In London you'll also find Indonesian, Mexican, Greek... Cynics will say that this is because English have no "cuisine" themselves, but this is not quite the true. Vocabulary: to criticize - tasteless overcooked - ingredient - to invent - sauces - to disguise - spice herb - delicious - disappointing - to lend cuisine British Youth (2) Most 18 and 19 year-olds in Britain are quite independent people. English people say that children grow up more quickly now. Relationships within the British family are different now. Children have more freedom to make their own decisions. For example, children aged 13 may be employed part time in Great Britain. Age 15 is legally a "young person" not a "child". Age 16 is a school leaving age. They can leave home, drive a moped, marry with "parents' consent" buy beer. Age 17 can drive a car. Age 18 can vote, get married, drink in pubs.

Education

Education Education is so multifaceted that it is difficult for me to know where to begin discussing it, or how to prioritize the many factors. Relaying my own experience is easy: I had a standard classroom approach, supplemented by inordinate reading. In only the briefest and least memorable instances did I receive any individual tutoring. Education is commonly thought of as the job of schools. Adults cry "educate our children!" Everyone has opinions about the best way to do the job. It is of urgent importance, and all the numerous factors are much studied, debated, and new (or old) ideas continually tested or retested. Some people say "it's as simple as . . . " and then name their pet peeve or passion. My view is not of an education specialist, but of one who loves sharing what I learn, and owes much to educators. Since I don't have an educational theory neatly worked-out, nor an outline

LOVE is when you lust for what's inside. · There are three kinds of bones everyone should have: a funny bone, a backbone and a WISHbone. · I didn't fall in love with you on the first sight; I fall in love with you over and over again on every sight. · Mostly, the person that you hurt the most is the person who loves you the most. · Life is a best friend when you get what you want, and life is a teacher when you don't. · There's always an eye to see each beauty, an ear to hear each truth and a heart to feel each love. · Think before u speak, because once the words are spoken and hit the heart, u CANNOT take them back! · An EX could give you an EXample what hurt is and a friEND could make it END · Life is like math: there's always another way to solve the problem. · Mean it when you say 'I love you', you don't know how it will hurt those people you tell, if you don't mean it.

Truancy in school – individual responsibility

Truancy in school individual responsibility Hello ladies and gentlemen, today I am here to talk to you about truancy in school and why is it an individual responsibility. Truancy in school is a very serious problem nowadays. Unfortunately many students have lost their motivation to study. According to the BBC 400,000 children were persistently absent from England's schools in the past year and missed about one month of school each. The effect that poor attendance at school can have on a child's education can be permanent and damaging but skipping should be child's own responsibility and it is not right to punish the parents for it. Students have many reasons why they are skipping school, mostly they do not like the teachers or the subjects that they are taught. They tend think that they won't need

Philip Larkin poetry analysis

In my opinion he is talking about USA, which is beginning to creep up on England or on Europe. And because of that England is becoming a less dominant and more isolated place. He is saying that intimacy is dying and that may represent the globalization. Another political poem I really enjoyed is ´´Homage To a Government´´. Larkin says that next year they are going to bring all the soldiers home, because they (citizens) want the money for them selves. And that their children do not know it's a different country, because they did not achieve anything in the war. But at least they can leave their children some money. I think that Larkin means that the troops are going to be brought home from Vietnam. At the end of almost every line in the first stanza is /And it is all right./ In his ironical way he is trying to say that the Vietnam War was pointless, because it did not bring any results. Another poem about the Vietnam War is ´´High Windows

Aforismid (inglise keeles)

People think that they "make up their minds," and they're right, but not in the way that they think. Their choices are not their own and what they call their "mind" is a fabrication. 39. People won't be interested in your ideas unless you demonstrate your mastery of their ideas. 40. Science is like country music--those guys can't resist a clever turn of phrase. 41. Some of the worst warmongers are frustrated peacemakers. 42. Stuff that's "over your head" is only a problem if you don't look up. 43. Technology should be made idiot-proof but it should not thereby be made genius-proof. 44. The bullshit isn't all in one place. 45. The fact that there's demand for your stuff does not mean that it's true, beautiful, or ethical. 46. The heart must go out but it must not bleed. 47. The mind must be used to navigate through the complications of the mind. 48. The only animal in the forest that deserves to be hunted is the hunter. 49. C. Hamed, 14, left a seven-page note that said he was killing himself because his classmates tormented him with names like gay or faggot. He had never told his mother he was being bullied. A few months later, on November 10, another 14-year-old, Dawn-Marie Wesley of Mission, B.C., hanged herself with a dog leash in her bedroom. She too left a note for her family. It read: "If I try to get help, it will get worse. They are always looking for a new person to beat up, and they are the toughest girls. If I ratted, there would be no stopping them. I love you all so much!" Most Canadians remember the tragic 1997 murder of Reena Virk, a high-school student whose battered body was recovered from the Gorge Waterway, near Victoria. Her head and internal organs had been severely damaged by a beating that rendered her senseless before she was deliberately drowned. One girl and a boy were convicted of second-degree murder, and six girls were found guilty of aggravated assault

