Pandas are known for their large black patches around their eyes, ears and across their round bodies. Male pandas can weigh up to 160 kg and females can weigh as little as 75 kg. The giant panda's thick, wooly coat keeps it warm in the cool forests. It has strong jaw muscles and teeth for eating tough bamboo. Giant pandas are generally solitary. Each adult has a defined territory and female pandas do not tolerate each other. Pandas are known to attack humans, but rather out of irritation than aggression.
