Pros and Cons of Homeschooling

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling Hello! My name is Sander and today I talk about Homeschooling. Homeschooling is becoming more popular every day, with a growth rate of 7 percent per year. There are about two million children currently learning at home. Homeschooled kids do well on standardized tests and are welcome at colleges and universities. Pros: Individual teaching attention Continuous population growth is leading to overcrowded schools in many areas. Add this to the recent economic struggles, with many schools laying off teachers or closing altogether. This means that teachers are more overwhelmed than ever, often handling classes of 40 or more children at a time. Personalized learning

Töötaotlus

Dear Ms. Higgins 02/02/2012 I saw an advertisement on a ,,Daily News" newspaper. There was written, that You offer some jobs for summer. I´m interested in of babysitter job. I love kids very much. I could make kids always smile and always stop kids crying. I also know a lot of games, which are good to play with kids and I know, how to educate them with playing. I can take big pressure and always be calm. I have done that job a bit before and so I have a little experience. Last year, me and my two friends were babysitters in kindergarten for one day. I also have a two year old brother, who I baby-sit, when my parents are busy or go to work. I´m 16 years old and will turn 17 on autumn. I´ll end the basic school on 15th June. I´ll also give You my phone number and address

Essay: my ideal job

My ideal job When I graduate university, I would like to become a teacher. I want to teach Estoninan language and literature. I want to teach highschool students. I’d like to teach in my hometown, Tartu. I want to become a teacher beacause I like kids. Also, I like to teach and explain. Literature was my favourite subject in school. I like almost all books from compulsory literature. Especially I like „Master and Margarita“ and „Dorian Gray“. I think it is very important to read books, especially young people should read. Literature improves their vocabulary and changes their picture of the world and maybe teach tolerance. I’d give enough time to read every book carefully. I wouldn’t just make a test with

One good reason.

100 word story by Katya Novozilova One good reason Blink-182 is a popular punk band from California formed in 1992 by Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Scott Raynor. One of the best song they have is "One good reason". It says about mums and dads who don't understand that kids want to be special in clothiers, music, so why they say to them what to wear, give them a reason why kids need to be like others. Children can just have fun and live how they like, because soon they will grow up and life wouldn't be so easy, because in childhood kids don't worry and they are happy!

Monologue

Parental obligations end when a child reaches the age of majority, which is 18 years old. Until that, parents are free to make all decisions relating to the welfare of their child as they see fit. Because of that law, some people say that parents should make all their children’s decisions until the children are 18. However, other people say that children should be given a chance to solve their problems on their own. There are parents who prefer to make all decisions for their kids. Some of them do it because they are afraid to see their child suffering through setbacks, others do not want to give their children the freedom of doing their own choices. In my opinion those kids in the future could have some problems with self-confidence. As a result, it will be harder for them to live in the world where nobody tells you what is best or how to do something, or even which of these sofas would look better in your living room.

Schools kill creativity

He also talks about talent and how we call it. We see a kid with a tremendous ability and we think right away that he or she is so talented. Actually, what I think is that kid had just found something he/she feels passinoate about and practiced a lot. Of course there are some super kids, who haven’t practiced that much but are still very good at what they’re doing. Just not that much as much we think there are. I mean, for a kid it’s easy to look talented. Ken Robinson gave his son as an example - the part where his son plays Joseph and switches the lines with other actor on a premiere. I can give my cousin as an example. She wants me to make her a choreography every year around the Christmas. One year she forgot everything,

Summer holidays are too long

Summer holidays are too long Summer holidays are important. Children need enough time to rest from school hard work. They have to have time to do all the things they like. Children aren't the only ones who need all this, teachers need it too. Children need long holidays. In summer they can go on vacation with their families and visit all the interesting places. Some kids like water parks and amusement parks, some are interested in museums. They can also visit relatives. Every child wants to play and spend time with friends outside of school, also develop their hobbies. If summer holidays were shorter, they wouldn't have time to do all this. School is hard work. Learning new things all day, and after school there is homework to do. There is quite little time left for children to keen on their hobbies

What methods should parents and governments use to tackle obesity in schoolchildren?

