English literatutre - Authors, history

THE ANGLO-SAXON PERIOD English literature came when the Angles, the Saxons, the Jutes and the Frisians invaded Britain. During this time English was called Anglo- Saxon or Old English. author and the year of publication are inserted in the text at the appropriate point, for example: Rabbitt (1970) compared reaction times... Or In a recent study of reaction times, Rabbitt (1970) found... Or In 1970, Rabbitt compared.. These methods enable the reader to locate easily the citation in the reference list given at the end of the report. If a work has two authors, cite both names in the text every time, e.g. Smith & Jones (1974). If a work has three or more authors, give names in full when the reference is first cited and then use et al. on all subsequent occasions, e.g. Hunt et al. (1970) found.. If the abbreviation et al. leads to a confusion between two groups of authors e.g. Hunt, Hartley & Davies (1973) and Hunt, Davies and Baker (1973), then cite all the authors at every mention.

Idealization of nature in Romantic poetry

capable of helping man find inner peace and emotional clarity, it is not difficult to connect the two. In various poems, nature is seen as something divine to turn to when in need of help, sometimes even referred to as God. It seems to have limitless powers over men, being able to put ideas into their heads and take their breath away and forget about all else by showing them unimaginably beautiful sceneries. Coleridge's "To Nature" is a good example to illustrate the way romantic authors saw nature as something divine and holy. /.../ So will I build my altar in the fields, And the blue sky my fretted dome shall be, And the sweet fragrance that the wild flower yields Shall be the incense I will yield to Thee, Thee only God ! and thou shalt not despise Even me, the priest of this poor sacrifice /.../ Use of the word altar indicates that Nature is something holy, something to pray towards.

Priorities of Estonian History

01.12.14 The Priorities of Estonian Historical Research As a result of multiple nations having ruled over Estonian lands, Estonian history has been written from multiple perspectives. Often, religion, politics, and personal motives have fashioned history into what its authors wanted it to be. People have written from a multiplicity of perspectives. It should be one Estonian historical research's greatest priorities to distance itself from this, to seek after holistic, balanced accounts of the past. Early chronicles of Estonian history illustrate this diversity of perspective. Johann Renner, a Baltic German, held his own people in high esteem, deeming them the people of God. He implied this when he wrote that God would save His people from the hand of Gog

Analysis of the Journal

Authority. The journal gives an information about the risks that are associated with the food chain. This journal is peer-reviewed and has an open access. The articles are in PDF form, written in English. On top of that it is free of charge. The advantage of the webpage is that it is easy to navigate. Also, there is no advertisement included. Furthermore, the information is reliable because the EFSA is an agency of the European Union. The authors of the articles are researchers and experts from all over Europe. In my opinion, it is a good online journal to get a quick view on the most important topics of food sciences.

Novel of Manners

writer in this form Although the novel of manners has always defied easy definition, literary historians seem to have arrived at a 3. Its subject is the set of consensus on at least three elements: social conventions of a particular class in a particular time and place The novel of manners is dominated by women--as authors, as subjects, and often as intended audience For example, in Jane Austen's novels there is always "husband-hunting" by female characters. But although the focus of the novel of manners are domestic life, marrige, and social behavior Adherence to good manners in these texts is not only a reliable indicator of one's social standing, but is intended to serve as an indicator of good morals as well. Savanna

Prior to European settlement aboriginal land use practices, including fire, influenced vegetation and may have maintained and modified savanna flora. It has been suggested by many authors that aboriginal burning created a structurally more open savanna landscape. Aboriginal burning certainly created a habitat mosaic that probably increased biodiversity and changed the structure of woodlands and geographic range of numerous woodland species. It has been suggested by many authors that with the removal or alteration of traditional burning regimes many savannas are being replaced by forest and shrub thickets with little herbaceous layer. The consumption of herbage by introduced grazers in savanna woodlands has led to a reduction in the amount of fuel available for burning and resulted in fewer and cooler fires. The introduction of exotic pasture legumes has also led to a reduction in the need to burn to

