My ideal school.
My ideal school would be communication- based , blending aspects of social work , conflict resolution, team building , and traditional learning .
Classes would be limited to fifteen students , a size small enough to allow individual attention but large enough to furnish the feeling of belonging to a group.
Creative projects would be the cornerstone of the curriculum , incorporating all the life skills that make this method of education unique. The class would be presented with a number of ideas at the beginning of each project , and would also have the option of coming up with their own idea . Some examples are raising money to donate to a charity, creating an anthology of short stories to be bound and published, starting a website , writing and recording an original song , and patenting a new idea. Because of the amount of coordination required for each project, both successes and failures would inevitably spring up along the way, giving the children a meaningful experience of what

of too much reading, but because something else was lacking in the education or caregiving. Hands-on learning is another factor difficult to overrate. Imagine trying to learn to draw from listening to a lecture. You must draw, draw, draw, and with time and tutoring, will improve. This is a truism, just like saying "reading is valuable." I imagine nobody complains about children spending too much time working. If anything the contrary complaint rings loudly. What I don't begin to know is the ideal breakdown, according to age, of reading, listening to instruction, and working or hands-on time. What about technology in excess? Before the age of printing and cheap paper, comparatively few people could become learned. Now, theoretically, our electronic age makes learning easier than ever. Well, technology is indisputably better. We can store and retrieve data much more efficiently. We can communicate in a flash. But still, at the basic level, we

CHANGE YOUR THINKING CHANGE YOUR LIFE

xiv ➤ INTRODUCTION desire to live a wonderfully healthy, happy, prosperous life, when you read those words, your doubts and fears arose immediately to remind you of reasons why these dreams and goals may not be pos- sible for you. Well, join the crowd! This is exactly how I felt many years ago. Even though I wanted to be a big success in life, I was unskilled, uneducated, and unem- ployed. I had no idea what I could do to improve my situation. I felt trapped between big ideas on the one hand and limited resources and opportunities on the other. Then I discovered a series of re- markable principles that have been responsible for all the great suc- cesses and achievements of the ages, and my life changed forever. After proving these laws and principles in my own life, I began speaking, and training others to apply the same ideas. Since then, I

Essay: my ideal job

My ideal job When I graduate university, I would like to become a teacher. I want to teach Estoninan language and literature. I want to teach highschool students. I’d like to teach in my hometown, Tartu. I want to become a teacher beacause I like kids. Also, I like to teach and explain. Literature was my favourite subject in school. I like almost all books from compulsory literature. Especially I like „Master and Margarita“ and „Dorian Gray“. I think it is very important to read books, especially young people should read. Literature improves their vocabulary and changes their picture of the world and maybe teach tolerance. I’d give enough time to read every book carefully. I wouldn’t just make a test with fact-questions, I would discuss about the books with them. We would talk about the problems
