What makes a good movie? To make a good movie, the director has to succeed in many different fields. If the movie has great special effects and acting, but the story is very weak, the movie may not be as successful as a movie with moderate effects, acting and story. A good movie consists of three most important elements: story, actors and special effects. The most important part of the movie is the story. Many good movies are based on successful books and thus already have a great story as well as many fans that liked the book and will be looking forward to the movie. Other movies that are not based on any existing stories have to have a better story to be successful because they most likely won't have any real fans before the movie is released. The story can't be too long or too short. It has to have some detail but not too much as that would make the movie boring and long. Too much text and no real action or ...
What makes a good movie? There are many movies made every year but not all get a positive feedback. Some of them get very famous but some of them don't. So what kind of movies attract people to go to the cinema? It is not very simple to answer this question. Some of us like movies that are futuristic and mystical, but the others love movies that involve love, romance or even violent movies where they can see crime and investigation. I think a good movie has to be true-to-life and stunning. I especially love movies that surprise me. A superb movie has to be educative it has to let me know about something new. The best movies have professional actors. Without great actors and actresses, the movies are not so stunning. They need to make the movies seem real and original. People don't think the same way. We have different opinions, so not everyone like the movies that I enjoy watching. Nevertheless a movie has to be fas...
The Secret Life of Bees I watched the movie The Secret Life of Bees. I chose this movie because I am currently reading the book and I like the book very much. So I wanted to know if the movie is also good. The book was written by Sue Monk Kidd and the movie was a adapted version of it. As well as the book the synopsis is set in 1964 in South Carolina. The movie is mostly about a 14 year-old girl named Lily who is haunted by the memory of her late mother. And to escape the lonely and sad life that she has with her father she flees with Rosaleen and they fled to a town in South Carolina. There they start to work in the honey industry. Lily also meets Zach there. The movie was very interesting to me and a bit different form the book. I think that the casting was done great and many of the characters were exactly how I imagined them to be. The movie was really good and I would recommend it highly.
Shutter island review Shutter island is a movie written by Martin Scorsese. It is a very psychological film in my opinion and you can not take your eyes of the screen for a minute, because then you will lose track. I think Leonardo is very good in this role and these kinds of movies suit him. I did not like the movie so much because there is a lot of talking and little action in my opinion. Some of the parts were very well executed, for example the part where Teddy realises he is a patient in the hospital. The movie was good becasue you could not tell what was going to happen and the ending was unexpected, that is what is diffrent from other movies. I have once seen this film before and then iI thought it was much more boring because I was younger and could not understand the point of the film. It still is confusing and I think the film gets more logical with time or when you watch it over and over again. I would suggest is to people ...
Dear John movie review Dear John is a romantic drama. It was released on February 5, 2010. The film was directed by Lasse Hallström and it is a movie made from a book from Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. The key of the movie were love, war, loss, forgiveness. I liked the actors very much. The actors were Amanda Seyfried as Savannah and Channing Tatum as John. I liked Seyfried before I saw that movie, because she can play different roles and I believe her. She is a really good actor, not like most of the Hollywood actors. Tatum I saw acting the first time but I liked him too. They were really good together. Seyfried played a rich Southern girl who doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs and is spending her spring rebuilding houses for the poor people. Tatum plays a guy from Army who meets Savannah in the beach when Savannah lost her bag into the sea and John goes after that bag. I liked all the...
Would less TV and movie violence lead to fewer violent crimes TV and movies become more and more popular in each year. Reason why we enjoy that kind of entertainment is because of the excitement and fun it offers. There are lots of genres in movies and TV series but most watched of them is action where plenty of crime is shown. Because of the rise in crime and at the same time in action movies or series people have started worrying that these kind of movies affect people to commit more crimes. Firstly, action films/ TV series always include robberys, explosions, car chases, shooting and all the other more little crimes. Usually these movies/series have about the same plot, where there are good guys and bad guys fighting and chasing each other. Often in the end good guys somehow still capture the criminals and live happily forward. This actually shows that the good guys will always eventually capture the bad guys and criminals have no ch...

