“You can never go home again“ Lord of the flies

The quote "You can never go home again" is related to "Lord of the flies" in both literal and metaphorical sense. Luckily most of the boys could go home in a literal sense but unfortunately some of them were dead by the time rescuers came to save them. When boys were left on the island alone the savages inside them started to appear and there were few quite good reasons for that. The experience on the island changed all of them and when they were finally rescued everyone went home as sort of different persons. In the beginning when boys had just discovered that they are alone in this paradise island they were all innocent and longed for rescue but towards the end they gradually turned into savages who painted their faces, hunted and were willing to kill each other. For example in the third chapter all boys are still civilised and enjoy the beauty of the island when Simon

When they arrive, they buy supplies and camp in the woods. During their trip they make new friends, but also get into fight with two mean boys, do some chores for an old lady (Miss Williams), get lost, build a cabin and go fishing, swimming and sailing. After Joe and Kathleen have done some chores for Miss Williams, they buy a boat and camp on an island in the middle of the lake. Soon a rainstorm starts, but luckily they get rescued by the Lake Warden before the island disappears under water. In the end the kids get permission to stay with Miss Williams for the rest of the summer and they do't have to return to Mrs.McCafferty I think the book was too predictable and a little bit boring for me, but younger readers will certainly enjoy it. For a children's book, I think it's great. Some of the phrases and words I find interesting: Porch veranda Leave someone stranded - kedagi hätte/kitsikusse jätma

One day, when he drove the carriage led by Black Beauty, they nearly had an accident. Thanks to the clever horse, they avoided a broken bridge and got home later but safe. On another occasion, on a trip to Oxford they stopped for the night. A careless man smoked in the stables and caused a big fire. Black Beauty and Ginger were rescued by James but both he and Ginger were unwell after that and had to rest. Chapters 9 –11: Black Beauty saved Mrs Gordon’s life when he ran very fast to bring the doctor to her. He then became ill himself because a new groom didn’t look after him properly when he got back. The Gordons moved abroad and Black Beauty and Ginger were sold to Lord Westland at Earl’s Hall. They had a good groom, but Lady Westland was unkind and made the horses wear bearing reins so that they held their heads

the film. For example, Edward Rochester asks Jane Eyre to detail her "tale of woe" but she refuses. Despite the harsh conditions she faces, her character is compelling because she remains strong and the film follows the book in emphasizing this point. Jane's rescue of Edward Rochester from fire is another action taken directly from the book that shows her courage. Opinion Film starts near the end of the story when Jane Eyre drifting in the rain, impoverished and homeless until she is rescued by St. John Rivers and his sisters. From this point, the film returns to the beginning of the story. Unlike the film, the book begins with Jane's childhood and moves forward chronologically. The flashback technique adds drama and mystery to the effect of the film. Consider how the film maintains pace and viewer interest. The story does not, for instance, go into great detail about Edward Rochester begging Jane Eyre to stay with him

Soon comedy of manners became quite prominent. Things got more interesting when melodrama became important. Melodrama depicts a simplyfying moral universe in which good and evil are clear cut and so we have a hero and a villain. There is often struggle for dominance between the hero and villain. The struggle is violent and sensational. Usually good wins. American melodrama in the 19c centers on innocent and vulnerable female character who faces all kinds of sexual threats. She is rescued by the hero and often married him. The play based on a novel ,,uncle tom's cabin". The play was written by Aiken. Serious quality writers weren't satisfied with this and ideas of realism started to inspire. Gradually a realistic theatre developed what represented common place middle class american life. This kind of drama included moral and psychology. Plot became less important, character more important. These realistic plays created an illusion of verisimilitude-true to life

go to heaven. A cat with a stumpy tail is not perfect and imperfect creatures cannot go to heaven. I examined a tabby cat brought back from Japan whose owner claimed that its tail had been cut off by monks during kittenhood. I found evidence of knots and kinks in the remnant of tail which told me it was a natural bobtail. Also, the tail ended quite normally in a black tip. This was a perfectly normal genetic bobtail, though the owner preferred to think she had rescued an abused cat. In 1988, the Cat Association of Britain finalised the standard for the "Oriental Bobtail"; a cat of oriental (or foreign) conformation and coat, but with a bobbed tail. Since then, little or nothing has been heard of this breed. The most famous bobtailed breed is the Japanese Bobtail found in both shorthair and semi- longhair varieties. This is due to a recessive gene. It has appeared in ancient Japanese art and has evidently existed back as far as the 6th century

... These five messages detailed the rescue arrangements, which offered the Japanese a chance to get not only the shipwrecked crew but the force coming out to save it. All of them could have been solved within an hour by even a moderately experienced cryptanalyst. Yet at 10 p.m. the operation went off without the least hint of enemy interference. It seems likely that had the Japanese solved these elementary enciphered messages, they would have taken some action against the rescuers or the rescued or both. They did nothing. If their communications intelligence had been better, how might contemporary history have been changed! Their failure sharpens the contrast with Allied successes. For Allied cryptanalysts—which in the Pacific meant mostly Americans—galloped like Tartars through the phalanxed ranks of a legion of Japanese cryptosystems. They ravaged and plundered with a prodigality that did not trifle with petty matters. One system, when solved, proved to be used
