Different trends Over the last thirty or so years British pop music has led the world in its range and quality, starting several new trends. Britain, along with the US, was the main contributor in the development of rock and roll, and Britain has provided some of the most famous bands, including The Beatles and many others. Britain was at the forefront of punk music (see below) in the 1970s with bands such as the Sex Pistols and The Clash, and the subsequent rebirth of heavy metal with bands such as Motorhead and Iron Maiden. Their mission was to keep law and order in the colony. However, a great number of the soldiers were corrupted and because there was no currency in the colony, they used rum as the means of exchange

It is a hot and dry country. The northern part has a hot tropical climate with heavy rainfall. It has two seasons - wet summer and dry winter. The south and the east of Australia have warm summers and winters. The southeastern coast gets rains all year around. The southwest area has hot, dry summers and mild moist winters. In the west and in the outback the temperature is often 35 degrees in the summer months. The outback receives almost no rainfall. Tasmania is cooler and wetter than the rest of Australia. The only places where snow falls are in the southeast and Tasmania.
