How genre and narrative makes meaning in ``The Black Dahlia`` When analyzing a film, people understand the movie is much more complicated than it seems. To make a difference, to give a meaning to the film, film-makers have used different visual and thematic features. There are macro features (genre, narrative) as well as micro features (mise en scene, cinematography) and they are linked together in many ways. I have chosen to analyse the closing sequence of ``The Black Dahlia``, directed by Brian de Palma, and I will focus on macro features in this essay. Brian de Palma is well known director, who is focused on noir area through his career (he was once considered as a Hitchcock imitator) ``The Black Dahlia" can be classified as Film Noir. The genre is called Film Noir due to the `serie noir` books, which were publised in France (bethween 1940s and 1950s). These books were transl...

Due to rapid metabolism to formate, little, if any, intact formaldehyde can be found in the blood of humans or animals exposed to formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is also readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and meets with the same metabolic fate as formaldehyde after inhalation exposure. The studies available in the open literature suggest that very little formaldehyde is absorbed via the dermal route. In all cases, absorption appears to be limited to cell layers immediately adjacent to the point of contact. Entry of formaldehyde into the blood (i.e., systemic absorption) occurs to a very limited extent, if at all. ENVIRONMENTAL FATE In reviewing the fate of formaldehyde in the environment, it should be noted that the environmental
want to charge my batteries i take a trip to smaller city and my hometown called Rakvere. Itmight be little, but it has it´s own way to fancy people. For example our city is known for a running event-,,Night run" where for 2 years i have been a volunteer to encourage and help people who have come together to Rakvere for one goal-to run a distance and share good emotions. I have attended primary school in a school what is near to Rakvere, in an english KALLAK class. I furthered my studies at Rakvere Vocational school for the next 2 years. That is also the start of my cookery studies what i continued in Tartu Vocational Education Centre. For now, i have finished my high school studies, but my cookery qualification studies are still going on. These amazing years, what i have spent in a world of excellence in cookery are memorable. Probably the highlight for my studies was the opportunity what i found myself trough the Internet, during my 2 year studies

Options after secondary school Im going to talk about different choices after secondary school. Firstly, a lot of students after graduating secondary school want to study more. There are two ways to continue your studies. The first choice is to continue the academic education in universities. It is the best way to educate yourself and later after graduation there will be some jobs with quite big salaries. The other way to continue your studies is to get vocational education. 05.2012 Many students nowadays prefer to have a job while studying or the other way around study while having a job. All that, just to support their hobbies/studies, gain experience or just to earn a bit more money. While there are many benefits, there is no good without the bad. Having a job especially while you are studying is great responsibility for a human being. It is difficult to keep both your job and studies up. Although there are good points, like earning money to support yourself, gaining work or life experience, learning more about how the world works something, that schools usually do not teach. Being practical with your time comes in handy while trying to work and study at the same time. If one can manage to do that, it will benefit your greatly in many ways. Some people just cannot keep that up, but if one would think
exam. The teaching is structured by subject: French, mathematics, history-geography, 'civics' or civil education, biology and earth sciences, technology, art, music, PE, physics-chemistry. The objectives are fixed by national programmes. After the 'collège', pupils continue their education in a general and technological 'lycée' or a professional 'lycée'. The latter enables them to acquire a professional diploma in order to pursue further vocational studies or integrate the workplace. Links between the professional and the general and technological study programmes and between the C.A.P. (Certificate of Professional Aptitude) and the professional baccalaureate are facilitated. The C.A.P. gives access to manual worker or qualified employee jobs and aims to provide direct access into the world of work. Pupils can also take a 2-year course of studies towards a professional qualification called a B.E.P

1) Behavior can be innate, because it is genetically based. Evolution may play a key role in behavior. 2) Animals may be studied as a means of understanding human behavior. 3) There are biological correlates of behavior. Cognitions, emotions and behaviors are products of the anatomy and physiology of our nervous and endocrine system. Explain how principles of the biological level of analysis may be demonstrated in research. 1) Correlational studies: Study by Buss, who hypothesized that across cultures, men will prefer to marry younger women because of greater reproductive capacity and women will place greater value on a potential mate's earning potential to provide survival advantages. This evolutionary hypothesis was tested in 37 cultures by sending out questioners. 2) Twin studies (type of correlational studies) compare trait similarities in
Choices after secondary school There are lots of choices after secondary school. The main question is, which is better to do - to work or go to university. Both options give many advantages. Firstly, many young people couldn't choose the subject that they are likely to learn. Working can show if there are any of professions you're good at, as it will improve your interest in certain occupations. On the other hand, it is better not to let years between studies. Researches have shown that students, who have worked for few years after secondary school, can't concentrate on their lessons as much as those whose first choice was university. Thirdly, novadays students more often are facing financial problems. Lots of them are thinking that it is useful to work abroad in order to pay fees at university. Also, working in foreign countries is an advantage to improve your language skills.