What methods should parents and governments use to tackle obesity in schoolchildren? At the beginning of 21st century obesity amongst has become a major issue in many highly developed countries such as Germany and United Kingdom. Kids are participating in less physical activities then before and food that has high sugar and fat content is easily accessible for them. Thanks to modern day society it does not seem like the rates are going down themselves any time soon. What could government and/or parents do to make youngsters lifestyle healthier? One approach that parents should consider is to influence their children to part-take in a heathy lifestyle

Advertising has a bad influence on children

To begin with, childrens are defenseless. They do not understand the ads or commercials, they do not know that it is only a business plan. Advertisements are made in such a way as to attract the attention of children. And that leads to there that children ask their parents to buy some certain products. Children are very useful customers for companies, they help businesses to increase their profits. Secondly, children are often able to remember messages targeted towards adults and kids remember the content in advertisements what will have a influence on children for a very long time. Very large influence on children has junk food commercials or ads. When children see on TV junk food commercials they want to try it, and when they do, they become to like junk food, but children do not understand that junk food is not good for their health. They are unaware of the fact that junk food does not contain nutritional value.

Because of the amount of coordination required for each project, both successes and failures would inevitably spring up along the way, giving the children a meaningful experience of what it is like to work on a real-world project. The teacher would have an important role, psychologically coaching the kids through the highs and lows of the project and facilitating discussions to make them work better together and motivate themselves. In addition, academic lessons would be split into two halves. The first half would be a basic skills seminar, and the second an advanced class. Students would be able to choose whether to stay the second half, or else they could leave to work on their current project, read, or pursue an independent study of another subject. When you want to go out with your friends, then you can´t because you have to be at work or relationships with opposite gender will suffer. And when you are grown up you will understand that you have lost a piece of your childhood. However, these students are after school more prepared to real life, where you have your own family or even you have kids and it is very important to your future life. Taking everything into account, having a job while studying, should be students own decision, parents should only slightly direct their kids, not determine strictly, what should and what shouldn´t.

Olenevalt lapse vanusest on võimalik lemmikloomaga erinevad tegevusi läbi viia. Kuid alati peavad vanemad jälgima, et antud tegevused oleksid nii looma kui lapse jaoks ohutud. Teiseks aspektiks loomade mõjule lapse arengus tõi Dickstein (2007) välja ...

The ideal school for my children

Students would be able to choose whether to stay the second half, or else they could leave to work on their current project, read, or pursue an independent study of another subject. The students who stayed - the "second halfers" - would be known as the students with the greatest passion for the subject. No grades or competition would exist. Rather, the motivation to work would come from a desire to earn the respect of teachers and fellow students and establish a positive self-identity. Kids would also decide the degree to which they would like to participate. Involvement would be based on interest and the satisfaction of publically confirming their talents. If these ideas could be successfully implemented, the learning environment in my school would be a fascinating self-journey, as useful for building emotional knowledge as it would be for sharpening academic skills. Learning would be a fulfilling, exciting experience, and kids wouldn't have to dread school, as they do now

Surprisingly 73% of the questioned British children think that the aim of children’s education is to prepare them for a career. Only 23% of the questioned British think that school prepares them for everyday life. The result surprised me because it showed that British kids and Estonian kids think very differently. THE SCHOOL UNIFORM Surprisingly, 17% of the questioned Estonian students approved the school uniform, for me it was surprising that so many approved the school uniform. Predictably, 74% of the questioned British students approved school uniform, which was expected, because school uniforms are more wide-spread in British schools than in Estonian schools. Speech about Pärnu

