position of the islands in the temperate belt; the fact that the prevailing winds blow from the west and south-west and the warm current -- the Gulf Stream that flows from the Gulf of Mexico along the western shores of England. All these features make the climate more moderate, without striking difference between seasons. It is not very cold in winter and never very hot in summer. So, the British ports are ice-free and its rivers are not frozen throughout the year. The weather on the British Isles has a bad reputation. It is very changeable and fickle. The British say that there is a climate in other countries, but we have just weather. If you don't like the weather in England, just wait a few minutes. It rains very often in all seasons in Great Britain. Autumn and winter are the wettest. The sky is usually grey and cold winds blow. On the average, Britain has more than 200 rainy days a year

Wind and water have worn away and continue to wear away, unprotected sites. And the paintings and carvings are increaslibly falling victim to vandalism: they have been painted over, spoilt with knives, even used for target practice. The American Rock Art Research Association protects rock-art sites. 2) THE FAVOURITE SPORT IN BRITAIN The most popular sport is probably football. Two kinds of football is played in Great Britain. One of them, which is called association football, is played all over Europe. The other kind: rugby football is also very popular in New Zealand, France, and some other European countries. The weather is awful today! Another general rule about the use of the Indefinite and Definite Article is that the Indefinite Article is used when mentioning someone or something for the first time and the Definite Article is used when referring to someone/something that has been mentioned before. We passed a beautiful house on our way to Birmingham. – Was the house for sale? I saw a man standing near the house. The man was well-dressed and looked like a businessman. In case of plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns, in ordinary situations, when something is mentioned for the first time, some is used. We passed some beautiful houses on our way to the beach. The cold winter does not necessarily mean constant snow; in fact snowfalls are few and far between. When it falls it stays though, and there tends to be a layer of snow on the ground constantly. The deepest snow cover is usually in the south-eastern part of Estonia. Temperatures range from a summer average of 30°C to an average in winter of -8°C.The coldest month is considered to be February and the hottest July. There are about 160 to 181 rainy days a year. This changed for the better after the 1906 Summer Olympics, and the Olympic Games grew to become the most important sports event. De Coubertin stepped down from his IOC presidency after the 1924 Olympics in Paris, which proved much more successful than the first attempt in that city in 1900. He was succeeded as president by Belgian Henri de Baillet-Latour. After he had withdrawn himself from the IOC he devoted himself to pedagogical work. At the age of 69 he published his book "Olympic Memoirs" in which he said that he enterprise was more than just a sports competition. Christmas in different countrys(jõulud erinevates maades)

Christmas in Australia Christmas in Australia is often very hot. Whereas the northern hemisphere is in the middle of winter, Australians are baking in summer heat. It is not unusual to have Christmas Day well into the mid 30 degrees Celsius, or near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A traditional meal includes a turkey dinner, with ham, and pork. A flaming Christmas plum pudding is added for dessert. In the Australian gold rushes, Christmas puddings often contained a gold nugget. Today a small favor is baked inside.