He finished his university studies, eventually getting a Ph.D. in physics at Colorado State University before he was 15. In 1974, during his university studies, he began his research work at NASA and continued this work until his return to Korea in 1978 where he received a doctorate in engineering. Kim was offered the chance to study at the most prestigious universities in Korea, but instead chose to attend a provincial university.
Russian 2nd year translation. Prose. The Childhood of Mikhail Lomonosov The great Russian scholar Mikhail Vasil'evich Lomonosov was born in the beginning of the eighteenth century in a little village near the White Sea. His father was a fisherman and he often took his son with him when he went fishing. When Lomonosov was a little boy he wanted to study. This was difficult because books were rare and expensive and because there was no school in the village. However, the village priest taught Lomonosov to read and write. After that, Mikhail Lomonosov began to look for books. One man in the village had an arithmetic book. When Lomonosov saw this book, he ased the man to give it to him. He read it so often that soon he knew it by heart. He managed to get more books from his friends and spent many days reading them. Lomonosov was already nineteen years old when he decided to go to school. Though he already knew much, he needed the help of e...

The lessons would take place in an old manor, where doors opening and closing by themselves wouldn't be anything unique. The classes would be small, but cosy and warm. We'd have a huge library with hundreds of old books. There would be a huge section only for romantic novels and books about love stories. The lessons would start at 9am. In my ideal school I'd have to study the average level of general subjects. There would also be certain amount of specialty studies, which I could be able to choose for myself. There wouldn't be too much homework, because the students would manage to finish their tasks in class. After the lessons students could go on free bus trips to anywhere in Estonia. They could visit different museums and churches or just see the beauty of our nature. That would be a great get-away from our everyday life! Let's not forget about the rules! In my ideal school the most important rule would be very simple keep calm and quiet
There is some medical evidence to support the existence of actual addiction to chocolate. However, the term is mostly used loosely or humorously to describe a person who is inordinately fond of chocolate. The chocolate addiction happens mostly with women because they eat more emotionally than men. Why do people get addicted to it The essential components of addiction are intense craving for something, loss of control over the use of it, and continued use despite negative consequences. Studies have shown that people can exhibit all three of these components in relation to food, particularly food that contains sugar or fat. Since chocolate contains both, it is often used in studies of food addiction. Why it's bad Eating too much chocolate is bad because it's not healthy food it's bad for you teeth you will get fat How can you break it To stop your chocolate addiction you have to convince yourself to eat less. The Advantages and Disadvanatges of Having a Part-Time Job During Studies. Many students work while attending school for many different reasons. It can be difficult to balance work and school, but it can certainly be done. Actually, there are many advantages such as earning money,a new experience and development of the organization skills. However, you should take into account some disadvantages, for instance, the lack of time and stress. Generally speaking, students can benefit a lot from part-time jobs. The first advantage is that students can earn money
Disadvantages and advantages of using smart-phones in a lesson Nowadays a lot of schools give a permission to use smart-phones in lessons for searching information, looking up new words or doing excercises. Therefore, it could raise many difficulties for students using smart-phones in a lesson. One of the advantages of using smart-phones in studies is that they are more effective. For instance, students do not have to waste time anymore for looking up new words from books like in the old times. Now, they can simply enter a word and get it, or when they have to read a excercise or a story, then they can access to it very fast. Also, nowadays society is accustomed to use smart-phones and it is easier to them remember new words or important information. Therefore, smart-phones have advantage to make one a better learner and do things faster.

disadvantage, in addition there are also long term effects such as an increased risk of developing alcoholism, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, and cancer. Damage to the central and peripheral nervous system is a result of sustained alcohol consumption. On the other hand research has found a correlation between light consumption in other words- one or two alcoholic beverages per day- and reduced risk of heart disease as well as reduction in all-cause mortality. However, some recent studies found that moderate consumption of alcohol did not decrease heart disease and that the positive effects may be due to methodological flaws in research studies. Despite the small number of benefits of alcohol they are still greatly overweighed by the large amount of negative effects on health. For example increased risk of liver diseases, cancer and pancreatitis. Nevertheless conversely moderate intake of alcohol may have some benefitial effects on gastritis
Computers have become a major part of our lives today. We use them for tests, entertainment, organization, studying, etc. They are a vital essential in the world we live in. Without them the world would fall apart. It is impossible to imagine how people functioned in the old days when computers did not exist. Computers have become almost as smart as us. We use our computers daily. After a long day in school, we usually turn on our computers and use them for learning and studies. Computers provide a big variety of information which is available for us to search. And all the information is gathered in Internet. Internet is everyone's door to the world and to the vast knowledge of everything. Computers have significant advantages over people in a few select areas. They can store huge amounts of information that they will never forget, they can organize and retrieve that information very quickly, and they can do very complex calculations very quickly.
Summary • Early history of translation studies – Cicero and St. Jerome (what did they do/how/why are they relevant to translation studies?) St. Jerome – Greek scholar, did some translation work. Lived during the 4th century. Jerome is best known as the translator of the Bible into Latin. A previous version (now called the Old Latin) existed, but Jerome's version far surpassed it in scholarship and in literary quality. Jerome was well versed in classical Latin (as well as Greek and Hebrew), but deliberately translated the Bible into the style of Latin that was actually
Sheep senses and social cognition Sheep generally are held in low regard as far as cognition and social skills are concerned. However there is now interesting evidence from studies of their behaviour and brain function that they have highly sophisticated social and emotional recognition skills using faces, voices and smell. They are able to recognize and remember many diferent sheep and humans for several years or more and appear to have some capacity for forming mental images of the faces of absent individuals. The precence of such social cognition abilities in this species means that we must pay careful attention to welfare factors such as the composition and
However, students in Britain and Estonia finish secondary school at the same age because secondary school lasts 5 years in Britain instead of 3 like it is in Estonia. Altogether, compulsory school in Britain lasts 11 years which is 2 years more than in Estonia. Moreover, there are slight differences as for the compulsory subjects taught in the first three years of secondary school in Britain and Estonia. In Britain, more emphasis is placed on Religious Studies, including Christianity and other religions, Drama and Information Technology. While in the first half of secondary school all pupils must study the same subjects, in the second half of secondary level and especially in the Sixth Form, more options are available for the British students when compared to students in Estonia. In the Sixth Form, they only have to choose 3 compulsory subjects with a vast range of extra subjects