Pärnu. Parnu is the 4th largest town in Estonia and is the largest Estonian Baltic Sea resort with bathing establishments. Many cultural and sports events, some of which have become local traditions, offer entertainment all year round. And now lets start our tour ! First we visit Pärnu Beach. The famous sandy Pärnu Beach is just a 15-minute walk from the centre. Tens of thousands of sub-worshippers and swimmers may visit the beach every day in summer. It's very comfortable for families with kids. Pärnu Beach has fun attractions for kids, swings, surfing equipment rental, mini golf, lots of ice cream and other refreshments. Romantics love the Pärnu Beach Promenade all through the year. Pärnu Beach Promenade completed in 2006, and it makes the Summer Capital's beaches inviting even in bad weather! Thought-out lighting keeps the beach active even when the sun goes down, and the playing colours of the fountains are a sight in themselves in the darkness of the night.

choose the best subjects for them. I think that the absences wouldn't be so punishable by the school, because I think it's your own choice if you go to school or not, just like in universities. There should be more e-learning lessons, because when I can't or do not want to go to school today then I can do the lessons at home on my own and then submit them to the teacher. If I were the minister of education, then I would do all that what makes kids love school. All teachers should love children and also love working with them. Teachers should believe in children's abilities. At least in elementary schools falling out should be impossible. I would do anything it takes for all kids to get the best education they need. I would like if children could say that school is their second home. Laura Illak

Describing People

the most helpful person I know. But all the bright sides have always something negative. So do Marin. She really is a very attractive and friendly person, but when she gets angry, you should not be in her sight. She never hurts anyone physically, but her words can cause more damage than a thousand hits. She likes to take part in every action where possible so she has many hobbies. First of all, she is a very good tennisplayer. She also takes part in a dancing practise. Marin loves little kids and she likes to spend time with them in every free second she has. So she also acts in different camps as an educator. She is adorable! Considering all the things, there is too much positive sides in Marin to dislike her. She is popular with cowds and a non-smoker. She likes kids and helping others. All in all it is good to have a friend like her. She is just superb!

How to keep Estonians in Estonia - kirjand

which they are not able to pay back after graduating. They have to get a well-paid job. But here in Estonia you can't get a great job unless you have a relative who's a top executive. Because of this many people go to a foreign country for a short time. At least that's what they say. Most of my friends and relatives who have gone abroad years ago are sure they are never coming back to live in Estonia. I'm not sure if it would help to keep Estonians in Estonia if kids would have a normal childhood but it really makes me angry that they have to be able to read at the age of 5. I think it wouldn't hurt to be able to read before school if the kid is interested in it. But to put pressure on them at such a young age is wrong. School is a place where kids are forced to do things they don't like but it shouln't be like that in kindergarten. What i'm trying to say is young people don't have time to do

Childhood

My Children Deserve the Best Childhood Ever Hi! I am 35 years old. I live with my husband and we have two kids: Oliver and Merilin. Oliver is 10 years old and Merilin is 7 years old. Before getting these two kids, me and my husband used to live in a flat in the centre of the city. But when I get pregnant for the first time, we decided to move in a house in Nõmme. It's a beautiful place to live. My favourite, because I lived there when I was younger. It's also nice that we have a big backyard where our children can play and just spend time. Me and my husband can also spend good time there. We usually grill there or have parties with our friends.

It's bad when you are over the kid, then she/he might not undrestand you or there can be some problems. Children need some attention to, if not then kids will be low-spirited. Younger kids need smaal kisses and some hugs or something that. Everytime when you send your child to school and say something good wend they leave , they will remeber whole day. Sometimes parents forget to say good but wrongness is human. When you say something then you should say clearly and loud, otherwise they miss out on information. PHYSICAL EDUCATION

(such as pull-ups and push-ups) and even swimming. Physical education provides children with an opportunity to exercise during the day. It gives children early exposure to team sports, and promotes good physical fitness. Children who participate in physical education get a workout, and they also learn the importance of exercise as a lifelong habit. Physical education is clearly an important course in schools, with many benefits for children. In addition to helping kids learn healthy habits and stay off drugs, physical education can also increase learning by getting the blood flowing and increasing oxygen levels, which promote concentration. Sports and PE help children build self esteem and help them learn important lessons in teamwork. Physical education is extremely important and should be protected in schools, despite budget cuts. Children who take PE classes at school may also be able to use those classes

