The Giant Eland

There are large black spots on the upper forelegs. The bridge of the nose is charcoal black, and there is a thin, indistinct tan-coloured chevron between the eyes. The lips are white, along with several dots along the jaw-line. A pendulous dewlap, larger in males then females, originates from between the jowls and hangs to the upper chest, with a fringe of hair on its edge. The tail is long, and ends with a dark tuft of hair. Both sexes have tightly spiralled horns, which are relatively straight. In males the horns form a wide "V" and can grow to 120 cm (4 ft) in length, slightly longer than on females. Ontogeny and Reproduction Gestation Period: 9 months Young per Birth: 1 Weaning: After 6 months. Sexual Maturity: Females at 15-36 months, males at 4-5 years. Life span: Up to 25 years. Primarily nocturnal, Giant Elands are highly nomadic, with large home ranges and seasonal migration patterns. During the day, herds often rest in sheltered areas

the African elephant population has dwindled to between 470,000 and 690,000 individuals because of people hunting them for their tusks. The elephant is now a protected species worldwide, also the hunting and trading of ivory has been banned to protect them. The Rhinoceros, often colloquially abbreviated rhino, lives in Africa. They eat grass and plants. Rhinoceros also have acute hearing and sense of smell, but poor eyesight. However, they are hunted for their horns. To protect them, the selling of rhino horns has been banned and their areas are guarded.

The polar bears aren't safe yet because chemicals are polluting their food stock. The ice packs in the North Pole are melting sooner in the spring, and cutting their time to hunt seals. The major cause of death for young polar bears is starvation. Musk ox It looks like a huge dust mop on hooves, their long hair reaching almost to the ground. The musk ox gets its name from the odour produced by glands beneath its eyes. The male has thick horns that almost meet on top of its head in what is called a "boss". The horns curve down besides its face and out at the ends. The female has smaller horns, without a boss. Instead the top of her head is covered with whitish hair. In the summer the musk ox herd has about 10 members. They will use the almost constant daylight to stuff themselves on plants. They need to put on enough fat to get them through the long winter. In winter the herd can have about 15 to 20 members.

Reed pipe was developed into the most popular Estonian wind instrument, the bagpipe. This instrument spread in Estonia probably already in the 14th century. The first written records date from the 16th century Bagpipes played at festivities, but also at other gatherings. Based on written records, bagpipe music was used to cheer up tired workers in the fields. o trumpet type wind instruments Herdsman's horns and trumpets were sounded in taking the cattle grazing in the morning and returning home in the evening. Another prehistoric elephant was the mastodon. It had long red fur and big tusks, but it did not have humps. Woolly mammoth and woolly mastodon were not the only animals with heavy fur. The woolly rhinoceros had thick, dark fur and long bristles. It also had two horns, one long and one short, and if attacked, the woolly rhino would charge with these sharp horns. Prehistoric man hunted the woolly mammoth and the woolly rhinoceros and they made paintings of these animals on the walls of caves. The paintings were made thousands of years ago during the Ice Age, but they are still in the caves to see today. chamfered edges and is roughly 55 meters on each side (see floor plan, right). On the long sides, a massive pishtaq, or vaulted archway, frames the iwan with a similar arch-shaped balcony. The main dome is crowned by a gilded spire or finial. The finial, made of gold until the early 1800s, is now made of bronze. The finial provides a clear example of integration of traditional Persian and Hindu decorative elements. The finial is topped by a moon, a typical Islamic motif, whose horns point heavenward. Because of its placement on the main spire, the horns of moon and finial point combine to create a trident shape, reminiscent of traditional Hindu symbols of Shiva. Construction The Taj Mahal was built on a parcel of land to the south of the walled city of Agra. An area of roughly three acres was excavated, filled with dirt to reduce seepage and leveled at 50 meters above riverbank. In the tomb area, wells were dug and filled with stone and rubble as the footings of the tomb

and entertainment and possibility to get a good-earning job, which I prefer. Also your it is a good chance that your social circle can expand here, but in country people live far from each other and don't see so often new faces like in city. The best part about living in a rural area is its quiet mood and the idea of not having to constantly breathe in exhaust fumes, not be part of traffic jams and often hear people honking the horns of their cars or speak loudly. Living in a farm, however, involves a lot of daily labour, such as feeding and cleaning animals that need constant care. In my opinion I prefer living in a city, because here I can quickly communicate with my friends, school is closer and it is handy to live in here. In general, city life is a lot more simple. To my mind, living in a country is more suitable to kind of a people, who prefers peaceful life.

Runners, mainly young men, gather at the bottom of Santo Domingo. Then, a number of fighting bulls are let out onto the streets. The bulls run along the narrow street to a bull ring. The runners dash along in front of the bulls, trying to avoid getting gored by their sharp horns. When the bulls finally reach the end of the street, they go into enclosure and are kept until that day they are killed in a bullfight. Flamenco: The Spanish culture is also closely related to the famous Flamenco style. This passionate form of dance first originated in Andalusia, is around 200 years old and was originally considered to be a gypsy dance. It is a colorful dance that is accompanied by the soulful tunes of the guitar and a song

After the Christmas evening meal, bread and milk are left out and the door unlatched as a symbol of hospitality. St Stephen's Day, the day after Christmas, is almost as important, with football matches and meetings going on. For children, the Wren Boys Procession is their big event. Boys go from door to door with a fake wren on a stick, singing, with violins, accordions, harmonicas and horns to accompany them. The reason for the ceremony is to ask for money 'for the starving wren', that is, for their own pockets. Children often put out Christmas sacks instead of stockings. It is tradition to leave mince pies and a bottle of Guinness out as a snack for Santa. "Nollaig Shona Dhuit" (NoLik Suna Ditch) means "Merry Christmas" in Irish Gaelic. Without any warning this “vicious circle” of thought is cut off by a serene passage, first by horns(pp) and then the same phrase by woodwind and strings. Contentment and bliss is finally achieved, so long searched and waited for. The third movement (Allegro giocoso), is Scherzo-like, a theme for violins consisting of 15 bars. As a fugato theme it seems somewhat stretched out. The fourth and fifth intervals become essential in the further melodic and harmonic texture. A section from the beginning: Example 66.

According to the findings of a study done in the San Francisco Bay area, own- ers of prestige autos receive a special kind of deference from others. The experi- menters discovered that motorists would wait significantly longer before honking their horns at a new, luxury car stopped in front of a green traffic light than at an older, economy model. The motorists had little patience with the economy-car dri- ver: Nearly all sounded their horns, and the majority of these did so more than once; two simply rammed into the rear bumper. puzzles are still bristling as insistently as ever, it also seems that DR is pretty well refuted. This is a dilemma, or rather trilemma, because it further appears that we are stuck with one of those three possibilities: either the names are Millian, or they abbreviate descriptions outright, or in some looser way such as Searle's they have some substantive "sense" or content. But none of these views is acceptable. A few theorists have claimed to find ways between the three horns. As noted in chapter 3, Plantinga (1978) and Ackerman (1979) have appealed to rigidified descriptions, such as "the actual winner of the 1968 election" as opposed to just "the winner of the 1968 election"; the former description is rigid, because "the actual winner" means the winner in this (our) world, and refers to that same person at any other world regardless of whether he won there. On this view, names are rigid though they are not Millian. (See also Jackson 1998
