The rolling bun

Russian national tale "The rolling bun" Once there lived an old man and old woman. The old man said, "Old woman, bake me a rolling bun." "What can I make it from? I have no flour." "Eh, eh, old woman! Scrape the cupboard, sweep the flour bin, and you will find enough flour." The old woman picked up a duster, scraped the cupboard, swept the flour bin and gathered about two handfuls of flour. She mixed the dough with sour cream, fried it in butter, and put the rolling bun on the window sill to cool. The rolling bun lay and lay there. Suddenly it rolled off the window sill to the bench, from the bench to the floor, from the floor to the door. Then it rolled over the threshold to the entrance hall, from the entrance hall to the porch, from the porch to the courtyard, from the courtyard through the gate and on and on. The rolling bun rolled along the road and met a hare. "Little rolling bu

Gym Hazards

down" at the end of a workout. Stopping suddenly, especially when fatigued, can bring cramps and fainting. Today's gyms are packed with an array of equipment so beginners should be given detailed, individual induction. The most common problems are repetitive stress injuries: inflammation of tendons, fractures of the bone etc. People often find themselves exercising one muscle more than another so they may end up with some muscles more developed than others, or even getting bigger in the very places they want to reduce or firm up. This happens when woman fail to lose fat as the same time as they build muscle. The modern idea that everybody has to join a gym is just ridiculous. Walking, swimming, rowing and dancing have all been found to be good all-round forms of exercises. The key to sticking with exercise is to make it fun, and if going to the gym seems boring or painful, there is no need to do it.

DAYDREAM

DAYDREAM  I was kayaking across the ocean, when I realised I had come to a foreign land. Upon reaching the  shore, I got out of my kayak and went exploring… I was walking on the beach when I suddenly  noticed a tiny house in the middle of nowhere. The windows were broken and the door was open. It was made of wood and in a really bad condition. I saw the smoke coming from the chimney. I  walked, scared, towards the tiny house, I was afraid to go in but I still entered. The house was  really dusty. I was looking around, when suddenly a door appeared. I opened it and i was pulled in. The stair steps appeared one after another. I was really confused and at that moment I wished I  had never got out of my kayak. I was walking down, when suddenly the stair steps started to get  warmer and warmer.

I just couldn't believe that this was about me. It had to be something else, something that happened before I entered the Biology room. The look on his face must have been about another aggravation entirely. It was impossible that this stranger could take such a sudden, intense dislike to me. The door opened again, and the cold wind suddenly gusted through the room, rustling the papers on the desk, swirling my hair around my face. The girl who came in merely stepped to the desk, placed a note in the wire basket, and walked out again. But Edward Cullen's back stiffened, and he turned slowly to glare at me -- his face was absurdly handsome -- with piercing, hate-filled eyes. For an instant, I felt a thrill of genuine fear, raising the hair on my arms. The look only lasted a second, but it chilled me more than the freezing wind. He turned back to the receptionist. "Never mind, then," he said hastily in a voice like velvet

Mardi Gras

fashionable in New Orleans in the springtime. The festivals became more organized in 1857 when a group of people calling themselves "The Mystick Krewe of Comus" made their way through the streets on floats pulled by horses. One float was carrying the king of the Crewe on a throne and another carried a devil sitting among flames made from paper and representing hell. Later, a person of true royal blood found his way into the festival. Alexis Alexandrovich Romanov, the brother of the heir to the Russian throne, went to New Orleans, where the Mardi Gras was being planned. When the planners discovered that a royal person was attending the noisy festivities a float was added for a new king, "Rex." That year, 1872, set the pattern for the Mardi Gras that is celebrated today.. The Grand Duke Alexis was surprised and honored to sit on the float and play the role of Rex. Alexis and Lydia, her loved one whom he had fallowed to New Orleans, probably never even met, but they began a tradition

Ely Whitney

[3] He died on January 8 , 1825 at the age of 59 The cotton gin is a mechanical device which removes the seeds from cotton, and it had been extremely labor-intensive. The cotton gin was a wooden drum stuck with hooks, which pulled the cotton fibers through a mesh. The cotton seeds would not fit through the mesh and fell outside. Whitney occasionally told a story where he was pondering an improved method of seeding the cotton and he was inspired by observing a cat attempting to pull a chicken through a fence, and could only pull through some of the feathers. A single cotton gin could generate up to fifty-five pounds of cleaned cotton daily. The introduction of Cotton Gins to plantations increased productivity because more slaves could be used to harvest product which, in turn, lead to a colossal boom in the South's economic power (since cotton was America's main export and was grown only in the South).