The highest result of education is tolerance

The highest result of education is tolerance Ladies and gentleman! Today I will discuss a topic what is opened by a quote by beautiful Helen Keller: The highest result of education is tolerance. Today is the day you will understand that her quote is accurate. So I should probably start with a question. Why should we be tolerant to weird kids at school? Does anybody in this room know why?........Okay, let's just drop that question for now, we'll come back to it later. If I would ask you Where do we get our education from you all would probably say: From schools duuuh! But what is a school? Tallinn English College? Yeah, it is a school with all those fancy numbers with what you can become successful........but the greatest education comes from the life school where we learn about other people's views and thoughts. It is evidently accurate to say that when boys first arrived to the island they were still kids, but when they left the island they all had lost their innocence and become almost grown-up. Therefore as the boys were finally rescued they could go home in a literal sense but all of them knew that nothing would ever be the same again. Well-behaved British boys gradually became savages on the island because it was natural that in each of them occured survival instinct when they were afraid. Golding also demonstrated in

Chat rooms

The first and most important thing you need to realize about the Internet is that you can find anything and anyone on the Internet that you can find in the real world. The only difference is that in the Internet you have a greater deal of anonymity that you get in the real world. Can chat rooms be dangerous? Most definitely. Particularly channels that clearly are catering to younger children. Pedophiles go where the kids are, and that is just as true on the Internet as in the "real world". Does that mean you should avoid all chat channels? Not at all. Just be aware of what you are doing and saying, and if you have small children, be sure to monitor their activity on the Internet. There are several programs, as I recall, that allow parents to track what their children are seeing and doing while on-line. One of the biggest threats on chat rooms is the presence of pedophiles, online

It can be entertaining and educational, and can open up new worlds for kids, giving them a chance to travel the globe, learn about different cultures. However spending time watching TV can take time away from healthy activities like active play outside with friends, eating dinner together as a family, or reading. Drugs and how they affect your health.

Medicines are legal drugs, meaning doctors are allowed to prescribe them for patients, stores can sell them, and people are allowed to buy them. But it's not legal, or safe, for people to use these medicines any way they want. Cigarettes and Alcohol Cigarettes and alcohol are two other kinds of legal drugs. (In Estonia, adults 18 can buy cigarettes and alcohol.) But smoking and excessive drinking are not healthy for adults and off limits for kids. Nicotine is the drug in tobacco leaves. Whether someone smokes, chews, or sniffs tobacco, he or she is delivering nicotine to the brain. Each cigarette contains about 10 milligrams of nicotine. Nicotine is what keeps people smoking despite its harmful effects. Because the smoker inhales only some of the smoke from a cigarette and not all of each puff is absorbed in the lungs, a smoker gets about 1 to 2 milligrams of the drug from each cigarette. A drop of

Some people say that board games are only for small children. If someone says "board game" then people will start think about small kids playing snake and ladders. I agree that that kind of board games is for childrens but nowadays there is very much dice games for grown-ups too. The most famous adults board game is chess. Much children can play it too, but still it needs little bit bigger brain and someway it likes for intelligent people more than the others. Most unforgettable childhood experience

What is your most unforgettable childhood experience? I have quite many childhood experiences that i remember, but following is the one, what i can remember really well. I was 5 years old, just learned to ride a bike, and as most of kids at the same age, so do i wanted a new bike. One day that my mother came to brought me home from kindergarten, we went home, and i was very surprised when i saw brand new bike standing at living room. I was so excited and immediately wanted to go for a ride, but in outdoors was already dark, so I had to wait next day. At that night i couldn't sleep very well, because i was so excited and anxiously waited for morning. It was one of my best and memorablest days from my childhood.

