There is a considerable variety of programs, and we can choose what we want to see. TV brings the world into our living room. We can learn more of other countries, customs, occupations, opinions, problems -- you can see a programme which enjoy you most: current events, documentaries, sport and educational programmes, films, plays, the arts, news, variety shows, etc. You always decide which programme is the most exciting, valuable, informative or amusing and is worth seeing. Some people think that it is a waste of time watching TV. Besides, it leads, as they say, to poor health through rushed meals, lack of sleep, eyestrain. People begin to forget the art of conversation. They sit glued to the TV screen instead of visiting. As for me I prefer watching action movies in Nakhodka TV and on holidays I enjoy all Russian canals. My family prefers the news canals and serials. I often like listening music and watching clips on TV. My hobby is

just sit back and relax by reading. With the development of technology, people will become more lazier which may result in the lack of reading. Printed books will be replaced with e-books, print media with social media and so on. They feel that books are unnecessary, all the information needed and more is available online. Furthermore we do not value education and intellectuality much anymore, instead we value more superficial things such as entertainment. Reading is not only amusing and entertaining but it also broadens the ming and keeps the brain functioning. It is a tremendous shame that people read less books time by time.

Beowulf poem and Grendel book-comparison

Beowulf(poem and Grendel(book) comparison

Comparison of "Beowulf" and "Grendel" by John Gardner The text has more or less the same meaning in both of the extracts. The differences lie in the language use, character types, speakers, layout etc. In the original "Beowulf" epic Grendel displays nothing but the most primitive human qualities. He is a grotesque monster who terrorizes a small community of Danish warriors. Therefore he can be called a flat character. In the book "Grendel" the protagonist and antagonist have been swapped. Gardner greatly alters the monster's characterization. In his novel, very little separates Grendel from his human counterparts: he has a high level of intelligence, as well as a human capacity for both emotion and philosophy. As the text is written in the first person point of view through Grendel's eyes, one gets a quite good picture of him. Unfortunately he is fighting with the inevitable. He keeps attacking and eating t...

influencing people's lives in many ways. The new electronic media have become even more influential in shaping people's opinions, attitudes and behaviour. However, does the free press offer a valuable service, or is it, as American journalist, Edward Egglestone said, "organised gossip"? On a personal level, the media can be very entertaining and informative. Reading about the lifestyles of the rich and famous is amusing and can help people forget their own problems. However, journalists frequently intrude on the privacy of celebrities, following them and photographing them in their most intimate moments. This is surely an unacceptable interpretation of the word "free". As far as politics are concerned, the free press is important as it often reveals the truth behind all the speeches and accusations. Unfortunately, most newspapers tend to favour a

was these silly costumes. Usually the aliens should look scary, but in this film you just can't stop laughing at them and this blue singing diva? Theres no way you can take her seriously. The only scary thing was maybe the voice of the ultimate evil character. But besides funny moments there is also some action going. To sum up I would say that it's that kind of film where you don't have to follow the plot too much. It's not a scary or very serious movie, rather amusing after a long day. Also it's nice to have this DVD in your collection because it's just that type of film to whatch with your friends when you've got nothing else to do. Karin Visnapuu 10B

Pride and Prejudice Book Report

Most of the discussion between Elizabeth and Jane is focused around the subject of the males yet not in the childish and immature way like their younger sisters'. In my opinion Mr. Darcy was left with too little compassion and gratitude. He basically arranged the marriage of three of Mrs. Bennet's daughters, but wasn't given enough gratitude. Although Ms. Bennet herself didn't know about it, still it should have been obvious, where did the money came then? I found the novel quite amusing sometimes, as the behaviour of Mrs. Bennet was very ridiculous at some points and nowadays it seems even more unrealistic then it was seen before. All in all, the book was interesting at some points, but still not for me. It was beautiful and unforgetable love story, but too long descriptions of characters and emotions(letters also) made the book sometimes too long. Good alternative for something classical and emotional to read.

He tells her his fantasy of being "the catcher in the rye," a person who catches little children as they are about to fall off of a cliff when playing on a rice field on the edge of a cliff. Next day Holden calls his former English teacher, Mr. Antolini, who tells Holden he can come to his apartment. The teacher asks Holden what does he want from his life and tries to give good advice to the boy. In the evening Holden returns to see Phoebe and takes her to a amusing park. Watching his sister riding on a carousel laughing brings out Holdens tears, and almost causes him a nervous breakdown. The story ends with Holden talking to a psychiatrist, who tries to ,,open him up". Although, critics have chewed on it for a long time, it was an interesting book, writen in a colloquial style, which really fits for younger people to read. Thatswhy I would reccomend ,,The Catcher in the Rye" to people my age.

All the emotions of the human nature can be expressed through the moves of this dance. The key to start a suitable performance is to render the particular emotion into your head and to let your body move freely to the music in a representation of what you feel. The result will be fast, tragic, emotional, furious and amusing at the same time. From this action, the liberation of stress and frustration is the most important aspect. You can fell relieved and happy after this dance. Krumping brings many benefits for the mind and for the body at the same time. In the initial phases of Krumping style development, people believed it will turn into another way through which gangs are formed and start with various negative actions. than just write about what "they want to hear". If you are planning to make your essay funny and writing it in a humorous way, you have to be very, very careful. It is strongly recommended that you should not try to make your essay funny. Almost always, this is done poorly and not appreciated by the admissions committee. There is nothing worse than not laughing at something that was meant to be funny or amusing. A good essay tells a story about the applicant - it's not a life history; rather it is a glimpse into the life of the applicant. Treat your essay as a snapshot, each of us has different selves at different times: sometimes we are clowning about, while other times we are demonstrating wisdom. Pick one of your better selves, one that seems interesting, rich with meaning and alive with imagery and write an essay about it. There, does that not sound easy?

Americanisms are now having an influence on British usage. There are thousands of differences in detail between British and American English, and occasionally they crowd together enough to make some difficulty. If you read that a man, having trouble with his lorry, got out his spanner and lifted the bonnet to see what was the matter, you might not realize that the driver of the truck had taken out his wrench and lifted the hood. It is amusing to play with such differences, but the theory that the American language is now essentially different from English does not hold up. It is often very difficult to decide whether a book was written by an American or an English man. Even in speech it would be hard to prove that national differences are greater than some local differences in 15 either country. On the whole, it now seems probable that the language habits of the two

Although Burr remains controversial figure in American history, Schyler finds him admirable. Believes that Burr is free of hypocracry and admits his mistakes. Some have even thought Sheshach the name of a Babylonian district. But the idea of simple scribal manipulation, which would mean that such desires never even existed, and which is advanced by modern authorities and bolstered by the similar examples from other cultures and by the predilection of scribes for amusing themselves with word and alphabet games, seems the best explanation. Due to the restrictive conditions that have deprived the cat of its actual use, its hearing decreased because it was no longer needed as for hunting its own food. With no need for watchfulness, it was useless to have sharp hearing to listen for hidden things so the hearing became blunt and in natural consequence the ear lost its upright nature, gradually become lower and becoming the hanging ear that is the characteristic feature of the Chinese cat. At first impression this is a surprising and amusing look, but is impression is lost with closer examination. If one ignores the characteristic of the ears, one sees a beauty similar to the Angora cat: a long, close coat of hair, albeit less rich, covers the body. The hair is silky-soft and shining and the colour is usually a light yellow (isabelline) or a dirty white yellow, although some have the usual colouring of the common house-cat.
