Owning was made easier by government policies which offered people various kinds of financial assistance to help them do so. There are organizations which run their properties like a business but are obliged to run them for social benefit. Homelessness Number s of people who have nowhere to live vary, but at the present time they probably stand between a quarter and a half million. All reasons amout to the simple fact that there isnt enough affordable accommodation for them. Most homeless families find temporary accomodation in boarding houses. Some people find even more temporary shelter in hostels for the homeless. Some just live on the streets. In many cases, the homeless are those with personal problems which make it difficult for them to settle down. In some cases, they are peple who simply dont want to settle down. The future More an more people want to live on their own or in small families. Millions of new homes will need to be built in the next decade or so.

Education Education is so multifaceted that it is difficult for me to know where to begin discussing it, or how to prioritize the many factors. Relaying my own experience is easy: I had a standard classroom approach, supplemented by inordinate reading. In only the briefest and least memorable instances did I receive any individual tutoring. Education is commonly thought of as the job of schools. Adults cry "educate our children!" Everyone has opinions about the best way to do the job. It is of urgent importance, and all the numerous factors are much studied, debated, and new (or old) ideas continually tested or retested. Some people say "it's as simple as . . . " and then name their pet peeve or passion. My view is not of an education specialist, but of one who loves sharing what I learn, and owes much to educators. For most British people having their own garden is a must. Smaller houses usually have both a front and back garden with a neat lawn and flowerbeds. It is not unusual for an Englishman’s garden to cover only 3 or 4 sq m in front of the house. It is also possible to grow flowers and vegetables on an allotment – a piece of land rented for a low price from the local council. Another alternative is flower-boxes, attached to the windows or hanging flower-pots. Britain has many homeless people (280,000 as of 2019) who have to or choose to sleep outdoors or in temporary hostels. They also have their own magazine, the Big Issue, which talks about the problems of living in the streets. The Big Issue magazine currently sells over 83,000 copies in the UK every week. Vendors buy The Big Issue magazine for £1.25 and sell it for £2.50, meaning each seller is a micro-entrepreneur who is working, not begging