Paul Graham, “Hackers

what motivates computer programmers to do what they do, as well as attempt to answer many of the questions that have arisen with computers. He explains the word “hacker” has more than the one definition most of us are familiar with. The hackers who Paul Graham refers to throughout the book are the good computer programmers who have made all that we have real. Graham's first chapter, "Why Nerds Are Unpopular," tries to explain why smart kids are at the bottom of the food chain in high school and what their priorities are. While writing about nerds, Graham talks about his own progress to become computer scientist and painter. He explains the similarities between painters and computer hackers, including the desire to make existing things better.

Praising Children

In 1969 Nathaniel Branden said that high self-esteem is the main foundation for parenting and has dominated since. It is incredibly important for us all to have a feeling of self-worth and acceptance, but as- children are been praised too much. Are we given the skills to work at a goal instead of expecting to complete it easily because we are told we are "smart"? Are we set up for failure by being told how smart we are, when in all actuality maybe we are right where we should be: in the middle? I have a feeling that the way we praise and are been praised is going to change; not that teachers and parents are going to be overly critical of their children and students, but that the way they encourage their kids will be more equal to others. We should be inspired to work harder for knowledge not for grades. B.K 11c

If I were the misiter on education

vegetables and fruits so I would make buffets healthier. Secondly, I believe that it would make classes more effective to watch different educational movies. Doing the same thing from day to day is simply boring and some variety would surely increase students' interest in class. The third thing I would do to spice up life at school is organizing more fieldtrips. There are many different cultural and historical exhibits and museums kids may never visit unless they skip classes to do so. To sum up, I would say that although the Minister of Education could change a lot, our school life today is pretty good.

Raport on teenage crime

Possible solutions 1. We have to enlarge collaboration with teenages. 2. More hobbies for them like sport or music 3. catch them in to joint action 4. more different interesting opportunities 5. Practice different social skills with him/her, such as greeting others, "breaking the ice," asking questions, and listening well. You also can role-play ways to resist peer pressure, such as offers of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs from other kids. 6. minimise narcotic drug and weapons accessibility 7. Fight against narcotic drugs. The fight against drugs is very important not only for preventing drug offences but for reducing crime as such. Conclusion I believe crime will only get better if the community, and our society, gets stronger. Today's young people need adult's interaction without this we can't prepare them for the transition from childhood to adulthood. 202 words

Having children while young

Having children while young In my opinion, having children while young is a bad thing, but there are some good thing also. It's a bad thing, because you can't finish school on time. Another point is that you don't have enough money to support the baby. Diapers are very expensive. You are not as experienced in the world, less wise so not only less wisdom to pass on to the kids, but less wisdom on effectively raising your children. You can't enjoy your young and single life, because you have do nurture your child. On the plus side you are much more energetic than some older parents. You will be younger when they grow up and move out, giving you more freedom earlier on. You will see more of their lives before you pass on. For example, many of my friend got a child when they were still in school and

Smacking children

of. In addition some parents equate smacking with discipline although these two are not the same. Teaching is discipline, smacking is punishment. Parents who don't smack their children still discipline them. They are just using ways that don't involve pain. Moreover the law is against all kinds of physical punishments. Some parents still keep beating their children. They think that it's their own business how they raise their kids but law is for everybody. It is their own business as long as they comply with the law. In conclusion I would like to say that parents should be the ones who protect and love their children and if they don't their parental rights should be taken away. Children have right to live normal life and even their parents can't take it away from them.

Does children who have a very high IQ need special education at schools?

Some people say that children who have a very high IQ need special education at schools that are specifically designed for people like them. I couldn't agree more because usually people with very high IQ are a little bit different than people who have normal IQ. First of all, I would like to say that when kids are in elementary school and some of them are smarter and quicker than others they may be labeled as nerds and weirdos. They are also often ostracized. Another thing is that, in extremis gifted children often knows more than their teachers and are very bored. Gifted students need more than most regular schools can offer to them to improve their knowledge. On the other hand, some of them, who have very high IQ, may be very different than normal people. Some of them may have disabilities

Johnny Depp leidis tee näitlemise juurde pärast külaskäiku Los Angelesse, kus tema tollane naine Lori Anne Allison tutvustas teda näitleja Nicolas Cage'ile.