Analüüsi käigus seletan lahti feministliku diskursuse keelemärgid, mis tavalugejale võivad jääda lisa kommentaarideta ebaselgeks. Analüüsimiseks olen võtnud artikli ,,Gender and The Metaphorics of Translation" Lawrence Venuti tõlketeooriate kogumikust ,,Translation Studies Reader" (Chamberlain 2004: 306319).
The biggest positive thing about training is that your body looks good. You feel more comfortable in it when you know you've worked very hard to get it. Another good thing about training every day is that you feel more energized. Usually you wake up in the morning and feel very tired, but when you go on a daily run, it wakes you up and you feel a lot better during the day. Some people think that it is bad for your health to train daily, but I disagree. Studies have shown that people who train are more healthy and they don't get ill as often as other people. There might be few negative things when you train each day, but it's usually because people get too into it. You shouldn't train so hard that you overwhelm your body. It doesn't get you bigger muscle or burn more fat. The other thing that people might do is that they start at early age which might stop you from growing taller.
Figure 1. A process model of emotion regulation (Gross, 2001). Emotion regulation in relation.. 9 Much of ER is measured by self-reports, although some current research in to ER has used physiological measurements such as blood pressure in emotion suppression (Butler et al., 2002) and repression (Giese-Davis et al., 2007) where elevated blood pressure has been observed. Additionally, some functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies have shown amygdala activity in accordance with the goal (Schaefer et al., 2002; Ochsner et al., 2002, 2004b). This suggests that whichever particular prefrontal system regulates the amygdala depends on the strategy and the goal. Yet again, these studies are intentional responsive studies, showing the physiological- neurological difference in functions when intentionally regulating emotions. Only recently researchers have started to apply knowledge to automatic

Regarding the laboratory works, I tend to distribute work so that I was comfortable to work and to my partner. It should be noted that studies is not my only fascination. I am interested in creating things with my own hands. I design invitation cards and ornaments made of plasticine, but alsolove drawing (especially portraits). My interests taught me how to concentrate on work, do work in time and qualitatively. I believe that my self-confidence, resolution and versatility will be essential components for getting higher education at your University. The lecturer believes that the amount of authority and respect the Chinese language teachers receive from overseas students in China is related to the purpose of teaching. In China, the Chinese language studies often hold more importance for the students, since most of them have come to China from poorer countries in Asia hoping to earn more money and have a better life in China than they would in their own countries. To be able to become successful in China they need the Chinese language skills and consequently respect the teachers who can make a great difference in their lives by teaching them the necessary vocabulary. student magazine. I would like to be considered for the position in a summer camp. I would also like to ask few questions concerning the position. I believe I am suitable for the job because I have had previous experiences. For example, I have been organising different music and sport events. I also speak fluent English, I am hard-working, I have good knowledge of different games and entertainments, I like working with children. It would be good practise for my following studies. I have a few questions concerning the job. I would like to know where the camp would be located, when exactly it is taking place, and is the accommodation included. I was also wondering, what my salary will be. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to your reply. Yours sincerely, Mart Mets.

501 S Sapodilla Ave West Palm Beach FL 33401 Dear Sir/Madam, 14 May 2012 I am writing to ask you more about your school in America because I would like to become an exchange student there for a year. I am a 17-year-old girl from Estonia, cheerful, kind and hard-working. I love literature and arts; however, learning new ideas and cultures has always been my secret passion. There are many places I have been to and even more yet awaiting to be explored. I would like to know more about the location of your school, strengths and major subjects. Are there any accommodation possibilities such as staying with host families? It would be interesting to try it at least once in a lifetime. And one more question about the fees is there any extra pay for studies, books, uniform, etc? I look forward to your letter. Sincerely, [eesnimi perekonnanimi]
