarding was a fad that had died out, like the hoola hoop. Skateboard companies folded, and people who wanted to skate had to make their own skateboards again from scratch. But people still skated, even though parts were hard to find and boards were home made. Skaters were using clay wheels for their boards, which was extremely dangerous and hard to control

All that American companies had to do was stop making tanks and battleships and start making cars and household appliances. By 1950 almost 90% of American families had refrigerators, and nearly three quarters had washing machines, telephones, vacuum cleaners and gas or electric stoves things that most of the rest of the world could still only fantasize about. allergy. Allergy means that people are over-sensitive to certain things, such as some kind of food, medicines, dust etc. Many people suffer from heart diseases. It is not rare that a person has a heart attack or a stroke. These troubles and neuroses are often caused by stress and by the quick tempo of our life. Cancer is still a major problem, in many cases not curable. It is a disease that causes cells in the body to grow uncontrollably. There are about 100 different kinds of cancer. In winter we have coughs and colds. This is because of the low temperature, which makes our organisms weak and more vulnerable to diseases. Drugs help patients fight diseases or relieve pain, such as aspirin and ibuprofen. 5. First aid Most accidents happen at home. Many people die because their family doesn't know how to help them. Central Canada which includes Ontario and Quebec is not the geographical centre of Canada. It is called that because it has historically been the political and economic centre of the country. Central Canada is the most heavily populated and industrialised area. In there lie the Great Lakes the largest body of fresh water in the world. Some of the first settlements in Canada were, naturally, built around those areas. In the Atlantic Provinces, the most important activities include fishing and farming of all sorts. Also in the Atlantic Provinces are the Appalachian Mountains old and rounded mountains. The North is also comprised of three territories. The area has a varied landscape including mountains and plains. The climate there is extremely cold with long winters and a lot of snow. Much of the area is treeless tundra. It's a general consensus, that playing video games is bad for people's mental and physical health. But is playing computer games really all around bad? First of all I'd like to point put the negative sides of computer gaming. One, that instantly comes to mind is addiction. Nowadays video gaming addiction is fairly common occurence, when kids don't think about anything but playing games on the computer and sacrificing hours upon hours of studying and socializing to play "a few more" rounds. Another bad thing is teen obesity. It's confirmed that the risk being overweight is increased

Dress Etiquette Business attire is stylish and conservative. Men should wear dark coloured, conservative business suits. Women should wear conservative business suits, trouser suits, or dresses. Socializing Finnish universities create organizations and associations for just about every subject and interest, i.e. French Club, Hockey Club. Each club has welcome parties, drinking parties, movie nights and dinners, making it very easy to integrate into a group. They also have clubs based on what region you come from in . Therefore, if you need a little taste of home-away-from-home, you can socialize with other students from your region. Once in high school and university, individual dates are normal, such as going for a picnic, ice skating or to see a movie. It is good to keep in mind the outdoorsy nature of Finns, who often enjoy a good hike or walk by the lake

Get some good walking shoes, dress for the weather, and hoof it! 3. Ride Your Bike --- If you need to travel a greater distance, take your bike. Again, it's good exercise, it feels great and it's fun. 4. Take a Bus --- Many communities have a public transit system. We all need to use and support public transit, because if these systems are used adequately they are more energy efficient than cars, and they help reduce wasteful traffic congestion. If we increase their use, the governments will increase the frequency and convenience of the schedules, which in turn

Visitors from other countries converge in Tallinn to experience the powerful singing, lively dances and intricate, colourful folk costumes at first hand. If you're interested in seeing this spectacular live performance, or maybe even taking part in a festival, the next event happens in 2004, 2009 and 2013. The song festivals began in 1869, part of the romantic and nationalist movement in Europe. They developed a network of interactions among people along with making folk customs more widely known and practiced. The solidarity that the continued performance of the song festivals fostered, along with the logistics of moving large numbers of people around the country, served the Estonians well in their enormous demonstration for freedom in 1989, the Baltic Chain. The official Üldlaulupidu site gives a route to ordering VHS tapes and DVDs of the song and dance festivals. It also has a gazillion photos. here are a few facts about it :

regular checkups with the doctor and the dentist. A big part of prevention of diseseases is sporting. Poeple need to have phsical exercise. If they can not have it, they will get stressed and they will be infected with dieseases much easier. For example it would be good to run every day for some time. That way one probably will not become fat, he or she will get fresh air and rest from daily problems. There are many other health-sports also. Many people go swimming. During winter people go skiing. Some people also do aerobics. People go to gym as well. Our body needs rest too. The best way of resting is sleeping. Grown-ups need to sleep for about 8 hours, growing children need more sleep. If we don't sleep enough, we may fall ill beacuse a tired body cannot resist illnesses. Our health also depends on the clothes we wear. In winter, when it is cold, we should wear warm clothes.
