Emergency situatsions
in case of fire
  • In the case of a small fire , a fire extinguisher can be used. However , you must already know how to use one, to be effective and timely enough for it to count . Keep yours in your kitchen , near enough to get to it quick , but not too close to the fire to reach it. Check it regurally to insure it would work properly if needed.

  • In the event of a larger fire, announce “FIRE!” loudly to everyone and gather all the people immediately and ask them to go out of the house via the nearest safe door or window. Do not re-enter the home!

  • If you are inside and don’t know if there is fire on the other side of a door, test the door before you open it. To do this, kneel down to stay under the smoke levels. Reach up around half way up the door, and touch the door with the back of your hand . If there's a fire on the other side, it will feel warm on the knob and around the cracks. Do not touch the handle or other parts of the door with your palm, as you may burn your hands . If the door is warm, try another escape route.

  • Take the kids and go straight to a neighbor's house and call 112 from there, or use your phone.

kind of unmet expectation. "Which one is the boy with the reddish brown hair?" I asked. I peeked at him from the corner of my eye, and he was still staring at me, but not gawking like the other students had today -- he had a slightly frustrated expression. I looked down again. "That's Edward. He's gorgeous, of course, but don't waste your time. He doesn't date. Apparently none of the girls here are good-looking enough for him." She sniffed, a clear case of sour grapes. I wondered when he'd turned her down. I bit my lip to hide my smile. Then I glanced at him again. His face was turned away, but I thought his cheek appeared lifted, as if he were smiling, too. After a few more minutes, the four of them left the table together. They all were noticeably graceful -- even the big, brawny one. It was unsettling to watch. The one named Edward didn't look at me again.

hard. There was just so much to see and experience. The sensory input was astonishing-the smell of vehicle exhaust mixed with food from vendor carts, the shouts of hawkers blended with music from street entertainers, the awe-inspiring range of faces and styles and accents, the gorgeous architectural wonders...And the cars. Jesus Christ. The frenetic flow of tightly packed cars was unlike anything I'd ever seen anywhere. There was always an ambulance, patrol car, or fire engine trying to part the flood of yellow taxis with the electronic wail of ear-splitting sirens. I was in awe of the lumbering garbage trucks that navigated tiny one-way streets and the package delivery drivers who braved the bumper-to-bumper traffic while facing rigid deadlines. Real New Yorkers cruised right through it all, their love for the city as comfortable and familiar as a favorite pair of shoes. They didn't view the steam billowing from potholes and vents in

HOUSE AND HOME tööleht

But today the number of new homes built soars to an 11 year high. Over 170,000 new homes were built in 2019. However, three million new council homes must be built in England over 20 years to solve the "housing crisis". Finding cheap housing for rent is a real problem for the poor and unemployed. Huge increase in house prices have placed additional pressure on the renting sector as young people simply cannot afford to buy. In any case, flats are generally not very popular with the British, especially compared to the rest of Europe, though they are acceptable to many people in the centre of big cities. People prefer housing in the suburbs, and a garden of any size is considered essential. There is a growing tendency to move away from the hustle and noise of big cities, and large areas in the countryside are now being swallowed up by ‘urban sprawl’. The saying ‘An Englishman’s home is his castle’ is

A lamb to the slaughter

Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl (1916-1990) The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight - hers and the one by the empty chair opposite. On the sideboard behind her, two tall glasses, soda water, whiskey. Fresh ice cubes in the Thermos bucket. Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come him (correction: home) from work. Now and again she would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come. There was a slow smiling air about her, and about everything she did. The drop of a head as she bent over her sewing was curiously tranquil. Her skin - for this was her sixth month with child - had acquired a wonderful translucent quality, the mouth was soft, and the eyes, with their new placid look, seemed larger darker than before. When the clock said ten minutes to five, she began to listen, and a few moments later, punctually as always, she hear

TARTUFFE (inglise keelne)

Hussy! I'll warm your ears in proper shape! March, trollop, march! SCENE II CLEANTE, DORINE CLEANTE I won't escort her down, For fear she might fall foul of me again; The good old lady . . . DORINE Bless us! What a pity She shouldn't hear the way you speak of her! She'd surely tell you you're too "good" by half, And that she's not so "old" as all that, neither! CLEANTE How she got angry with us all for nothing! And how she seems possessed with her Tartuffe! DORINE Her case is nothing, though, beside her son's! To see him, you would say he's ten times worse! His conduct in our late unpleasantness [1] Had won him much esteem, and proved his courage In service of his king; but now he's like A man besotted, since he's been so taken With this Tartuffe. He calls him brother, loves him A hundred times as much as mother, son, Daughter, and wife. He tells him all his secrets And lets him guide his acts, and rule his conscience. He fondles and embraces him; a sweetheart