President of Estonia

The President is elected by the Parliament or a special electoral body for a five-year term. The electoral body is convened in case no candidate secures a two-third-majority in Parliament after three rounds of balloting. The President can not be elected for more than two consecutive terms. History Estonia didn't have a president from 1918 to 1938. This institution was intentionally left out of the first Estonian constitution, for its authors tried to avoid the concentration of power in one person's hands by all means possible. Estonia's constitution was amended in 1933, transforming the country from a parliamentary to a presidential state. The head of state, according to the new constitution, was also called the State Elder. Konstantin Päts became the first person to bear this title. His term was to last for six years, but ended short as Estonia was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940 Konstantin Päts

One the other hand, Mowforth and Munt (2009) definition to ST is focused mainly only environmental concerns, authors do not think about society, future or does it only limited amount like with local community. This definition is rather ill defined and focuses only one small part of ST, which makes this definition practically useless when it comes to defining whole ST. Probably the best definition to ST is given by Sustainable Development of Tourism UNWTO (2011), where ST has two sides, supply and demand, yes this definition is more likely to be defined

toxicity. It is estimated that about half of heavy metal inputs to the North and Baltic Seas originate as air pollutants. Heavy metals are indestructible and do not break down. When they sink to the bottom and stay strapped there, they may become toxic to the organisms in the area and also, for people, birds and animals who eat the contaminated water organisms. Last but not least, oil and oil products are also playing a big role in marine pollution. In the authors opinion the most dramatic inputs of oil result from accidents. Aniansson points out that such incidents cause widespread damage because wind and currents carry the oil away from the scene in a short term. Oil and oil products that are not completely insoluble in water cause serious damage to birds as the become oiled, making their plumage usless as thermal insulation and causing hypothermia which leads to death.

Ivanov; novelists such as Mark Aldanov, Gaito Gazdanov and Vladimir Nabokov; and short story Nobel Prize-winning writer Ivan Bunin, continued to write in exile. Some writers dared to oppose Soviet ideology, like Nobel Prize-winning novelist Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who wrote about life in the gulag camps. The Khrushchev Thaw brought some fresh wind to literature and poetry became a mass cultural phenomenon. This "thaw" did not last long; in the 1970s, some of the most prominent authors were banned from publishing and prosecuted for their anti-Soviet sentiments. The end of the 20th century was a difficult period for Russian literature, with few distinct voices. Among the most discussed authors of this period were Victor Pelevin, who gained popularity with short stories and novels, novelist and playwright Vladimir Sorokin, and the poet Dmitri Prigov. In the 21st century, a new generation of Russian authors appeared,

Summary of three scientific articles

decline said: “With thousands of antibiotics in use globally, they have the potential to have potent effects on wildlife and ecosystems.” Research published in 2014 revealed that in the last 40 years, in freshwater habitats, where drug residues are most commonly found, the research found 75% of fish and amphibians had been lost. That shows clearly the harmful effect of the antibiotics to aquatic animals. In my opinion, the authors have succeeded with their articles. Firstly, I really liked that all of the articles had specific statistics and I appreciate it. Secondly, all the examples were apposite and points were clear. I personally find the topic very actual and the problems need even more attention. The Universe according to Douglas Adams

relative or critical importance. Thus, an SEP field could be applied to physical objects to prevent them from being acknowledged. For example, a spaceship could land on a cricket arena and begin to annihilate a throng without any issues, because everyone would just mentally block seeing it happen, since it was not their problem. Altogether, Douglas Adams has managed to portray the Universe as something both simple and explainable through everyday aspects. He is one of the few authors who appears to have as much fun writing as one has reading his works. The way he expresses himself can be described as obviously subtle. His mocking approach to society's problems will make you laugh, in spite of how grave the situation actually is.
