Should smart devices be banned in the classroom? Now days smart phones are inseparable part our lives, we can see them everywhere. Students have them all over the world. The disadvantages of banning smart devices are several. Cellphones can be very useful if used for the right purposes. When smart devices are banned then students can’t use their smart phones for looking up information, or knowing what homework is and can’t use them for dictionaries or calculators. The advantages of banning smart devices are more than advantages. When tabs, smart phones or computers are banned then also students could not cheat on a test by looking for information on the Internet and they could not get distracted on their devices by being socially active by texting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or playing games.
In the nowadays world, we are living in the era of advanced technology. Almost every activity that we do in our daily life is somehow connected with technology usage. It plays a major role not only in our lives, but also helped in development of various industries, changed education, entertainment. We can not measure this process and it`s impact on society, but one thing we can say for sure – technology has become part of pupils lives. There are so many advantages connected with technology and how it affected our everyday life. To start with, development of mobile technology, computers and internet made life easier. We can find information in sites like Google in a couple of minutes instead of looking for required information in books for hours. In the older times, writing a letter, sending and bringing to a required person took minimum a month; now this procedure happens within a minute, if people communicate using social networks
Computers - indispensable part of our life Computers have become a major part of our lives today. UNIVERSITY OF TARTU DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Using Blogs as a Platform in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language Research paper Tartu 2010 ABSTRACT This work analyses the usefulness of blogging in teaching English as a foreign language. The definition of the term `blog' is provided along with the advantages and disadvantages of blogs' usage in practice. The analysis of language skills developed by students throughout the use of blogs for learning purposes is given in the paper with possible limitations that blogs have. Author of this paper also shares personal comments about the experience in the field. In this paper it is also described which research methods are planned to be employed for the conduction of research project.
Mobile phones and their use This report was commisioned by Mr. Rodgers and examined mobiles phones and their uses. The survey considered the brands, costs, how the phones were acquired, and the main uses of each phone. The survey was carried out among students in the eleventh-grade class. In the eleventh-grade class, everyone has a mobile phone. Moreover nearly all of them are smart phones. According to the survey, there are five different brands of phones that are used by students. Samsung and Sony Ericsson, with four users, is in the lead. Most of the phones cost more than 100 euros. However, three owners got their phones for free. The average cost of a cell phone is 195 euros. Eight out of thirteen students bought their phone themselves. Furthermore, five students acquired their phones as presents. The effects of mobile phones on our lives Can you imagine our comfortable life without mobile phones? Wherever we go, we can see someone talking with their mobile phone. Mobile phones have become an indispensable part of our everyday life. Yet, have the changes they brought about really been for the better? To begin with, the benefits of mobile phones cannot be denied. On the one hand mobile phones are extremely useful communication tool. Mobile phones can help us wherever we need it.