Educating Rita In my opinion "Educating Rita" was a pretty good movie and I enjoyed watching it. I think that "Educating Rita" is an educational film. In my opinion the principle of the film, is to say that learning and knowing literature can be useful, you will get smarter and more educated. The movie also says that literature is really not as uninteresting as it seems and it can be quite gripping. At the beginning of the film Rita didn't knew about literature, she knew much less than average person, but at the end, she was so fond of literature and she knew much more than average person and she was more educated than ever. Literature isn't as boring as it seems and it helps moving toward in life. "Educating Rita" was a good movie and I learned that literature has an important role in life.
Media analysis : Transamerica (2005) Transamerica is a 2005 independent dramedy produced by IFC Films and The Weinstein Company. The film tells the story of Bree, a transsexual woman (Felicity Huffman), who goes on a road trip with her long-lost son Toby (Kevin Zegers). The movie is marked by an Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning performance by Huffman, who is also known for her performance in Desperate Housewives. The character's name is Bree - which turns out to be short for Sabrina. One day Bree receives a phone call from someone asking for Stanley - her old male name. It is from a New York police station, asking if Bree will stand bail for a young man called Toby (Kevin Zegers) - taken in for prostitution - who is a son she fathered by a one-night stand 17 years ago. Bree's therapist says the surgery consents cannot be signed until she gets "closure" on this, so Bree is forced to tr...
Cinema is the most restricitve medium The topic of this essay is cinema as the most restrictive medium. I would like to discuss the restrictions of cinema as such – what these are, how do they affect the medium. For example time limit of the films, budget, how it affects writer and director, what kind of choices they have to make, and how the audience come into play. Personally, i don’t consider cinema as a restrictive medium. Cinema’s most restrictive feature is time. Filmmakers must fit very good shots edited into very good storyline into one and a half to three hour movie, usually. The reason being, we get uncomfortable sitting long period of time. If the movies would be longer, we would lose interest and start doing something else. We would simply get uncomfortable sitting on a chair and the whole cinema experience would become agony. Furthermore, producing films can be expensive, especially longer films. Al...
the Film industry at the period of US stockmarket crashing. The beginning of the 20`s was the time of Blooming and Prosperity, followed with stock market crash and the great depression in 1929. The jobs were lost because of overall industrialization and the usage of conveyering method. People who committed suicide was the highest rate ever. The rich wives of businessmen were trying to sell back their golden accesories, but the gold was no longer taken back, because it had lost its value. Still, all this had no impact on the filming industry. The Last dollars was spent on movies, no matter how poor they were. Even Big movietheatres were built. Ppl escaped the harsh reality by waching movies. The klishee like films helped ppl to stay optimistic. ,,Mickey mouse"- the cartoonfigure who pherhaps represented the rolemodel of the kind of attitude jankees wished to have. Energetic and successful, always optimistic! So, the black perio...

Comparison. Jan Guillous' " Evil". "Evil" is based on a 1981 autobiographical novel by Jan Guillou. It is about a boy called Erik Ponti who had always had violence in his life. Whether he was beat by his father or was he the one being violent to others. After problems in school, his mother decides to send him to a private school, and in order to do so, she had to sell some of her precious items. Erik understand that the private school called Stjärnsberg is his last change to get a good education and he wants to stop being violent. He goes to Stjärnsbergwith great hope and at first, its seems that he could do really well. But after a while he understand, that the school is probably the worst place where to be, when you want a peaceful life. The teachers look the other way as the older students are very brutal to younger, creating a hierarchical society based on class and age. The film was made in 2003 and dire...
Movie was well done. None too big cuts. All good quotations were present but it felt to me that in some places they were a bit too forced (crammed together). Alltogether I liked the movie and it gave away the meaning of the book pretty well. The storyteller explaines in the beginning that Harry likes to play with people. Not good. The novel has no reference to Dorian being painted with an Egyptian goddess shaped like a cat who could grant his wish, as the film has. Appears throughout the whole movie. Girls signs the painting- Glaidis, Basils niece. Dorian stole her heart. Also important in later recognising the corpse. In Wilde's original, Sybil Vane is a Shakespearean actress whom Dorian observes playing Juliet, rather than the gifted dance-hall singer seen in this film. This necessitates altering Dorian's motive for breaking up with her. In the novel, her acting has become shallow as a result of really falling in love with Dorian,...

