thousands of insects that attract many migrating birds. Animals are adapted to handle cold winters and to breed and raise young quickly in the very short and cool summers. Some animals have grown thick fur that turns white in the winter. Others find a place to hibernate during the winter months. Many plants have dark red leaves that allow the plant to absorb more heat from the sun in the cold tundra climate. All of the plants are adapted to sweeping winds and disturbances of the soil. Many plants grow in a low, tight clump - this growth habit helps protect them from the cold and snow. They can carry out photosynthesis at low temperatures and low light intensities. The growing season is short and most plants reproduce by budding and division rather than sexually by flowering. There are no deep root systems in the vegetation of the tundra; however, there are a wide variety of plants that are able to resist the cold climate. The fauna is also diverse

Are young people living in Estonia patriots of their homeland?

When speaking of patriotism, already The Constitution of Estonian Rebublic states that the main aim of our country is to assure that our nation, language and culture will be preserved. Many people have argued whether young Estonians are patriots of their homeland or not and there have been many different answers to that question. One the one hand, young Estonians are very supportive and helpful when there is a crisis situation in our country. For example, in case of the disturbances in April 2007, young men where ready to go as voluntaires to protect our country. Also, more an more young people are interested in taking part in the Song and Dance Festivals. Where they can wear our national clothes, sing our national songs and dance our national dances. And they do it with pleasure and proudness. Everyone who has been there, including me, know how every song and dance makes you feel more Estonian and what an overpowering feeling of unity it gives. certainly perceived themselves to be so,” the researcher said.  There is no real explanation however, for why animals can change people in various ways. Elizabeth Ormerod, who is spearheading a campaign to introduce pets into a Scottish prison, has watched the effect of animals on prisoners. "Animals help to dispel tension,” she says. The Scottish prisons that have some involvement with animals report fewer disturbances as well as better relationships between staff and prisoners. "Caring for a pet encourages compassion and reverence for life," says Ormerod. "You could call it humane education.”

? The source of the magnetic flux of the motor is DC or permanent magnet. The most suitable for the speed control is synchronous servo motor. Efficiency of the electrical drive is the power ratio of load to supply. Electromagnetic efficiency is measured in tesla. One of the first eletrical motors has been built by Jacobi. The best electrical drive has efficiency very high. Who studied electromagnetic field? Lomonosov/Gilbert/Coulomb/Oersted?? What kinds of disturbances affect the electrical drive behavior? The current is the motor response, not the disturbance. The external disturbances are the supply voltage and the counter-torque. Which components comprise the electrical drive? Which of them are mandatory and which are optional? The mains and the actuator (driven machine) are not the drive components. The drive includes, by all means, the motor and controller, and may additionally incorporate the power converter and gear. Test II

How common is bullying? Toronto's Board of Education has documented that in grades 4 to 8, one child in five was victimized periodically, while one in 12 was bullied weekly or daily. How can you tell if your child is being bullied? Most schoolchildren won't tell you, often because they are afraid of reprisals. But certain symptoms should make you suspicious. These include unexplained reluctance to go to school; fearfulness or unusual anxiety; sleep disturbances and nightmares; vague physical complaints (headaches, stomachaches), especially on school days; or belongings that come home ripped or are missing altogether. If you suspect your child may be a victim, it's best not to ask the question outright. Dr. Sarah Shea, director of the Child Development Clinic at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, suggests: "Ask your child indirectly how he or she is spending lunch hour; or what it's like walking to school, walking home or taking the school bus

Stress is a part of most peoples' everyday life. Some stress is useful, some not. The body is equipped to respond to emergencies but if the stress goes on for a long time, the body can become unbalanced with lots of signs of ill health, such as headaches, digestive problems, emotional disturbances and so on. Other lifestyle habits are often as a result of stress, such as drinking alcohol and smoking. Also, eating an unbalanced diet and not getting enough exercise can cause weight gain and poor health. Having a balanced diet mainlyof unprocessed starchy and high fibre foods, fruit and vegetables, some meats, milk and milk products and a small amount of food and drinks containing fat and sugar will help mainain a healthy weight and may

In general, communities in early succession will be dominated by fast- growing, well-dispersed species (opportunist, fugitive, or r-selected life-histories). As succession proceeds, these species will tend to be replaced by more competitive (k-selected) species. 39. Miks suktsessioon peatub? According to classical ecological theory, succession stops when the sere has arrived at an equilibrium or steady state with the physical and biotic environment. Barring major disturbances, it will persist indefinitely. This end point of succession is called climax. 40. Millised muutused toimuvad ökosüsteemide produktsioonis, hingamise intensiivsuses ja biomassi akumuleerumises suktsessiooni käigus? Suureneb biomass ja hingamine, väheneb produktiivsus. Suureneb liigiline mitmekesisus (erinev sekundaarse ja primaarse suktsessiooni korral) Muutub erinevate strateegiatüüpide esindatus Mullateke 41

There were also two pillories the big and the small one in the square. The culprits and those who were sentenced to death were brought to the pillory. The small pillory (for smaller criminals) was fixed to the wall of the Town Hall. Both pillories were used when people were birched. The punishment was carried out by the hangman and his assistants and was considered a great shame and dishonour. The pillories were still in use in the 19th century. 72 peasants who had taken part in the disturbances of Kose-Uuemõisa in 1806, were birched in the small pillory (a number of them were later sent to Siberia). A round stone slab in the square signifies the place of the pillory. Town Hall Square was not a place of execution, but there was one exception. At the end of the 17th century a priest, being drunk in a pub, had killed the maid in anger. After that he went to the Town Hall and confessed to the crime. Usually murderers were hanged on the Gallows Hill, but he was

drives housed in a custom-made terminal box. This solution is designed for reduced power assemblies ( few kW). The speed control cannot be a regulator at the same time. This is an aged system where control principle is developed on the basis of the electrical characteristics of motor, using power amplification but without a feedback loop and is described as ,,open loop". The speed of the motor is defined by an input value, it may vary depending on disturbances (load, temperature, supply voltage). The speed range is defined in relation to nominal speed. A Speed regulator is a controlled drive. It features a control system with power amplification and a feedback loop and is described as ,,closed loop". The speed of the motor is defined by a reference value. That value is continiously compared with a feedback signal, which is an image of the motor speed. This signal is supplied either by a

REPUBLIC AND TURMOIL On 1 February 1908, the king Dom Carlos I of Portugal and his heir apparent, Prince Royal Dom Luís Filipe, Duke of Braganza, were murdered in Lisbon. Under his rule, Portugal had twice been declared bankrupt on 14 June 1892, and again on 10 May 1902 causing social turmoil, economic disturbances, protests, revolts and criticism of the monarchy. Manuel II of Portugal become the new king, but was eventually overthrown by the 5 October 1910 revolution, which abolished the regime and instated republicanism in Portugal. Political instability and economic weaknesses were fertile ground for chaos and unrest during the Portuguese First Republic. These conditions would lead to the failed Monarchy of the North,
