Thanks. I really appreciate it." No need to add that my being happy in Forks is an impossibility. He didn't need to suffer along with me. And I never looked a free truck in the mouth -- or engine. "Well, now, you're welcome," he mumbled, embarrassed by my thanks. We exchanged a few more comments on the weather, which was wet, and that was pretty much it for Conversation. We stared out the windows in silence. It was beautiful, of course; I couldn't deny that. Everything was green: the trees, their trunks covered with moss, their branches hanging with a canopy of it, the ground covered with ferns. Even the air filtered down greenly through the leaves. It was too green -- an alien planet. Eventually we made it to Charlie's. He still lived in the small, two-bedroom house that he'd bought with my mother in the early days of their marriage. Those were the only kind of days their marriage had -- the early ones

come true. You deserve it. And to Alistair and Jessica, from Seven Years to Sin , who inspired me to write Gideon and Eva's story. I'm so glad the inspiration struck twice! 1 "We should head to a bar and celebrate." I wasn't surprised by my roommate's emphatic pronouncement. Cary Taylor found excuses to celebrate, no matter how small and inconsequential. I'd always considered it part of his charm. "I'm sure drinking the night before starting a new job is a bad idea." "Come on, Eva." Cary sat on our new living room floor amid a half-dozen moving boxes and flashed his winning smile. We'd been unpacking for days, yet he still looked amazing. Leanly built, dark-haired, and green-eyed, Cary was a man who rarely looked anything less than absolutely gorgeous on any day of his life. I might have resented that if he hadn't been the dearest person on earth to me. "I'm not talking about a bender," he insisted

A 1.1 Read the text and answer the questions below. Dear Mary-Alice, It's been ages since I last wrote to you, isn't it weird? Yes, so it is, but, I do have a certain reason. Do you remember Sir Thom of the Minquettes'? That fine young man with fascinating blue eyes... Oh, my sweet Mary, you will never guess what happened yesterday! It was about seven o'clock in the evening when Lillian called me out for a walk you know I can't say `no' to my little sis. Anyway we went to the forest near the Swan Lake and, believe it or not, got lost! Awful! I was so scared... We walked and walked, not even knowing the direction we were heading to, until we reached a huge mansion. And the garden around it was so extraordinary... That is something you just must see! But neither the trees nor flowers could be as wonderful as the owner himself! Sir Thom treated us tea and sandwiches, not forgetting to show us way back to the village. He was so kind, don't you think?

Loveless smiled and replied quietly, "Sooner or later we'll join your forces and defeat them once and for all!" The other two exchanged a scared look, yet said nothing. The man was too angry to follow the conversation. Heartless left the "Devil's" orphanage and went to see the Royal Church, where all homeless people could stay for the night. At least she had heard so. She herself couldn't enter any church before, because the Puppet Master wanted them to stay away from all sacred placed he was a true Demon, after all! But finally, the long-wanted freedom had arrived! Of course, losing home was unpleasant, but fortunately it was spring, so there was time to live without worries until the first snowfall. It was evening indeed, so the temperature stayed around +5 Degrees only. Heartless was cold, yet she was used to it already

Our parents passed away when Elisa was still a baby and uncle, who's been raising us can't even cook! I mustn't leave my little sister alone!" The doctor thought for a moment and then said, "I know! I have a little cottage in Mellow, a village by the river Ray. Maybe it's possible to take Elisa with me! I'm going there myself with Theresa tomorrow. They were exceptionally nice to her, and Jack Noonan asked if she wouldn't rather go somewhere else, to her sister's house perhaps, or to his own wife who would take care of her and put her up for the night. No, she said. She didn't feel she could move even a yard at the moment. Would they mind awfully of she stayed just where she was until she felt better. She didn't feel too good at the moment, she really didn't. Then hadn't she better lie down on the bed? Jack Noonan asked. No, she said. She'd like to stay right where she was, in this chair. " "Ah, you do not know what I suffer." "But I hope you will get over it, and live to see many young men of four thousand a year come into the neighbourhood." "It will be no use to us, if twenty such should come, since you will not visit them." "Depend upon it, my dear, that when there are twenty, I will visit them all." Mr. Bennet was so odd a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice, that the experience of three-and-twenty years had been insufficient to make his wife understand his character. Her mind was less difficult to develop. She was a woman of mean understanding, little information, and uncertain temper. When she was discontented, she fancied herself nervous. The business of her life was to get her daughters married; its solace was visiting and news. Chapter 2 Mr. Bennet was among the earliest of those who waited on Mr. Bingley

A NEW BEGINNING It was a dark and a silent night, when two young riders dressed within black rushed across the Devil`s Field. Suddenly one of them stopped and glanced at the moonless sky. After a minute or two spent in abnormal silence the first rider cried out as loud as he could: "Run!" The second man jumped off his horse and rushed to the forest that was waiting some meters ahead.

At last we found that we could go walk in the beach where also were many shops. But it was miles away, so we had to rent a car. We could rent a car from our hotel's reception. Unfortunately we were told that all cars were hired out. Then my parents suggested to spend the day swimming in a hotel pool, but I didn't feel spending my day like this. We are passive when we watch TV. Television shows us many interesting programmes. But again there is a disadvantage here: we watch TV every evening, and it begins to dominate our lives. My friend told me that when his TV-set broke down, he and his family found that they had more time to do things and to talk to each other. There are other arguments for and against television. Very often the programmes are bad. Sometimes they show too much violence in films and news programmes. There is also too much pop music and ads. Ads on the whole are convenient for grown-ups. It’s not just an ordinary story because my brother, back then, was allergic to bees. And because of that I may have saved his life. It all began on a sunny summer day at my grandfather’s country home. We had a dog back then and he had his own fenced garden with a doghouse in it.