A Movie Review of "Moliere" In 2007, a wonderful surprise "Moliere", enchanted the romantics and critics all over Europe. An historical love story, surrounded by affairs and intrigues, now retold in new colours, gained popularity amongst young and elderly, connecting those who prefer theatre, good humour and a little bit of sadness. It can be said that the play of the actors was one of the most successful challenges performed in front of the camera. They lived in the seventeenth century, talking and feeling everything as naturally as if they had been born around that time. The humour mostly gentle, sometimes cruel, described and criticised perfectly every aspect of the complicated society, the naïve King and the women who had secret love affairs. It is clear that the actors gave their best while filming the movie and got the result they may be proud of. As for more, the story itself is catching. The m...
Dissensions in Buckingham Palace The Queen movie was uninteresting at first, but when I delved into the movie it got very interesting. The Queen was about Queen Elizabeth II reaction to the death of Princess Diana. Film was based on actual events and included a lot of tragedy, emotions and sadness. Just as Tony Blair was moving into 10 Downing Street, Princess Diana died in a Paris car wreck. England went into traumatized mourning deeper than anyone could have predicted. On the contrary, the royal family -- Diana's estranged former inlaws -- offered no public reaction at all. As resentment toward the royal cold shoulder built into a monarchical crisis of public opinion, young Mr. Blair intervened with the Queen until finally the House of Windsor made a public demonstration of something like humanity. The film showed me the life of the royal family. There aren't very much positive things about...
21 Jump Street 21 Jump Street is a 2012 American comedy film directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, produced by Stephen J. Cannell, Neal H. Moritz, Johan Hill and Channing Tatum. After high school two guys join the police force and want to become a policemans. When they graduated the school, they become partners- riding bicycles in the city parks. As they looked very young, they got a mission- get the drug dealers in high school. They infiltrade to the same high school were they studyed. At the end of the film they got the drug dealers and get best friends. I think the actors did good job. Both leading characters fit perfectly to the film. Those good- looking's (Channing Tatum) and pudgy nerd's (Johan Hill) dialogues were funny and hilarious. They are very good and professionals actors, that is why the characters were played well. The locations and costumes were fine ...
Billy Elliot ,,Billy Elliot" is a movie directed by Stephen Daldry, which is amazingly touching and shouldn't be missed by anyone. When I first found out we were going to watch a film in our English class, at the beginning I was very sceptic, but after the first 15 minutes I already liked it. In fact, I ended up loving this film. This movie inspires lot's of young people to follow their dreams no matter how far they might have to reach and how difficult it might look in the beginning. The main character is this 11-year-old boy named Billy, played by Jamie Bell. His life is quite miserable as he lives in a small town with his father and an older brother. His father forces him to go boxing to continue a family tradition of boxers, but Billy is not really good at it and he doesn't like it either. Conditionals: 0 and I What is a conditional sentence? • Conditional sentences have at least two clauses: IF clauses and THEN clauses • Examples: If I go into town tomorrow, then I will see a movie. If he spoke Chinese, then he would work as a guide in China. If they had been faster, then they would have won the race. IF Clauses (the condition) • IF clauses present the condition. • Examples: If I go into town tomorrow… If he spoke Chinese… If they had been faster… THEN Clauses (the results) • THEN clauses present the results. • Examples: … then I will see a movie. …. then he would work as a guide in China. … then they would have won the race. IF and THEN Clauses • The word “then” is optional, but the clause is still the result of the condition. So it is a “THEN” clause, without the word “then.” 0 CONDITIONAL • Situations that are always true if something happens. • Instructions, rules • If I am late, my father t...