extricate Africans from being a consumer to a productive race. I decided to write ‘Capitalist Nigger’ also as a doctrine of making money and creating wealth. I am not ashamed to say that I am also purely motivated by the same greed that motivates Caucasians with “killer-instincts” and “devil-may-care” convictions. I see myself as an Economic Warrior for my people and not a victim. As a predator and not a victim, I have decided to confront the truth of my misfortune and when I look in the mirror I see the culprit standing right in front of me – it is me. As the saying goes, truth shall set you free. Truth has set me free. The truth in being a Capitalist Nigger is that it sets you free. Being a Capitalist Nigger puts you in control of every aspect of your life – you are in charge and nobody else. You want your children to have good grades in school? fluence and will be discussing some of the most important of them in this book. After a time, though, I began to realize that the experimental work, while nec- essary, wasn't enough. It didn't allow me to judge the importance of the principles in the world beyond the psychology building and the campus where I was examin- ing them. It became clear that if I was to understand fully the psychology of com- pliance, I would need to broaden my scope of investigation. I would need to look to the compliance professionals-the people who had been using the principles on me all my life. They know what works and what doesn't; the law of survival of the fittest assures it. Their business is to make us comply, and their livelihoods depend on it. Those who don't know how to get people to say yes soon fall away; those who do, stay and flourish. Of course, the compliance professionals aren't the only ones who know about and use these principles to help them get their way

Advantages and disadvantages of television

Now this medium of communication allows people to see and speak with each other if they are separated by thousands of kilometres. TV bridges between Russia and the USA once were very popular. They showed that TV was a unifying force and that our planet in reality is a small world. Previously innovations were promoted on TV. TV shocked, surprised and stimulated. It brought ballet, opera, and theatre to big masses of people. It was even in the vanguard of new drama. Moreover, TV can keep children quiet. If they are noisy their mothers turn on the set. If people do not like TV they do not buy it or switch it off. At the same time there are a lot of arguments against TV. It is said that only three generations have grown up with television, but they managed to forget how to spend their free time without television. Its role is increasing not because it is an entertainer or informant, but because of the grip it has on many people. It is called a "living room monster" or "one-eyed monster

Using one or more examples, explain functions of two hormones in human behavior. Oxytocin is a hormone that is produced by the hypothalamus after being stimulated by the pituitary gland. It is released with touches and hugs. Oxytocin is associated with bonding between a mother and a child and as well as between lovers. If oxytocin is given to healthy individuals, it seems that their brain circuits involved in fear are affected and there is an increase in trust and generosity. The production of melatonin by the pineal gland is stimulated by darkness and inhibited by light. Melatonin levels peak in the middle of the night and decrease towards the morning. As the days get darker, we become tired more early. The use of artificial light can increase the awake time dramatically

About myself

About Myself From the very start I should say that it is not an easy thing to speak about myself as it is hard to have a look at yourself from aside, but at the same time who knows you better than you yourself do? I am a girl of sixteen. When I look at myself in the mirror I see a blond girl with short straight hair, dark eyes and slander figure. As to my appearance I'm rather tall and slim. I have never thought I'm a beauty I whish I were more beautiful. I think that I'm even tempered, rather reserved, calm and modest. But sometimes I can lose my tempo and become either angry or sad. I like staying alone and sometimes I retire into my shell. But at the same time I like my friends, I like to laugh and joke. I have got a sense of humour. It means I understand humour and appreciate it. There are many things in our life I like and some I dislike. I like when everything is OK. Being

Young people who bully are more likely than those who don't bully to skip school and drop out of school. They are also more likely to smoke, drink alcohol and get into fights. It scares some people so much that they skip school. As many as students may stay home on any given day because they're afraid of being bullied. It downgrades students marks and makes an awful inside pain. What is more children who bully are more likely to get into fights, vandalize property, and drop out of school. Homereading - body language

Body language Body language means communication with the movement or position of the human body. It can be conscious or unconscious. It is something that is noticed by everybody but is not always given enough attention. We sometimes ignore it and try to hide behind words, but we should never forget that we cannot fool everyone! Children react to body language because they experience the world through intuition. The same can be true for adults when feelings are involved. People who are in bad shape emotionally will often place great importance in it. In fact, they often pick up the smallest hint of a lapse in attention in the person they are speaking to. And they frequently jump to the conclusion that they are boring or a nuisance - thus compounding any sense of depression or poor self-esteem.

Between the 1770 and 1821, the population of Britain rose from 8.3 million to 14.2 million. London was the largest and richest city in Europe. In 1811 it was the first city in the world to reach a population of a million. It was also an important financial centre: merchants could borrow money from its banks, take out insurance, buy and sell shares. The 19th century was generally a time of great social reform: the slave trade was abolished, the employment of women and children was regulated by laws, primary schools were established, and men could no longer be excluded from universities or politics because of their religion. Pros and Cons of School Uniform

Pros and Cons of School Uniform At several schools worldwide, students are required to wear school uniforms. In some schools, uniforms are not required as this is part of the decision of the school or the parents. On the other hand, wearing school uniform does have its pros and cons. First of all, wearing school uniform suppresses students’ way to express themselves. Uniforms prevent them from wearing the clothes they want to wear. Children are often much more artistic than many adults, especially in high school, teenagers experience an increased need to be unique and special. The clothes are one of the most important things of self-expression, and school uniforms do not allow students to demonstrate their individuality. On the other hand, school uniforms make students feel equal. If students are required to wear school uniforms, people will not recognize who is rich or who is poor. Everybody will give them opportunities equally

Often the desire becomes an obsession and young girls see "thinness" as being a needed characteristic.