Sisters

Sisters Creasha was sitting alone in her room. It was silence outside, yet she felt that something was wrong it was too quiet. Her older brother, Denis, had always said that too much silence was dangerous even for the hunter. That is what Denis was a bounty hunter. Creasha looked at the paleness of her sleeping twin sister Suzan and thought that it'll be six months soon as mom and dad left the country and their children to the Fate. Well, the reality wasn't so dramatic, since they were politics whom had to travel a lot. Creasha and Suzan weren't small any longer, 16 is almost as good as grown-up! But Denis never thought so; he still cared about his little sisters, as they were babies in his mind. A sudden voice broke the silence Creasha had almost fallen asleep in. Suzan opened her eyes as well and whispered," I've heard this sound before, it's dad's car." In a couple of minutes the twins got dressed. Suzan, who had short, red hair

Heartless

Heartless It was one late evening when a little blond girl, aged between 7-8, ran quietly across the Ninth Avenue and entered one of the old houses that were lining the road. Inside she went smoothly though the corridors and soon reached a wooden door. After knocking twice a voice from inside called "Enter!" and the child went in. The room was filled with the smoke of numberless cigarettes. The girl, however, made no emotion and came closer to the old and ugly man sitting behind the table. "I wasn't lucky today, Grandpa," whispered the child and her light blue eyes filled with tears as she talked. The man smoked soundlessly, not even glancing at the girl. "But I'll go again, tomorrow, and bring you twice the money! I promise! So don't punish me, okay?" The man stood up and walked slowly towards the girl. "I promised your mother to take care of you, yet, if you are useless in even

Less than 20 years later the native Iceni tribe, led by Queen Boudicca, rose up against the Romans in revenge for mistreatment and burnt Londinium to the ground. The well disciplined Roman army defeated her forces and Londinium was rebuilt. By AD 100 it had also become the capital of the Roman province. A massive wall was built to protect the city from further attacks. The Roman Empire came under increasing attack across Europe and in AD 410 they retreated. The Romans gave us a language based on Latin, the calendar, law and legal system, the census and also straight roads, central heating and concrete. St. Paul's Cathedral By this time England had been invaded by the Normans under William the Conqueror and so the new building was in the Norman style and took over 200 years to complete. It was the largest building in the country and was built of imported Caen stone. It was even bigger than the present day St Paul's and its spire was the tallest ever built. When the spire was struck by lightning in the mid 16th century, it was not rebuilt. During the English Civil War and the period of the Cromwell's rule, the Commonwealth, an enormous amount of damage was done to the fabric of the building. Windows, statues, carvings and the nave roof were destroyed. During the war, the Parliamentary army used the nave to stable their horses and later

but Estonians love to watch the national team games. The ones who don't go to the stadium watch the games on TV. The Estonian team hasn't got any medals and they haven't even reached the World Cup or Euro Cup finals but still they can sometimes compete against the big countries. Basketball is also popular. People come to watch the national team games but our league level is much better in basketball than in football so they come to watch the league too. Over 8000 people came to watch the finals last year. A former NBA star Rodman played in Finland a few games and even then there wasn't so much public. It shows the popularity of the sport among Estonians. The best player is Martin Müürsepp who has even played in NBA and at the moment he plays for Unics Kazan in Russia. Jackass Koostas: Klass: Origins The show developed from Big Brother Magazine, a skateboarding-related humor magazine that Jeff Tremaine, Dave Carnie, Rick Kosick and Chris Pontius all worked for, and featured regular contributions from Johnny Knoxville, Tyler Newton and Dave England, among others. The concept of Jackass dates back to 1999 when struggling-actor-turned-writer Johnny Knoxville birthed the idea to test different self defense devices on himself as the basis for an article. He pitched the idea to a couple of magazines and was turned down until meeting with Jeff Tremaine of Big Brother. She delivered a sickly child who had trouble breathing. The woman, without a word of who she was, died and left her new born boy, Oliver, to the drunken nurse that stood by. Chapter2: The State gave Oliver to Mrs. Mann who housed a number of orphaned children. Mrs. Mann took a large portion of the money given to her by the authorities for each child's food so Oliver grew up small and malnourished. On his ninth birthday, the town beadle, Mr. Bumble, came to collect Oliver and take him to the board for an interview. They told him he was to live with other wards of the state to become educated and learn a trade. Oliver did not mind this, but soon after he arrived, the state decided to implement a plan that would save money by feeding the people very little. After a time on this diet, the boys at the table chose Oliver to go ask the head cook for more gruel. Oliver did this, and was taken away