The Social Network review To begin with, I would like to prove the fact that if Facebook would be a country, then it would be the 3rd largest in the world. When I wake up in the morning I do things in a definite order. Logging in to Facebook is one of those things I do in those mornings when I have some extra time. So do many of us. If we could, we would spend hours on the world's most popular social network. But at many academic institutions and office networks Facebook has been blocked to guarantee the irrelevancy. We try to deny the importance of the site but without success. It has changed our culture in many ways, making it so modernized that some of us cannot handle it. I am quite positive, that before the movie, people did not really know the basic story of how Facebook was invented. But by now, we have searched the internet, watched the magnificent movie and bought books titled similarly and can tell many interesting facts ab...
Good and bad points of being rich and famous Many people want to become rich and famous. They want to compare themselves with movie stars, top athletes and other successful persons. The reason for this may be the media, because all the media tells to us is how good and positive is the life of riches. Being rich may be truly wonderful. No need to worry about the money. We can buy everything what we desire and travel to exotic countries. on the other hand you cannot buy such a things like love and conscience However, eveything has also it's negative sides - same for the money. With all the fame and wealth comes also big attention - paparazzis and a lot more uncomfortable. As we gain more money, the more people wants to become our friends. Another bad side in being rich and famous is that famous people doesn't often have any private life - everybody wants to know everything about you and criticize you....

Iron Man essay A superhero is a character with extraordinary powers who is dedicated to protecting the public. However, this definition can be matched with different sets of character traits. This essay discusses what makes Iron Man special and memorable. Besides literally being strong, which a superhero obviously needs to be, Iron Man aka Tony Stark was also highly intelligent. That's what actually helped him in most situations rather than mindlessly beating the opponent. Tony Stark had graduated with advanced degrees in physics and engineering at the age of 17 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. When imprisoned and forced to create a weapon of mass destuction in the movie Iron Man, Stark was able to build an armor suit and a reactor to escape. His extensive knowledge about quantum mechanics and artificial intelligence helped him to produce a new e...

Twenty-nine species of clownfish live among the reefs from East Africa to French Polynesia and from Japan to eastern Australia. Among scientists and aquarists, clownfish are also known as anemone fish because they can't survive without a host anemone, whose stinging tentacles protect them and their developing eggs from intruders. Jane Austen "Pride and prejudice" "Pride and prejudice" is a widely beloved novel because it makes people laugh and think. It was first published in 1813 and since then it has been truly loved novel for younger and older people. As well as that, the critics liked it too. So it's not only publics favourite but also smarter people love it. I think that the main reason so many like it, is because it's unpredictable and understable. In addition it's not very difficult to read. But I had to read the novel from laptop and that made my eyes hurt, so that really didn't work for me. Novel has been classified as a classic love story. That is one big reason why I loved this book. I love those classic love stories, that are just so good and make me think along. I haven't seen the movie, so that gave me free hands to imagine the story like I would like. It's not only me who can imagine the people and places in my mind, I think that's the reason to...

People's eyes are attracted to beauty and it's quite natural. We look at flowers, landscapes, pieces of art, and so on. We understand why it is beautiful. People also think of a man's/woman's appearance as of a masterpiece of nature and enjoy it as much as a landscape in the Alps. But is the essence of this beauty the same? Landscapes are parts of nature, pieces of art are created by gifted people; these objects are not alive, don't possess an intellect, so it is much easier to define the essence of it's meaning and purpose. Humans have divine gift of speech, abstract thinking and freedom of action. We can't but agree that it's very difficult to define, what is hiding behind good looks. Our mind is used to assume that beauty contains only good things. We forget that beauty can also be dangerous. This rule can be applied to some people that use their appearance to harm others for their own profit. Good looking people are called lucky and...

A Computer in my life. I can call myself a computer addict, because I spend many hours every day sitting behind the computer, most of my entertainment is connected with my computer. Like games, music, videos, movies, social networks and news. I used to have PC, but in September I bought myself a laptop. It's powerful, beautiful, it doesn't make much noise and it's quite easy to carry around. I use it to play games, study, watch movies, listen to music and the most important to connect with my friends. I rarely have problems with my computer. I'm an advanced user and I don't get viruses while surfing the net. After graduating high school, I'm thinking of buying tablet PC, because it's even more comfortable to use when you're on the move. Sometimes when I wake up early, I open my laptop, visit my webpages and then read news. After school, first thing I do, when I get home, I open...
